You can keep your settings 2 different ways. Open the native camera app, go to settings, then scroll down and choose "settings to keep" . You can also keep your settings in Raw. Once in raw, scroll to where you can see white balance. Just above the white balance is a little slider, toggle, looking icon. Click on that, and create your settings. Then save them. Also, you do not have to use the timer. You can use the s-pen. If you have the Samsung Galaxy 5 pro watch you can also use your watch to take the picture. Wow thank you. And for you to admit your a iPhone user, much respect. This video has opened my eyes to pro and raw shots that I've always wanted to learn how to make but thought you had to be a scientist to make. I just got my S23 Ultra and I've been wanting to learn how to take advantage of manual, pro,raw modes. You've got a new subscriber.....
That Auto night mode really shines when the scene is very very dark with very very minimum light (to the point where even your eyes can't see the details clearly). Expert RAW or Pro mode will give you a very dark image unless you do some post-processing, Whereas the Auto Night mode will light up the entire scene and details and it will also reduce the noise automatically.
Only first part is true that the auto night mode will perform better in complete darkness, however in the city its never pitch black...And its still going to be long exposure photo, so the phone does automatically what I do in the pro and expert raw modes, however if you use manual settings you also have full control over your ISO settings resulting in the cleanest and sharpest image possible
@YouKnowWho I guess you didn't even look at the video because there are no photos in there that made night time look like day, but I guess trolls gotta troll. 😮
I am watching this right today that S24 is getting presented and I am watching from my S23 Ultra since...well.. I am thinking about switching to the Pixel 8 Pro honestly :D And this video is somehow pushing me to change. First of all, congrats! The video is very well done and you showed properly how to maximize photography out of this tech beast. The message you are sending in the video is that this device is very good for low light pics thanks to the 200mpx and to the opportunities given by the 3x and especially by the 10x. This is true, but there is a hidden message which is: "only if you have a tripod". Now, I own cameras and I like shooting with them. As many amateur photographer, I do own a tripod as well...but...I mean I would never take my tripod with me to shoot with a smartphone. The purpose of the smartphone itself is completely lost. And I believe that hardly someone may have a tripod without having a camera. That's it, just wanted to highlight this. I am still torn with the S23U vs P8P debate, since the S23U returns amazing result in good light with all cameras and even without tripod (I got some amazing, really high quality videos and photos out of it), but in low light it is just bad, even terrible sometimes, if used as a smartphone (hold in the hand, point, tune a bit the light and shoot) with the zoom cameras. While the P9P (that i got the chance to test), with its 5x and even with computational 10x, is an amazing point-and-shoot even in low light. Thanks again for the video! You got a subscriber here :)
Thank you for this video. As someone else had suggested, the use of the S Pen Is also a great way to snap the shot without moving anything and you can also enable voice commands where you could just say Capture to get the shot. You really showed how great RAW is.
Just tested it: you can't use S-pen as shutter button on Expert-RAW, BUT you can activate shooting by voice command, thus shooting by just saying "shoot", "capture", "smile" etc. (works like a charm!) AND you can also shoot by hand gestures (like open hand palm). So, there's no need to be affraid of shaking the phone by pressing its screen shutter button.

You can actually use the S-pen as a remote control to activate shutter without timer, both in auto as pro manual mode. You will have to manually add *expert RAW* to the S-pen controls this way: go to S-Pen settings > Air Action > select *Expert Raw app* (it is a seperate app from the standard camera app) and add it in the list of apps of your S-Pen controls. || The other option is voice command!
I have made many photos on my previous smartphones. But always the quick and dirty ones not bothering about settings. Now I am trying to take better pictures with my S23 Ultra and this video is a really good start. Thumbs up.
It's my first time to have Samsung and I opted for the Ultra one without even knowing how to use its capabilities. So, a huge thank you for teaching us these features. ❤
Hi, loving the videos, they're really helpful! Just a quick question. Where did you get your tripod for your ultra 23 from? And is that a hand held unit also?
