Great show opener. Despite the narrative that many try to portray, that Floor was unknown to most of the fans, the fact is that Floor was very well known to most Nightwish fans, especially in Europe. Her first band, After Forever, shared a lot of the same fans with Nightwish, and toured Europe opening for Nightwish. Her second band, reVamp, was also very active on the European festival circuit. When Tarja, the original singer, was dismissed, Floor was one of the people many fans hoped would replace her. It didn’t happen then, but when it finally did, there was a lot of excitement because the fans knew how great she was and what a perfect combination it would be. Notice the big roar of applause she got when she walked onto the stage, before she’d even sung a note…people were excited about her fronting Nightwish because they knew her and how incredible she would be with them.
Perfect backstory, and yes most of the NW fans there knew Floor and what she was capable of. What they witnessed that magical night was Nightwish revitalized. A true band at last. You see it with the guys, her "brothers in metal" from the get go. They knew they were writing music history at Wacken and the fans knew it too. Cheers!
@@BrendonChase_2015 I remember when I saw the announcement online…”FINALLY!!” Prior to that, I’d always thought Anneke Van Giersbergen and The Gathering were the perfect marriage of vocalist to band…I knew Floor and Nightwish had usurped that position before I even heard them together.
@@Zoey-K-1 Don't get me started on Anneke. She's the perfect marriage to anything, haha! And oh, The Gathering.. Still bugs me that we missed that TG25 gig in Nijmegen. Cheers!
Definitely hanging in here with y'all. This "Dark Chest Of Wonders," was the opener to this show. The crowd was super pumped, plus Nightwish never looses their momentum or show signs of fatigue throughout each and every piece of music they perform at this festival. Appreciate you all and certainly look forward to hearing your musical creations. Peace be with you all, also, keep enjoying the Fizz, there's plenty more with Nightwish. I sure hope you can react to "Devil in The Deep Dark Ocean", live from Buenos Aires, the same venue where they performed "I Want My Tears Back". 🍁🍀🍂🥬🍁
"A metal maniacs Peter Pan movie"... That`s the best comment I`ve ever heard describing Nightwish xD I`m literally cramping up right now hahaha. Love your reaction videos
And that is how you open a show. This was the first time many in this crowd in Germany had seen Floor with Nightwish. The 10 months she had been with the band were mostly spent in North and South America. The song was also the opener at the 2005 Helsinki show with Tarja. Dogcatcher took Animal.🤣🤣🤣 Do you have to go to the pound to get him?😁
Dark Chest of Wonders have nice little backstory. This is from 'Once Upon a Nightwish: The Official Biography 1996 - 2006', the time is the year 2003, when they were making the Once album, which ended up being a huge success: ---------------------------------------------- The rest of the Nighwish Famiglia had also learned to trust Tuomas' visions. "The band understands that the final versions sound nothing like the demos", Tuomas says. "I had to try and make them hear an orchestra and vocals here, a choir there, in order to convince them that it will sound good in the end. And no one ever said anything against it." "Tuomas can hear the kettledrums and choirs and orchestras in his head, but we can only hear the keyboards and the rhythm", Jukka laughs. "Although he tries to explain all those things, you really can't figure out what the song will sound like in the end. But you can't object, either. When we first went through the songs, I felt like there was no hit material on the album. Even 'Nemo' didn't catch me at first. Marco was initially completely dumbfounded by Tuomas' plans. "I often had to ask Tuomas what the hell's going on in the song", Marco laughs. "Like, 'Is this where the vocals will be? Is this the chorus?' I obviously needed some information about the backing tracks as well, to know where I could let it rip, and I often wondered would there even be room for anything else - like, 'How much stuff are you still going to layer on top of this?!" I was still feeling skeptical while we were doing the demo version of 'Dark Chest of Wonders', and I really didn't get the track until I heard the finished version. On the demo, Tarja's (1st singer) new singing style was still at a try-out phase, so you couldn't really hear the power in the song. But after proper production, the track changed quite radically and you could hear the point." Tero (engineering, producer since 1997) was another dissident not always convinced by Tuomas' ideas. "I was so wrong about 'Dark Chest of Wonders'", he admits. "I hated that song and I even suggested It'd be left out altogether, partly because the original lyrics had magic wands and stuff like that in them, but also because it sounded really messy. But once we got it on tape, I realized it sounded so good that it should be the opening track. I guess I was initially under the wrong impression that on this album, the band sort of...grows up."

