I distinctly remember bumping into this cover on youtube around 10 years ago. The original was always so good but this rendition somehow goes above and beyond and popped something in my head. At that time I was struggling at university, in a foreign country, when my daughter was only 4 years old and we barely could afford rent or food but somehow we managed to pull through. This performance of this song somehow always forced me to take a step back mentally and relax. All the worries just went away and I could only think about my little daughter and fiancee. Today, my fiancee and I have been married for 3 years, added two more kids and things are so much brighter. But I still keep coming back to this video. This performance somehow soothes me mentally and relaxes me. The lyrics are beautiful but I don't really pay attention to them. For me, Radiohead made this beautiful song but you somehow perfected it.
is it weird that i'm skipping over actual radiohead videos on youtube just to find Mike Masse's covers instead? i think it's a testament to this dude's pure talent. i appreciate how he adjusts his voice to the respective band that he is covering.
I've listened to EVERYTHING RADIOHEAD. Saw them at Radio City Music Hall in '98. Saw them on the In Rainbows 🌈 tour in Dallas. Searched and watched for live concerts online. Heard all their stripped down acoustic sets. I gotta say, I don't watch the mike Masse videos. I just listen and what I hear on this version of True Love Waits, moved me. Just like when I heard the haunting, "Rain Down" part of Paranoid Android for the first time. When I first heard the pain and soul in almost every Otis Redding song. Mike Masse, all i can say is thank you. I've been binging certain songs of yours over and over for the last two weeks. Good luck to you in all that you do. Keep it up the good work.
