Jobs After Law Enforcement - More Opportunities Than You Might Think
Jobs after law enforcement, more opportunities than you might think.
Sometimes police officers can run the risk of falling into a mindset of believing law enforcement is all they know. That's not true. There are many skills learned within law enforcement that can be applied in other career fields.
In this video, I will share some ideas, but also stories of what other former police officers went on to do, after their law enforcement career.

Police Chief Loses His Temper and His Job - Don't be like this Ex-Chief
Переглядів 4,9 тис.14 днів тому
Police chief loses his temper and his job. Don't be like this Ex-Chief. In Monongah WV, the police chief (at the time) attempted to stop a lady for driving a vehicle with an expired registration. Eventually, she stopped. How it unfolded after she stopped was completely preventable in my opinion if he would have maintained his composure. My guest, Jessica Flores, had to leave law enforcement due to an injury. She was like I was, someone who wanted to work in it all the way up until retirement. But, that didn't happen, and it's not easy. Even those who do make it to retirement have a tough time adju...
How The Did Ex-Deputy Who Killed Sonya Massey Get Hired?!

How did the ex-deputy who killed Sonya Massey get hired?! In my opinion, several red flags, ranging from two DWIs less than a decade ago to being questioned by the Chief Deputy of the Logan County Sheriff's Office about how he was still employed at the agency, should have been enough to raise concerns. So really, how did he get hired? Why did he get hired? I do not know specifically, but I can ...

Violent behavior has been encouraged by the politicians who have embraced lawlessness in their pursuit of power in government. People see politicians get away with horrendous crimes. The media glorifies their criminal behavior. It’s no wonder our society is falling apart.

We all make many mistakes on the journey to gaining life and work experience. In LE those mistakes frequently have serious consequences for innocent people. I know PDs that only hire older (28+). . It solves a lot of problems

@@The10CodeMindset Carrollton, TX a suburb of north Dallas. I lived there from 2000-2020. I believe Frisco, an adjacent suburb, had the same age requirement. They also required college degrees and were the highest paying PDs in Texas at the time. (I don't know if that's still the case.) In contrast, the City of Dallas officer pay was extremely low, and they hired out of high school/academy. It's impossible to describe the problems resulting from that.

Thank you for continuing the videos. I have a request for a video. Could you please create a video that describes dating and marriage as an Officer? The challenges of an Officer who is single and dating. Also, marriage. How to keep a marriage strong and free from infidelity. I've learned that Officers have a higher rate of break ups and divorce as well as affairs, than non Officers/first responders. I apologize if it's a sensitive topic. I feel it is important for people looking into joining the field of Law Enforcement, and people who currently serve. I believe a video as such would create healthy Officers, and their families. Thank you for sharing your wisdom to the views!

Thanks for commenting and I hate to hear you experienced that. While I did encounter some toxic coworkers, for the most part I was very grateful to work with so many awesome cops who were also people who had their hearts in the right place to do well for others. Still friends with many today. I encourage anyone who does encounter a bad working environment though, to take the right course of action that will help them pursue the next opportunity and not jeopardize their mental and physical health, because it can be draining to stay put. Ok, tangent over! HA!

That reminds me of the arrest of Matthew Ward, Detective Jeff Payne and the bodycam footage of San Antonio officer Elizabeth Montoya punching a handcuffed pregnant arrestee in the back of the head while she was lying face down on wet pavement. Montoya got rehired despite Chief McManus's objections. She had another disciplinary incident in which she berated homeless people needlessly. Another disgraced San Antonio officer was hired in another department despite infamously giving a feces sandwich to a homeless person. Law enforcement unfortunately appeals to bullies due to the legal and physical power that law enforcement personnel are granted.

My ancestor, Levi Perryman, was sheriff of Montague County in the 1870s after seeing action in the Trans-Mississippi Department in the spring of 1864 during the Red River Campaign against the Army of the Gulf. His actions are recorded in the Texas Historical Commission and Levy S. London's "Indian Raids of Montague County." During that time, law enforcement agencies had little to no regulations, hiring policies, or resources; especially in frontier areas although there were diplomatic negotiations at times such as trading livestock for captured children by Comanche, Caddo and Kiowa raiding parties, who had rivalries with the Apache, Tonkawa, Navajo and each other at times.

Many departments are incorperating virtual simulations such as MILO, which, like role playing games, have multiple potential outcomes for different scenarios based on the choices of the participants. However, some attacks are completely unprovoked such as police ambushes such as an incident in which a motorist attacked an officer with an axe during an unrelated traffic stop in a residential area and the officer was forced to use lethal force. Other scenarios that officers need to prepare for are those that involve children with weapons such as the middle schoolers in Florida who fired live rounds from a Kalashnikov. There are mandatory training courses in regards to dealing with people with mental health issues and disabilities although some of the training videos leave out potential scenarios such as one in which an autistic man had officers called on him for rubbing his legs in a playground at around 50 minutes in Michael Kolhaas' video. The problem with that depiction is that it was too peaceful of an encounter as it left out hostile and hysterical bystanders such as EWU Bodycam's nearly 45 minute long video "Predator Caught in the Act" demonstrated as do the so-called predator catchers such as Colorado Ped Patrol, who has been the subject of numerous legal actions for harassment and his local sherrif's office has stopped cooperating with him for his unprofessional conduct, which also involves giving edited chat logs as evidence, which defense attorneys can argue as proof of entrapment. He once got chased by a suspect who was armed with a knife and there are claims of him engaging in fraudulent behavior in regards to donations in addition to having his charity delisted as a 501(c)3 for failing to maintain proper records. Furthermore, some so-called predator catchers such as Vitaly have been exposed for staging their content with paid actors like Patty May, who has used suspects as shields in addition to constantly stealing from refrigerators in private residences. Vigilantism should be discouraged because it is usually a dishonest justification to engage in criminal actions such as robbery and civil rights violations, which gives their victims justification for self defense in many cases.

I always had an interest in criminal justice and becoming a police officer, but in my State of NJ, the age range is 21 but no older than 35; I just turned 40 this month. I don't even know if I would have passed Basic Training anyway because I've been in I.T. for years now and being in an office environment puts you out of shape quickly. And I'm making about $50k right now with two children.

I spent about six years as a full time investigator during my career. I did not work for a large metropolitan police department, I worked for a municipal department in the suburbs of a large Midwest city. We were general assignment investigators, and investigated whatever was assigned. One thing that you can count on as an investigator is your never caught up. You will always have open cases that cannot be cleared, and new cases land on your desk everyday. That doesn't mean you can't clear some of the cases assigned to you, but many are unsolvable and all you can do is give it your best efforts. I enjoyed my time in the bureau, but it can take up alot of your time and personal life. I did work some homicide cases with the regional Major Case Squad which was a great experience, but that is for another discussion.

I really had no idea "bad" could be because of my strict religious upbring and my ex-father's insane love of his "people" and his "race". He was so proud and so ignorant. He lied to me about so many thing all in the name of "making me proud of my people and race". Neither of which I was ever a part of. I was surprised at the lack of respect cops had on the street. I was completely floored by the utter contempt the politicians and Brass had for my safety and my well-being.

Yeah I have no doubt he rolls. More cops must be more well-versed in going on hands on for times when it's absolutely needed, or when that taser doesn't work. It keeps them safer, and it's safer for the suspect(s) as well. I know some argue that.