Being part of the Nightwish Army. You have millions of friends you just haven't met in person. Yet you ever go anywhere. Just throw up the Nightwish sign. You'll be surprised how many answer. I was working in Turkey. Spoke very little of the language. Trying to get a cab. Guy seen my Nightwish tattoo on my forearm. Came over and help with a ride. He actually drove me to his house. Set me up like a king. Then showed me all his Nightwish records. He hadn't even heard of shudder before the beautiful album. I played what I had downloaded for him. He was in tears. Then refused to let me stay in a hotel. He put me up for a week at his home. Refuse to take any money for it. Then also drove me around everywhere. Floor’s first song, & concert as a permanent member. The audience didn’t even know, she had recently filled in for the previous singer in October, 2012, why it’s her 10th anniversary. They were in the US in June, hope they come back with a bigger US tour.
One of my absolute favorites. As an opener to the show.. un-f-----s=believable. I have heard it 100s of times. But seeing you react for he first time gies me 'the fizz' and even brings tears to my eyes. What is is about Nightwish? These people are UNIQUE amoung billions.
Excellent reaction and insightful comments. Quite an opening song, isn't it? From Jukka pounding the drums to the operatic overlay to Emppu's awesome riff and pinches, topped off by the arrival of the Valkyrie Queen. Floor had been with Nightwish for 10 months, but this was her first festival show with an enormous crowd, and she had them in the palm of her hand from the first note. As musicians, you naturally hear the music first. I am an amateur (very amateur) writer/poet, so I hear the lyrics first. Neither is wrong. Just take your time, work on your music, and don't worry, we will be here for the ride. Have you considered a Patreon account to help fund your channel? Hey guys!!! Me again. Good reaction!!! Guess what!!! Nigthwish will play a hundred miles from my Home!!!! Next sunday!!!!!!! I'm going!!!!! I'm so excited!!! If you want, I'll tell you mext sunday or monday!!! Please tell me if you want. Greettings
Thank you for a lovely reaction to a great song 🙏 That’s how you open a show ‼️ Floor was only 10 months with the band at that time and she once said that she was a “little “ nervous preforming for 82.000 people. Well I guess NOBODY in the crowd had noticed that 😂. 👍🫶🇳🇱
Yep, I like you guys too. You can go through this whole concert one song at a time. There are no bad songs. Bless the child is my favorite from this concert. Also, How's the heart ACOUSTIC is floor in her purest form. Hang in there and well done.
And that, lady's and gentleman, is how you open a set as main act! If memory serves me well, they closed the festival following Alice Cooper...if there were people dosing off, this will have woken them up for sure! Truly enjoying your journey guys, thank you!
7:25 this was good. You guys told your own interpretation and how it felt. Tuomas makes the music and the lyrics, so there is big connection. Because his poetic style, the songs are multi-interpretable so there is no right or wrong answer. My favourite example is: If Leonardo da Vinci would've explained everything about Mona Lisa's smile, there wouldn't be art or it would be really boring. Artists shouldn't explain their work too detailed.
This is a master class in how to start a show! Been lurkin around here for your journey. I discovered Nightwish a couple of years ago, and it is an amazing thing to kind of stumble into. Helluva rabbit hole. Keep on keepin on!
We all got our thing, music and lyrics count at different times but enjoying the experience is the most important! Good music ties with the singing so u feel the vibe regardless
Thats how you start a show!! Speaking of Peter Pan I got a few must do's. "Storytime" live from Wacken "Pan" official lyric video Also... "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" and "Slaying the Dreamer" both live from Buenos Aires.
Just as The Greatest Show On Earth was the perfect way to end a show, Dark Chest Of Wonders on the other hand is an amazing way to open one! And then being able to keep that energy throughout the whole concert... that to me is why Nightwish is the best. You should definitely check out the whole Wacken concert in one go. Also Wembley and Tampere 2015 are totally worth it.
