You speak the truth....Home Free is my favorite group and I agree it's a crime that more people haven't gotten to experience the immense talent of these guys. They are special. Your reaction was fantastic!
Mine too and I agree.
I agree with you 100% on what you said about the music industry today and the fact that Home Free SHOULD be mainstream & played on the radio every day!! 👍
I'm telling ya (since you brought up the Temptations again), you'll love their take on "Blue Ain't Your Color"!! It was a country song from Keith Urban. He actually asked Home Free to cover one of his songs, believe it or not! 😳❤ They turned it into a Motown doo-wop, complete with Temptations-esque dance moves!! 🔥🤯 It's epic!!
I was looking on their home page for a Temptations cover and couldn't find it. Thank you for jogging my memory. That's a kick-ass video!
As they say, Home Free doesn't do covers, they do upgrades. I think it was Sony they signed up with after winning season 4 The Sing-Off at the end of 2013. I think one of the reasons they wanted to go independent was the freedom they would have with a big label. Tim Foust (bass), Austin Brown (high tenor), and Adam Chance (baritone who sang bass in his former group) all have solo channels where they also perform with others who play instruments. Like Chance has videos with the Hound + the Fox. Tim and Austin also have a group of friends and Tim's in-laws who do smaller "backyard bashes" and "birthday bashes" called Sweet + Low Music Co. They also do a small rehearsal/concert for about 3.5 hours every month or so for Patreons above a certain $$, with the first 30 or so minutes open for everyone else. (Rob has a movie review podcast with his friend Beugs called The Avid Indoorsmen, and Adam is Dungeon Master for his D&D circle.) So they all have interests outside of Home Free. They aren't stuck with that one thing. Austin has also been doing a lot videos for a few songs he wrote on his tiktok channel, along with his wonderful lady Amberly. I love seeing the mischief between them for Hers Ain't Mine. And Everlasting Ground is beautiful. (Can you tell that Austin's my favorite?)
Tim Faust Will you still love me tomorrow/ Stay
you're going to be steppin' a lot going down this rabbit hole!! lol
You mentioned, The Temptations... They took Keith Urban's song, Blue Ain't Your Color and gave it a Temptations feel and look. INCREDIBLE!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Beware, urbans label like to block this song, but most reactors are able to filter the video and get it passed.
I 2nd this. It was what I was going to recommend. The contract they bought out was actually a 2nd contract....they wanted controll of their own art instead of a big studio telling them what to do, and taking up to 40% of the $$$ they were making. Do listen to their version of Country Roads...but do pause a number of times or it can get blocked.
...I may be wrong, but I thought I read in a comment section somewhere that Keith wanted them to do a cover of his song. Don't quote me, but I'm sure some of the other Home Fries will know for sure.
@@chrismorin1318 Keith's people did approach them to do the cover, but that doesn't matter when it comes to copyrights unfortunately.
Keith Urban definitely wanted Home Free to do his song he was pretty stoked about it..
They are 5 talented guys….. you should check out Adam Rupp, “beatboxer”, his own drum solo, or Tim Foust, when he blows a speaker….
Rob is considered the best singer by the entire group but each of these guys could have a solo career they stay together because they want to and also to respect their fans.
Tim doing his Doo-Woop all by himself is great. His range is out of this world. Try " Would You Love Me Tomorrow/ Stay".
I was so impressed when I saw the video of Rob and Austin singing Nessum Dorma. While I love all their voices, Rob’s voice is stunning.
@@guyray1504 Not yet! He needs a few more songs until he can do _Mayday._ THEN _Will you.../Stay_
Big labels dictate what songs you will do. Home Free wants to do their own thing. They travel the world and have fans everywhere!!
I love Boyz II Men and have played End of the Road (1992) so many times. I never thought I'd ever like a cover of this song. But Home Free did it, while maintaining the respect for the original.
How wonderfully sung by all! But for me it is mainly Rob who nailed it. What a great voice with so much soul in it. He touches me deep inside.
