Maybe they listened to the choir. Seriously, listen to the choir in the background, they keep singing "Guys and dolls, guys and dolls, guys and dolls, guys and dolls" over and over again. I thought when the clip started it might be "Guys and Dolls", but I wasn't sure. But when the choir kept singing the title of the musical it was obvious.

That Thing You Do isn't a musical at all. It's a movie about musicians. No one breaks out randomly into song, which is the Hallmark of a musical.

My heart exploded when they played "One Day More" for Les Misérables 💕 me personally I would've played Éponine's solo and the transition to Enjolras's just so they could see how wonderful the transitions in that song are plus they just so happened to be my favorite parts in the song

I was born after 2000, I grew up watching the Disney movies before that year ( as well as others), then again I’ve always loved the classics, Disney or not!
I grew up watching Benji, Mary Poppins, The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, Singin In the Rain, E.T, ( original) Adventures In Babysitting, The Karate Kid, Swiss Family Robinson, The Moon Spinners, the original Karate Kid Trilogy, The Black Stallion, That Darn Cat! (1968), Back to the Future, The Moon Spinners, Oliver!, EVERY Disney animated movie, Stand By Me, Escape from Witch Mountain, Annie (1982), Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Rudy, etc. All of those movies I grew up watching as a kid. 😊
I watched Marry Poppins like so many times as a kid I couldn’t even count! My Mom had to get the movie fixed that how many times I watched it!!

i don't typically think of That Thing You Do as a "musical". but it was one of my first favorite movies as a kid, and I still love it so much.
1) Ive never seen Moulin Rouge before. But that scene really moved me... incredible.
2) Les Mis. Is just so mind blowing. The sheer emotion, talent, the story. Phenominal

2) If you think the film version of Les Mis was good...See it live in stage or listen to any of the other recordings out there (preferably the 10th anniversary cast) and have your mind blown

I'd argue, "That Thing You Do" isn't a musical. They only play one song, repeatedly. And they don't just break out into song, they play it ad a band. So in my opinion, Great movie... Not a Musical.