That's the way they open their shows, when tuomas says things in the songs about a child, poet or the ocean he is usually writing about himself thing that happened or influenced him through the years especially when he was younger, just some FYI, you might play a song from tuomas called the lifetime of adventure tuomas wife is the main singer and it's beautiful there is a video, I am enjoying your journey and respect you give this band God bless
Some reactors do double reactions, maybe 2 times a month, I was thinking Nightwish's song Nemo the first one from the end of an era concert sung by Tarja the first singer from 2005 I believe, and the second one from this concert from 2013 at Wackin, sung by Floor...it's only a 5 or 6 minute song...🙂🎤🎸🎹🥁🎙🎶🎵🎼🥁..... just a suggestion....they have 5 albums from Tarja, 2 from Annette, and 2 from Floor, Tuomas has all song's written for a new album, there going to enter the studio in the spring of 2023 to record it. It's going to follow the pattern of the last 2 albums, he called it a trilogy..
Great reactions, keep up the good work. I discovered Nightwish at the start of the pandemic back in late 2019 and I'm 67. My song suggestion from Wacken 2013....SONG OF MYSELF.
Ya'll should also check out Roy Khan era Kamelot, especially the One Cold Winter's Night live album/DVD from 2006. The singer and the drummer are magnifique
Thank you guys for continuing the Nightwish reactions. One hell of a show opener. This is one of the songs in the setlist for their 2022 world tour. Loving how y'all react to our beloved band and our Valkyrie goddess, Floor. Keep the Nightwish concerts coming.
Love your reaction again. Looks like you guys love the somewhat heavier stuff from Nightwish. May I suggest you out 'Slayin the dreamer' from the Buenos Aires 2018 Decades concert. I think you'll like that one.
Great song and great reaction! Another one that you will love is Nightwish - Bless the Child (Wacken 2013) ua-cam.com/video/VTPXvE6o3LY/v-deo.html God Bless.
Hey, you should definitely check out Toumas Holopanen A Lifetime of Adventure of Scrooge Mcduck, official music video awesome thanks request 😀 there is an entire album on this 😀but the woman singing if Toumas's wife Johanna?
Been a fan of Nightwish for well over 20 years and in this old Metal rock heads humble opinion just enjoy like you were doing Tuomas genius compositions. I have listened to my favorite Nightwish songs over a million time ( maybe a slight bending of the truth). It’s your journey and as you dive deeper into this band you’ll find even more magic of Nightwish. It’s not a sprint but just a long wonderful journey! Dead Boys Poem Buenios Aires is my suggestion for you. Get some rest God Bless! Rock On Stay Safe!🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Now that you're hanging with the nightwish family you're going to get pulled in 100 directions with suggestions. I promise you I'm going to make this one and no more after. I might suggest that you look at so much older material with the original singer. Their cover of the phantom of the Opera would be a great example of her work. She is every bit as impressive as floor but entirely different because she is much more of an opera singer. Now I will pester you with no more suggestions. God bless.
Ok, watched it, happy you did feel the Energy. We did talked afterwards, we assumed every 6 of us had about 50+? BPM more on the Clock soon as Jukka steps in. They blew us simply away in the first 50 Seconds, and we were absolutely in the Game. Hadnt heard Floor before, and it was like an Relevation. Rest is Metal History.
what you have to remember is that all thosse fans had never seen or heard floor janssen as she joined during this tour so the fans are hearing her voice on thesse songs for the first time as the album the tour is from was recorded with anntette as the singer
First time for Floor to be in front of such a big audience +82k - she was a bit nervous - also first time for the audience to meet Floor (they bought the ticket the year before) - the rest is history
Amazing show opener! Floor is officially only a session/temporary singer at this moment, she's been with the band for approx 10 months when this was recorded. You are doing an amazing job, keep it up! See you soon again
Before even one note was played, the great majority of NW fans knew what was coming. Like the other commenter said, providing the full backstory, they all knew established metal chick Floor from her legendary band After Forever (and ReVamp). They knew that with her, Nightwish would finally be a true metal band again and that music history would be written that night. QED. Lots of great After Forever stuff still online, but here's some rare footage recovered from a damaged tape from 2003 (the year AF also toured with NW). I've set the clip to start with "Leaden Legacy", since that song is pure gold. It's symphonic METAL (instead of heavy riffed film score music). Enjoy! "After Forever - Live in Bibelot 2003 - Vilin Music" - [link in follow-up since my 1st attempt apparently got filtered by YT] Take a good rest & take yr time you guys. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
Absofreakinlutely love your reactions always. Your channel is yours to do what y'all feel is necessary and please never worry what others think. Welcome to the Framily...