Excellent tutorial and examples! This is a must video for people who complain about the mobile phone low light image quality. The issue is not the phone, it's the people who don't know how to use it.
Question, should we use auto-lens switching or not and why? whats the best pick and shoot method for the non photographer thats wants the best possible?
Please compare 50M Raw in Pro and in Expert Raw and do some pixel peeping. No one does this! It would also be good to compare 50Mp Raw vs 50Mp Expert Raw vs Pro camera raw with pixel peeping.
Very informative video man thanks for that! I have the s23 ultra and will definitely try this! Remember you can use the spen capture photos too! No need for a timer!
Thank you for the video and the tips 👍 For any serious photgraphy I have always defaulted to my DSLR. When I heard about the raw features of the Ultra I was immediately intrigued. I picked up the Ultra a few days ago and I am pleasantly surprised. The phone and and light weight tripod are easy enough to go anywhere. There is a bit of a learning curve because I am used to the tactile buttons on my DSLR for quick changes. That being said, the camera alone on this phone makes it a worthy purchase for the hobbyist photographer or as a back up unit for a professional.
I just bought the Ultra and i am looking forward to learning how to use the camera to its maximum potential. I have very little photography experience and have learned from you already after watching 3 of your videos, thank you. Subbed!
Thanks for the detailed tips! Wondering what editing app do you use for RAW pics? Also, if I'm at music gigs/events where I can't carry a tripod, how can I work around with night mode photography or videos? Particularly, in PRO mode, less shutter speed makes pictures blurry (if not mounting on stable surface/ taking by hands) Any suggestions @StevenDivish?
Why are you using the timer when the s-pen can remotely take the photos and avoid camera movement? This feature is totally unique to the S23 and I am surprised you ignored it in this video. Also, I tend to avoid the 10x super zoom on my S23 ultra at night for hand held shots anyway, because it struggles a bit in low light. Personally, I would stick with the main camera 95% of the time as it gives much better and consistant low light results. The 10x zoom is great during the day, but even then I always switch to 3x4 aspect because the rather limited 10mp resolution starts to look suspect when viewed on my 27" 4K monitor at 9x16, due to the reduction in pixel count to achieve this aspect.

This is great. The photographic aspect is so advanced that is a pity reviewers only get to use the full auto mode, which in my opinion although good for random situations, or times when the focus is not photography (like family gatherings), for photography it can make you feel detached from it, as if the machine were doing it.

Hi Steven, my shots are barely acceptable. I put on an amFilm lens protector (probably tempered-glass). Do you think it negatively impacts the results?
@@StevenDivish I took about a hundred shots, in every mode (photo, panoramic, pro, raw pro, x3, x10, night shot, 4:3 200MP). 1. They all came up pretty flat, especially when I screen zoomed at 100% on my computer. Granted, it was on a cloudy day, but would it affects the shots that much? My manual setting was probably way off, but even the automatic photo mode looks bland. 2. Ultra's panoramic shots also look blotchy and washed compared to photo mode. S8 Plus seems more consistent in every shot. 3. I'm not a photographer, so I don't know what to look from these shots. I just felt Ultra doesn't give that much more detailed shots other than larger size compared to S8 Plus. Would you please take a closer look at my shots? I would show you the DNG files, but I have no idea where to upload such big files. Taken by S23 Ultra photos.app.goo.gl/C1S8oZ72Qb7g1VNt9 Taken by S8 Plus photos.app.goo.gl/JNPYscFUqTdRzVcz5 photos.app.goo.gl/jLxjvYV9Vjmtypce7
The thing I don't like about expert raw is it makes things look blotchy and unnatural with oversharpenning and noise reduction, which we can't control. Thought expert raw was only option to get computationally enhanced raw photos, but after trying a gcam app I found gcam to be much better option. It preserves all the details without oversharpening and extreme noise reduction which we can control to our liking as well in app settings.
