Love this type of content, gets the club and members involved. You should make this a series, unlike anything else I have seen other than Pete’s beat the pro. This is basically local caddie, and it really is a proper good watch, it might be a northern England thing but it’s nice to hear the locals working with you.
Great video Matt - despite some grotty weather. Great to see Kent assisting you - great guy who loves his golf and loves UA-cam. Gonna try and see if the youth can have a crack at this next year - it's one of his favourite courses, and he's been fortunate enough to play a few for a 14 year old.
Great attitude, Matt! The mental game is really improving apace. Considering three lip-outs, quite a respectable round of golf on a tough course, well done.
That was great Matt. Lovely to see a great course bare its teeth and play its length. Great characters showing you round. Next time come back when it’s dry. 😁👍
That swing looks night and day from your last video. It’s looking really nice now. I can see you doing well from now on. Your vids are mint by the way 👍
What an absolute natural beauty, it looks like it would be a really tough track, slopes everywhere, changes of elevation, I can see why it's got that name. You know the old saying Matt, keep off the moors, stick to the roads and beware the moon. 🐺
Well done Matt for persevering, I hate playing in the rain, I play for fun and enjoyment and to me there is non is rainy weather worse if you add wind. I’ll only stay on the course if it’s a comp. Halifax looks a fantastic challenge and I can see me making a trip there next year when the weather forecast is better
@@guyr7351 There are a couple on the left going towards Manchester Guy. I think the one that you are referencing will be Outlane Golf Club, just after Junction 21? Coming from the M1, you would take M62 and off at J26 or J25 and we are 30minutes from either of those...J26 being favourite.
@ great, I’m away from UK at present on hols but I’ll Google it when home and check it out I live near Middlesbrough so your less than 100 miles I think, plus retired so I can look at the weather forecasts and avoid the days like Matt had.
@guyr7351 Retirement is such a blessing Guy, I absolutely love it👍👍👍 Funnily enough, I met a couple of Smoggies whilst playing Halifax last week. We were having a laugh about you being fellow Tykes...but only just 😉 and us keeping on kicking Todmorden out of Gods County and them fighting to get back in! They do carry a Lancashire Post Code after all 🤣🤣🤣
It's a daunting experience teeing it up there Paul. It's not so much the carry across the ravine as it is the amount of barracking you get from friends...especially if you have a late tee time and the guys are a little lubricated 😂😂😂
Been lucky to play there twice. First time was a glorious June day with zero wind. Next time was same day a year later and the flag on 18 was nearly touching the ground!!!!!
Enjoy the weather in Dubai Matt...Im sure its a welcome change to a cold, wet and windy Halifax 😉 It was a pleasure spending the day with Joe and yourself. Props for sticking it out, the weather was truly awful for you and not conducive to decent scoring at all. Come back in the Summer when theres some roll and the greens are up to speed.
@@JonnyPlaysGolf I had shorts on Jonny...under my waterproofs though 😉 I can't tell you how bad it was. We were all soaked, I was in full Gore-Tex but poor Grant only had a jumper on 🤣 As for Joe he was trying to keep everything dry and even had the camera in a waterproof sleeve.
@@JonnyPlaysGolf You know what it's like up there Jonny...terrible one minute, glorious the next. Matt's drone footage was done after he hit his tee shot on 17! So it went from dismal to those fantastic flyovers in no time at all 🤪
I think a lot of people have no idea how tough courses get. If you hit 90 round a nice open 6000y municipal, you're staring 135 in the face round a tough course. 3 putt? LMAO, chip on and a four putt is going to happen, repeatedly. GolfSidekick said recently you needed 25% dispersion to choose your teeing off club, ie you hit it 280, you want a 70 yard wide area to land in...lovely, apart from the fact that on Sunday I will have an 11 yard wide gap to aim at, 75 yards from the tee on a 445y par 4 with 195y carry to the fairway that is 35y wide.... I'm all ears as to what club to take.
I would love to see you playing golf with your dad as your caddy - I bet you would play better and the relationships between father and son - teacher and pupil - and player and caddy very interesting and it would be different- -‘Me and my dad’ series for next year?
The course is very playable off the daily yellow tees, can be tough when the wind blows (it normally does) but the fairways are wide enough to give you a chance.
I must watch a different video to others in these comments. I like Matts videos, but boy is he Mr Negative. He's just shot +5 around a tough course in awful weather and on the last hole wants to snap his putter. Even when he does a good shot he will find a negative to it.
If you had been able to see Matt constructing his round you would have understood his frustration Mike. Our greens are so much faster that he was expecting, the 8th being a prime example. Matt hit a worldy chip and the ball ran down a small slope and off the green. He lipped so many putts too, the round could have been so much better. Hopefully he will give it another crack in the Summer when the course is fast, bouncy and our greens are up to tournament pace 😂
It was a pleasure having you Matt, great company and some great golf. We hope so see you back when the sun is shining.
The Sun is scheduled to come out there on May 5th 2025.
@@vegastjgThe sun is on order! 👍 We can’t guarantee no wind on the day though 😂😂😂
Could be waiting a long time.