Every song Tuomas writes has a special meaning to him. He just said in an interview, "music is what feelings sounds like", you just can't say it better. You guys are great, but check out Tarja too.
Appreciate you throwing up a reaction after a long day's work! Love to see how you light right up! And dammit...I've already started using the phrase, "The fizz"... For another amazing show opener...see Shudder Before the Beautiful live at Wembley.
Tuomas' poetry is meant to sometimes have open ended meanings. We all get different things out of great poetic lyrics. To understand Tuomas' inner feelings about nature and his yearning to never grow old. Also his love of all things watery, like oceans, rivers, and the shore. Nailed it again Chrissy. Yearning for the wonders and excitement of childhood. You guys need to check out the song which follows this one. A big Nightwish hit called "Wish I Had An Angel". ua-cam.com/video/CbbGdTBkKnY/v-deo.html - 🎼 NIGHTWISH 🎶 Wish I Had An Angel 🎶 Live At Wacken 2013 ☢ CORRECT SPEED ☢
This has to be one of the best show opening songs ever. Thank you for using my video for your reaction. I only have lyrics on two of them thou. We have AI enhanced 4k version of this concert (with slightly touched audio). It's published on Remastercide channel. Many other AI enhanced stuff there too. I have been planning to publish all those on my channel also, but haven't got time.
The crowd awaiting the opener... Floor feeling nervous backstage, strides on, then THIS! "Metal Maniacs Peter Pan Movie"! Chrissie gets it :) Missing Bruce and Animal already. The backing choir, Emppu doing some squeals. Jukka off like a rocket. I think it was after this song, that Marko introduced the new voice.
Me personally do not read the lyrics for some first 50 or so listenings, maybe then, just music itself, stage presence, performance gives me all the emotions
Loving your journey so much guys :-) please stick at it, it's the most wonderful journey into the mind of a genius and his gifted band members most beautiful. To bring the boy out of the man try storytime next and you will all get the Fizz. Pease Out Mick, UK
Now you did the opener from Wacken 2013. You should check out the opener from Wembley 2015 ‘Shudder before the beautiful’. Man they really know how to start a show!
Really enjoying your reactions. You should check out Wintersun with their song, sons of winter and stars, with Kai from nightwish on drums and Jukka, current bass player with nightwish.
Love following your journey. If you liked Ayreon, try Valley of the Queens( I think Chrissy will love it). Not metal, but beautiful. I think you would also like Everybody Dies. I know I asked for you to Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean by Nightwish before, but it is one of my favorites!
Absolutely loving your reactions so far guys! If you want to see Kai drumming in his other band you should check out Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars live studio rehearsal. It will blow you away, I'm not sure if it's already been suggested to you 🖤
My personal preference for reactions is: on cam: watch the vid on cam: tiny first reaction off cam: lyrics check and second watch, on cam: react in depth showing some small clips from the vid. Everyone gets a 2 or 3 moments to show. In your current format I often see 2 people trying to tell something at the same time, one of you shuts up to give space to the other, but then we never hear what the other person had to say. It's just one persons opinion, others might disagree.
