The best part of watching reactions to this show is how partway through the first season everybody is acting like the over-caffeinated detective standing in front of their murder-mystery board covered in red-string lines while trying to desperately - and sometimes not very coherently - explain the massive conspiracies that are tying everything together.
Something about this show gets people into conspiracy overdrive mode and they start theorizing some of the craziest and wildest stuff you've ever heard in your life and it's so fun to see where people's minds are going.

the way everyone starts off with the series expecting epic revenge story with cool fights and ends up theorising about evoporating blood and stuff is so fun to see.
My favorite theories are the ones involving aliens because that's what I was thinking for a good while.

While yes, your trying to be engaging for your audience but some of these folks just yell and scream "Brooooooooooooo" every 12 seconds. Hey guys, a little correction here about what already happened.
Armin's parents didn't die when the government sacrificed all those people, that was his Grandpa. He lost his parents before the wall was ever breached, but how or why will be shown in future episodes.

Actually, in episode 5, when Eren has his flashback just before going to save Armin, Armin says to Eren that his parents are planning to go exploring beyond the walls. So while we don't know exactly how they died (or IF they are really dead), we CAN surmise that they left beyond the walls, never returned, and are presumed dead.
Edit: since people keep on commenting this, I know we learn more concrete details later. I'm just describing what we would have known up to this point in the series, from a reactor's perspective.

@@petermartin6522 Actually no, they don't go over this in any OVA, it's mentioned in season 3 part 1 but without any actual names. They go into it in one of the short stories that are sold in manga box sets, there are some extra details about characters and backstories in those stories.

They were dead before the series started.
Armin's GRANDDAD died. You saw him give his hat to Armin in 1x02 before he left to his doom.

I have to be honest: I really dislike the fact that their patrons seemingly convinced them to not watch any of the intros past the first one, because of "muh spoilers". People who watched any of the OPs as the show was airing didn't get spoiled on any major twists or reveals, so it's annoying that now they keep new viewers from experiencing the hype these openings bring.
I really hope they reconsider this choice from Season 2 onward.
There are a lott of spoilers if you try to interpret details, you even see "certain things" ahead that still didn't show up in the episodes. A TON!

But I am not sure if that is a spoiler or not, so I think it is better if I don't say anything. Also they do talk about it explicitly later in the show. For now suffice to say that Erwin strongly suspects that is the case, so he only told his plan to the soldiers that have been with him for longer than 5 years. btw I am glad you are paying attentiont to the details, I can tell by your theories.
