Sophia, you're doing great! I remember your early days!! I'm on a decluttering journey too, years long as well. I laughed because you stressed over not getting rid of mugs. My guilty pleasure is buying seasonal mugs, I LOVE mugs, and look forward to my morning coffee in my cute mug. I keep my collection in a decorative cabinet in the dining room and I switch out the mugs in my kitchen cabinet according to the holiday. Right now I'm having fun with all my Valentine's mugs. I agree that we're not all made to be minimalist, and we set the rules for our own households and how much stuff we're comfortable with. Yes, I'm trying to declutter and downsize the STUFF in our house, but there will always be tons of mugs. Lol They bring me joy! I think people forget that we are allowed to keep items that bring us actual joy. Don't feel guilty!! You're doing great!!
12 years! This is why I love your channel so much! You keep it real. Can’t wait to see what more you get arid of or talk yourself out of it letting it go and keep it!
I have been watching you for years, and YES, your decluttering skills have improved and you are such a joy to watch. Thank you for being so inspirational. You let us know what "normal" is and to go at our own pace. You are wonderful! TFS. 😊❤👍☕️
Been with you from the beginning! And you have made so much progress over the years, it’s definitely working! I finally did my first big decluttering in Feb 22, and for this discussion …I decluttered down to 2 mugs…. Got rid of the twin bed sheets , except for the grandbabies , purged down to 4 bath towels…Ironically my 82 yr old mother moved in 8 months later, VERY suddenly and completely unexpectedly, and I actually had to BUY 2 mugs , 2 sheets of sheets and we are always washing bath towels ! My brain tried to convince me that is the reason not to continue the purging…. But keeping anything because SOMEDAY your mother might move in and need a mug is not a rationale argument. Keep going and know that you are motivating someone out here ! Here’s to another 10 years Sophia!
New subscriber here! You are delightful to watch. Very calming manner and voice. At 78 I’m not in a big rush, but surely need the motivation to get going! Thank you!
I'm retiring at Easter and can't wait to declutter my kitchen. Everything is going. I'm only.keeping 6 of everything. I work at a school and I have accumulated many mugs over the years from the children. I just can't do it anymore lol.
@@rebelwithacause. I always just give them gift cards, teachers can get what they want. Im sure they end up with a lot of mugs, candles, cookies and etc. i figured they probably won’t mind getting gift cards from me and makes it easier for me too. 😊
Yay! I love decluttering with you! What you say is exactly what I am thinking when I am going through my stuff. What makes sense for you to keep may not be what I would keep, but that's ok, because it's your kitchen! And that's ok. I am also a mug person. I have a small collection of cat mugs that I don't use because they are too small, but I love them, so they will stay. However, I only have one shelf in one cabinet to keep them along with ones that I do use. So, not to enable you 😉, but to merely share an organizing tip, I bought one of those wire shelves that allow me to have two rows of mugs that only take up one shelf. Every now and then I get to capacity and have to let some go that I don't use anymore or that get chipped to make room for a new one. I still get to look at the mugs that I love on the top tier, while using the mugs that have enough ounces for my tea!
@@mygreatchallenge, I know what you mean, I don't have a table and chairs in my kitchen. But the upside is: we can eat without looking at all the clutter and mess I seem to produce while cooking 😁.
I just posted two mugs and an unopened bag of tea on Buy Nothing. Amazing what a little motivation from Sophia and a coffee in my favorite mug can do on a lazy Sunday!
The hardest thing for me to get rid of in my kitchen, was my mugs. But does 1 66 yr old, need 27 coffee mugs!🤔. Many were gifts from co-workers and family. But I whittled my collection to 8. I received 2 more for Christmas last year, and purged 2 of the older mugs. Still working on my kitchen. So hard because I love my kitchen items and who knows when I'll need something in the next few years.😉
We have at least 30 mugs, not counting the travel ones. Some are Christmas, some are a Rae Dunn set, some are from special trips as a family…. I love them and don’t mind the space they take up. 🤷🏼♀️ I love choosing my mug each morning for coffee, and then choose a different one at night for tea. 🥰
Im going thru my cabinets right now and i cant stand looking at all the stuff I have accumulated. My husband once said to me that when I say I’m purging, what im actually doing is moving shifting stuff around. He is so, so right. Now I have to shift stuff straight out the door. There is and has always been (35 years) two of us, but I have enough stuff in my house for 25 people….kitchen, clothes, crafts, bedding….on and on it goes. I cant see the stuff I love and use for all the extra stuff I have. This year is the year when I truly purge.
You're decluttering series in the past helped me so much. Now it's so much easier and so much less stuff. It really is freeing. Cleaning takes so much less time. I'll be doing the decluttering along with you. Thank you for doing it again.
Ooh, just had a wild idea…. You could cut a piece of wood and add a 4th shelf in the cabinet. They sell the shelf clips at the hardware, and that would make use of all the air space not being used currently. ❤ I love doing this on shelves that have short contents. 👍 (platters etc)
Hi Sophia, I have a shelf full of mugs, 3 mugs deep and stacked 2 mugs high. That is after my declutter of them which I did the first week of December. I also bought 3 more because I wanted some “to go with my colour scheme”. I’ve recently changed the lower cabinet doors to navy blue, the upper cabinets are still white. After 10 years of a black and white kitchen I needed some colour in my life. Kitchen is now finished so both my husband and i decided we need to start decluttering our whole house. His mother died last year and he came to the conclusion that she was a clutterbug and he’s heading in the same direction. I’m not so bad, but I still have stuff that needs to go. This year is going to be the year for the big declutter. One room at a time. Each room may take a month, as you say, it’s a process. But we’ll do it. We don’t want our children to have to spend months going through the house when we die, like we did when his mother died. It took 8 months! So that’s our plan. Today you’ve inspired me to make a start, so I re-homed a dinner service to my son and his fiancé. They moved into their first purchased house last year. They had very few plates 2 I think they said. Well done you! Thank you for getting me moving on the big declutter!
Hello Sophia! I've been watching you for yeeeeeears now :) I love your declutter videos, they actually were the first videos on yt that inpired me to declutter :) I can't wait for more to come :) ! Greetings from rainy Poland :)
You are such an inspiration for all of us who struggle to declutter. This room by room, area by area idea is great. I also get distracted easily and this approach would help me focus and stay on track. Congratulations on 10 years. Awesome job. Looking forward to many more years here. God bless you and your family.

