Hi Norm & Tina ! I’m also an expat Brit - moved to the USA in 1992. I can’t tell you how lovely it is to just hear common sense, real advice without feeling I need to take a night course to understand our impending retirement. PLEASE DON’T STOP putting out this fab content !! You’re keeping me sane xx
All great points, especially keeping fit, a walk every day is my main thing, ever an hour and a half or two hours in the summer, on the cold winter days I walk on my treadmill, gotta keep moving!! Have a great day!
Good stuff! we hear you a lot harder to walk in Winter I walk the appartment hallways or around the underground parking lot for fresh air .It’s a cold 🥶-12 and Windchill today Cheers 🍷🍺🙂
You are ahead of the game just by being aware of retirement, planning is the key to make things happen that benefit you. Thanks for watching we appreciate that.
Debt free, lost weight during lockdown and fit, has been in the process of decluttering for awhile. Hard to let go good quality stuff( which there is a market place to sell them), next question is when can I retire and where can I go? Thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom, Norm and Tina. Love to see a happy couple enjoying life together.
You are very welcome decluttering is hard we should of done way more than we did , we highly recommend taking early retirement if you can have a wonderful day Cheers 🍷🍁🍺
It took 6 mths to clear my parents items from the house they lived in for 40 years. Last year between moves everything we owned fit into a 15ft x 10ft storage space.
Sounds like a good plan hope you are both doing well things in 🇨🇦 Canada are getting a lot stricter with Covid restrictions how are they in Spain ? We think very soon we will be having a Curfew as our numbers keep going up in the wrong direction. Stay safe and well Cheers 🍷🙂🍺
@@mariaandbryan Wow have you seen the weather in Spain 🇪🇸 they have lots of snow ⛄️ ❄️and temps of -25 man that’s cold , hope you had a good flight back to the US 🤗🌺
@@ThisIsOurRetirement yes the snow was all over our IG feed as we have tons of family and friends in Madrid. The flight was great until we got to Atlanta 🤦🏻♀️ but we are good and healthy and we have been locked inside since Dec 2nd so we don't have to face people who don't follow common sense
When I was younger thinking of retirement was scarring me as been old woman. Then when I have organised my self and figured out that I don't have to work till retirement age I could not wait to resign and live my life. De clatter is always in Feng Shui as fresh start. De clatter is good only for people with out house. I need everything and I am using everything. Items I don't need I am giving to charity , but not stripping my home to empty walls as that would give me depression for sure and lonely times. I am not selling my house never ever =) Oh and I have never ever have credit card in my life, I have no debts my style of life is very organised =)
Hi Saba it’s funny as a while back I too thought you had to be old to retire (LOL) 😂then realized that wasn’t true and that you could take early retirement in our case in our 50s or even earlier if you could. We are so glad we took early retirement the last 5 years have given us such wonderful memories before Covid put a stop to travelling 🧳. You love your house and that is wonderful, you don’t need to give everything away just maybe don’t need as much stuff . Hope you are having a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🍺
I am with you on debt. I just turned fifty and am debt free including the mortgage. We haven't had car loans, student loans or credit card debt in twenty five years fee have always paid for home repairs and upgrades through savings Brent is a killer even before retirement. We only borrowed for cars, education and mortgage. Now we have none of that.
I moved a lot of stuff I have not used near my garage door. I called a charity that picked up goods and they hauled it away. Some people will be helped from the donations and I did not have to haul it. Win Win situation.
That is wonderful a win win you get rid of it and others love it 😍, it feels good giving to charity and helps you get rid of stuff no longer needed, we hope you are staying safe and keeping well have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🍺🙂
Great tips! Any suggestions for years of family pictures and how you edited them. I have many totes that i never look in and would like to deal with. Also when you decided to get fit did it include a diet as well as fitness goals. Could you share a bit of that. Thanks you have both given a lot to think about. New to channel so trying to catch up 🙂
@@ThisIsOurRetirement I agree with that philosophy but one qualification I'd make is that it doesn't make sense to use invested capital to pay off debt if the interest rate on the debt is lower than the rate of return on the capital (taking taxes into consideration of course). Rates of returns these days, especially on the kinds of investments preferred by retirees, do tend to be lower than most interest rates but there can be exceptions.
You two are such an inspiration! My husband and I are hooked on the “Tina & Norm Show” and have been working our way through your channel during our current lockdown in Halifax. Great practical info on retirement, finances, and travel. Portugal is definitely on our bucket list of places to see post-pandemic.
