Hey Dave--think you had it bad? I had Tourette's, Asperger's, narcolepsy, and rotten teeth. In second grade a mob of kids (literally) would chase me home from school yelling "hey rotten teeth!" while throwing rocks at me, punching me, and knocking my schoolbooks on the ground. Imagine that life.

He was kicked out of Metallica because he basically did not know how to socialize as a young adult. He though being an asshole was showing friendship....it must have taken him a long time to learn how to get along with others. I have a lot in common with Dave in growing up alienated; it took me a long time to learn to be social and I did a lot of awkward things I thought might be cool or funny and regretted later. I was raised as a jahovahs witness and can attest to everything he said. I was lucky that my dad was Catholic and put his foot down over Christmas, which my brother and I always got to celebrate with the rest of the family who weren't religious at all really. Meeting twice a week for 3 hours a time, Saturday morning bible study with one of the elders, Sunday morning meeting at the Kingdom Hall followed by another Bible study all afternoon with one of the older kids. Wasn't allowed to watch anything remotely sexual, with bad language, or even mild violence until I was around 16 and basically couldn't be stopped anymore by law. I wasn't allowed around girls, full stop. I remember my mum going mad because she found out I had a girlfriend when I was 16 going on 17. As a kid I was constantly scared of god and satan finding out I I did or thought something "bad", like lying to my mum about brushing my teeth or if I'd go to bed without saying my prayers. I was terrified Satan was going to come in my room at night, posses me, and make me do bad things. I was pushed into believing that allowing worldly ideas into my head was allowing Satan into my head. And that Satan wants me to do bad things against gods will so he can get closer to me and make me do more bad stuff. I literally went to bed scared his evil demon spirit was going to sneak through my window and possess me like a puppet and make me do all the evil stuff he supposedly loves people doing. I was 5 years old... who the fuck teaches that to a child? Then when I left at 16 and my mum couldn't legal make me doing anything the other member tried to encourage her to distance herself from me. Madness. She also left shortly after the told her to disown her own son at 16.

@@Ozzmosisf35 I'm not religious but you have to be very stupid to think every religion is a cult. There are differences between a cult and a religion. I agree that one sounds like a cult but not every religion is the same. I was raised in Catholicism and my family and I were very "free". Now I'm not into religion anymore but I can tell you Jehovah's witness are something different.

Hey I Love this guy haven't seen him or Pam [his wife] or James his rehab-buddy for a few years, but last time we went it it was cool and he just picked up the tab. He was cool and his family and James too. I hope they are doing well. The last time I saw them though I was broken-down due to the death of my beloved Fiancee' who was and is Wonderful. She was from Bosnia. I miss everything about her.

For someone like Dave Mustaine to go through all the shit that he went through in his life stuff like that would normally drive a person to either go to jail or commit suicide. But that’s the thing I feel like if Dave did not have music in his life he probably would’ve end up dead or in jail. Like honestly God bless him he truly seems like a driven determined person and that’s what kept him alive all these years and not only that but his passion for what he does.

Amen, Dave. My whole family is breaking my heart too on their way too hell. They are all Christian Scientists but at 49 I found my own way to the foot of the cross and was born again. Having the Holy Spirit onboard was an unexpected, staggering and beautiful honor! I never did care much for Metallica but I am a life long Budgie fan. Burke Shelly was sort of a pastor to me in high school. Although I didn't know the Gospel I did have a fascination with the Bible and somehow I formed an attachment toBurke's lyrics as they were so mysterious, beautiful and somewhat biblical. I know James Hetfield was raised in the same CS cult that I was and he was the only other person I had heard of that was into Budgie besides me. Now I am 59 and I still listen to Budgie a lot and Megadeth a little more.
