I've been listening to metal since 1971, when I was 11 and heard Zeppelin.
This is my all-time favorite song, and it's by my all-time favorite band. I consider this song speed/thrash with a sprinkling of power metal. Virtuoso's all.

Midori, the blonde guitarist, went to music school to learn to play guitar around the age of 20, she is 35 now. Miyako, the brunette, taught herself how to play guitar at the age of 18, she is 33 now. So both have only been playing guitar for about 15 years. They both started out on piano as a child before switching to guitar.

Welcome to the realm of the Wolfpack (Lovebites fans). Lovebites' music is pretty diverse. They play a seamless and innovative blend of speed-power/thrash/prog/neoclassical metal/heavy rock/power ballads which makes their sound unique. An example is this track, "Judgement Day", which can be categorized as speed-power metal with some thrash and symphonic elements. Midori (blonde, stage right), aka "Crazy Shredder", started on piano at the age of 2 and is a graduate from the Musicians Institute, Japan (used to be called the Guitar Institute of Technology). She only picked up the guitar when she was 20. Miyako (brunette, stage left), aka "The Golden Touch", started on classical piano at the age of 3 and she picked up the guitar at the age of 18 and is SELF-TAUGHT. She got her hands on a "how-to" guitar book(s) and the rest is history. Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later.
They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted three performances from that DVD.
Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. She is self-taught on the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far-I encourage you to see and decide for yourself!

M&M (Midori & Miyako) on guitars are both spectacular musicians. Once somebody said it should be illegal to allow these two to be in the same band! Fami is a new miracle on bass. Can you believe she joined the band officially in oct 2022. (This concert dvd was filmed in March 2023) ? Haruna just beats those drums like they owe her money and the singer Asami is out of this world too! So never forget: No matter how good you are on your instrument, there is always a petite Japanese lady who can play it better! 😂

Throw away any preconceptions from your metal past. Asami-san, lead singer announces at the beginning of every show “we are Lovebites, and we play, heavy metaaaal” . And they do. They are their own genre. Influenced by thrash? Yes. Influenced by Maiden and Priest, Halloween and others? Yes. But Dean Flying V guitarist Miyako-san is a fully trained classical pianist. She was self taught at 18 on the guitar, but has been playing classical piano since beginning to learn at age 3.

During the period 2017 - 2023, these Ladies recorded 58 original songs and musical compositions + 3 covers of songs by HALESTORM, HELLOWEEN, JUDAS PRIEST + about 10 piano covers of classical works and rock songs.These ladies perform speed metal, thrash metal, progressive metal, power metal, neoclassical metal. LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015.
The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP".
On 18 June 2018, LOVEBITES won 'BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HAMMER.
On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full.

On August 20,2018, LOVEBITES announced that it has partnered with X-ray Touring, one of the largest players in the UK booking agent industry.
LOVEBITES toured the Netherlands, Germany, France and UK from November 13-21, 2018.
Asami (Vo) of LOVEBITES appeared as a guest on stage at Halestorm "Download Japan 2019(March 21)", singing alongside "Lzzy" Hale on Halestorm's 'Love Bites', which gave the band their name.

On 17 August 2021, LOVEBITES took an extended break after the departure of their leader, bassist Miho.
The remaining girls organised an audition for a new bassist from around the world and recruited a new bassist called Fami(Ba).
Fami is a five-string bassist who can dance, sing and play and has 680,000 UA-cam subscribers.

Asami(Vo) has been studying classical ballet since the age of 2. After graduating from high school, she moved to the U.S. to study jazz and hip-hop dance, where she was trained as a gifted musician.
While studying in the U.S., she got hooked on singing when she sang the national anthem for a minor league baseball team, and after returning to Japan, she auditioned for various singing jobs.
Originally, I was an R&B and soul singer.
Miyako(G - Key ‐ Piano Black hair) started taking piano lessons at the age of 3. At the age of 18, she discovered the electric guitar. Miyako was inquisitive and dexterous in everything she did, so she taught herself with a lesson book, and here she is today. Therefore, Miyako is original in the use of her left fingers. Miyako is good at tapping because she has been able to train the fingers of both hands on the piano. Miyako can also play the 7-string guitar because of her long fingers.
Miyako can also play bass. She can play drums a little.
Midori(G Those without black hair.) was introduced to the electric guitar while attending a well-known, top-ranked Japanese pharmaceutical university. She enrolled in the music school MI JAPAN Osaka to become a guitarist and dropped out of pharmacy school.
Midori likes to play tricky, outlandish phrases. Guitar kids say, "What the heck!" Midori says in an interview.
Twin lead guitarist partner Midori (G) first encountered metal while studying at a top-ranked Japanese pharmacy school and left pharmacy school to enrol at Japan ESP, a Japanese electric guitar training school, at the age of 20.
Haruna (Dr) started learning to play the drums at the age of 13.
He became obsessed with metal after seeing a heavy metal bant at a local live music club.
Until then, he had never heard a 2-bass drummer play and was shocked.
At the time, I was too small in height to play 2 bass drums, so I bought twin pedals.
Now I use bass drums with different diameters on the left and right side so that I can play 2 bass drums even with my short height.
Miho(Ba First Bassist) started playing in a band when she was in high school, but I have not seen any description of whether she is self-taught or taking lessons.
In an interview, she said she came across heavy metal on UA-cam when she was in high school and thought, "That's cool!" and got into metal music.
Miho is a finger picking bassist.
Fami(Ba New Bassist) taught herself to play bass guitar for a band at the age of 13, at the request of a friend, by referring to UA-cam videos and other sources.
Her playing style was originally slap, but she practiced finger picking in order to audition for the LOVEBITES.

Miyako, the black haired guitarist is self taught on guitar. She started learn to play when she was around eighteen. She is also a virtuoso / concert level classical pianist. She has played piano for thirty years and from the age of three until around the age of twenty, had expert tuition in the instrument.
Every style in the Heavy metal genre is covered by lovebites and they never disappoint ever. They are the most complete band of virtuoso musicians in the world today, be warned once bitten forever smitten 🤘🥁🎹🎸🎤🐺
The blonde guitarist Midori studied at the Music Institute of Tokyo (the Music Institute system is basically Japan's version of Berkeley or Juliard). Dark-haired guitarist Miyako is formally trained on classical piano (she's a world class concert pianist), but her guitar is a combination of mostly self-taught and limited formal training (she also studies under Midori).
