I love how as Slaanesh I could enslave factions as my vassals even when they had a nearly 1,000 level of hostility towards me. On a side note, Slaanesh is truly great now that they’ve added chaos warriors and chaos knights to their roster. The chaos warriors with whips are some of the tankiest SOBs ever.
An experience I've had with the slaanesh units is that they straight up win in a fight against khorne units. Slaanesh is meant to be fast moving, hit and run faction that shouldn't hold up in a head to head fight... but they do. They're high melee defense means they never get hit in melee. Their high melee attack means they always land their hits. Their immense amount of armor piercing units means that Khorne's high armor means absolutely nothing. In a siege, all you have to do is group up at choke points and watch as khorne is unable to do a thing.
Daemonettes do hold up surprisingly well against Khorne, but even on vh battle difficulty a beefed up army of exalted bloodletters or those juggernaut riding dudes will absolutely steamroll slaneesh. When your units have 60+ melee attack before their anti-inf bonus even kicks in the enthrall debuff does little. Just make sure not to get flanked by any of them ever my god
The game is definitely more fun played on Ultra unit scale, but CA is on record saying that they prioritise balance for Large unit scale. And yeah, regular Daemonettes don't got the innate reduce enemy melee attack debuff, only the Exalted ones do. But both count as superior flankers, so it's really important that Daemonettes wrap around an entangled front line and charge the enemy formations in the rear. That's where they start wrecking Bloodletters.
great now i imagine the orks and slaanesh teaming up to absolutely destroy the other chaos gods combined because the spiffing brit tol them to in the past
I think the reason why Penumbral Pendulum does so much more damage in TW:W3 is because so many of the new factions (i.e. all the Daemons) rely on physical resistance, and so are kind of weak to magic? Otherwise I'm not sure.
No, it's just massively overtuned. The Whip of Slaanesh deals 12 damage per second, while the pendulum base deals like 72 damage per second. It's also on the field dealing its damage for a lot longer than the Whip does.

The game is balanced around Ultra. It's not that spells do less in that setting, it's that the spells have the SAME dmg, effect, ect, no matter the scaling. A spell that does 100dmg will do 100dmg, on every scaling setting. 100dmg against a small size unit of like, 500hp, is 1/5, 100dmg against an ultra unit of 5000hp is only 1/50.
@@MrYzan AOE spells do damage per model they connect with, though. So although they are still weaker on ultra due to it being harder to hit all the models in a unit, they do still end up doing a lot of damage
@@MrYzan It's always worked that way. That's why big AOE spells are good against large units of chaff and useless against big single-entity monsters. Dear spiff in the realm of slaanesh on the final door before the fight you will find an utterly bonkers of a weapon called slaanesh's blade that has very crasy stats and a follower that gives you +200% xp gain, movement range +20% and 25% vision range on the campaing map. It goes well with most of the legendary lords
I mean, the magic thing isn't unique to TW:WH3. If you set the unit size to the smallest option (which it's pretty clear spiff did) magic becomes ridiculously OP since the health pool for the unit goes down but the damage dealt per spell stays the same.
Keep in mind if you play on a smaller unit scale (number of soldiers per squad) like this video, then all area of effect magic will be significantly more cost effective. By scaling down the units, they will have fewer models and cover a smaller space, so even though magic damage scales down too, spells cover a larger portion of the enemy squad.
lol I too have noticed how utterly overpowered Slanesh really is with ease. But they're all pretty chaotic and I think that's kinda the point. Everyone's overpowered because technically they're the Chaos Gods and Champions. But Slanesh is a pretty fun playstyle for sure.
In other Total War Titles i've had "close victories" even though i lost barely any units and the other army got completely destroyed xD Sometimes i wonder how it gauges the Victories..
I think it's based on percentage of individual characters lost, like if you field a bunch of weak individually but swarmy units and win handily but have a lot of casualties just due to the nature of the units being kinda zerg rushy or cannon foddery, it counts that against you even if it's actual effect on overall health is negligable and you'll recover almost immediately at least that's my theory.
The Penumbral Teabag eh? It's funny thinking about it that way. The funniest line for me from the Alluress is "They will never know the safe word!" But all she does to her victims is smacks them with wet used teabags. Who needs to know what the safe word is?

