You don’t need to lift heavy weights to gain muscles.. it’s a myth that you need to lift more heavy weights to gain muscles. It has to do with number of reps and the way you perform them in order to achieve muscle fatigue. Lifting heavy weights is for the “show”. A 2016 study called ‘Pumping Iron: Lighter Weights Just As Effective As Heavier Weights To Gain Muscle, Build Strength’ published in the Journal Of Applied Physiology found something interesting. It compared two groups of experienced lifters over a 12-week period in which one group used lighter weights (up to 50% of maximum strength) “for sets ranging from 20 to 25 repetitions. The other group lifted heavier weights (up to 90 per cent of maximum strength) for eight to 12 repetitions. Both groups lifted to the point of failure." The conclusion, using muscle and blood samples, said that gains in muscle mass and muscle fibre size were “virtually identical".

my ol football offensive coach was asian, dude was built like an ox and had logs for legs. his calves were so fucking huge dude i stg. he owned a crossfitting (lol ik) and a commercial gym and let the players go for free whenever we needed more weight training for the off/on season
I like the fact this guy doesn't seem arrogant just intense and passionate about training. He has learned about the importance of tuning out distractions and focusing on taking it out on the weights. I remember those good ol day's. I'm 41 now showing my son's Dad still has something left in the tank when I'm benching and squatting before my heavy day's are over. Great job young guy 👍

I am a frim believer in 5x5 :) , I am currently in deadlift trying to finish 190kg 5x5. I managed 185kg last week 5x5... Once I hit my current 5x5, I add 5kg. I do the 5x5 once a week, but I do my auxiliary lifts as well during the week. Hip thrust, leg press etc. and once a month I take a day and check my 1RM on a day where I feel good :D Form above all, the rest just comes... eat good and sleep well.
I think most gym goers have this positive attitude. When you see something absurd like this, you can't help but admire the amount of effort and skill it must've taken to get there.

But, the iron bug hasn't bitten like it used to. You couldn't get me to not work out. 6 days a week and I loved every min. Frigggin inspirational man, well done!

How do you get this far w/out knee injury? Ive built good legs just using machines but ik what you all might think of machines😂 My joints and tendons around my knees have always been too weak for barbell squat and deadlifts. I’ve trained legs for 3 years so far but I avoid the barbell squat and deads cause I always get damaged clicking noises around the knees after I do them :L. Bare in mind I also do my form correctly :L

It's all about how much you can pull vs your body weight in my opinion. Raw strength is great but proportional strength tends to serve you best for overall athletics.
These squats are especially impressive. He is going below parallel in the squat. In the weight lifting competitions I've entered parallel is what you need to have your squat count. It's crazy how much more you can do just going parallel

It's all about how much you can pull vs your body weight in my opinion. Raw strength is great but proportional strength tends to serve you best for overall athletics.

These squats are especially impressive. He is going below parallel in the squat. In the weight lifting competitions I've entered parallel is what you need to have your squat count. It's crazy how much more you can do just going parallel
It´s always amazing to see what a human body can achieve, when well-trained.
And it doesn´t matter in which sport, I´m always comparing it to my abilities as a regular guy.