You should have used the night mode on the tripod as the time of capture will automatically increase to give you better photos.. also u can press on the seconds bottom right and choose max

I find it easier to process a photo taken in automatic mode to the extent that it will be better than in manual mode. A flat image is good because it has a wide dynamic range. And then it's easy to add shadows and paints, and the result will be better than in manual mode.
Expert raw did make a huge difference. Thanks for showing us how. As for the last part, in settings you can make it so it saves your last settings and also so that it doesn't switch which camera you are using.
When it says EDITED in the picture, does that mean you did some photoshop type things to the photo? cause i would love to see the camera settings on auto, pro, expert raw, all unedited!
It looks good but there are visible artifacts on moving cars, which can be seen at 6:05, there are no cars, but rather a blurry mess instead of them, any way to fix that?

Superb... thx a lot! Even tho I konw a bit about photosettings I was afraid to try raw on my S24Ultra till I saw your tut.
some buildings turning on their light in expert raw result compared to auto, and that was the time you explore the perfect settings and us in internet just copy it... Thanks mate, you makes the one who bought S23U (including me) happier than ever
Hi Steven, my shots are barely acceptable. I put on an amFilm lens protector (probably tempered-glass). Do you think it negatively impacts the results?
Hey! Can you give me a bit more context, what mode/settings you’re using and in which scenarios, also what you don’t like about the photo

@@StevenDivish Have you got the chance to check out my shots, Steven?
can this be done on the new Pixel 9 pros? I know the have ISO and Shutter speed but can’t recall seeing a histogram or EV value setting??
I think your are the only content creator who tells the reality and truth about samsung capabilities .realy you made me fan of you😍😍
Thank you, appreciate the support!
What edits were made to the comparison photos? The first picture taken on auto mode is unedited, but all following were edits.
Started watching your channel lately, nice honest reviews
I appreciate that! Thank you!
A well composed video, definitely learnt alot from this video.
TQ 🎉
Thank you, I appreciate the support!
check the new video its super epic!
@@StevenDivish I did sir 🤭
Subbed to you because of that video.
Good job, keep it up!
💯🔥
The thing I don't like about expert raw is it makes things look blotchy and unnatural with oversharpenning and noise reduction, which we can't control. Thought expert raw was only option to get computationally enhanced raw photos, but after trying a gcam app I found gcam to be much better option. It preserves all the details without oversharpening and extreme noise reduction which we can control to our liking as well in app settings.
What's the app called?
@@romualdochavez9672 it's google camera app
SOLID.. YOU GOT ANOTHER SUBSCRIBER 👏👏👏
What gimbal do you have connected to your case and your tripod?
Cool smartphone and functionality. I pray everyone can have it
Wow u explain very well…btw great content…u just got a new subscriber😊
Thank you so much!
Damn bro, thats some great informative video. Now eagerly waiting for editing tutorial.
Thanks! working on it!
Great video! Did you know you can use the pen as a remote shutter button?
Wonderful video. I have S22U but with this evidence I may change to S23U. Can you make a video about portrait photos with expert raw
I have the Ultra 23, thank you very much for showing this. It’s helpful.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful!
You should have used the night mode on the tripod as the time of capture will automatically increase to give you better photos.. also u can press on the seconds bottom right and choose max
I'm glad I found your channel. I just bought my S23 Ultra and I truly want to make the most out of it. I wanted to capture great photos.
Yes, manual settings + practice and the results will be amazing!
@@StevenDivish I need guidance from someone like you then :)
@@rainerpavletic4814 glad to help! I share tips in every video, check the recent video about Pixel 7a, I share some tips on how to film vertical videos on the phone 🫡
@@StevenDivish Do you happen to have tutorials about using s23 ultra, or maybe any phone with gimbals for taking videos and/photos? I, along with my s23ultra, also got myself the Hohem iM6 kit. I wish to truly maximise the capabilities of the s23 ultra and Hohem Gimbal
@@rainerpavletic4814 watch my recent pixel 7a series, there are parts of me using the phone with a mobile gimbal
How do you got LR icon directly in the camera app? Will it show after installing LR or...?
