When I first became aware of roof top tents I was very intrigued. But then I saw the prices. $1000-$2500 for a tent?! For the few times a year I use it, I'll just keep using my $100 tent and risk sleeping on the ground.
I agree they are expensive but I think if you are outdoors ALOT then it might be a good investment. 4 days at an outdoor event? a weekend at a race track? a week at a national park as a photographer? a weekend at a surf contest? A weekend at a bike race? Or in my case....cheaper than a hotel when filming youtube videos at shows all across the state. I could write it off in taxes too I think?
It's a game changer for us we are constantly in bear, wolf, cougar, wolverine country. The RTT buys you time...but if you don't go that deep into the wilderness maybe a tent is okay. It is super comfy we usually go for 4-5 days in all weather, including snow.
I couldn't believe it when I saw that one person tent, that's just the type of thing I want right now! To my surprise, frustration and increasing annoyance, after I'd used the link to their website I found that there was no trace of this tent whatsoever! I then googled their website and again found no trace of the tent! To have actually taken the tent to this show and set it up on a display vehicle to gain attention and interest, only to have no trace or mention of it on their own website beggars belief! After raising my interest, Thule then completely wasted my time by frustrating my efforts to get any information and availability from them! This in no way reflects on your excellent channel, I greatly appreciate you introducing me to this tent, as I was going to buy a long and narrow cargo roof box and make my own hard sided RTT.
Do they have a left handed and right handed version of the half tent? I'd like to run 2 half tents. For bros camping...or for when you and your chick get in a fight you can still kick her out.
Its a AutoHome Overcamp design rip-off. And its not on Thule's website probably because its a rip-off and they would be sued. Thule bought Tepui instead. So we wont ever see that tent you filmed. Unfortunately. Im sure it was a good quality tent.
This tent will be released this fall, the name is Thule Tepui Duo. SEMA is a tradeshow meaning you show products that are launching the following year, most of what you see will not be on the streets for 12 months.

If it saves you 1 hotel stay it pays for itself.
I live in the desert I rather get this!!!

Most backpacking pads are 20 inch wide. This looks over 40 inches wide so I think it could sleep 2.

Everyone is getting into the tent market cause it’s so expensive!!! They are profiting lots of cash for each one sold so easy choice for them

Just mount the door on the side you need it. No need for a right or left specific. You can flip the mount position.
