So finally in the end of the video this is what i take from this particular video:
Rinse the car down and remove the first layer of dirt
Stop using foam lances, but keep using them
Exchange the snow foam product to an agressive degreaser and foam it on the car
Watch how the same amount of dirt is still on the car
Proceed to wash the car the way you would do anyways with shampoo as lubricant
Watch how the dirt magically disappears when you remove it by contact (magic as mr.bean would say)
Watch how the car, now that you contact washed it with soap is shiny and clean
I gotta say, I'm suprised that no one knew that a contact wash would clean a car, shocking to say the least

lol yeah, too much hype around foam.. only reason I use it is to get soap in hard to reach areas that I will use a detail brush to agitate. Otherwise they aren’t THAT effective. The shampoo during the contact wash is the most important factor I think

I started my first mobile detailing vehicle back in 1996. People thought I was crazy, who would pay you to come to wash their car. Now all this hype about washing and detailing, ceramic this and ceramic that. He is making a big deal out of nothing. The main point is that you do get the big particles off the car before rubbing the dirt into the paint. That is important. Another factor is not to use fabric softener when washing your microfiber rags. It hardens the fibers which also can scratch the clear coat. Also, get a good orbital buffer. I polish my car every 3 months to remove light scratches in the clear coat. Also, know this....."You will never clean a car that has built up dirt without adaptation!" All that hype is how he bills a customer 100 dollars for a drawn-out car wash. LOL

moral of the story.. foam cannon makes it fun and can be used to apply soap but completely unnecessary. a contact wash is the best way to clean a car. I'm a detailer. I rinse the car, foam the car and do a contact wash with 3 mits in one bucket. then rinse. done. easy ..no need to pre treat and rinse them degrease and rinse them contact and rinse...as long as you're keeping your mits and microfibers clean. do whatever you want that is quick and easy. don't even need to waste time setting up pressure washer or di tank regular hose washer works great. just dry the vehicle quickly and you're good. this industry and you tubers try their hardest to promote... most products all do the same thing. no need to spend a fortune for 100-dollar soap when Meguires Gold Class for 10$ does the same job. .. and SuperClean. so cheap and effective. As detailers you need to be efficient and save money.

    • @joeschmoe6908
      @joeschmoe6908 2 роки тому +6

There is huge variation in pressure washers. At the right distance they are very gentle. They also use less water than a regular hose and are easier to aim. There is a reason that virtually every detailer in existence uses them. You'll see far more marring from touching the paint while washing or drying it, no matter how careful you are.
Your car will never be perfect without polishing, and wash marring is easily removed during polishing.

Luke it's a bit of an investment but I think with my setup you could cut your times in half and do completely touchless washes in some cases.
I have four 5 gallon containers diluted 4-1 with a spigot attached. In one of them I have P&S enviroclean, which is amazing and does a bang up job all the while smelling like cherry.
In the other 3 containers, I have the Chem-X 2-step touchless system which is a low pH foam (stars), which you foam onto the car and then follow up with step 2 which is a high pH foam (stripes), which causes a pH shock and pretty much makes the dirt jump off the car in some instances, and also neutralizes the low pH step 1 to bring it to around neutral, then rinse off under high pressure.
But the real beauty of this system is what's in the last container, a regular old high foaming super slick pH neutral soap. Why is it beautiful in this situation? Well say that I'm not gonna be able to do a full touchless wash and I've gotta get in there by hand to get rid of some grease and road film, well in that case I'll fill up my foam cannon with 75% of pH neutral soap, and then the last 25% with the high PH stripes soap. That results in me having a soap that'll pretty much dwell all day with a pH around 9-10 to get rid of the road film and grease.
Then in the winter time or after a few storm's and the roads are good and covered in salt, I'll do the same thing but use the low pH stars soap instead and now I've got a thick soap that'll dwell and chew up all that mineral build up.
It basically gives me 15 gallons of a modular soap system that I can use in several different ways, touchless, low pH, high pH, pH neutral and since it's already pre-diluted into containers with a spigot, it's good to go

I see being a mobile car detailer where it might be helpful to have a pressure washer setup. But I honestly just want to enjoy washing the family car. Dont want it to be complicated. For a diy the DI tank is very costly, so the best option is a drying agent like formula 4, for a professional, the dionize water tank surely worth it long term but way more expensive!
