Got up before my husband today and was playing with the cats and drinking coffee, and I thought, “I wish there was a new video from Benita to watch right now.” I turned on the tv and opened UA-cam, and 🤯 there is a new Benita video!!! 🎉😂 YAY! This made my day 😂😂🥰
Aww, I’m so happy you’re happy!
She posts every other Tuesday without fail.
I love the holiday season but it's so refreshing to reset the home after.
I feel exactly the same way!
The music (and the nice low volume) were so relaxing in this video!
So glad you enjoyed!
My holiday decor takes me 5 minutes to put away. I've really pared back what is important to me. As I always do each January, I go around the house to check for areas that might need attention. I am so proud of myself.......I could nothing that needed attention this year!! Your channel has really helped me a lot through the years and I have to thank you Benita for helping me reach this stage and goal in my life.
I’m so happy to hear that you’ve found my videos helpful!
my father used to say, a pile for everything and everything on its pile - he was messy and when he was in the army (WW2) the sergeant told the commander to NOT touch anything on his desk because he knew where everything was...because I worked for my father, I became that way too which was why I needed to learn about decluttering and proper storage of important items....thats where channels like yours come in - it helps me to keep up with my anti-hoarding and clutter-free existence. So thank you for another inspirational video. My wish is for a prosperous 2025 to you and yours ♥
So happy if you find these videos useful!
Extreme minimalism for me this Christmas, Just a few lights in my plants. I LOVED it. And bonus: 5mn to declutter the whole thing. It was such a relief this year!
A happy year to everyone❤
The ease of fewer decorations is just👌🏻! Happy new year!
I was the same and I actually preferred it to having a tree (and the expense!). Just a few lights and candles. Hardly anything to pack away...definitely the way forward for me.
@@RosalindaCarroll271 Heaven!😄
Benita, I love this video!
A couple years ago I decluttered Christmas.
We’re seniors living in a small condo, but I had always put up a lavishly decorated 5’ tree, a couple of wreaths, Christmas throw pillows, and quite a bit of tabletop decor. Even though everything had been quite expensive, it all went to the donation centre.
Now, I have Christmas in a box. In it are:
* four small-ish mercury glass battery-powered Christmas trees of
different sizes and design
* three boxes of small-ish glass ornaments that go into a glass bowl
along with hidden battery-powered votive candles
* one adorable Christmas teddy bear gifted to us by my sister
* one throw with a holly berry and leaf design
That’s it, that’s all, and I love each item that was so carefully chosen.
Best New Year wishes to you and yours, Benita! 😊
So glad you enjoyed it! I love the sound of your decluttered and carefully curated holiday decor!
It must have been challenging to do that. Many of my Christmas decorations have so much sentimental attachment.
These are my hard limits: 12 linear yards for books; one basket for tablecloths and one for napkins/placemats; bed linens that fit in a trunk; 2 towels + 2 bathmats +2 hand-towels (+ a few old thin ones for cat clean-up emergencies); one drawer for candles; wool throws, linen wraps, and pillow covers must fit in an under bed bin; seasonal decor (not including Christmas) must all fit on the top shelf of the closet. If something new comes in, another piece goes to be donated. Keeps me organized. No one would call me a minimalist, but everything has a place.
You do have the a place for everything down!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m preparing to move across the US in order to care my folks. I won’t go into what it’s going to take to prepare for the move, but I want to thank you for the inspiration I most definitely needed at this time. Until next time…be well.
That’s a big undertaking, what a sweet daughter you are!
Love your home and how nice
you keep everything.
Thank you so much! I do enjoy keeping it nice and tidy 😊
I love it too
How a died in the wool maximalist like me can derive so much please from watching your films is beyond my ability to comprehend!💝
Haha! Happy that you’re still enjoying them!
I love your videos, they are calming and beautiful! I too just decluttered over ten years of our business paperwork and bought a shredder at the op-shop and shredded it all. I then spent a few afternoons compressing and making paper bricks for our fire from the shreds. totally recycled and paper clutter free! My mantra for decluttering is a bag or boxful out to one item in. This has made getting rid of stuff and keeping the house clutter free easier. I bet everyone who visits your home feels calm and relaxed when they leave! We find our guests linger longer these days, as the house is a lot calmer and less visually cluttered!
Thank you! I love how you handled your paper clutter!
I remember back in the chezz larsson days.. and how you have evolved into your own style of minimalism. I keep improving myself so inspired...
I have come a long way since then😅
I am taking my tree down today, watching this video was just right. Decluttering is a great mutual topic and I have found reading books about decluttering and tidying relaxing.
I totally agree with you!
This came out at the perfect time for me! Just got home from my holiday vacation, and have been so motivated to declutter some problematic areas of my home. I was so ready to get things done that I had to pause the video and start making progress (came back to finish the video after😉). Got totally decluttered under both of my sinks and it feels great! Living in a small apartment, keeping things neat and organized is so important, and your videos have helped me so much over the years!
Happy Tuesday Benita!
P.S. Your dad's mantra of "A place for everything, and everything in its place" has become words to live by for me!
Yay, it came in useful right away! Makes me so happy!