@@ThisIsOurRetirement We love our province. If there’s any place to ride out a pandemic, Nova Scotia is it for us, not that we had a choice! Would love to buy you a pint next time you’re in our neck of the woods. Of course that would be a wine for you, Tina. ;)
Good advice and greetings from Houston, TX where we escape the summer heat. Looking to travel again this summer... Finally. Thanks for your contributions and advice. I enjoy watching your posts and I am sure they are helping many retirees. Keep it up.
I have 10 more shifts to work before I join my wife and retire completely. I have a garage full of books, 45s and LPs that I need to get rid of, so that is my first job, especially with us all been in lockdown in the UK. We have been lucky enough to be free of owning anybody anything (except the car) for over 10 years and as hiking is my hobby....Must admit, we are fair weather hikers and campers, so bring on the summer! Cheers Alan
Hi Alan wow 🤩 that’s awesome countdown 10 shifts to go🍺 we wish you a great retirement, oh we have totes full of LPs 💿as well , we never play them as all our music sounds great from the TV or from our” Alexa “. We prefer Summer to Winter as well and are counting the days to going to our new trailer . We hope you are staying safe and have a great weekend Cheers 🍺🍷🥳
Ok, you guys are THE CUUUUUTEST!! I just found you and subscribed right away. Thank you especially for the advice in this video that you've given to us in our mid-40s. I hear you and I'm taking notes on what to do now to set ourselves up in future! My husband is Canadian and we dream about retiring there. Your channel couldn't have come across my feed at a better time. All the best, stay safe and well!
That’s great welcome to our channel, glad you enjoyed it 🇨🇦 Canada is a great place to retire we love it . Hope you are having a great Valentine’s weekend Cheers 🍷❤️🍺🙂
The problem with retirement is the lack of weekends, holidays and overtime LOL I am the one who just might need something. I am getting better. Take care and stay safe.
Hi Dave we know what you mean the days and weekends blend together especially with this Covid , we do try hard to go for a daily walk and always seem to remember 4.00 is Happy Hour 😂hope you are having a great weekend Cheers 🍷🍺🙂
One thing that is impeding me from retirement is the lock-down. Not much point, I figure, when I can't travel, go out to many places locally or even meet a friend for coffee. Suggestion: How about a video on making the most of retirement during the lock-down?
Even though we can’t travel internationally it is amazing what you can do locally, we have just bought a trailer which will be permanently on a Lakeside Campground about two hours from our home.We will spend the summer with all new adventures locally to it an area we don’t know at all . Have a great weekend Cheers 🌺🍺🍷
Decluttering- an ongoing process. We decluttered 6 years ago, moving from a 3 story home to an apartment. Wonderful. And yes, we have been decluttering still. Not only is it important to keep mobile but to also work on the muscle tone by doing set exercises at least 2x a week. I'm in a program where I can follow the exercises online using a set of elastic stretch bands and floor exercises to keep my muscle tone and strength in arms and legs, back and tummy area at as high a level as possible. We live on the 3rd floor and use the stairs at all times ( except with the load of weekly groceries). So glad we did 'the shift' in both our 60th year. You have highlighted some excellent pointers. Onward to a healthier 2021. Keep safe. 👍 ❤️🌷🙋♀️ 🙏
Lovely to hear from you thanks for dropping by looks as if we are a lot alike, we moved 5 years ago from our house to our appartment here. We are on the 8th floor (with a lovely lake view)and take the stairs down when we go walking but the elevator on the way back 😂 It is very important to look after your health, we have bought a trailer so will be staying there as our cottage as well as here . We wish you Health and Happiness and a great better 2021 , stay safe ATB Hugs 🤗 Cheers 🍷🤗🍺🌺🥳
Hey Tina and Norm! YES... We totally can imagine that retirement is the best job ever! We are looking forward to it. It's too funny that you guys watched the movie "The Minimalist".. we watched it a few days ago too, and it was such a great movie. We are already getting rid of extra things around the house and like you mentioned... it's important to declutter, especially if you're downsizing. Garage sales are perfect to get rid of extra things. We agree with Norm, the more clutter in the house, the more mental clutter you have to deal with too. Getting rid of debt is important as well, as it adds so much stress and anxiety if you have it. We are very fortunate to be debt free, besides monthly expenses like rent and utilities. That's a big reason we don't buy a house, instead we rent. So not so much debt is on our shoulders. We like what you said on getting in shape as health must always be number 1 in your life. Without that we have nothing. Congrats on your new camera and new couch! It's always nice when you can get a few new things you have been wanting. Great video and love you guys to the mother effin' moon! :) 💋😊😘🤗🌛💖