Of course it is the combination of the other leads, fantastic harmony, bone-feeling bassline and the inhuman vocal percussion that makes it complete.
I have become a home fry. I want to hear 👂 them on the radio NOW. AWE so darn GREAT. ❤
Reactor “ That Singer” Nick, calls him “ Gospel Rob”. 😂
Their “ Butts Medley” shows of their hip hop and comedy skills- can’t wait to see your reaction.
And you’d love their “ Let’s Get It On/ Thinking Out Loud” is also incredible.
They were signed to Columbia. Peter Barber does an interview with Tim Foust, and Tim talks about their record deal and why they bought it out.
Tim also does a wonderful interview with the charismatic voice it’s a wonderful interview he talks about his career trajectory and home free’s
Great reaction! These guys do an amazing job of this song! They can do any genre including R&B. Rob's voice has so much feeling & soul in it. Austin adding his higher tones, Chance is holding down the bass in the back, Tim adding some deeper bass notes & Adam with his fabulous vocal percussion. These guys are my favorite a cappella group out there. All their songs are good whether it is serious, heart warming or funny.
Phenomenal, authentic, hardworking, personable ... no end to the adjectives.
I 100% agree that everyone should know who Home Free are. They have phenomenal talent and are truly nice guys.
Really enjoyed your reaction and analysis.
This guy's are awesome and on this song one of the best ever they nailed it. This group is on fire.
Let us introduce you to our good friend, Gospel Rob! 😊
Loved your reaction and you’ve only just begun this amazing Home Free journey!!
I LOVE this reaction!
These guys a great, they can do it all. I listen to them every day. Any song suggested I will second. Enjoy the music.
This is why I think that Rob is the true hidden gem of this group.
That would be why he is called "Gospel Rob". They are ALL amazing, but Rob and Austin(but Especially Rob's voice) are my favorites. Oh we know who the temptations are. Amazing comparison. That's a compliment. Your reaction was INCREDIBLE and ENTERTAINING! thank you! ❤ Angel from Philly(fellow Home Fry)
OMG if they cover, I wish it would rain, my head will explode, oh shit, if they do Papa was a rolling stone, damn, you got me dreaming. But still can't wait to see you react to their numerous other songs, let's get it!
“Decent following” may be the biggest understatement of the year! I’m glad you’ve found Home Free. Loved your reaction! Genuine!
Great reaction! Home Free never disappoints ❤ They have such a great time together. They always bring a smile to my face😁 Check out their cover of "How Great Thou Art" to see another genre. Thanks #homefries
Shawn from Boys 2Men was a judge during the sing off, he loved these guys and he loved this when they sent him a copy! Amazing going to church Rob, let's loose!
When Rob tuns on the "Gospel Rob" it's something special! This is the best cover of "End Of The Road" I've ever heard, and it's not even close. Thanks for the great reaction! There's SO MUCH more of Home Free to explore. They don't miss.
I love these guys so much! I just hope some day I'll be able to have the money to see them in concert and they will have a concert near me when I have the money. (Utah)
You have heard Dire Straits sing " Brothers in arms " now you need to hear Home Free's cover of " Brothers in arms "‼️🤗 Awesome reaction 👏 ‼️
The same thing happened to Pentatonix. The contract they got for winning the Sing Off only lasted 1 year. Then they got dropped. Instead of selling out to some control freak label, they used UA-cam to become a music super group. Home Free wanted to stay in control of their own destiny. They are wonderful.
I think Home Free's 'revolt' is becoming so popular and beloved without the major parts of the music industry.
ear buds or headphones are about a must if you want to pick up on all sounds with this group. Miss alot without them.
Maaaan, talk about nostalgia. This took me right back! 😆
You are in for a long long journey with these amazing Men.. They can do EVERYTHING!!! I love your reactions they are just absolutely adorable..🏡🆓🏡🍟
Love your reaction! I've often wondered why these amazing men weren't mainstream.
Your comments are so spot on. Thanks for the reaction!!
❤️🤠 HF. Great reaction.
