Hate is a very strong & negative emotion which should be frowned upon. I would never say I hate Lars cos I don’t personally know him, but he just isn’t my favourite Metallica member.
Lars gave me a drumset through the make a wish foundation when i was 15. A complete replica of his sparkle green Tama starclassic. Not only that but signed a bunch of merch and sent me tickets to see Metallica and godsmack in san José. Unfortunately i missed my chance to meet him and the band. His assistant arranged for me and my family to meet him however we missed the phone call during the show. I never asked Metallica or lars for anything. Lars along with the make a wish team built this drumset for me. Now 33 and cancer free its one of my most prized possessions. Pretty good dude in my book.
I think it's even moor ridiculous how Tommy was playing with a back track on tour... BUT THEN SAY THAT LARS COULDN'T KEEP A BEAT??? REALLY???? WELL I GUESS YOU WOULDN'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT ANY OF THAT.... YOU KNOW.... KEEPING A BEAT THING.... IF YOUR PLAYING ON TOP OF A BACK TRACK????
I can appreciate what he's done for the band on Metallica's early records but at the same time personality wise he just always struck me as a diva and egotistical prick
You gotta love to hate Lars. That simple. I had a cat as a kid in 1991. I named it Lars. My favorite Metallica member. That cat literally lost its mind and attacked all my friends when they came over. It got so bad nobody would ever come over unless I locked Lars in a room first 😆 looking back he was just like the real Lars. Very controlling and when he wanted something he would go after it claws first.
I cant remember reading, or hearing, that Lars was very controlling. To be that way in a band would be next to impossible with Hetfield in the band. Ive never heard that ether about James... When James and Lars are the meat and potatoes... nobody has to be controlling, people just know.
@@bobabooey4537 you do know Lars get writing credits for songs he never wrote a word 2. Dave won't let his songs be put on any future Metallica releases cause he won't agree to give Lars credit and Lars won't agree without getting credit. Just 1 small example. But his fingerprints are on anything related to the band. Yes he's co founder but he is controlling. Whether or not he's right or wrong isnt my point
@@truthseeker2466 he didnt write the songs but he arranged the songs. Watch any metallica making of video and you are gonna see how much work he puts in even tho he doesnt actively write the songs. That is exactly the conflict with mustaine as he doesnt see it as contributing probably more out of spite then reason knowing mustaine.
I kind of miss the old days when you enjoyed a band for their music, and there wasn't stuff all over the internet about what they eat, or how crappy a person they are. When I listen to Metallica I enjoy the music. I'm not thinking about Lars being a dick.
Too true man too many people yapping about one and other like we've only seen one bit of what goes on doesn't mean that's what there like all the time like such bull shit how people judge people without really knowing them
I met him after a show on the Justice tour. He was cool and casual like any of us average headbangers that were hanging out. It wasn't a meet and greet, he was just waiting around until it was time to head to the next town and was glad to chat.
James has admitted he was the issue so don't care what the video states. James DID NOT want anyone in the band to have a solo career. After Jason quit he started to understand his controlling issues and has lightened up on this issue
@@Heavi yes Jason N had some really hard feelings and bitterness to James and Lars 20 odd yrs ago, but do you really think he is harbouring a grudge now?
During the Midwest leg of the 'And Justice for All' tour in 88 I hung out with Jason. Here are two things I noticed- He never wanted to hang out with Lars. And when Ulrich blessed us with his presence, he had an 'Entourage' around him at all times and he acted like a TOTAL TOOL.
