I'm honestly more surprised that the US government would rely to the unproven Avengers Initiative _before_ calling in a nuke on the portal. And sure enough a single nuke was enough to destroy the mothership-not much of a planetary invasion force if it can't survive a nuke, if I'm being honest here.
And as a whole Earth was ready for Infinity Wars invasion-it's only Thanos that Earth would ever have to worry about. Wakanda was protected by impenetrable energy shield. _Just Nuke it._ It'll be _fine._ The Wakandan can rehabilitate the forest.
The superheroine with the power of exploding star is definitely an overkill in most those scenario tho.

In Fury's defense, the Avengers were already on the scene and it would have taken Marvel anything from 15 minutes to 2 years to arrive depending on which part of the universe she was in currently.

He only wants to call her when Earth's forces are entirely incapable of combating a threat. Captain Marvel is putting out massive fires across space. Many places she's defending don't have their own team of superheroes like Earth does. To pull her away from all those other people in need of her help when Earth has a perfectly capable task force would be hugely selfish and arguably irresponsible. You can disarm a nuke and hit back against an invading army, be it alien or A.I., with military power or with the Avengers. They may lose, but at least they have a realistic chance to fight back. When it came to the snap? Captain America can't throw his shield at a pile of dust to turn it back onto a person.

A lot of people told Brie Larson that she should smile more in the trailers, since she always look bored in them. People even started photoshopping the clips so that she WAS smiling. And being Brie Larson, she clapped back basically saying “I can frown if I want to, it’s MY character!”

Also there is a history in general of men "suggesting to women" that if they smile they would look prettier. It became a thing in the past (at least in the US) where some have used that line as a power thing, i.e. women should just smile be pretty and shut up kind of thing... in the actual movie they touch upon it in the how she got her bike scene.

Seriously though, the fact that they "happened" to forget about Captain Marvel during the first Avengers, when Loki caused trouble on earth in Dark World, or when Thanos first showed up around the universe... and wasn't even mentioned in either of the Guardian's of the Galaxy movies, makes little to no sense why they couldn't had done better with her movie. All jokes aside, such a powerful hero was needed so many times, and Nick Furry never thought of contacting her between his talks with Tony Stark and many others?

@@Belforhir Except that the gauntlet was damaged by it's snap and couldn't resize itself to a new wearer. It's of course a little coincidental that Hulk and Thanos have the same hand size, but that's neither here nor there. So Hulk would have to use his messed up arm, since it wouldn't fit anybody else.
It's also been speculated that the stones can't actually bring people back from the dead. So when everyone was snapped away they weren't dead, just sort of gone. So that's why the Hulk snap could bring them back but Tony, Gamora, and Natasha can't be brought back to life in the MCU timeline.

@@maliq5112 That scene is weird for a couple of reasons. We know he didn't take himself back in time, because Wanda and Vision aren't where they were previously. We also know that he didn't just bring Vision back or the stone back, but also undid the explosion. So this means that he also didn't just reverse time in this small ear, or the radius of the explosion would still be...exploded.
So the closest I can gather with the evidence presented is that he was able to bring Vision and the stone back like Strange brought back eaten portions of the apple and the torn out pages of the book when he was first experimenting with the stone, and that it brought back a Vision that could speak and gasp because he's likely not, as you said, a person. He is a thing that was built and then given sentience by the mind stone.
This reasoning could also explain why he didn't need to use the soul stone to assist in bringing Vision back. We get a clear look at the glove, and the time stone is the only one that's glowing.

His problem is purely on poor writing and direction with more recent films.

The algorithm brought this to me late, but my head canon is that Fury did page Carol in 2012 where she flew through space to find a Chitauri mothership near a weird portal. She proceeded to demolish the mothership with ease, and at the moment it exploded she’s suddenly hit in the back by a missile seemingly thrown at her by some random robot-dude-looking thing that slipped right back through that weird portal just as it closed up. The annoyed but unharmed Carol shrugged her shoulders and flew away.
Superman: I thought she wanted to do a superman ending.
Captain Marvel: It will be MY ending THAnk you VERy much!