I agree.
It was great to host Matt and Joe to The Halifax Golf Club. Such a shame that they didn't get decent weather for the day...next time maybe 🤞
I love this style of video - concise, loved the inclusion of local course knowledge, and impressive golf! Great video, Matt
Well done for the members sticking it out with you,in those conditions that can be a moral in the red round!! Well done Matt
Proper job, mate! Cracking on in that maelstrom deserves major props!!!
Proper golf course that Matt, you did exceptionally well in those weather conditions 👍🌧️🌪️⛳

Let's have Jamie play against The Blue Monster next year Graham 👌
@ He’s absolutely up for it Kent - 100% 👍
@ladgolf6330 If you can do an 'All Shots' or have one of us with you we can add Jamie to 'The Blue Monster' Leaderboard 👍
Have to respect Matt's tenacity regardless of his game on a given day.
I’ll be watching this one at least 3-4 times if not more
Very enjoyable round to watch and beautiful course, good play in the tougher conditions Matt!
Great attitude, Matt! The mental game is really improving apace. Considering three lip-outs, quite a respectable round of golf on a tough course, well done.
Hats off to you for braving that horrid weather and a seriously tough track .
Can’t believe you’ve managed to get the legendary Kent on the bag! Great effort on a monstrous layout
Legend in my own lunchtime Jonny.
We'll get you back in the Summer on fast greens and bouncy, running fairways
That was great Matt. Lovely to see a great course bare its teeth and play its length. Great characters showing you round. Next time come back when it’s dry. 😁👍
And...it could have been so much worse Russ, the wind didn't get up near what was forecast LMAO
Some golf in that weather Matt lad
I've had drier showers!! 😁😁😁😁
Best value golf course in the country this place. Going back soon. Unreal
We'll look forward to hosting you Rich 👍

It wasn't the best of days mate, I have been friends with both of your caddies for many years. The sun does shine in Halifax sometimes 😉😉
Go steady with the 'friends' comment Darbs...we are acquaintances
PSYCH! 😂😂😂

@@darrenarbergolf Been a mate since you were a Junior and West Ends ‘shop rat’ Darbs…just pulling your chain 😉
Tough Yorkshire conditions on a super golf course, looking forward to our next visit………on a sunny day 😊

Well persevered Matt. Looks like a beautiful course, but one to play when it's warm (and rainy)

Love this course! Regularly play it with my brothers. The 17th is bonkers
Siting here in 28 degrees, 84% humidity Malaysia, I started feeling cold in simpathy.
Great effort!
Quite the tango in Halifax 🏌🏻🕺🏻🌧️
Needed Ozzys flask on the back 9 😉

Devastating when the weather clears up after playing 17 holes in the rain 🤣
Do you and your camera operative speak? He looked lonely in the buggy at the beginning 😂

Joe, top drawer fella. Poor guy was wrapped up as much as the camera equipment
Love the shorter 18 hole vlog.
My God, Matt, do you ever get to play in good weather?

Wait until you play it on a bad day "!!
Pretty sure MIZUNO makes some A-grade wet weather gear. Maybe if you ask nicely they’d sort you out.

The bad short game can ruin everyone’s round of golf but a bad day of golf is always better than a good day at work!! 😂