Funny, because that whole Jason bit, in the past, it was said by sources that Hetfield was the one in Jason's face about side projects, said he was just drunk and apologized while begging Jason to stay, etc. Now it's Lars? I agree Lars can have an attitude; but, holy crap, that's really picking & choosing because all those big (rock) stars have bad f'n attitudes. The bass sound thing has several stories on who did what. Motley Crue; they're currently lying about everything and such spoiled babies that all they do is bicker and fight. My cousin is a first hand witness t MC's spoiled bickerings when she met them in Cincinnati and said she could not believe four grown men could act that way. She said it ruined her from ever wanting meet rock stars again. I remember back when Motley Crue called out several bands including Pink Floyd for live back tracking. I think Lars, here, was probably just striking back at MC after they called people out for backing tracks. My source was Metal Edge back in the early 90's. I remember being angry at MC for that. Tommy Lee is a woman beating pos and is no John Bonham so he should not criticize Lars much because Lars is a much better person than any of the MC guys by far. Nikki Sixx was onstage and used racial slurs against an African American security guard, look it up. I can't say anything about Jesse Hughes. I know nothing about him or the band. Maybe they're cool af and awesome people. I do not know so I can't say anything. Besides, I'm not really trying to defend that little weasel Lars, just pointing out the hypocrisy of most people. Dave Mustaine, has legitimate gripes but then so does Metallica about Dave's behaviors and demons. Dave admits to get drunk and/or stoned and violent. He and James scrapped a few times, from what I hear. How many f'n chances did he actually get? And why didn't he give Ellefson a second chance? Who gives af if a grown man is having sexual encounters with a consenting adult female? James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich have always had battles; but also say they are best friends. Look at Hetfield's attitude on the "Some Kind of Monster" when he screamed at Hammett. That was BS. Even Hetfield admitted he was having serious problems including alcoholism causing him to be angry and hostile so he went and got help. And in recent years, it happened again. This video has alot of truths but also fallacies. Obvious taking advantage of the "hate on Lars" movement to get a video out and feed the masses to generate money. That's the problem with gossip; people get a small perspective only, they never get the full story so the victim gets the hate. Before you judge Lars, you may want to know all the full stories. If he a spoiled little whiny-bag? Yes. But he is human and has points. And, as Jesus said: "Let those that haven't sinned cast the first stone." The hypocrites will. Yes, they cast stones to appear sin-free, but, they are fools only. The innocent know better. BTW, I'm not calling myself Mr, Innocent. I'm a f'n @$$hole!! lol
because he effectively brought metallica to what it was, he was basically the head of the band and had networked it up to soaring populairty, like him or hate him that's up for you to choose, but don't leave out the facts.
@@ChristopherGray00: I know the facts. But I can´t value a drummer that is so bad. I would love to listen to Metallica as the songs would be good with a good drummer. But he destroys it.
When I first bought that "and Justice for all" album..the first thing I noticed and didn't like was the lack of bass guitar in the recording...I never understood it until now...thanks for the info.
As a drummer who was originally influenced by 70s & 80s hardcore punk and thrash, particularly Dave Lombardo on Show No Mercy, Lars has always been one of the weakest live drummers, I learned a lot of Cliff era Metallica on drums and it's not that difficult, I could tell when he lost tempo or covered for a missed beat with a random roll/fill, it frustrated the shit out of me. I also found out his studio recordings are edited and put together from multiple tracks, sometimes flat out copy/pasted. No wonder he can never play a song the same way twice, he never recorded them in a single playthrough.
@@eljefemaximo5420 He refuses to use click tracks live but he has been forced to use them for certain shows like the S&M ones or any televised events like awards shows. Every single drummer I can think of uses click track in concert except Lars, his ego won't let him. He's not even a very creative drummer, Charlie Benante was far more creative, Dave Lombardo was far more powerful and accurate and even Megadeth's multiple drummers put in more effort in practice and all of them used clicks live.
@@okbouncer24 I can’t imagine why he would…But I am a musician and I think I have a good enough ear to know if a drummer is great or one that Just gets the job done. Besides, based on any interviews with him have seen he comes of as a class A a-hole. I my humble opinion.