I feel like this is like a "Best of Benitas Tipps" :-) - Containing the items (= if the allocated space is full, something needs to go), you dont have to declutter everything as once, just keep what you need, use or love, etc. Perfect! For me, having 1 box of decor, 1 box of hobbies (paint, fabric,etc)1 box of tools, 1 small ox of silverware, 1 box of documents..it all helps to contain and urges you to make decisions before stuff accumulates your habitat.
I’m so happy you enjoy the videos!
I decorate to celebrate winter, not Xmas, so I keep my decorations up until spring. They mostly consist of candles and plants that I overwinter indoors. I love the look of lights in the windows on a cold, dark night. I was kind of sad to see you take the paper start light come down--it seems so pretty and not at all cluttery.
To us the paper stars are traditional Christmas decorations so to remove Christmas you remove the stars 😅
I do the same, i have the 4 seasons covered and some things are used in all 4 with a little tweaking. We moved 9 years ago with 2 giant totes, 4 regular sized ones, a bag of lights, and a 6.5ft tree in bag for seasonal decor. We now have 1 ex large tote, 2 regular sized ones sized and a tree in a bag and a partridge … 🎼
Your videos are always so calm, yet packed with useful information. I love the idea of rearranging the decor. I always leave your channel inspired! xoxo
I’m so happy if the video left you inspired!😊
There are several basis ways that I declutter. One is as I got through the day, no matter where I am, I look for or perhaps notice that I can declutter an item. The other way is to choose an area to declutter. Sometimes I set a timer and often keep going and other times I stop when the timer bings. Another is seasonal...like Christmas or spring...then I am in the garden and shed or garage when I store garden and misc. items in addition to my car. In addition to feeling better with less stuff, it gives me great pleasure to know that someone else will soon be enjoying these items. I give some to the thrift shop and some to the free shop. I think of myself not so much a minimalist, but as someone who does not have too much stuff...yet I find it amazing how I keep finding so much to give away. Sometimes they are large items and sometimes just small ones.
I appreciate all the videos of youtubers who are minimalists as they are always motivation to continue. Sometimes, they mention something that I had not thought of ...that I could give away. Now it is time to check the Christmas decorations to be put away. So thank you Benita for mentioning to check what I did not use this year even though I did check while choosing items to use. I find it is oftentimes important to "double check"!.
Thank you for all those tips!
This year, for christmas decor, I just decorated my 4-piece-candle holder with alder cones I collect plus 2"Herrnhuter" Stars which brought cozy warm light into my flat. It was perfectly cozy!
That does sound very cozy!
Thank you for inspiring us to tidy our spaces and choose items we love to decorate our rooms.
Thanks so much for watching!
You made me laugh. You decluttered some spaces 🤣. I've got a whole house to declutter. Both sons changed housing and went from big to small. Very small. And guess where all is dumped? Oh, well. But the Christmas deco is away and only needs to go to the attic.
Uhoh! 🤣 They owe you now!
@@BenitaLarsson Big time.
None of the four people I live with (husband and three teens) are neat, organized, or minimalists, so I'm always the bad guy ("we don't need that", "that won't add value" "it's not worth having to store and take care of this" "it's wasteful" "this fabric is basically plastic" "if your things are in their place it'll be easier to get ready for school" "let me help you pair down so it's less of a chore to clean your room" "it doesn't matter that your friends have five of these, one is good" etc.) Seriously, couldn't at least one of my kids be naturally organized??! Sometimes I despair because it's like walking upstream. But after watching your calm, encouraging video (as usual), I am motivated to do what I can today because it still makes ME happier to have a clean, minimal, organized home. Thank you! (You have mentioned that your ex wasn't a minimalist, but was your son when he was growing up? He seems to be organized now:)
I’m happy if you can still find some encouragement from the video! Wille and Victoria have paired down a lot recently, I just told him the other day that it feels quite minimal. So there’s hope!
Watching you tidy up got me motivated to clean up the holiday decor... feels nice to clear the spaces again!! Thanks Benita 🙂
So happy if the video left you motivated!
Benita I just love your videos. I watch them all. I decluttered my Christmas decor before putting it all up this year & when I took down the decor last week I decluttered more. I did something different this year. I took photos of everything I have before packing it away & put those photos in a folder on my phone. I did this so when it comes close time next Christmas, I can look on my phone & see just what I have. I'm hoping this will help eliminate the temptation to purchase new decor just because. I love being VERY organized in my home (it's an obsession I'm afraid) 🙂One thing I love about your home is how organized it is. "you're a girl after my own heart!❤
I love your photo tip!
Nice to see the paper star put to bed for another year. ⭐️
So pretty and perfect!
This was another great one! After watching your videos, I can hardly wait to jump up and start decluttering! SO motivating.
Yay! Have fun!
Happy new year, Benita and all her followers 🎉❤
Happy new year to you too!✨
As usual, you’ve inspired me to get organised. I always switch up my small decorative pieces, putting some away in a box for a few months then “unearthing” them when I feel the need to have a fresh display. Helps me to make small changes that add interest to my rooms.
So happy if you felt that the video was motivating!
Lovely, thank you, Benita. Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤
Thanks so much for watching!