I still cannot believe these guys aren't known by nearly everybody, and why they aren't household names by now just blows my mind. I like a few other acapella groups, but these guys are on another level.
Love your reaction! I could listen to you all day, and agree with your comments about Home Free. Thanks!!
Rob(the guy in the brown jacket)studied opera in University- he's a wonderful singer, I could listen to him every day, all day.
You expressed exactly my feelings when I first learned of this group. Why didn't I know about this group? Why aren't they more famous? Where had I been? Under a rock? Especially when one considers how .many famous singers can't sing without auto tune or other props because they aren't that talented. Then I learn that they had given a concert. after the lockdown near me a whole week before I had discovered them
Home Free has been a group over twenty years and with these particular members at least six years. So why didn't I know about them years ago?
These guys can’t do a bad song. Their cover of I Swear and Stevie Wonder’s What Christmas Means to Me are also great covers. Shows off their fun sides.
Home Free is my favorite contemporary singing group. The industry looks down on acapella groups but Home Free has great original songs as well as covers that are just as good as the originals. I totally agree it’s a crime they are not household names and played on the radio.
The only reason someone, yes even like me once in awhile, is because of nostalgia reasons with regard to covers. I don't know how anyone is gonna top one of their originals.
I totally agree with you they are fantastic
Beautiful! Both the song and your appreciation of it!
Great reaction. They won a talent show called the Sing Off that is all A Capella. One of the judges was Sean of B2M. He LOVED THEM. I hope he has seen this. It's a totally tribute of love.
He did, He loved it.
Shawn Stockman
One of my favorite Home Free songs because of Rob in those closing seconds "going to church"
You need to see him do a drum solo
Home Free brings it everytime.❤
"He about to go to church!" Preach, brother Rob.
Loved your reaction, Home Free is wonderful and do about anything and always makes it there own in a good way. They got lucky the label did them well to where they were able to buy themselves out of that contract many so they have full control and no longer need to answer anyone else on what they do or how they do it.
You are incredibly fun to watch! I could watch your Home Free reactions all day long! Please do more 😊
Rob reminded of pure talent you are spot on with your comments
As previous commenters have noted, Acapella is looked down on by the music industry as a whole. Home Free has performed NUMEROUS times at the Country Music Association awards, yet the CMA fails to recognize their contribution. Pentatonix has a couple of Grammys…one for a collaboration with Dolly Parton. Look at how many country music and rock artists have asked HF to collab with THEM…yet no recognition. When Fox News put Lee Greenwood’s release of “God Bless the USA” on their YT channel, they completely left out Home Free in the title. Yet, Lee asked HF to work with him because he KNEW that they could carry the load of the song and leave him free to improvise as he never could before. Don McLean and “American Pie”’s 50th anniversary…he asked Home Free to collab. That song is a rock ‘n roll STAPLE. Don’t get me started on why PTX gets the praise and everyone who is introduced to HF asks “Are they like Pentatonix?…which, by the way, really irks me. These guys deserve a lot more recognition.
Home Free won a contract with Sony/Columbia Records. They were fortunate in that Columbia allowed them Free reign with their .music. ,What many people don't understand is that a contract is basically a loan for you to make s record. Then the record company takes .out of the profit.
Home Free frosted whether to win The Sing-Off when it looked like they could win. They had originally went on the show to get more exposure. Their only goal had been not to be the first group to be sent home. Home Free was already a professional regional group in the Midwest. They toured over two hundred days a year singing at state fairs,, corporate events , and st cruises as guest performers. They were making enough money to support their families. They did win the contest and the record company did treat them well. They then were at a new level in their career.
They later bought out their contract and started their own record company. They make most of their .money from concerts. The lockdown really hurt them due to not touring. They had to cut short their successful European tour leaving merchandise and props behind due to the US shutting down its borders. Their Patreon fees go directly to producing new videos which are expensive . Now they are trying to figure how not to tour as .much due to the fact that several of them (,Rob, Adam) have children . All of them are married except Austin who is the youngest but has a girl friend
Adam Rupp has won awards for his beat boxing skills!