@@Undaglibenglaubengloben How many live shows have you ever done around the world at the level of Metallica??? The only reason you say this is because you have heard other idiots say the same thing. I've noticed assholes like to stick together. Like I have said before I'm sure Lars is not watching 40 years of anything you have ever done. He's not trying to be the best drummer. He's doing what is best for Metallica and it has worked for 40 years and still is. You just mad you not him! lol
Met the guy years ago. I've met a few rockstars over the years and many celebrities at cons. He genuinely was the nicest celeb I met. He took the time to talk and he was happy to be there and having a bit of a laugh. I felt great talking to him. Hetfield and Kirk were there but it felt like they just had to be there. Which I can't blame them, they've been doing meet and greets the past 40 years and hearing the same things over and over.
I met Machine Head once. They had opened for 'tallica when The Blackening came out. As we're standing in line, there's security for Machine Head standing around, and, a couple other guys and I were just kind of casually joking about Lars being a douche. This went on for like 5 minutes. Soon, the one ginormous security guy walks up to us and calmly grabs my shoulder and says, "I understand all the Lars jokes and the hate he got over the whole napster issue, but, the reality is that he is one of the nicest, most down to earth, most accommodating person that we've ever worked with. Whatever hate you see posted in articles or comment sections is 100% bullshit. That's not who Lars is at all." Obviously, I'm paraphrasing because it's been a few years since then, but, this is really close to what the gist was. We actually ended up bullshitting with the guy for the next 10 minutes or so we were in line waiting. Just thought I'd add this perspective to the bunch.
Urlich has no one to blame but himself, in one video he shouts to James and the rest of the band and nobody shouts back, that is why people perceive him negatively
I love him. He was on national TV telling everyone what website to use and what program to install to pirate music for free. He was the soul purpose of everyone on earth screwing the music industry. WHO WOULDN'T LOVE THIS GUY?! XD
@@paranormalwheelers Yeah it was Napster on television talking into the microphone. Complaining about their losses of record sales... How could I get software confused with Lars? My mistake.. **sarcasm was used in the comment**
The whole thing with Jason is sad, he didn't deserve to be treated the way he was, and I wish he was still part of Metallica. While Robert Trujillo is an awesome bass player, his backing vocals leave something to be desired (watch the recent live performances of "of wolf and man" and you will see what I mean) - sometimes bands can just be petty and childish - look at how Michael Anthony from Van Halen was treated by the Van Halen brothers, then you have Roger Waters and the rift with Pink Floyd... Childish. I wish some of these bands could put aside petty differences and egos end just get on with making great music.
Roberts look was half of the decision for hiring him with his playing being the other half.... and NO, his xocals cannot measure up to Jason's and that situation only confirms what a pompous dick that mediocre drummer has always been...
I always wondered why they recorded it that way, I mean what were they thinking? Also there is very little reverb - the album is positively dry, but it did show exactly how tight they are as a band.
Well he was half the songwriting team behind probably the best metal song ever made, imo, which is "One." Everything bad I hear about Lars I put back in this context; I think people underrate him. Even if he's not a good drummer I think he's an incredible songwriter, though I could be giving insufficient credit to James I suppose.
I never met Lars in person. Whatever people say about Lars, I take it with a grain of salt. Here's the thing, though. You can judge a person by his friends. Lars may not have many, but those few friends have been loyal for 40 years and still going. Personally, I always believe that a friend to all is a friend to none. That's honesty, and honesty is the only excuse.
I've had one good friend in my whole life. I mean someone that truly cares if I live or die. We've been through hell and back together. I know he loves me like a brother, and i feel the same. The thing is I just recently discovered he was worried for my well being. His wife called today to tell me that there is a tornado on the ground in my neighborhood. I said yes it was but thank God it passed without wreaking havoc. I asked how he knew about it? You guys live 800 miles away. She said he keeps his severe weather alerts set to your location, because of all the hurricanes you guys get. She said he tells her that I should get out of there and move back home 😂. He's a good dude and I'm blessed to have a friend like him. His wife is awesome too.
