Joe Gannon was my first crush at age 9. My second crush was Johnny Gage. Must have something to do with my Dad being a doctor too. It's so sad that I'm starting to lose my TV and Music idols. First Davy Jones and now Chad.
"Jennifer Warnell" "Tim Daly favors his dad." Papa -- as we're blessed to see on "Medical Center", vocally displaying his strong, deep voice -- has a big nose, prematurely gray hair (what there is of it) and stands 5'10". Son Tim has a straight, near perfect nose, his dark-brown hair eventually transitioned to salt-and-pepper, but hardly all white with the requirements (as an actor -- where youthful looks are everything) of an (obvious) hairpiece and stands a commanding 6'1". In summation: "I don't see it, i.e., resemblance." . . . Should we be so fortunate that Tyne or Tim see this link to their father's respected and lovingly-recalled series with Chad Everett: "PLEASE, what was going on with your dad, M-G-M Television, CBS, the executive producers, his agents / managers or whomever that caused him to miss so many episodes early in the fifth season with Andrew Duggan filling in as chief of staff for some of them? He WAS missed. Clearly, answers to a question like that TODAY, about a top series' co-star being absent, today would flood the internet. Alas, NO answers on thorough searches re the matter.
+ridgerunner721601 No, "Medical Center" hadn't begun on CBS until September 1969, and "Barney Fife" (as portrayed by Don Knotts) departed "Mayberry" when Knotts left his role in "The Andy Griffith Show" after the fifth season of the series, the last first-run episode of that season with Knotts ("Opie Flunks Arithmetic") having aired April 19, 1965 @9:30 p.m. E.S.T., over three years before the debut of "Medical Center." And although both "Ben Casey" and "Dr.Kildare" were popular medical dramas that aired on television in that TV season "Barney Fife" and "Thelma Lou" (in "The Andy Griffith Show") watched "that doctor show" while eating a pan of fudge (to which "Fife" referred in the "Barney and Thelma Lou, Phfftt" episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" that aired on CBS May 4, 1964), neither "Casey" nor Kildare" aired on Tuesdays, the evening "Barney" said in that episode he and his gal pal watched TV whilst eating pan of said fudge. In fact, perusing the broadcast TV network schedule for 1964-65, no medical dramas aired at all Tuesday evenings. "Ben Casey" aired Mondays on ABC, while "Kildare" aired on NBC Thursday evenings. So it is likely the writers (Bill Idelson & Sam Bobrick) of that episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" were just making a general reference to a hypothetical rather than a specific TV medical drama, since the genre itself was popular at the time, enough to also include two daytime soap operas ("The Doctors" and "General Hospital") also centered around characters involved with medical practices. Although, it is also possible ol' "Barn" and "Thel" had been watching a syndicated rerun of "Medic," a 1954-56 TV medical drama (created & written by onetime "Dragnet" and "Kildare" radio writer James Moser) which aired on NBC and starred Richard Boone (later "Palladin" of "Have Gun, Will Travel"), generally considered TV's first realistic medical drama.
I use to LOVE this show. Had a crush on Chad Everett. Yummy! I remember there was a scene where he was in a car accident and they didn't think he was going to make it. I cried like a baby. LMAO...
Could that be 'Trial by Terror' (2nd season) with guest stars George Chakiris and Frank Converse? It was indeed a fiery crash, but it was the good doctor's vision that was jeopardized -- from injuries to the head and eyes -- not his life. Reading the Comments, indeed most women would fantasize about changing places with recurring performer Corinne Camacho's Dr. Jeanne Bartlett, the shrink and Gannon's sometime love interest who assists with the emotional and practical challenges affecting a suddenly blinded adult.
I loved watching this show waay back then. I was just a kid but I still remember how handsome Chad Everett - why can't doctors today look as sexy as Dr. Gannon? :-)
I really wanted to meet Chad Everett and James Daily. I was down during my surgery I saw them running to the operating table they joined the surgery letting me know I will survive the surgery. Those doctors 🥼 don’t play around.
A little help: "Medical Center" year one episode 'The Adversaries'. In Act IV's climatic scene is guest star Christopher Stone and 'special guest star' Patricia Quinn in the operating room with Everett's Dr. Joe Gannon; followed by post-op, hallway walk-and-talk with Gannon and James Daly's Dr. Paul Lochner. Aiding the well written (Oscar Millard), well directed (Gerald Mayer) hour is composer Arthur Morton's score that wonderfully takes us through the conclusion (4:11 - 4:26, dominated by violins and flutes; ending with four beats on the base drum) then nicely blends into the brief score -- violins dominating -- for the 'above-the-line' [writer, producer, director] end credits (4:26 - 4:40). 'Thank Heavens' for Warner Archive's DVD, Season One set so we can hear all of the main and end titles' composer Lalo Schifrin's moving closing credits' theme (4:55 - 5:39) -- COMPLETE without the intrusive, annoying CBS's or TNT's announcer hustling viewers to stick around for other network / channel programming. Going back to first run I was always mesmerized by this theme AND so glad it wasn't a replay of the fast, flashy, electronic guitar and organ, 40-seconds, main title theme that seemed to jell, and be appropriate, with the lively pink, purple, orange graphics coming together along with equally colorful renditions of the two stars. Conversely, after the 'heaviness,' deep drama and sometimes joy encountered by viewers throughout the preceding hour's content this -- what we hear here while seeing a single image of the main building's exterior through conclusion -- was an appropriate, sensitive wrap-up -- unlike the fast-paced, psychedelic main title. As with most series the main and end title is the same, but with "Medical Center"'s dramatic, life-and-death content that would be inappropriate. This being a medical show, the persistent sound of the base drum throughout reminds me of the sound of a beating heart. And 'the whole enchilada' ended with the iconic, mighty, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's lion's image and roar. This title was jettisoned for an entirely new creation for the next, second season; while totally unlike year one's it was inspiring, respectful, strong, soothing. WTF ?!?! We suffer through the main title's theme bludgeoning us at the end of our highly dramatic viewing experiences for the next five years / seasons 3 - 7. It JUST DOESN'T JELL. I feel my investment in the first six years' worth of frustratingly, over-priced DVD sets from Warner Archive a good one. There are definitely more very good and good episodes than poor ones -- unlike the ratio for most episodic series. However, for the time being I hesitate splurging for Season 7 from having read all the negative comments re its failings and thinking it's akin to "Hawaii Five-O" going off the rails in its final season, 12th (1979 - 80), so years 1 - 11 are the "Five-O" total for this avid viewer's collection.
Wasn't that part of CBS' plan? All their leading male stars were similar... Chad Everett, Jack Lord, Guy Williams... all tall, dark haired blue-eyed fellows. Even good old Robert Reed (Mike Brady) had the look!
Funny I had to look this up, my middle name is Gannon after Dr Joe Gannon. I was born premature and was very bad off, my mother say the nurses kept saying they where going to call Dr Gannon in my case. :)
TCM did not recognize Chad Everett at the end of the year. Chad also starred in many movies as well as Medical Center. I loved the writing and this really looked like a hospital.
what happened to Mr. Everett? Also, was don rickles in one of these Medical Center shows? and could you provide me the link of the episode Rickles was in? also where are all the nurses in this show?

