Congratulations to those who have now came to the end of DRY January with myself included! I have looked into my habits of drinking and working on my behaviour and relationships with alcohol and working out things in my everyday life , I am now ready to stay sober. I will now continue on my journey with the new tools I have found I will use moving forward into FOUNDATION February ❤️
"Cutting back" on alcohol for a recovering (11.5 years) alcoholic like myself is a joke. One was too many and 1000 wasn't enough. After 40 years, I had drunk all the fun out of drinking. It was the best decision I ever made.
I have been doing a dry month several years now. A lot of my friends are doing the same now. My advice is to try to keep many of your social aspects of your life the same after a week or two. I found out that going out to concerts, bars, etc can actually be enjoyable. Being sober in these situations helped me understand that I could still have fun and not be drunk.
I drank 375mls of Whiskey on Dec 30 while watching a game. I'm working out like a maniac and cleansing with green tea and alot of water. I love Whiskey but dry Jan and Feb is a my goal so far
I'm an alcoholic, also a slug. Rapid heart beat, and hallucinations? Where do I sign up? I drank a half a bottle of wine/ day for the last 25 years. I started Dry January. The first Monday, second and third Sunday's had the biggest craves. Otherwise it was not as difficult as I imagined. I consumed somewhat more sugar, but less carbohydrates. I also started an exercise program. NOTE, I already wanted to stop drinking, so I was mentally prepped for this. I might resume drinking again, but will give it up for Lent, on 2/14. ( I need a reason to change my behavior). Also there is Dry July, which I will observe too. Good Luck all.
My life is shit , alcoholic, haven't had any serious withdrawal, anxiety irritable what's new , actually 2 weeks in I've more energy and am less anxious

Great insight!
I bought myself some really nice tea to inspire myself to drink something other than alcohol, and it works pretty well!
I love doing that as well! The process of making the tea is just as calming sometimes too.
Can I ask what kind of tea?
@@augirl15 I got some looseleaf Earl Grey and some lapsang souchong from Upton Tea Imports.

Im still on Dry January I did it to Focus on Work and my savings felt like drinking kept me distracted from financial goals

Another thing to thank the Finns for! Interesting history!
"Post war campain in 1942? The war ended in 1945. It was a campain to recruit more soldiers. "Stop shoting - get shot".