Lars could easily be replaced in Metallica, and nobody would care. In fact, they might be better. If you took Hetfield out of Metallica, there wouldn't be a Metallica. I think Lars forgets who actually writes the songs.

I met Metallica at a signing party back in the '80s, yeah I'm not sure it's still a thing, but it happened. DFW, TX. Cliff Burton was there, James, Kirk and Lars. I was in line to get something signed, I saw all these people with guitars, clothing, whatever, all getting stuff signed! My friends were like, "Hey get your vest signed!" I was wearing a jean vest with an big Iron Maiden patch on the back. I asked them to sign it, James and Kirk signed it, no problem. Then I got to Lars. I'm a young teen fan, maybe I don't know shit! He was like, "I don't wanna sign that". (=hate) But he did sign it. FY! I wish he wouldn't have, doesn't matter. Cliff was the the last Metallica member to sign my vest. He wrote "Kill 'em all" on it! He was super cool! Long story long, Lars is a dick! Sometimes nothing matters though. My older brother would end up stealing it from me. Never to be seen again.
What is it with brothers and metal memorabilia, my dad caught a drum stick from Nicko Mcbrain in the 80s engraved with name and all. My uncle threw it in a bonfire..
Lars reminds me alot of my old drummer, he was the same way. Great drummer with a vision, a better business man though. We lost a few amazing musicians because of him and because I didn't speak up. Alot of great memories having shared the stage with bands we idolized. August burns red, a day to remember, bring me the horizon, carnifex, blind witness are a handful of the bands.
I can’t wrap my head around any grown man, having to verbalize the statement “I’m not afraid of Lars” 😂🤣😂🤣. Who is afraid of Lars? He’s the least physically intimidating entity in that band.
Yes and on the Justice tour they used to make his bass guitar head" explode" sometime during the show on occasion tell me that wasn't something that had a deeper meaning
You forgot about what a clown he was during the Napster trail not to mention hypocrite because he himself admitted to recording music off the radio. Which at it's core is the exact same thing

Lars also acknowledged that if it wasn't for music sharing back in the early eighties no one would have known who Metallica is. They were on tour and by the time they got to California there were 3rd generation tapes circulating around and that is why they were able to draw a crowd. The industry steals from the artists. If you care enough to share music you are likely to buy the actual product from the artists. Every time a new technology comes along that allows people direct access to the art the industry says it will hurt sales. EVERYTIME. Blank tapes, blank CDs, file sharing, UA-cam and other sites, et cetera. The data never shows that happening. Publishing, whether it is books, music, movies, or whatever continue to be extremely profitable for the respective industries.
He’s very smart, creative, and good in producing and stuffs he always seems to be the one who arranges everything when it comes to sound and mixing. But sometimes he’s way to diplomatic and serious and shit and he always has a very long explanation. That’s the only thing I get annoyed about him. As far as being a drummer? Yeah he’s not the best but without him, Metallica wouldn’t even exist.
so well said, and heres the weird thing....Lars black album era, esp live, was the best drummer ever, serious, for me the groove that little shit had is just incredible, listen to the proof in the late 80's early 90's live tallica, he was a god.
Thanks You Lars. I can't imagine And Justice For All without this dry ragressive garage sound. It fits the album so weel. The snare is more natural and I'm thankfull the album doesn't sound like EVERY other big productions at the time. It's part of the personality of the album. Part of the legend. 😍 Another proof Lars was a visionary.
I love Metallica, and I don't hate Lars, but can't deny he's like the most boring drummer out of every drummer that drummed in a somewhat popular band.
He sounds unique out of the other bands, you can tell when it's him playing. You can't tell someone else's playing just by their sound, in a band like metallica
2:51 Eagles of Death Metal are objectively terrible but this is the most accurate description of Lars in history. Though I will also say there's a bit of projection there because that dancing from Jesse is a little swishy itself.