I know that people bring back mugs from their travels. There are all sorts of mug collectors. Mine don't really have a rhyme or reason. I like a large mug. I prefer pottery ones but rarely find them thrifting and they tend to be very expensive in general. I just find it amazing what people end up collecting or amassing over time. We are all so different.

It's organized and clean AND YOU HAVE SHELF LINERS! That's a win! There is nothing wrong with keeping something just because you like it. I would think if it makes you happy it is fulfilling a purpose.
It's so hard to part with mugs. I finally decided to get rid of any that weren't microwaveable. That made it easy and I haven't missed them. Good job Sophia.
Today I've been working on paperwork, one big bag ready to be burnt in hubby's workshop woodburner or shredded and put in the compost bin. I need to clear out mugs too. Happy New Year x
I think u have came a long way dont feel guilty about keeping stuff you use and love. I love my mugs as well I have one whole shelf designated for mugs and when I get a new one I get rid of one I don't love no more. Thanks for sharing
Hey Sophia, I had the same problem with the smaller plates not really a space of their own and what I did was I bought at the dollar store one of those small shelf organizer and put it over the bigger plates to place the smaller plates, it made putting the plates away a whole lot easier. We will be organizing our whole lives because we go into different stages of life and our taste or needs change. I decluttered yesterday and today a little bit of clothes and books.
I enjoyed watching you clean and organize. I too, have to start going through my dishes. Maybe I can make more room and get that shelf paper down I bought. I have quite the collection of dishes. But now I find my Tupperware collection is taking over where my baking sheets and casseroles once were. Trouble is I don’t really want to let go of anything.
I bought the Pioneer Woman shelf liner and love it! It doesn’t crinkle up and brings me joy to see how pretty it is! No to the $Tree stuff-didn’t like it at all!

I’m a huge tea drinker as well. And only tea. And I love larger mugs. So got rid of most of the smaller ones. I have too many mugs but I rotate them. I have Christmas mugs, winter/ fall and rest of year mugs