You guys are awesome we love hearing from you , fancy us all watching the same movie 🎥 on that note we watched Nomadland with Francis McDermot that was an interesting 🧐 one check it out. Well didn’t know that you also rented ( great to see we are all on the same page ) Isn’t it great just rent and Utilities awesome 👏. So we are back to decluttering too , we have totes we have to get rid of not sure why we ever brought them in the first place 😂😂 We hope you are having a great weekend stay safe and keep well love you both 🤗🍷🍺Norm and Tina x
@@ThisIsOurRetirement We are going to watch Nomadland as well... we just haven't had the time yet... but it's on our list.. We are super excited.. as one of the people on YT we have been watching for years is on there.. RV Bob!.. his channel is CheapRVLiving he is awesome and interviews so many nomads on the road. By totes.. do you mean purses that Tina bought, or tote containers? LOLOL
@@bearsandbutters They are tote containers 😂contrary to most women I have very few purses in fact really only have travel ones with special security things on them . We will check out RV Bob have a great week Cheers 🍷🍺🌺
You are a delightful couple, Just came across your channel & could not agree more about retirement, best job in the world. And like you, I wonder how I ever had the time to work I am so busy. I could not retire as early as you did, but urge others to plan and save so they can. Age creeps up on you and it is easier to travel the younger you are, but that hasn’t slowed me down ..yet. Now, if the Covid-19 would just leave us alone, .
Thank you so much! we too are enjoying our retirement very much and yes travelling is easier when you are younger we are so glad we did so much in the last 5 years before Covid . Hope you have a great week Cheers 🍷🍺🌺
Love that it's 3 points! #1 Declutter! Love it. Love the thought of really feeling free from all of the 'stuff' that builds up over time. #2 Remove debt - such a great point! How freeing to be clear of any debt! #3 get into shape! WOW 3 great points! Really insightful to be mindful of what is important and focusing on getting things cleaned up and prepared! I love points on how to be financially and physically fit! Thank you so much! You hit it out of the park with this video! Great job! Donovan and Jodi
Yes! Thank you! in telling our story we hope it makes it easier for others to get a plan together. Enjoyed joining your live stream the other night , hope you are both well and have a great week Cheers 🍷🍺
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Love your videos! It is like visiting with friends. You could also do videos with no specific topic other than telling your friends what you have been up to recently… like writing a letter home
Hi, I like watching your videos! Please keep it up! Could you please talk about your daily routine as retired people? What keeps you busy? My fear is that I might end up depressed when I retired, no longer useful in society, etc. Thanks!
Hi Thanks for watching going into retirement we viewed it as a new chapter in our lives . We are kept very busy doing UA-cam, stock photos and videos, walking , swimming (the pool is closed with Covid restrictions) coffee mornings etc. In the last 5 years we have travelled a lot and have wonderful memories, with Covid International travel is on hold, but we have bought a trailer to go for the summer we can go in May so looking forward to that. You start to take on a different feeling of doing things for you not an employer , as we live in an appartment when you go in the elevator you can say hi to people and it’s really nice. Hope that helps you, don’t fear retirement think of it as new and wonderful chapter in your life . Have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🍺🙂
Last Spring during the Pandemic the Saving Rate went WAY UP! WHY! You were not spending money on Frivolous things. So the point being you don't need a lot of stuff Good Video
Is that the Canon EOS RP (Retired Photographer) model? ;-) Great channel. I've just handed in my retirement notice and we sold our house in February. Portugal sounds great. We love your channel because, so far we've done most of the things you're recommending. Put some of the money from the house sale into dividend yielding, aristocrat stocks. Now we're working on the physical fitness part. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for visiting our channel, yes we recently got the Canon RP with the kit lens and adapter for the EF lenses, as I have some L glass from an older Canon 5D MK2. We are really enjoying the camera, video modes are a bit limited but we prefer the colour science of Canon over Sony or Panasonic (We had a GH4). It sounds like you have taken retirement seriously and done all the right things, we are pleased it is working for you. The biggest weight loss we did was cutting out prepared food and sauces that contained sugar, there is a movie maybe on Netflix called the sugar movie, very interesting. Thanks again for watching our videos we really appreciate it.