I just loved Medical Center. Now I ordered the DVD's Seasons 1-3.SEASON 1 AND 3 CAME,3 WAS PERFECT SO WAS 1 BUT WHEN SEASON 2 CAME LAST WEEK, IT WAS A REPEAT OF SEASON 1. TRIED TO CONTACT AMAZON AND THE PERSON I ORDERED FROM.SADLY I CANNOT GET THROUGH.NOW I HAVE 2 WITH DIFFERENT TITLES. I AM UPSET...I GUESS I WILL GO TO Fry's
One day, we neighborhood kids decided to have brick fight. I of course ended up getting conked on the noggin and got sent to the hospital. After my release, my mom (who was pretty pissed at me) told me to stay still and watch TV. What came on was the premiere episode of Medical Center. I watched it faithfully after that night. As an adult, I notice the similarity of the theme style to that of Hawaii Five-0...
sorry it'sjust a short clip, but I've trouble with the files (can't convert , cut and edit them). Hope you enjoyed it (dr gannon wearing scrubs....an old memory of our childhood :)
caught by tests to be the father of a child extramaritally -- died of lung cancer even though he was not a smoker. was devastated by not getting work after the show was canceled that he restored to drinking a 5th of vodka every day. Even though the common report is he drank 1 quart of vodka every day, which is 946ml. Where 4/5ths of a quart is 750ml. A 5th. It's more likely that he would buy 5ths of vodka as opposed to something sold in a quart. If anyone out here saw him in a liquor store all the time buying vodka, please feel free to chime in and let us know the quantity to dispel the Wiki rumor.
Season 1 episode 13. I checked by the guest star Christopher Stone list of all episodes en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Medical_Center_episodes#Season_1_.281969.E2.80.9370.29

E.S.T., over three years before the debut of "Medical Center."
And although both "Ben Casey" and "Dr.Kildare" were popular medical dramas that aired on television in that TV season "Barney Fife" and "Thelma Lou" (in "The Andy Griffith Show") watched "that doctor show" while eating a pan of fudge (to which "Fife" referred in the "Barney and Thelma Lou, Phfftt" episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" that aired on CBS May 4, 1964), neither "Casey" nor Kildare" aired on Tuesdays, the evening "Barney" said in that episode he and his gal pal watched TV whilst eating pan of said fudge. what happened to Mr. Everett? Also, was don rickles in one of these Medical Center shows? and could you provide me the link of the episode Rickles was in? also where are all the nurses in this show?
Same here 😢

Good posting
Medical dramas did not make a ccomeback until trapper john md.
Chad was the Captain Kirk of hospitals
Is Chad Everett playing two parts in this episode?
One day, we neighborhood kids decided to have brick fight. I of course ended up getting conked on the noggin and got sent to the hospital. After my release, my mom (who was pretty pissed at me) told me to stay still and watch TV. What came on was the premiere episode of Medical Center. I watched it faithfully after that night. As an adult, I notice the similarity of the theme style to that of Hawaii Five-0...
His wife Shelby played on the show in a few episodes...season 1.
good tv show
This is who I was named after.
My name is Chad.
sorry it'sjust a short clip, but I've trouble with the files (can't convert , cut and edit them).

My aunt was crazy about Chad Everett as "Joe Gannon". She ranted and raved about his looks. She said if ever there was a White man she'd marry, it would be him.