did anyone else notice the Cardinal mug in the "next" cupboard? I had to LOL. This is because I don't see things either when they have been in front of me for years!
Scott has 2 of those mugs. He apparently hides that one in another cupboard because of Edward using mugs as glasses. The two cardinal mugs are Scott's exclusive coffee mugs. I don't know why.
You made me laugh several times in this one, thank you! My husband makes fun of me for all the mugs we have (I'm not "allowed" to buy any more hahaha). I think i have more mugs than you, if that helps!
I have way too many mugs ( 3 shelves) , bowls and Jugs for just me but i love them and i am ok with that. I go through my cupboard twice a year and declutter what i don’t love. Life would be boring if we were all the same 😊 I live a good declutter video ❤
The dishes might be chipped and there might be dust bunnies in the corners of the living room BUT of all UA-camrs your home is the one I most would love to visit!
I’m so thankful you are doing decluttering. I just moved from a home with 3100 sq ft of living space and more built in storage then I ever needed to a 1800 sq ft home with hardly no built in storage. I’ve edited down twice so far but I feel I need to do it again.
That was an inspiring video! I love your sense of humor! I think I will start this one cupboard at a time...that is "do-able" Congratulations on 10 years of You-Tube!
What about those white wire shelves for stacking dishes? They add extra room to cupboards and easier to put away dishes when they are not stacked on top of eachother.
Ha! Laughi g at you contemplating getting rid of chip bowls! I have several I’ve been contemplating getting rid of ( more like procrastinating) I guess I need to get rid of them now 🤪🤪🤪
Something fun to do when decluttering large collections of things that you really love but need to reduce…take a pic w you and your collection. Print if off and put pic inside the cupboard. I think it would make you happy 💜
A Hoarders ♥️ on UA-cam is doing Clutter Free in 2023!! We had to get rid of lots in 2021 as we flooded. But I’m going through more as hubby retires in 2 years and we will be moving.
Hi Sophia , love everything about your videos I have learned so much from you ❤, thanks to you I now collect Blue cornflower CW 😍, can’t wait for the next video !
Love it; I’m continually decluttering-it’s an ongoing process. Just realized that I wasn’t using a lot of my stuff and I had to many Knick knacks. Like you I love pottery, ceramics and vintage. I’ve just decided that when I bring in something new I have to move something out.
I have a lot of mugs also I'm currently decluttering my apartment we seem to accumulate a lot of cups seasonal Xmas valentines day etc but we gravitate towards using the same mugs all the time
I would love to have cute mugs but I also love mugs that match my dishes. So that's what I have. I do have a hand full of special mugs, the Wizard of Oz mug and Peanuts mugs, that's it.
I use bowls and plates with chips in them for bases under my plant pots if I can’t bear it let them go ☺️

That was an inspiring video! I love your sense of humor! I think I will start this one cupboard at a time...that is "do-able"
Congratulations on 10 years of You-Tube!
Go for it!
Love decluttering / re-organizing videos! 🤗
What about those white wire shelves for stacking dishes? They add extra room to cupboards and easier to put away dishes when they are not stacked on top of eachother.
OMG...I have the same yellow rimmed bowls and plates with the yellow flowers!!!!! I love them!
Got them at a thrift store. We really like them but they do chip easily.
Love your attitude, Sophia! Love your decluttering videos💗
Loving declutter 2023. Very motivating.
You look so beautiful, love the curls! Yay to possibly bringing your tea closer to the mugs. Thank you for all you do! 💙
Love your declutter videos 👌🏼
You’re gonna hate that liner!
Thank you for this video. It got me off my butt and on to cleaning the shelf above the oven. Yea!!
Yes and Amen. Love my knick knacks and all my cups and candle stick holders. I am not getting rid of any thing. Did that and still have major regrete.

You are inspiring. Thank you for the good example.
I always love it when you start to declutter again 😊 i will be watching en loving your stories. From Bianca in The Netherlands.
Hi Sophia , love everything about your videos I have learned so much from you ❤, thanks to you I now collect Blue cornflower CW 😍, can’t wait for the next video !
I love your videos Sofia.
I've been watching your vidios for years and I still enjoy.
Love it; I’m continually decluttering-it’s an ongoing process. Just realized that I wasn’t using a lot of my stuff and I had to many Knick knacks. Like you I love pottery, ceramics and vintage. I’ve just decided that when I bring in something new I have to move something out.
I have a lot of mugs also I'm currently decluttering my apartment we seem to accumulate a lot of cups seasonal Xmas valentines day etc but we gravitate towards using the same mugs all the time
I just counted…31 mugs!! And it’s only my husband and I that use them! Definitely time to let some go!
Oh I forgot..also have 4 more Christmas mugs I didn’t include 😁
Your fine with your Coffee and Tea Mugs; you all use them and you enjoy them.
I would love to have cute mugs but I also love mugs that match my dishes. So that's what I have. I do have a hand full of special mugs, the Wizard of Oz mug and Peanuts mugs, that's it.
Real life, appreciate it
