Dr. Shaun Flynn is back answering a viewer question, "What do I do if I get lockjaw". The temporomandibular joint is one of the most important joints in the body. Because if connects the lower jaw to the upper jaw, any issues in this area could dramatically effect eating, speaking and swallowing. While lockjaw is relatively uncommon, it can be scary for the person experiencing it. In this video, he will go over the most common symptoms, causes, and treatment options for lockjaw.
I had lockjaw back when I was a teenager, my mom thinks it was because “I wasn’t taking my meds on time” and I stopped taking them. A few years later I was at my dentist appointment and I asked them about my lockjaw, I had this response and I never felt so relieved to find the problem and fixed it!!
how did you fix it?
I have had lockjaw since my wisdom tooth removal over a month ago, my jaw can open about an inch - I can't even get a finger in. I have been to dentist and physio and nothing has helped. I am doing all the reccomendations. Ive tried heat, massage, medication. I am at breaking point.
We’re so sorry to hear about your struggles. Really hoping that in time the tightness/ swelling will go away and you come to a full comfortable recovery
Thank you.
Muscle spasms can also be caused by cell walls on the neurons in the brain becoming thin, causing electrical arching triggering spasms.
The cell walls can become thin a few different reasons, such as chemical exposure, over exercise, malnutrition, and dehydration.
It's always good to start by drinking water right away to lessen the shock of the event.
To treat the other three causes having them all relate to the need of specific nutrients. Those nutrients being complex carbons to rebuild the cell wall strength in brain cells.
Complex carbons are essentially cholesterol.
During an event as such a severe spasm it is good to right away eat a couple eggs with the yolk. And also liver of any kind, but prefer braunschweiger because it is immediately ready for consumption in cases of such emergency.
I personally live a close to cholesterol free diet. But it can be dangerous in the situation these spasms start to occur.
Cholesterol is very important in your diet to create bile in your digestive tract to properly digest food. Without any cholesterol in your diet once having defeated high blood pressure can lead to certain colorectal cancers such as bleeding and ulcerations.
So remember it's good to eat cholesterol.
And it's a must do thing during such severe muscle spasms such as lock jaw.

@@BarbaraWrakonei as you can imagine, the creators on this channel are here to give general information and cannot give specific advice. We recommend you see your dentist and / or medical doctor near you for help.
Mine came from the injections the dentist gave me on the 30th of last month, been messaging and warm compresses and a lot of over the counter meds for pain, still not going away.help.
Although we cannot give you specific advice, you will definitely want to keep in touch with your dentist to make sure your bite is correct. Sounds like you are doing all of the right things! They should be able to recommend treatment and check things over to make sure nothing else is wrong.

We can't give specific advice but you may want to get a consult with a massage therapist that specializes in TMJ disorders.
@@BURSTOralCareTVwhat if we can’t afford that kind of help?
@@noneed6134 Some people find relief when they learn massage techniques at home so this may be something you want to do some research about