🇫🇮 👍Like always, I enjoyed your reaction to the dark chest of wonders, which is Nightwish - once you open the lid, there's no going back. Here's a more straight-forward song about this band: Nightwish - Edema Ruh (Special Video) ua-cam.com/video/2BfakYUK-0Q/v-deo.html The video was made by the Brazilian division of the Nightwish army. P.S. There's a new band for you. They come from Israel & are my favorite symphonic progressive metal band at the moment. However, to keep you on a familiar ground, this is their live cover of Nightwish's "Amaranth", which was the first official single from Nightwish's sixth studio album, "Dark Passion Play", and the second single overall to feature former front woman Anette Olzon, that was replaced in 2012 by Floor Jansen: Nightwish - Amaranth (Live cover by Scardust feat. Danny-Ly Ziser) ua-cam.com/video/FeYUhhWExS8/v-deo.html The brunette is Scardust's front woman Noa Gruman, who has a vocal range of 4,5 octaves, which is more than an octave wider than that of Floor Jansen, meaning that Noa can go several notes lower & a few notes higher.
Guys, just a little help with pronunciation: Tuomas is three syllables: Too-oh-mas. And in Finnish (just like in my native Hungarian, a language distantly related to Finnish), the stress always goes on the first syllable, so it's TOO-oh-mas :)
Great reaction again guys 👍 May I suggest that you check out the song Meadows of Heaven - it's a beautiful song that I think you'll enjoy and features second vocalist Annette Olzen. She isn't so great live but the two albums she did with the band are fantastic - as a result I recommend you watch the lyric video of the studio version, linked below 🤘 ua-cam.com/video/vxsjv6LtRz0/v-deo.html

Yep, I like you guys too. You can go through this whole concert one song at a time. There are no bad songs. Bless the child is my favorite from this concert. Also, How's the heart ACOUSTIC is floor in her purest form. Hang in there and well done.
Thank 😊 you
And that, lady's and gentleman, is how you open a set as main act! If memory serves me well, they closed the festival following Alice Cooper...if there were people dosing off, this will have woken them up for sure! Truly enjoying your journey guys, thank you!
Thank y'all for the awesome reaction, as always! You guys work so hard! Always appreciate you, and please take care of yourselves. 👍👍
Thanks so much,we will, you too!
No doubt, nice analogy 👍
This is a master class in how to start a show! Been lurkin around here for your journey. I discovered Nightwish a couple of years ago, and it is an amazing thing to kind of stumble into. Helluva rabbit hole. Keep on keepin on!
Yes it is a Masterclass! And the rabbit hole is a symphonic metal masterpiece 👌
Death boys poem
10th man down
Are amazing
We all got our thing, music and lyrics count at different times but enjoying the experience is the most important! Good music ties with the singing so u feel the vibe regardless
Amen!
now this id how you open a concert first song! Go Nightwish!!!!!!!!!
Thats how you start a show!! Speaking of Peter Pan I got a few must do's.
"Storytime" live from Wacken
"Pan" official lyric video
Also...
Also Wembley and Tampere 2015 are totally worth it.
how you open a concert!
So you guys are infected with the happy Nightwish virus, like sooo many people in the hole world. I'ts EPIIIIIIC🤘🤘🤘
I so look forward to hearing her sing thats...awesome God Bless you too!
I love Dark Chest of Wonders! Thanks again
Rock on!
Ya'll should also check out Roy Khan era Kamelot, especially the One Cold Winter's Night live album/DVD from 2006. The singer and the drummer are magnifique
🤩👍💥💯
Starting the show by playing a Banger track with a finishing Bang!
Let alone ending the whole gig with a Banger : "Last Ride of the Day"
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
Thank you guys for continuing the Nightwish reactions. One hell of a show opener. This is one of the songs in the setlist for their 2022 world tour. Loving how y'all react to our beloved band and our Valkyrie goddess, Floor. Keep the Nightwish concerts coming.
Love your reaction again. Looks like you guys love the somewhat heavier stuff from Nightwish. May I suggest you out 'Slayin the dreamer' from the Buenos Aires 2018 Decades concert. I think you'll like that one.
One hell of a song to start the show and get the juice's flowing.
😊🇫🇮❤️🎼💙✨🤘
Greatest show Opener ewer 🎶
Here goes: After Forever - "Leaden Legacy" ua-cam.com/video/0WarP_tfBnw/v-deo.html
@@BrendonChase_2015 oh wow thank you for that link. I have never seen that, how could I miss that ‼️🤯
Dankjewel 🙏 🤘🫶🇳🇱
You're such a great team all together...I really love to see this! All for the music, all for enjoying life! Thanks again, friends...