I don't know man. All of this sounds like people taking things personally, which is fine. But it seems very subjective. Metallica, the greatest metal band of all time, would not be anywhere near where it is today without Lars. From his drumming and business sense early on, to his ear for arrangement and good riffs as time went on, his importance and effect on the band is truly undeniable. He might not be the most sociable or likable guy, but I refuse to believe he doesn't deserves recognition as an all-time great artist.
I don't think Metallica is the "greatest" metal band of all time. They are very good..I'll agree..but not the greatest. And their new material..well as Beavis would say "This su*ks*..
I like Lars. As a fellow €uropean, I bet he still feels like he's an outsider in the US. Plus, he comes across as very articulate (and he's at least bilingual). I like that.
He's a good song writer and composer, there's nothing wrong with liking that and if anyone says otherwise, well there isn't much to say about them besides they're losers
I'm 56 now and was a huge fan of the first 3 albums(the Cliff years). Back in the early/mid eighties, it was all about the music, partying and headbanging. You really didn't get into the personalities and we didn't have the internet so you never got to know who they really were.
Say what you want but Lars is part of one the most iconic metal bands and is still selling out shows across the world. sometimes you need a little salt to bake a good cake and Lars is the salt Metallica needs and I think when it comes to everyone else criticizing him he just leaves them a little salty that's all because of the success Metallica has had for over 40 years, and nobody has been able to replicate it.
I was lucky enough to see Metallica at Download when Lars was too stoned to play, so they went backstage and asked other drummers to stand in for him. Joey Jordison stepped up for the first 20 minutes or so, and the sound was astonishing. I was also unlucky enough to see them WITH Lars, and the sound was back to it's usual plodding, monotonous drone.
@@woodrustandthings you're not a fan, either, then. Because if you were, I'm sure you'd know all about the infamous Download incident when Lars was speedballing on the coach from Heathrow to Donnington....
I had a college professor who was pretty big in the music industry back in the eighties and nineties, he was asked to work on the recording of Kill ‘Em All and turned it down because of how much of an asshole Lars was. I asked him if he ever regretted the decision as he would have received a percentage of sales of the album, he said no, purely because of Lars.
your professor is lying, they were never given the chance to work with lars. how do i know? music professors dont get given that opportunity for networking or money often enough to refuse.
During Some Kind of Monster, it just seemed like Lars was playing to the camera all the time, rather than trying to get through a rough patch they were enduring. Like, his confrontations with James seemed like something some one would say who had a weird idea of what coolness is, rather than an actual cool guy responding to a situation.
This is exactly my problem. He was also all over the map with his statements. So annoying. He made good points if you would isolate them. But when you put it together he is just a dick making no sense. He just wants his way, like Big Ed on 90 days fiance
His weird confrontation with James did seem like he was auditioning for a part in some crappy movie. It was quite awkward. James got big points for exercising restraint and not tearing Lars a new one.
Lars decades ago and Lars now are two different things. Years ago he def seemed pretty egotistical but over the past couple decades based on all the stuff I've seen he seems to have really mellowed out. To an extent I think his egotism and self confidence are part of what brought Metallica success, he wasn't afraid to have his say and get things the way he wanted them, and clearly that worked out pretty well at the time. I can imagine he must have been annoying as fuck but at this point to me it is what it is and he seems pretty chill now honestly. And really, his arrangements are a big part of Metallica's songwriting in the end, there's a reason why the songs are Hetfield/Ulrich and not just Hetfield on the writing credits. He def was a prick at times but also instrumental to Metallica's success and nowadays he seems like a nice guy, I'd say.
Just watch Mission to Lars and see how nice he was to the young man Tom and his sister - he went out of his way to be kind to them. He's definitely changed a lot for the better over the years.