I really like what you said. I decided to declutter after I retired and my goodness, it has become an anxiety to do so. It is really a lot of work and is a bummer to say the least. I have not been ruthless, but I'm trying. For me it is the paperwork that we are required to keep for financial reasons. I don't trust computers, and the reason is, my computer was hacked. So keeping financial info in digital form is not a good idea for me. Decluttering has become a nightmare and a negative, which has put a dent in my otherwise pleasant retirement. It has been a year now, and at first I was doing good, then laziness set in, and I stopped. But when I look around, all I see are piles of unfinished 'clearing out' projects that have now become overwhelming. Good advice, start early as possible clearing out, even if you don't plan on retiring. It's good, either way for your life. Ms. L. Churchill
Hi Les decluttering is not a race so don’t worry about it , we have been in our appartment for 5 years now and still have lots of decluttering to do we still have many Totes full of stuff we thought we needed LOL 😂😂when we sold the house and moved here . But main thing is enjoy each day and in our case happy hour is great 🍷🍺🙂
Scanning all the documents you want to keep and save it on a encrypted USB driver, keep it with your Will and make sure to write the encryption code in your will and other documents.
My darling bride and I are 8 years and 9 months away (but who’s counting) and we’ve found your videos inspiring, especially because you are currently living the life we’re planning! We’ve been actively decluttering and getting our finances prepared to sell the house, rent in southern Ontario and winter in Portugal (we’re Portuguese) even the RV is something we’ve discussed! Your videos are fantastic because they prove our plans are realistic and doable! Maybe we’ll run into you sometime in Portugal or on an Ontario day trip! Thank you and please keep putting out content! If I can make a suggestion for next time you get to Portugal, check out the cathedral in the town of Batalha and Coimbra University. Breathtaking architecture!
Wow sounds like a great plan 🤩and we know it will work because we have done it LOL 😂😂 Canada 🇨🇦 is gorgeous in the summer we love it but it is nice to go away in 🥶 Winter and leave the snow ❄️⛄️behind and have warmer weather. Thanks for the suggestion of Coimbra we haven’t visited there yet .You will find time goes very quickly as you approach retirement, we wish you well and a happy retirement, we are busy making more videos a new one out tomorrow 11.45 am .Have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🇵🇹🙂🇨🇦🍺
We seem to be suspended in time. Our early retirement got of to a great start but then came COVID 19. We are doing everything we can to be ready to restart our lives again after the UK lockdown which is likely to last until April. 😟 stay warm and stay safe 👍🏻🚐 Trev n Sue
Hi Trev and Sue we hear you things are on hold with Covid , our Lockdown isn’t as bad as yours but still bad enough to hamper things . With our early retirement we would of been in Portugal 🇵🇹 now but not this year , we are enjoying your Norfolk series as we lived there and our daughter was born in Norwich hospital 🏥. We are trying really hard to be positive and make the most of what we can do , have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🍺🌺🇨🇦
Definitely need to prepare for retirement! Declutter..... need lots of advise on this one LOL... and January is always a good time to work on that one. ear the clutter DOES clear your mind! And we really need to focus on the get in shape!! ~ Brad and Diana
Hi Brad and Diana yes the new year is a good time to declutter , and we still have some of that to do . Hope you are both staying safe and keeping well enjoy your weekend Cheers 🍷🍺
Happy New Year Friends!! To your point, I decluttered (got rid of everything!!) as soon as I decided I was going to move overseas. What an amazingly freeing experience. "Our stuff seemed to have stuff" - LOL.
Hi Jen hope you are well and enjoyed your trip and stay with your daughter , wow we still have some decluttering to do 😂😂are you still planning to retire in Portugal 🇵🇹? We hope you are staying safe and keeping well we wish you a great New Year 🥳🥂🎊with Health and Happiness Cheers 🍷🍺🤗
Hi Norm and Tina. I agree completely with you. Declutter, get Debt free and exercise is very important for a retiree. That’s exactly what I’m preparing. And also thinking in selling our condo and put that money in investment funds that could give us dividends that can complement our pensions. That’s amazing see you guys so happy and so well even on these troubled times. Keep up the excellent tips videos. Cheers!
Thank you, our outlook is to make the best of what we have, no use getting down about staying home, it's given us the opportunity to keep interacting with other people like you. We don't think people come to UA-cam to here about other peoples problems, we all have enough of our own lol 😀😀 We are glad you visited us and enjoyed our video, keep safe and well and have a good positive week!