SHE IS MY SIN, I guess is the next natural song choice!!!!
Nightwish Army Southwest Michigan Division checking in. Really enjoying watching you all discover this awesome band. 💯🤘
Good job nice comment 🤘🤘🤘❤️❤️🤘🤘
Absofreakinlutely love your reactions always. Your channel is yours to do what y'all feel is necessary and please never worry what others think. Welcome to the Framily...
A request. A happy song. Nightwish - Alpenglow, live in Mexico City.
An amazing song
Always great content, my friends.
Another great, warm reaction. Always happy to hear from you.
You guys are doing a good job love all your content this is a real old song this is back when tarja was with them it rocks like you keep rocking
Dark Chest of Wonders is one of my top 3 NW favorite songs.
Greetings from UK
Thank you guys, glad to see that you are still enjoying the songs 😊
I am loving your journey
This has to be one of the best show opening songs ever. Thank you for using my video for your reaction. I only have lyrics on two of them thou. We have AI enhanced 4k version of this concert (with slightly touched audio). It's published on Remastercide channel. Many other AI enhanced stuff there too. I have been planning to publish all those on my channel also, but haven't got time.
The crowd awaiting the opener...
Floor feeling nervous backstage, strides on, then THIS!
"Metal Maniacs Peter Pan Movie"!
Chrissie gets it :)
Missing Bruce and Animal already.
The backing choir, Emppu doing some squeals.
Jukka off like a rocket.
I think it was after this song, that Marko introduced the new voice.
Love this opener.
Not to mention Noice ..
Good one. The first song of the show, not a bad introduction of Floor as the new singer to the European fans.
Thanks again for another great song. Already waiting for the next one. Always do like your reaction video's from Nightwish
Really enjoying your reactions. You should check out Wintersun with their song, sons of winter and stars, with Kai from nightwish on drums and Jukka, current bass player with nightwish.
I concur.
Very nice to see you again ❤️👍🏻🆗
Greetings from Europe, Netherlands 🇳🇱
Thanks for a very nice reaction and also for a very nice light show of your own, bye
That’s the way to open a show❣️
Probably at this point it’s worth going back to hear a song with Tarja. Singer 2, maybe not so much
You could try to see the reaction video from halflifesista, and see how she( or both her and her husband)!
That is touching 🤗🤗
Nightwish show openers are something else. But you have other openers to come just as good or even better?
There's a movie that Tuomos made, connected with the same themes in this song. It's called "imaginarium", it's on youtube.
Love love love it!!! Man, John you sound like Marlon Brando sometimes! Really enjoy watching your enjoyment!
When this great song is the gig opener, you know you're in for an epic night...😁🤘
Hello from the Netherlands .
thanks for the video .
Sincerely, Hollandduck
Helluva show opener.
You guys ROCK!
What a way to start the Wacken 2013 set.
It will blow you away, I'm not sure if it's already been suggested to you 🖤
My personal preference for reactions is:
on cam: watch the vid
on cam: tiny first reaction
off cam: lyrics check and second watch,
on cam: react in depth showing some small clips from the vid.
You really should check out Phantom of the opera with Tarja now. It has come up to that...
this is how you open a show
Hey. You guys have a website?
You'll have to watch the Nightwish movie "Imaginaerium".
Great reaction again guys 👍
May I suggest that you check out the song Meadows of Heaven - it's a beautiful song that I think you'll enjoy and features second vocalist Annette Olzen. She isn't so great live but the two albums she did with the band are fantastic - as a result I recommend you watch the lyric video of the studio version, linked below 🤘
ua-cam.com/video/vxsjv6LtRz0/v-deo.html
Another good 1. Need some more Lovebites.
Oyeah The Lord answers prayers Always chrissy 🙏🏼..andemmm..You ll see Great changes next weeks months in this world with USA in front of it ✌🦁💎. Great positive changes 4 the people ..humanity....which means ... de devil ( corruption....child abuse and so on ) will come to an end 🌷💜💥
Please listen to Floors band before she joint Nightwish. The band is called Revamp and the song is Disdain from graspop 2010