yea.. spiff doesnt really care about little details like that. its not clickbaity enough. remember his awful warhammer 2 videos where he thought the vampire counts were so unbearably powerful because he beat a few early game armies with just heroes? or thought the dark elves had gamebreaking levels of economy bugs while completely ignoring the high elves and ACTUAL gamebreaking economy that was thousands of times more powerful than the dark elves? he doesnt really know much about these games, and it shows
@@Riftweaver1981 Well, it's the same with most of the game he plays.
He's here to abuse some things that people talked about, and make a video of it, correct me if i'm wrong he never claimed to be a master at these games
@@Riftweaver1981 Because Spiff simply shows off some bugs or exploits in a game in a way that is fun to watch. he's not some sort of "well this is the most optimal cheese" player, he simply shows a variety of cheese.
Honestly, if you're watching Spiff and expect him to understand the game mechanics of the games he plays, you're doing it wrong. We are here for him riding on his own hype, abusing some actual coding errors and glitches every now and then, and the memes. Mainly the memes.
That said, him playing up developer intended mechanics as game breaking exploits and unironically hyping up every restoration loop he does in his Skyrim videos does get old after a while.
@@ryomaanime4563 idk, for me its always felt WAAAY more clickbait with these games with others... like, he is playing on medium/small unit size, correct me if im wrong, which the game isnt balanced towards, he's playing on an easier difficulty, again, what its not balanced for, and he is wildly overstating what some of this stuff does. Like the seduction, which will generally get you one unit, said he can make a whole army fight itself, or enthralling attacks. It's not that I'm trying to kill the fun of the video, but its extremely misleading, and I'd rather see some actual genuine game breaking rather than, yknow him just playing the game how its intended to be played.
To be fair, the game isn't harder if you play Khorne against slaanesh. Nearly all khorne units have the anti infantry trait and it's overpowered.
Battle difficulty buffs ai unit stats, likely this is the issue. The buffs are fairly significant.
Probably play normal/normal
Hmm I just played last night and my lovely ladies were struggling against khorne chaos warriors. So. Who knows.
Just make sure not to get flanked by any of them
ever
my god
Awesome video. For people wondering about the imbalance, the game is balanced around ultra unit size and this seems set to medium.
something is odd because I was playing on N/N and my regular demonette units get washed by khorne its not even close.
@@martenkahr3365 That is for Tw W1 and 2, they changed it for 3, so for 3 it's balanced around Ultra.

@@KainYusanagi To compare WoD was nerfed to only deal 42 damage per second while still costing twice as much as pendulum. You can see it if you fight vampires and hover over the ability when selecting one of their casters. So yeah pendulum is now better WoD.

Magic is a bit weaker on ultra scaling. Ultra seems the most balanced in this Game.
@@Fan0fGaming If that's the case then they've changed how magic works from the previous two games at least.
@@MrYzan It's always worked that way. That's why big AOE spells are good against large units of chaff and useless against big single-entity monsters. It's why you can use a comet of casandora on a chokepoint to wipe out almost their entire army, but you can't use it to kill their big spooky monsters.
Direct damage spells, however, still do static damage.
@@MrYzan they don't though. I tested it with slaanesh and not only the spells but the weapon strength of lords and damaging abilities like harvester of souls do less damage 1/4 of the damage on small, 1/2 on medium etc
Now when you say you envision the Slaaneshi spellcaster's Swinging Teabag spell...
I’m so glad that slaanesh factions play exactly like they should 😍

@Dreymon Green no... legend cheeses the game in its hardest difficulty, the Brit cheeses the game in normal difficulty like a bum bum
there are so many people who are actually good at this game, than spiff. spiff is a great content creator, but the way he plays these games, its obviously he knows very little about it or how it actually works. he wouldnt work as a playtester, he just gets told exploits and memes by other people and showcases them
@@Riftweaver1981 This. Spiff is all about the memes and the delivery. If I got a penny every time his big, game breaking exploit turned out to be just intended game mechanics used in lower difficulties, I could buy, like, a burger. And maybe some fries? Either way, he has a bad habit of hyping things up a bit too much.
It's great advertising, we saw with the playtest of some of the previous games that they gave patch notes to the creators about what was broken and not. So Spiff just makes content based on that, pretty sure he used to do research into what was broken and how (he's been great at finding and explaining integer overflows) but as has been said he's now more for the memes (probably because he's going for a week long schedule rather than monthly videos)

@@forgottenkaszas9250 my bad.
In other Total War Titles i've had "close victories" even though i lost barely any units and the other army got completely destroyed xD
Sometimes i wonder how it gauges the Victories..
"Amadeus Witherslash, nope that won't do, no instead they are Jerry the Wizard"
