The responses on here are crazy. I've been watching Chris do his thing for about 3 years now. I'm happy for him. Change is good. Did people think he was going to live in a Jeep forever? Good God people. Glad you're happy Chris. You're content is still great to me. Should a time come that your girlfriend wishes to be seen so be it. But that's no one's affair but hers and yours. Love the Revel. Can't wait to see the Jeep again. Stay safe buddy.

Chirs - Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video of our gear! I wanted to reach out because we have since made some major updates to our box line-up. All the boxes are made by outside suppliers as opposed to the carriers that are made in-house. We too felt the boxes were a weak-point and we have worked with our suppliers, and found a new supplier, that is up to our quality standards. We hope to get in contact with you so that you would be able to test out our updated offerings

It makes good sense, and will allow maximum flexibility out on the road. Good Luck!

One addition I think that box could use, would be a power outlet of some sort. You never know when it might come in handy and it'll be out of the elements while inside the box, so it'll be reasonably well protected. I know it would be inside the box and you'd only be able to use it when the door is open, but it would allow you to put something on charge in there that you might not want in the van itself and it could even remain in there while the van is moving down the trails/roads.

Great video, as always. For the past 23 years we have had 2 Rv's at the same time. Motorhome and a truck camper, they get used differently but both work well. We also have a 2 door JLR to flat tow behind either one. I couldn't agree more with your choices. They allow greater flexibility which is a good thing. CONGRATS!

When you have a you tube channel you open yourself up to comments good and bad. People have the right to make comments either way. Myself I have said it before...I am disappointed that Chris has gotten away from doing what drew me and I think many others to watch his channel and I hope he gets back to doing what he was doing before. • @juststeve7665
    @juststeve7665 3 роки тому +41

Chris you might want to edit out the part where they ruined your new rim by not using the proper installation tool when mounting the tire. I watched as he let the tire mounting machine chew gouges in the rim edge and cringed! Supposed to us a plastic guard on the end of the arm when mounting tires on aluminum rims. This makes them look bad/very unprofessional. I know this because I have mounted many many tires on steel and aluminum rims and have made this mistake. OK4WD should have immediately replaced the rim when he saw he did this. If they let this kind of sloppy work go they will ruin their own reputation. Maybe they don't care? There were other installation mistakes as well....

I don't care for the spare tire being in the way of using the ladder, spare should swing.
I'd get a come along called the more power puller, my experience with electric winches is when I need them they don't work. The MPP comealong is rated at 8000 lbs pull double line, it might be more work but you know it will work everytime.

Put bulky lightweight stuff in that box. You do not want a lot of weight swinging around that far back from the axle. Keep those heavy iron shackles inside near a door. perhaps in a bag under the front seat? I'd also figure out a better way to secure that spare tire from theft. That padlock isn't even going to slow down a thief. Well, maybe 10 seconds but that's it. I'd use Xbull for the traction boards as well. They are pretty tough and knowing you they will get little to no use. I'd get and use a Smitty built(bilt?) air compressor. With 5 cfm it's better than most and you can get two for less than some of the fancy name brand stuff out there. I have been using one for many years and very glad I found it. I want another since 10 cfm is better than 5 and having a backup is my OCD habit.

Mkay...baby got box. Guess i'll pop back in from time to time to see if any more nice spots and if Queenie has been unveiled to the public. I mean...even the Pope had a name before making a physical appearance js. At this point I'm half expecting her to be revealed in gold silk, wearing Jesus's shoes with a choir of angels singing in the background. :D

I have a feeling that in the future, looking at the modifications being done to the van, lead character might lose its place to supporting character.

After watching Lock Picking Lawyer vids NO Lock is secure. They only take up time to get to item. Locks ONLY keep Honest people out sad to say. I'd put a thick piece of pipe on the rod between padlock & tire to spin to make it harder to cut with cordless sawzall & with a cable lock as backup.

I went to an RV dealership and looked at a Revel and nearly stroked out as I looked at the sticker...OMG. Well, so much for that. I'll look at what Dodge and Ford offer. I loved the new additions to your rear doors, looks awesome and super functional.

Isn’t it better to keep the weight of the vehicle forward of the rear axle? This new box and tire carrier seem unnecessary with so much unused space in the main compartment.

I’m sure there is plenty of weight on the front axle. It’s about space.

I'm sure you like the new van, but i have to say, it's been a boring couple of videos. I hope you get back to the jeep, exploring offroad, little towns, and gourmet pizza. Maybe your style is in flux with the new GF, idk. Hope it works itself out and you enjoy yourself, but just not looking forward to the vids as much anymore.

I think the van looks cool and think the mods are all fine. A bigger tire, and tool box seem like utilitarian and useful mods to me.
Also, is anyone else noticing that Chris' comment section is becoming more and more insufferable as time goes on? It used to be great, almost nothing but positive and helpful comments, but lately I've mostly just seen people complaining about nothing. I spose change brings about those sorts of reactions, as what people are accustomed to is no longer what they're getting, but this contrast is so stark, and the negative, crybaby reactions don't seem in ratio with the changes. Hell, a number of people are so bitchy here now that they're going after OK4wd for mounting a tire....
The comment section used to be so nice, helpful and friendly, and I did not understand why Chris stayed away from it with the zeal and fervor that vampire stays out of the sunlight. Though the last 3 vids are kinda showing his attitude on the matter may have been a sage-like bit of wisdom.

I remember a time when Chris didn't allow comments on any of his videos. I thought that was actually pretty refreshing, because youtube comments are usually horrible. I was both surprised when he finally opened videos up to comments and when they actually weren't totally horrible like I expected. Fast forward to today and well, you're right, the comments now are typical YT garbage. Just reminds me that if I ever want to document anything on YT I should never allow commenting.
