  • 👋 In todays video we talk about one of the most expensive parts to replace on the Audi R8!! For my car it's time for a suspension replacement and upgrade! On the R8, the magnetic ride was an option from the factory and while it's a cool option to get, it is a system that is known to go out. In my case I knew that one of the coils had a leak, but after taking the car apart, we found the the two fronts were leaking a good bit. The rears where in great shape, but with the car being 10 years old, they were eventually going to go too. An OEM setup from the Audi dealer would cost roughly $10K just for the parts and then add labor which could be around $1K or so! For the price of the car, that doesn't seem like a bad cost in relation to that, but of course on this channel, we want to show you the cost effective way that not only saves money, but also gives you the best part too! That's where the BC racing coilovers come into play for a total cost of $1400! While they don't have the magnetic ride, which I rarely used, they have so many different adjustments and after making this video, I got them dialed in some more! Stay tuned for the new wheels and lowering the car as I will go over all that information and how the adjustments work and feel with the different settings! I am super excited with this kit and how they ride so far! This project was also incredibly easy with basic tools, we had no hiccups and it was a smooth process! Definitely beats writing a check for $10k only for them to possibly fail again! Can't wait for my new wheels and setup, it's going to look so good!!!

haha yeah! No reason that 1 part should cost that much. The main reason is probably because it's next to zero in volume. They probably don't make them in high quantities. But the aftermarket is a way better option for sure!

Oh yeah I figured it'd be around $10k. But there are so many good aftermarket alternatives that offer more than OEM. Nothing wrong with saving boatloads of money and making the car even better!

@@BrosFOURRSpeed ya I agree 100% but I just feel like things like that give dealership mechanics bad reps because most people take that information the wrong way. I’ve been a tech for 8 years man and I can tell you with even that big ass quote they gave you most of it goes to the service writer, parts department and so on. We techs at least at my dealer are pretty honest when it comes to labor rates and not gonna lie man R8s especially the older bodies are a pain in the asssssssss to work on lol. I get what you mean tho brotha that’s exactly why I don’t take my personal car to the dealer lmaoooo

@@hektr19 well OEM parts for cars like this are always expensive since it’s such low demand and supply. It’s nothing negative about a dealer. This was a $130k car. So it had pricey parts to begin with. But it’s nice showing people that aftermarket products can be a great way to repair expensive cars. And most of the time the aftermarket gives you better performance at such a fraction of the cost. So hopefully this shows people how easy and cheap these cars are to work with 💪🏼