Thank u so much Bonita! This video was so helpful and motivating and also extremely relaxing and calming at the same time. I appreciate ur hard work so much!
Aww, thank you, that's so sweet!
Hallo Benita, happy new year and thank you for the wonderful and helpful content! 🙋♀️
Happy new year! Thanks so much for watching!
I took down my decor on boxing day as I too started mid November. I haven't decided what I am decluttering but some items have to wait for someone to take it down to the recycle area as it's large. Clothing is something I am constantly repairing to keep from buying new. Not buying new plants until spring. I reuse my holiday gift bags for giving gifts the next year. You are always inspiring Benita :)
Thanks so much for watching!
A great set of tips to get the New Year started off on the right foot. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching!
Happy New Year, Benita🥂🌟 It is right that dedicating a specific place to every item is crucial for having a tidy, organized home. I learnt that back then when I worked as a flight attendant many many years ago and applied that to my private place! On board, every piece of equipment, may it large or tiny, has to be stored in a specific place for safety and organisation reasons - the crew taking over the airplane for the next flight needs to find everything in its place ready to use. Everything else would cause complete chaos. And due to limited space capacities you have only necessary items on board and nothing that messes up... Ever since, my home is organized and tidy and I avoid owning unnecessary stuff and declutter as soon as anything seems to pile up! Best wishes to you 🍀
That makes total sense! Happy new year!
Thank you Benita. Your videos always seem to come at the right time for me. I am into the same feeling at the moment too of resetting after Christmas. I was feeling rather stuck after an overwhelming Christmas season and seeing you tidy in your lovely home has inspired me to carry on with my own journey. Thank you so much. Your home is beauitiful.
I'm so happy if my video is helpful to you!
Another great video, dear Betina!
This time I put away the Christmas decorations and the Christmas tree on December 31, 2024. I used to wait for the first week of January. This time I wanted to be free of the Christmas decorations on the first day of the year and start the new year! I found it very inspiring :)) The days are short here too (south of Germany). I put small lights on the window sills. It's cozy and beautiful.
Your videos inspire me a lot. Thank you for sharing your life with us❤
Thank you so much for watching!
Tomorrow the Christmas decorations are coming down 😊. They went up mid December, as my daughter asked that they go up after her birthday 🎂😊. I need to do a clear out of the large cupboard that is in the laundry room 😮. It will be nice to get stuff out of the house 😊. Thank you for the inspiration, have a lovely week.
That sounds like a fun project!💪🏻
Ich liebe deine ruhige Art und deine wunderschöne Wohnung. Danke für deine Videos.
Ein gesundes neues Jahr für dich.
Beste Grüße aus Deutschland
Danke! Happy new year to you too!✨
Thank you Benita as always for an inspiring video.💖🤩 Thanks to you I no more enjoy being in shops, to be honest all the consuming industry just give me stress and anxiety, I have now the mindset that less is more and I buy quality instead of quantity. And also second hand in first hand. I have found some great quality things at second hand stores😃
I’m so happy if my videos have been useful to you!
Hello Benita ✨ It was a good morning when I saw you had posted a new vlog ☺ All excellent tips - which I also follow after the holidays. I love organizing and purging items, but having done so for many years, there is less to deal with now. Which is good, but I do love the satisfaction that comes with organizing/purging. Wishing you a good week Benita.....from BC Canada 🐳
A good purge is a good day!😊
I always look forward to your post-holiday decluttering. Tip #5 is so helpful. Happy New Year, Benita. 🥰
So happy you think so and enjoy the videos!
What a lovely video to watch and calm me down. Im up to nearly 400 items decluttered in 5 yrs. Keeping count keeps me going. Hugs and love from the UK xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
So glad you liked it! And yay for you!
Oooo, I gifted myself the same Aesop gift box...I love this brand. I'm the same, my very minimal decor comes down on 27th December. As soon as Christmas is over, I'm ready to welcome in the New Year with an apartment re-set and a good declutter. This year I actually de-cluttered before the holidays which makes life super easy! Happy New Year from Hertfordshire, UK.
I helped Wille look after my grand dog Saga while Victoria was traveling in December and the Aesop box was such a nice thank you gift! I love their scents!
@ 💕
I declutter as I pull things out of Christmas storage for decorating and donate to a thrift store. Then it is available to others to buy and use in the season. Thrift stores are inundated with holiday items after Christmas which don't sell because the season has passed.
Happy New Year Benita (from Edinburgh where we now have 7.5 hours of daylight!)
I only had a paper snowflake (similar to your star) to fold and place in an envelope 😊
I do have a smaller string of stars hanging on my kitchen calendar but plan to leave it there over Winter ❤
Lucky you over there! ✨
thanks
Thanks so much for watching!
❤ Hej, dear Benita! Thank you for you content! Not only it is inspiring and uplifting, but also relaxing. I’m sometimes a bit upset when it comes to videos on the topic of decluttering and organising and the creator tries to motivate you by speaking too fast too loud with too much emphasis: in fact, it’s counterproductive since it becomes overwhelming for some viewers (e.g.: me!). You cool voice, your calm music backgrounds and your beautiful and relaxing interiors all contribute to make your content enjoyable, inspiring, relaxing and comforting, although never boring. Talk about lagom, eh?
Thank you and happy new year! Hugs from Italy,
Chiara