@@redrick8900 there is actually a video interview where Lars says, here we are on tour [supporting Ride the Lightning] and I don't know how to play the drums, not sure if he said he was going to take lessons or not, but I know he said that, and I am not a hater I dig his 80s stuff, but I am also a non biased critic and not a fan boy of anyone
I look at it this way. Sometimes the artist behind the art isn't your average normal person. His drumming does reflect his personality though. Like not in tempo = do it his way no matter what people say
You should look into who the real riff was between Jason and Metallica, Hetfield had the biggest problem with Jason leaving, He says this in more than one interview. There is plenty of documentation right after he got sober. Jason wasn’t pissed at Lars as much as he was with James

Lars could probably be a pain in the butt but you need to have that kind of element in a band to be successful. He's also a major creative force in Metallica.
I am a die hard thrash metal fan from the early 80's till now. I grew up in the Southern California metal scene. When thrash broke out I was hooked. I fell in love with Metallica's Kill 'em all and the albums followed. I died a little when they released the black album, but, I had hoped they would find their way home. I was embarrassed by load and reload and, in my opinion, they have never fully recovered. The bummer is that Lars has always came off as an arrogant little dweeb but it has progressed over the years. This was never more apparent than the Napster $h!t show and Lars spearheading the fight against what made them famous... Underground trading of music. It was apparent to every one of Metallica's OG fans that the "anti-sellout" band had sold out. First Load, Then Reload, then the Napster fight to put the nail in the coffin for me (and many original fans). Next comes Lulu. Don't even get me started. The image (at 5m00s of this video) of the band says it all to me... Sunglasses in a well lit room, thigh high shorts and crocks. Lars is a poser. They should have canned him instead of Newsted. Jason brought a level of legitimacy to the band. Jason has handled himself with class the whole way through. Not to take away from Robert Trujillo does also. He is legit as well. Dude has chops. All this while watching Megadeth show these dudes how it's done. Stay true to yourself and make music the best you can. Megadeth, Testament, and Exodus have all gotten better with age. Metallica, well they are rich as f**k, so I guess that was the goal. I don't hate Lars, I just feel he would do better managing Lady Gaga than the drummer for Metallica. \m/
As I’ve gotten older I realize that for some to have the ambition and confidence in themselves as artists, their personalities come across as arrogant. It’s not like that for every successful person just for some. I believe Lars is like that.
I have listened to the first 4 since I was 13. Am 51. The drums, the solos, vocals, everything to me sounds perfect. I've been playing drums for over 20 years in bands. Maybe Lars has fallen off live in the last couple of decades but....drums on 1st 4......freaking brilliant. I like all those other dudes - Lobardo, Jordison, etc. Lars is unique. He's fast, he slams hard and he's interesting. The other dudes sound like drum machines. You will never hear this drummer bash Lars's drumming.
The more everyone hates someone the more that someone is amazing to me. Literally sissies really think a damn rockstar cares what they fucking think. Lars was right about almost everything. He was right about Napster and the Internet devaluing music and making it a struggle for people to buy an album that they could download for free elsewhere. He was right about not bringing in that Therapist in Some Kind of Monster as it would damage the band, and it did Some Kind of Monster and St. Anger was when a lot of people lost their passion or interest in Metallica. Lars (str8 outta tempo) and James (some kind of monster) is the reason why I lost interest in Metallica personally as a fan. The only album that does justice is Garage Days prior to Jason joining the band officially. Despite their fame and bucketloads of money made, its this reason why their egos have bloated and they are not the same street level band their roots come from.

As a kid my mother remarried and we Moved to Carlsbad Cali. in the late 70s early 80s. This was my first exposure to Metallica. This is when Metallica was starting to hit the Scene with Kill em all and the Album They called an import The Four Horsemen I was 13 at the time. One day my buddy tells me that Metallica is playing at this Club in San Diego with Suicidal Tendencies. Us being only 13 we couldn't get into the club. So we decided we were going tp sneak into the club to see the show. Myself and four of my friends went to the club but ended up not being able to get in. So we hung out until the show was done. After the show the guys came outside and started handing out demo tapes for free telling everyone to take the tape make copies and give them to your friends which was awesome. NOW FAST FORWARD TO THE NAPSTER DAYS. Sorry Lars LOL its ironic you spearheaded the fight to not be able to download free music. But I get it a lot of people took advantage of this. But ya that's the only thing that kinda made me look sideways and scratched my head at Lars. Kind of forgot his roots there for a while Free demo tapes and go make copies lol.