Hello you two! Great advice, we downsized last year and cleared clutter...but still could do with getting rid of more...so I'm ticking off number 1. When we downsized, we paid off our debt, ticking off number 2! As for number 3? That is a work in progress, could definitely do with losing some pounds! Since lockdown I'm afraid we have been comforting eating! Hoping we can turn this around as totally agree with you on this!!! Yes, definitely too cold to walk today...minus 7 here in Scotland and everywhere too icy to walk. We do not want to be going to our overrun hospitals with broken bones! I'm so looking forward to clocks changing and Spring. Keep well friends! Xx
Hello Deborah, You are doing great with the “list” we agree with the comfort food (wine), but spring will be here soon with more opportunities for safe walking. Agree on staying away from hospitals at all costs, we really feel for all the front line workers. Thanks for watching it’s always great to hear from you, stay safe and well.
What great information! We decluttered right after we retired. So...much....stuff! We have gotten rid of so much! Being debt free is so very important when goin into retirement. Thanks so much for sharing!
Good morning ☕️ We sound very similar, isn’t it amazing how much stuff you actually accumulate but don’t need (LOL)😂 thanks for dropping by hope you are both well and enjoy your weekend Cheers 🍷🍺
Not sure how your channel appeared in my feed but glad it did. I’ve really enjoyed your videos. I’m turning 55 this year all you’ve shared has been very helpful.🇨🇦
We’re 2 months from retiring. We turn 64 this year and have had enough of working. I totally agree with you about paying off debt. I live in the US. Health care is such a big issue here if you’re not old enough for Medicare. I love your videos
Good morning ☕️ we wish you a great retirement 🙂, Canada 🇨🇦 and the USA 🇺🇸 have gone in different directions one higher taxes one higher healthcare costs 🧐 glad you are enjoying our videos hope you have a wonderful day Cheers 🙂🍷🍺
Enjoying your video's very much. Wife and I F.I.R.E.' D 14 years ago and still enjoying our health and retirement. Great suggestions on this video, however we still need to do a better job decluttering our home. : )
Thank you so much for those great videos and advises, the informations that you provide true real life experience is priceless and so inspiring. You are a fantastic couple!
"I thought you were going rid of me" hahahaha Decluttering is indeed a hard task, requires patience 100% We sold everything we could and we also still have some stuff left lol
It is very hard to declutter everything because you still think deep down that you will one day need it , need to take the minamilist approach and have very little 🍷🍺if you can 🙂
My partner and I discovered your videos a few months ago and we have really found them very helpful and informative. Like many, Covid has put a tremendous financial strain on our potential livelihood in the US, which has forced us to consider selling our home and research retiring early in Spain. Your videos have helped guide us in making some of our own planning decisions for the move. We have spent months paying off debt and are now going through the process of donating many unused items to clear our home. You also inspired me to begin shooting my own content to document the process and hope to start a UA-cam channel about our experience this year. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching and we do hope things start to go better for you , that is tough when this Pandemic is forcing financial hardship . We wish you well with your plans to retire in Spain , let us know your You Tube channel we would love to see it sounds a great idea to document it. We weren’t doing You Tube when we started our retirement process, we just did it two years ago in Portugal 🇵🇹 so we could remember our trips (LOL)😂 We hope you are staying safe and keeping well and have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🍺
Congrats on the new camera, Lieles also got a new canon, the C70 for him. RP is awesome! Stay safe couple! Today is the most important day of our lives
Just watching your video (and just subscribed, discovered you today) and "your cluster" is really a big and important issue. We are 3 years shy to retire and the last 2, 3 years we're getting rid of some with a lot yet to but still buying things. México, Spain and Portugal are our aims not sure yet where. You're doing a great job, I'm enjoying watching your comments.
Thanks for watching and welcome to our channel, it does take time to get rid of stuff 3 years to go will go really fast . We hope you are staying safe and keeping well have a great week Cheers 🍷🙂🍺
I really like your point about losing weight and keeping fit before retirement. Also like your suggestion to get rid of things. I recently sold a bunch of things in my basement and invested the money. It feels SO great!