Thanks so much for watching all this time!😘
I can relate to your comment about content creators starting any decorations much earlier! As a fellow content creator (culinary industry) I've already done Valentine's day and St, Patricks day :)
That’s definitely the downside to this job!
I also live by the one in, one out method. Works a treat to ensure our stuff doesn't get out of control.
Lovely video as always Benita ❤ Happy New Year 🎉😊
Such a good and quite easy method, isn’t it! Happy new year!
Hello Benita, how nice to see you, as my mother used to say Christmas, Christmas and after Christmas. I am waiting for new films this year and I wish you and your family All the best in 2025😘🌷🌹

So happy the video was useful to you!
This was the first Christmas that I've put away my regular decor when it was time to decorate for the holidays, The whole effect was much more minimalist and relaxing. Cleaning was easier, it was easier on my eyes etc. I'm not ready to put the holiday stuff away yet but I know already I will be decluttering as I go.
Having both up can be a lot so I totally understand that you had a cleaner look and feel this year!

Great video! New subscriber here and a small channel. I love your tips! I just put away all of our holiday items yesterday and was able to downsize an entire box of items I didn't use this year or last year. It feels so good to only keep the items that I truly cherish (and that aren't broken). I can't wait to watch more of your videos! Thank you Benita! I'm sending you loving vibes to you.
Thank you so much! And way to go!