Love your reaction to this song cause how can you not react that way to them singing this song. Home free is awesome I agree there should be no reason they shouldn't be real big
Love your reaction to this! Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
Being on the radio is not a primary goal of Home Free. They love the life they’re living, with time for family, individual projects and concerts. Home Free is an amazing gift to the world! ❤
Sir, I feel that you will love this..... and thanks for the review.
You should listen to it with headphones
Agree. Headphones make a huge difference with Home Free!
They definitely deserve more recognition ❤🎉
Caution: Home Free is highly addictive. They sing almost every genre from gospel to goofy and, since 3 of them are song writers, there are lots of originals as well as covers. They also tour 150-200 shows a year so there are lots of live videos as well. Finally, they each have their own channel(s) where they also post music. Fall down the rabbit hole like the world-wide millions of other Home Fries. Love from Canada.
The lead singer on this (Rob Lundquist) and the man with long curly hair (Austin Brown) are both classically trained. They have a duet of the opera aria "Nessun Dorma" on Austin's channel - mind blowing.
I love your reactions more with each one I watch!
I watched your reaction to Home Free's cover of "Mayday".
I saw Pentatonix first. It was good, but it just didn't TOUCH me. I didn't make it through the song before I turned it off. (Okay, Pentatonix fans, don't hate me!)
I had run into them by accident.
Then I ran into Home Free the same way. I had never heard of them! But something happened inside me, less than halfway through the very first song I heard them sing. "Man of Constant Sorrow", had me hooked in just seconds! They are the most amazing at harmony since my all time favorites, the Bee Gees! Each one of them is incredible!!!
Thank you, for loving them, too! 💜👍👏🤗
GOD BLESS! 🌞
Fantastic Reaction!!! I have been anxiously anticipating your reaction to this one since your first one!!! So happy!!
P.S. You have now been introduced to Gospel Rob! 😉😁
Huge fan base. I’m a home fry. They are incredible. They have so many songs that are fantastic! Welcome to the rabbit hole…called Home Free!
Some of my absolute favorites:
In the Blood, Brothers in Arms, God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, Cover Me Up, Butts Medley, All About That Base, Blue ain’t your Color, Crazy, My Church, Champagne Taste on Beer Budget, etc, etc, etc!!!!!!
Listen to them sing How Great Thou Art.
I see them in two weeks on August 12 I’m completely freaking out with excitement!!!!
Young man you got to get you some headphones it will put you in a state of mind.. I can't wait for you to get them you need some headphones get those I guarantee these beautiful men will melt your brain because there Harmonies are just outstanding you will be able to pick up every single one of their voices...🏡🆓🏡🍟
Start walking, bro 😂 they are insane !!!
I found out about Home Free on UA-cam, because I basically can't music passed 1989! I had all the groups and their cd's that I liked by about 1995! I only listen to classic rock stations because my music is from around 1975 to 1989! I can't stand rap or grunge or any of the stuff that came after 1989 unless it was from a group I already liked and bought their newer albums! I have watched some reactors that play newer music from after 1989 and I tell tell them how I feel about that artist and genre of music!
I grew up in the 60s and 70s, listening to Temptations, Sam Cook, Ike and Tina. My favorite was Percy Sledge singing When a Man Loves a Woman. Check out Home Free's version. Chill bumps!
nuff love respect to my fan
If you want to see more of Adam Rupp the amazing non-human, alien like talent of the best beatboxer ever, then check out his live drum SOLO!! Love your reaction!
That's good! Home Free has no shame either. If you look at some of their funny videos they like to make fun of themselves. You're gonna love them.
dude, serious, to blow your mind, look at the youtube vid of home free beatbox.... holy COW man.... will melt your brain.
Great job...love your comments
Shawn Stockman from Boyz II Men was one of the judges when they competed on Season 4 of The Sing-Off.
Ben Folds another one of the judges the year they were on called thenm Home Fry. The were signed by Sony/Columbia. The were on the year after the group Pentatonix. You should check out them doing Blue Ain't Your Color. Enjoyed watching your reaction.