I have recently discovered your channel and really appreciate the insight and opinion you offer. I find you really speak to the AVERAGE retired Canadian which is extremely refreshing compared to other channels on UA-cam. A new video i would like to see your opinion on is how covid has effected your financial situation and future plans for when we can return to "normal". Keep the videos coming. THANKS from Winnipeg
Welcome aboard! It’s great to have you on our channel, thanks for your kind words. We try and speak to ourselves so we understand the concepts simply. We also believe some financial planners over complicate retirement savings and over exaggerate the capital needed. Your suggestion is great, it has got us thinking how we can make a video about the impact of Covid, watch this space lol. We are certainly hoping for a return to normal while we are still fit enough to travel. Have a great weekend, we are getting a cold snap and snow in Southwestern Ontario at the moment.
Love this channel! Could you share your eating habits , how you prepare meal etc . We should be retiring soon, I’m trying to simplify our meals so I will have a better idea how much we will need to budget for food . Thank you
TFW glad you are enjoying our channel, generally with food we eat three meals a day but we have smaller portions and lots of Vegetables. Try to not have cookies , chips and other snacks in the house as they put weight on . When things are on sale we stock up and that saves money 💰 as well . Hope you are well and wish you a great weekend Cheers 🍷🍺🙂
Awesome tips and yes credit card debt can break your back. Great job on the excercizinng and congrats with the new camera amd sofa. I wish you all the best for this year. You deserve it. Loads of love from South Africa.

Hi Norm and Tina! You have gotten to accustomed to the Portugal life weather. 😀 Lots of great points there. Especially #3 I have found that since having our dog I get a lot outside exercise! Have a great day!
Hi Chris good morning ☕️Yes as a preference walking on the beach 🏖 with blue skies is good but not this year , although we have just heard it’s really 🥶 cold there and they got snow ⛄️ so we will enjoy here. Having a dog 🐶 is forced exercise which is great . Have a great weekend TFW Cheers 🍷🍺
I'm 47 years old and already got rid of 50% of what I own. I kept the essentials... beautiful and well-made furniture, so I don't plan to buy anymore. Maybe ever! Moving to the countryside where people dress in practical clothing and no one cares about brands and fashion. So I can really earn and keep my living expenses to 10% of my gross income.
Congrats you two! You both are wonderful! 💕💐 I'm your audience (in my mid 40s) but you really have a wide range of years for an audience. Good 'retirement' job. I'm working on all those three points you mentioned! Challenging! 😜 But I agree, good to do! I am being patient with my 'progress'! 💪 😊 It wasn't lost on me the de-cluttering talk and finishing with saying a new couch and camera was purchased! 😉 Cute! Useful stuff for sure. 📸🛋️ An investment in what you're doing.

@@ThisIsOurRetirement Thanks. As a Canadian who has spent the past decade overseas (Japan), I’m wondering what my tax implications will be when I eventually want to claim CPP, OAS, etc.
It depends as do you work for a Canadian company ? you need to pay into CPP for a period of years , to get OAS you have to be living in Canada 🇨🇦 hope that helps Cheers 🌺
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Thanks. I worked in Canada for about 25 years before coming here. So I paid into CPP and pensions for years. I don’t work for a Canadian company here, though. Can ex-pats not get OAS?
@@RockPopMandolin You have to have lived in Canada for 20 years after the age of 18 to get OAS paid overseas otherwise no, but if you move back to Canada they will start paying it. We are not experts so you should maybe look at Revenue Canada website for clarity.
All we can say is it’s great , so glad we took early retirement we have had so many wonderful memories before Covid restrictions took over. But really looking forward to 2021 , we wish you well when you retire Cheers 🍷🍺
We were so pleased to see your new camera, great minds think alike. We are really liking ours as we bought it for UA-cam videos and as a travel camera for stock video/photography.
Congratulations but one thing people who I know are retired, they say they are super bored after 2 months of the same thing. LOL. BTW, Happy New Year 2021 my friends. 🎊🎉🎁👍
TFW and Happy New Year 🥳🥂🎊guess it can be different for people, some might get bored 🧐but life is what you make of it .Our last 5 years has been travelling all over the place which was very exciting , and we have just bought a trailer that will be our cottage so really looking forward to summer. In fact we are so busy not sure how we found time to go to work(LOL)😂 Have a great week Cheers 🍷🍺
I hear the opposite. My dad retired at 61 and spent 24 years retired. What I heard from him and many other retirees I've known is "I don't know how I did all this before I retired". My dad always had projects on the go (building stuff, fixing things, gardening, beekeeping, hunting, etc). He never had a bored moment. My mom retired at 62 (she's younger than dad, so she worked about 10 years after he retired). She also keeps busy and enjoys travel, swimming with her friends, socializing, etc. She's now 82 and I don't think she's ever been bored in her 20 years (so far) of retirement. You really need to have outside interests. Life isn't just about doing your paid job. I have never made work my life. I guarantee I won't be bored once I retire.