THanks!
Bro you made me to love my s24 ultra more and more , simply you are the best
You're amazing dude. I was never interested in my camera. But you made me love it
Great videos! But, why do you shoot in 12mp only, when you could use 50 and 200mp options in PRO mode and 50mp option in Expert RAW?
Have you done any astro photography with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra? Thanks
Awesome video man! I almost never use auto for photos and videos, but I'll definitely start messing around with RAW mode it looks crazy!
Def give it a shot!
Thanks bro for this tricks as tips,
I Apply Your settings and the results is amazing 🤩❣️
oh wow this is amazing! thanks! do you have similar videos for daylight photography?
It looks good but there are visible artifacts on moving cars, which can be seen at 6:05, there are no cars, but rather a blurry mess instead of them, any way to fix that?
Now i want to buy a tripod for my S23 ultra. Which tripod would you recommend? Thanks for this video..
Thank you for watching! To be honest any tripod would work if youre just starting out. No need for anything fancy, I put some gear in the description you check there.
And btw if its your first tripod you can just check your local second hand marketplace online, there should be bunch of good value tripods at affordable price i'm sure
@@StevenDivish thanks, actually i do have a tripod where my LED projector is mounted. Thanks again
I really enjoyed this video. please can you tell me what tripod you are using? TIA
Great video thanks! I'll be waiting for the tutorial of how did you edited the photo to it's final result!
Editing this video right now!
Dude.... you're a real one for this!!!!! 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 Amazing breakdown!!!!!
Thank you!
Thank you Steven so much for another wonderful Tuition video ❤ your videos are so useful and the best on UA-cam 🏆📱any chance on tutorials for the S24 Ultra? Take care my friend ❤
I loved this review. By the way, there's an extended timer for Night Mode and from what I know, it gives you a overall better night mode shot.. Those 1 second Night Mode shots don't be coming out that great honestly..
Thank you!
How does this camera compare to the newer S24? Thanks !
Please watch my S24 Ultra videos, I cover it there
Good tutorial Steve. It's well put and the information is conveyed in a simple way with no jargon or difficult terminology. Thanks mate and keep posting more videos like this. Also talk about video shooting with the S23U.
Thank you so much! And thanks for watching! Will do!
How to focus to infinity on s24U, like othet phones have the mountain like option when focussing
Hey is that a gimble you're using for photography. My hands shake a lot while taking these shorts. Please let me know I'm a new user
Nice video, I learnt a lot. I'm looking forward to the upcoming editing video :)
Thank you!
Which phone stand is this, where to buy. May please share
What's the tripod and phone holder you're using and where can I get them?
That's what a quality video should be like 😍 keep up the good work bro👉💯
I'm that guy who likes the auto. I prefer the picture to look as if I'm looking at the view with my own eyes not an edited picture that looks like a piece of artwork of a picture. Loved your video.
Auto photo is edited by the phone itself, so I would say its only fair to edit the raw photos
Thank you so much for watching, I appreciate it!!!
This channel is really underrated. Great work Steven!
Comments like this make me wanna keep going! Thank you so much!
Brother, you deserve million subscribers, content is really good. Watching this on my S23 Ultra, eagerly waiting for video of how to edit RAW & other photos on S23 Ultra.
More Power To You!!!
Thank you so much! Editing the video Right NOW!
Lol to take shots in the dark😂 that's funny. I'm setting my phone up Monday. Thank you for this video.
Very informative video, tganks for sharing! Please give details about your tripod? Thanks!
Awesome video Steven! Can't wait to see your upcoming Lightroom video 😁
Thank you! Editing it right now!
It's not just a Night Camera Phone King but the overall Master. Salute to Samsung for pushing their brand from underdogs to excellent mastery.👌🏽 I'm a Xiaomi user and die hard fan. I know some tech is copied from other brands like Vivo and that's i like as they give us a great product at a budget price.