Great tips! I would love to see a video about how you declutter your summer home later this year.
That might not happen this year until we know what we’ll have use for in the house. We’ve hardly started on the interior and there are quite a few spaces to work on.
Your video gave me a little bit of calm after hard day. Thank You!
I’m so happy if it helped!

If I wasn’t married this would be my dream space. Unfortunately my husband loves lots of Collectibles, displayed nicely but hates to throw anything out. I’m always donating and he started a little decluttering this year.
I was married to someone who also loves his stuff so I totally get that!

Happy new year to you too!✨

Thanks so much for watching!
This year I made the ornaments from the toilet paper rolls like you did last year. I ran some warm white fairy lights around a floating shelf with plants and hung the ornaments from the shelf. It was simple but brought a festive element to my space. After the new year I just relocated the lights and put the homemade ornaments in the compost bucket. Nothing to store. No fuss no muss.
I also did a 25 item declutter challenge before New Years which became a 52 item declutter. Even as a minimalist I was able to get rid of a lot.
I love that you made the ornaments and now recycle them!
Great inspiration for a calm and fresh start for the New Year!!! 😊
I'm so glad you found it inspiring!
I love your videos Benita, I always try to put in practice your tips so everything looks peaceful and cozy in my house as it is in yours. I send you a hug from Chile 🫶🏻
I’m so happy if you feel inspired by watching!
My decorations go up the day after Thanksgiving and come down on New Year's day. I also like to declutter holiday decorations when I put them up, so I can send the unwanted items to the secondhand store, and they can be used by someone else for the current season. This was a lovely video, thanks for the inspiration!
So glad you enjoyed it!
It's so lovely to declutter and tidy after packing Christmas away. We did our usual but then added a big wardrobe declutter too, so much out of the house. Happy new year Benita.
I love the sound of a big wardrobe declutter!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I hadn’t heard them like that in a sentence but it’s so true!
I love your Home and your Style. It looks so minimalistic and organised, but good to know that you also have a lot of stuff in your cabinets
I’m not an extreme minimalist by any means. I need cleaning tools and back up toiletries like everyone else😅
Enjoyed this video. It’s January 7th here in sunny Florida. My Christmas decor always comes down on this day. I don’t decorate until after the first Sunday of Advent. I am in the midst of a massive New Year’s declutter. I find it very gratifying. Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year.
Enjoy your declutter! Happy new year!

Hallo! Very happy if you’re motivated after watching!
I’m starting in my office/craft room this year and can’t quite believe just how much extra stuff was in there! I’m trying to ask myself “Can I live without it” instead of “Do I need it.” I can always find a reason to keep something (unfortunately) 😂
Craft supplies are hard if you’re a creative but you’re on the right path!
Always so inspiring! 🌹
Thank you so much!
hope this year i will be able to declutter some Christmas decor 💪🏼
You can do it!💪🏻
Enjoyed your latest video with inspirational tips for decluttering. I already put away my Christmas decorations and I barely was able to fit everything into my Xmas box, as I've bought a few new decorations. I'll have to go through it and declutter! Happy New Year! ❤

So, many thanks! All the best.
Happy new year! So glad if my videos are useful!
Love your videos-always so inspiring. I’ve really adopted “don’t put it down. Put it away”, and this has REALLY eliminated the mess. It ‘s funny when I catch myself dropping something on a surface “just for a minute”… I just force myself to stop and do it right. Things are really so much easier now- no more piles of things to do later.
Happy new year.🩷
Edit.. one way I got rid of the sock mess (no mate, colors ugh).. I tossed them all. Bought all matching socks. Now they all match, so no making pairs- they all go together.
So happy you enjoy them! Both those are great tips!