Suggestion- It might be helpful to suggest how people should prepare financially for the possibly one partner has to go into costly long term care and the other is left in an apartment. John Ontario Canada
There are insurance policies available or if you already had critical care insurance while working some policies at retirement can be converted to long term stay insurance. Other than that it’s allocating assets to that use. Another great excuse for having a healthy diet and regular exercise.
@@ThisIsOurRetirement I’m not sure if we are on the same page. If you are 75 years old and one party needs to go into a nursing home because of Alzheimer’s, I believe there is no insurance to cover this. You would only get this paid by the government if you had no money in the bank or investments. Your current apartment rent & costs would be the ongoing responsibility of the other partner. If there is insurance to cover what you are saying, I would be interested in what you would pay for it. Do you have a policy that’s ongoing from your employer? Hi, We enjoy your videos! I recently watched one of your videos where you staying in a hotel that had a kitchen in the room(I think from 2020). I have looked and tried to find it again, as info for the winter of 2021-22. any info would be helpful Thanks
Hi thanks for watching we stayed at the Luna Solaqua very nice place , very quiet in Winter months not many people there but nice place very handy to grocery stores and easy walk to the beach . Have a great week Cheers 🍷🍺🌺
Such helpful tips as we are beginning our planning. I think we should sell our house, hubby thinks renting. We already have a legal basement apartment and he thinks to rent the remainder of the house? We have a company that takes care of collecting rent for us and communicating with tenant. Thoughts?
It seems like a good solution, our only thoughts when we were property owners and considering selling and renting was, renting frees up our capital to earn money around 5% on dividends plus capital appreciation, this has funded extensive travel for us. Secondly there is a risk to your savings being a property owner of “unexpected” expenditures and ongoing maintenance. Very quickly the $20 to $50 Home Depot trips add up invisibly over the year to quite a large $. That’s why we sold and in 5 years have not paid one penny in maintenance. Thanks for the question and best of luck with your planning.
Thank you you might like to take a look at today’s video , our first trip to USA 🇺🇸 from 🇨🇦 Canada have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
@@ThisIsOurRetirement oh wow definitely will watch for that ! Cheers you two !!
Good advice as usual. We are mid-50’s and it is always good to hear wisdom from those ahead of us!
That’s awesome we hear lots of stories about how long it took to clear parents houses , we think we did our kids a favour LOL 😂😂Cheers 🍷🍺🇨🇦
Agree, we don't need it, if you don't use it at least once a month, you do not need it

Thanks for watching Debt free is awesome, we hope you are both staying safe and keeping well have a great weekend Cheers 🍺🍷🌺

New to channel so trying to catch up 🙂
Sound advice..pay off as many debts as possible especially your mortgage...
We believe being debt free in retirement is one way of reducing the fear of retirement, thanks so much for watching.
@@robertpearson8798 Our story is when you retire clear all your debts to make life simple and stress free , don’t carry debt 🍷🙂

I have 10 more shifts to work before I join my wife and retire completely.
"Clear the clutter....Clear the mind!"
Great saying thanks for watching Cheers 🌺🍺🍷
Well didn’t know that you also rented ( great to see we are all on the same page )
Isn’t it great just rent and Utilities awesome 👏.
So we are back to decluttering too , we have totes we have to get rid of not sure why we ever brought them in the first place 😂😂

I'm binge watching your videos!! Love you guys. :)
Thanks so much Judi glad you are enjoying them Cheers 🍷😎🌺
The cost to rent your storage bin may be more than the stuff you keep in it.
That’s true that’s why we will keep our apartment Cheers 🍺🍷🌺

We always like hearing from you, thank you for your support... go Steelers 🏈
Great advise thanks
You are welcome thanks for dropping by have a great week Cheers 🙂🍷🍺🌺
Awesome tips and yes credit card debt can break your back. Great job on the excercizinng and congrats with the new camera amd sofa. I wish you all the best for this year. You deserve it. Loads of love from South Africa.