You need to see them do "MAYDAY", they are amazing!!
If you are not a Home Fry yet, you will be, I am confident.😁
Sony. They really had to all the groundwork to get their music going and make their own business. Sony held the copyrights. Now they have their own label and they don’t exercise copyrights to block any reactor.
I went to their concert and they said they just released their ninth album in seven years
I'm enjoying your reactions and you are officially a Home Fries fan! Agree with you that they are amazing! HF is my favorite group...they can sing anything and do it justice. I listen to them every day because they make me happy. Found them in early 2020 when the lockdown was just starting. All I can say is if you get a chance to see them live, make it happen. I saw them in Portland, Oregon last September. They put on a great live show and Adam (beatboxer) always does a solo. They are going to be in Albany, Oregon on August 3rd for a free concert. I'm only about 15 minutes away so you know I will be there! Keep up the good work and check out some of their funny songs. They all have a great sense of humor but the music is always spot on! So glad you are reacting to them!
For you, this is like 'When A Man Loves A Woman' is for me. This is a masterpiece from your time, like Percy Sledge's song was from mine. You might love it, but it'll never be the original. You're right. The best and the brightest should rise to the top, but that's not how the world works. It's one thing to hide your talent under a bushel, but when you've showcased it like Home Free, everybody should have a chance to enjoy it.
Onlys reactions the video is wonderful and awesome when you hear them in person it's going to go a lot higher into a different level cuz you're sitting there experiencing it in the concert the reason I say that there's nothing like witnessing what's your actually hearing
You need to hear them do When A Man Loves A Woman
You need to listen to the Adam Rupp drum solo live!!!!
Yeah brother, he took us to church and you my friend haven't heard nothing yet!!!! PEACE!!!!!
The Beat boxers name is Adam Rupp and there is a video out on youtube of him performing only beatboxing/drum solo and it is crazy. Seach for that video and react to it.
They are independent and only do music they want to perform. By the way, they are fantastic live --- you should try to attend one of their concerts!
One suggestion: wear headphones for the full experience
Adam the beat-boxer has a concert video to really see his abilities
Sony was who they were signed with after their win.
Totally agree with everything you said! Maybe you should be their promoter!! Love what you said and how you said it! You just got a new subscriber!
According to Tim Foust, the Bass singer, during an interview, the reaason they bought out their contract with the big label record company wasn't that they weren't doing their job, they weren't promoting them properly, or anything like that. It was because they didn't want to have to keep paying them so much of the profits that were being made when they could produce their own records and keep all the money. You say they should be known world wide and they are. When covid hit they were in the middle of their European tour. when they were forced to come home. they are currently touring 9 countries and have 43 upcoming concerts. you really need to check out their youtube channel they have over 200+ videos on there. then you have Tim Foust, Austin Brown, and Adam Chance who all have their own solo channels. In which they will also blow you away!
I will say that i prefer their older music as it was more true a capella and now not so much imo since the use a loop station. But that is just my opinion and we all have one. It doesn't take away from their talent in any way shape or form.
I think Tim said it was Sony, in an interview....
You will surely like their version of the Doobie Brothers classic Listen To The Music. Another recommendation is their mashup of a half dozen butt songs in their Butts Medley.
Loved this reaction. I've always wondered why Home Free isnt "bigger" in the music industry. You pretty much expressed my thoughts on the subject. This is a definite subscription for me - thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!
If you truely want ot go to church with Home Fee react to how great tho art, second my church, then they have several classic gospil song and chrismas songs. And they have a hole list of funny and fun songs.
Not to mention thier phenomenal Christmas songs. They do some amazing stuff.
The problem is to be played on the radio, or “popular music outlets”, you have to give yourselves over to large corporate organizations like Sony. Those corporations then have some dictator that tells you what, and how to sing the songs that THEY approve of. Support Home Free, and others, that resist corporate control, and bring you true music.
You need to listen to Adam rubb's drum solo. It's over seven minutes long, you will be amazed.
