    I one million percent believe police work is a calling, and you’re either cut out for it or you’re not. I was called, I served, and now I’m enjoying the benefits of retirement at a young age. I’ve seen many tragedies in my career, but the memories that haunt the most are those of children that died way too young. Those were the toughest scenes for me to work. Maintaining a positive mindset, and my spiritual faith has kept me somewhat sane. Great video, I subscribed.

    You mentioned it here but I can't stress enough is to learn something else while you are an LEO! Don't count on your cop skills to find a job that pays as well or even better than Law Enforcement. Find something that pays well, is recession proof, and a school that is flexible with your schedule if you can. Long story as to why I got in it but it all started in childhood when watching cops and I really enjoyed the episodes when the cops caught people in the act of stealing, robbing people, or breaking into places. That ended up being my favorite part of the job, catching thieves along with serving warrants…and having a loyal K9 by my side for 3 of those years. But, when I went to work as a SRO, I was surprised how much I liked mentoring the students as best I could. Law enforcement is challenging for a family, but not impossible. Hope this helps

    I worked in Corrections and hated every second of it. I didn't even last 3 months before I quit. I wanted to be a police officer but kept failing the written exam.
    I moved to a bigger city where a written exam isn't an entry level test. I think I have the real possibility of making it now.
    Problem is, I'm scared. Not of failing but of making it and hating it. I want so bad to love the job I'm terrified that if I hate it I officially wont know what to do anymore.
    I know that sounds whiny, but I just don't want my life to be consumed by a bad department and screw with my family life.

    • @The10CodeMindset
      @The10CodeMindset  Рік тому +11

      You don’t sound whiney at all, just in a temporary bind. I understand your frustration and concern. I would suggest doing research on departments to work for. If they allow ride alongs then go on a few because you don’t want to take a recruiter’s word for it. I recommend a few because you might get one Officer that complains all day and then another who likes it. Up for you to decided but I wish you the best.

    Hello sir. I’m really considering being a chp. I realize the risks of the job but one thing I highly value in life is God and rest. I worry it will take me from church and sleep. If I’m not rested my physical performance is poor and that’s just for sport but I would want to always be at peak performance if I ever were in a dangerous situation. If I value 8 hours of sleep EVERYDAY would you say this career or way of life might not be for me? I value taking care of my self physically and mentally and staying active. I’ve read a lot online about cops developing sleep problems and I couldn’t imagine living life like that. Thanks

Should they be held to a standard, yes, but chances are they won’t show leadership. And then with coworkers, I learned I had no control on how someone was, all I could do was focus on being my best. Did I screw up, yes, and I know I made people upset at times as well. Ok tangent over. You be well, and do great!

      All the best to you when you start in January. May I ask why not start in firefighting now? Don't get me wrong, we need good cops out there, but you're the first to say you'll do a few years then switch. Just curious but if you don't want to answer on this public platform, I fully understand.

    What rational and sane person would even consider becoming a cop? After watching countless body cam videos, I know law enforcement is no longer considered an honorable and respectful profession. Nowadays, it would take a lunatic to ever dream of becoming a peace officer. In reality, there are several UA-cam channels dedicated to exposing ignorant cops who are ignorant of the rights citizens have in the United States. Many cops in this country don't even know the laws. I highly recommend taking a screenshot of this list of UA-cam channels and then doing a search for them here on UA-cam. Because then, you can become more knowledgeable about the tyranny that is taking place in this country. Cops are earning the hate. Wake up america!