Hi Violet thanks for watching, credit card debt can run up really fast 💨 that’s true. We hope you are staying safe and well and having a nice weekend despite all this lockdown stuff , Take Care hugs from Canada 🇨🇦 🍷🌺
The only debt I have is my house. Going to sell that soon and have NO debt! Not sure what my next move is but I’m going to live the simple life!!!
That’s great 🍷🌺
Hi Norm and Tina!
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Wow! Snow there eh! anything is possible!
@@ChrisR_72 Life is very unpredictable like the weather so as they say relax and have another drink Cheers 🍷🍺
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Ok I'm on it!
Great points thank you guys
Thanks for watching!
😊 It wasn't lost on me the de-cluttering talk and finishing with saying a new couch and camera was purchased! 😉 Cute! Useful stuff for sure. 📸🛋️ An investment in what you're doing.
We are so glad you enjoy our videos and we are glad to have you watching our channel. Great that you are getting into planning mode. Have a great day! 😀😀👍

I “rewire” in 4 weeks! Praise God! Good advice, well delivered - thank you! I forget: where do you live?
Thank you, we live in Canada

@@stevefranks1711 We wish it could be better for you too 🙂
Hi you two. Glad to see you are well and still enjoying retirement

Hi. So good to see you both and that you're doing well. We are in complete lockdown and numbers are so high. Scary . So you brightened my day. Thanks. Stay safe and cosy. Look forward to seeing you soon. Best wishes for a good day 🙏🍻🏴
Hi Carol ☕️yes we have seen the news with you about your lockdowns, they are way more strict than ours. Our numbers are going in the wrong direction too 😱it’s a crazy scary world 🌎 at the moment. We are doing our best to exercise and keep positive and we hope that 2021 as a year will improve for us all.
We hope you are keeping well and have a nice weekend keep warm Cheers 🍷🍺🇨🇦
Very good job my dears friends 👍👌, big like from edu😁
Hi Edu glad you liked it TFW hope you are well have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🍺
Hey guys! Enjoy your videos. Wondering if you could do one on taxes relating to ex-pat Canadians, or to Canadians who want to retire overseas. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion Cheers 🍺🌺🍷
I'm ready for the best job ever 😀
All we can say is it’s great , so glad we took early retirement we have had so many wonderful memories before Covid restrictions took over.
But really looking forward to 2021 , we wish you well when you retire Cheers 🍷🍺
thanks
No problem

This is a great video! I THOUGHT that footage was looking a bit spectacular. Looks great.
We were so pleased to see your new camera, great minds think alike. We are really liking ours as we bought it for UA-cam videos and as a travel camera for stock video/photography.
It's bad that I am wishing my life away to reach retirement! Haha, I'm only joking but always great to see your videos guys. Happy new year!!! Gary.
Hi Gary thanks for dropping by we hope you have a very Happy New Year 🥳🥂🎊stay safe and keep well have a great week Cheers 🍺🍷🙂
In fact we are so busy not sure how we found time to go to work(LOL)😂
Have a great week Cheers 🍷🍺
Thank you for all of the great tips! Have a great weekend!
Thanks for watching we hope you are staying safe and keeping well have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍺🍷🌺
Great advice! Thank you.
You are so welcome! Hope you are well have a great week Cheers 🌺🍷🍺
Suggestion- It might be helpful to suggest how people should
prepare financially for the possibly one partner has to go into costly long term care and the other is left in an apartment. John
Ontario Canada
Diet: I’m like you, I weigh 157 lbs but I’m 76. I had a non-repairable damaging heart attack 6 months ago. Prior to the attack, all my health markers were deemed ok before the attack and I was on no drugs. I was on a ‘heart healthy’ diet but as you get older as the cardiologist said, “things happen”.
Do you come from Cheshire way ...Crewe maybe..
Very good!
This is what I'm afraid of...letting things go...I've started already so I'm doing good.🤣
Great video !!!
Stay safe my dear friends.
Thank you! You too! have a great weekCheers 🍷🌺🍺
Hi Guys, love this. I'm a CFP and have been is business for 30 plus years however I have learned so much from you both.

We think the camera is helping us look good (LOL)😂, hope you are keeping well and have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🍺
I'm all inspired now, thanks!
Mission accomplished 😀😀
Can you imagine if we could retire first and then work??
I don't think most of us would retire from retirement lol
Hi guys if we had retired first we definitely wouldn’t have wanted to go to work (LOL) 😂😂
Beautiful beautiful video
Thanks so much for watching have a great week Cheers 🍷🍺🌺