I seriously doubt that Lars is losing any sleep about who likes him or not .
that's the problem
I love Metallica, and I don't hate Lars, but can't deny he's like the most boring drummer out of every drummer that drummed in a somewhat popular band.
He used to be really cool back in the day… I guess drugs and alcohol 🤷🏻♂️
He sounds unique out of the other bands, you can tell when it's him playing. You can't tell someone else's playing just by their sound, in a band like metallica

Ever heard of AC/DC?
2:51 Eagles of Death Metal are objectively terrible but this is the most accurate description of Lars in history. Though I will also say there's a bit of projection there because that dancing from Jesse is a little swishy itself.
Pretty sure the rift between Newsted and Metallica had more to do with James Hetfield and not Lars. He’s literally said that in an interview.
Spot on!
Man, Lars was nice enough to hand me a set of his sticks in the front row after some idiot threw a chair that hit us. Class act!
Unfortunately I like Lars and am a percussion instructor…Musicians always have disagreements!
Lars is probably top 3 metal drummers all time, so he gets a pass on sometimes being a dick.
He's a good song writer and composer, there's nothing wrong with liking that and if anyone says otherwise, well there isn't much to say about them besides they're losers
There's disagreements, then there's Lars... ...and Axl.
Please dont use his tempo and timing as an example for your lessons.
Just because you're a percussion instructor doesn't mean you're a good one....
It’s not about late being a jerk, it about how he uses the same drum beat and style for litterally each song
I mean, what do you think 3 quarters of core/thrash metal is etc? This is coming from someone who goes to metal festivals lols.

I'm 56 now and was a huge fan of the first 3 albums(the Cliff years). Back in the early/mid eighties, it was all about the music, partying and headbanging. You really didn't get into the personalities and we didn't have the internet so you never got to know who they really were.
right lol, that’s why everyone thought everybody who played death metal were satanists 🤣
I have met Lars...super nice dude to me at least. This Lars bashing was NEVER a thing until the Napster days. It is getting old.
I was also unlucky enough to see them WITH Lars, and the sound was back to it's usual plodding, monotonous drone.
and then u woke up
@@woodrustandthings you're not a fan, either, then. Because if you were, I'm sure you'd know all about the infamous Download incident when Lars was speedballing on the coach from Heathrow to Donnington....

@@maJastoL The story put out at the time was that he was ill. It later crept out that he was speed balling.

I like little drummer boy Lars.🥁
Well he was born the day after Xmas.
STRAIGHT OUTTA TEMPO is one of the funniest things I've ever seen, especially in reference to Lars 🤣
I know and people change, Lars was a young man, when young we are much more egotistical.
Just watch Mission to Lars and see how nice he was to the young man Tom and his sister - he went out of his way to be kind to them. He's definitely changed a lot for the better over the years.

I look at it this way. Sometimes the artist behind the art isn't your average normal person. His drumming does reflect his personality though. Like not in tempo = do it his way no matter what people say
Pathetic excuse for a crappy drummer.
You should look into who the real riff was between Jason and Metallica, Hetfield had the biggest problem with Jason leaving, He says this in more than one interview. There is plenty of documentation right after he got sober. Jason wasn’t pissed at Lars as much as he was with James
True, they're just saying here that his run in with Lars was the beginning of the end. Seems James was even more unhappy at Jason, from what he's said in interviews, agreed
@@GordonHeaney James and Lars kind-of had a mini clique there in Metallica so I wouldn't be surprised if James' anger was more for Lars than for himself.
It's pretty crazy to hear all of this. Sounds like Ulrich holds a huge roll in Metallica success!! Let's remember that!
Is it a Ham and Cheese one?
