Samina Ray Buffer, the man who posted this, plays The Creature and helped create a performing arts company that first produced this show. I don’t have to worry about it being taken down for copyright because someone who is a huge part of the show posted it.
something that I appreciate tho is how at first when the man who becomes the Creature is first singing in the gallows, he’s awfully convincing with his words. that is some consistency in the character which I feel like nods to how manipulative the Creature is and how well he pleads his innocence in the book. also the fact that Victor chooses a convicted man with no one who seems to hear how he tries to argue and hang him anyways. that’s honestly such a good reflection and incredibly poetic. the Creature was convicted from the start- a monster in everyone’s eyes but own
just saw Justine’s execution and love the reflection between the first man executed! they both speak their innocence in the crimes that they’re accused of. the difference is Justine is for sure innocent but whether the Creature is a monster is always up for debate and with the hanged man we can’t be sure whether or not he’s actually innocent of his crimes.
my only issues so far is how Henry isn’t as involved in victor’s first recovery and seems to only call out his mistakes and that the female creature that victor was creating was never alive and was never killed. also the big theme of isolation wasn’t very acknowledged. but this is definitely the most accurate adaption of the book that I’ve seen
@@jessicabraud3307 Yeah, there are a lot! It depends what you're looking for. If you want a lot of contextual links sandwiching the story, then Norton's is the one I recommend! If you don't then I think it would say wether or not it has the analysis included! If you're getting it from a website. I hoped this helped!
Lowest of Trash I personally read the original copy which I enjoyed quite a lot! There's also a good graphic novel that uses (almost all) of the original text that I enjoyed. It didn't add any new text, it just cut down on some really long texts (which I personally wish they hadn't, but I can understand why)
I know this comment is 3 months old but you should definitely play Victor if you want to! I'm part of a (hobbyist) theatre group and I've played males or male roles have been genderbent (I once played a female JD in our Heathers performance for example)
I believe that gender doesnt matter as long as you can play the part and sing the songs! Just look at Annapantsu singing Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame! 😄😄
this is so good! frankenstein is easily my favorite musical out there, and i just love the general aesthetic of all the actors. thank you for posting! :)
Me: * enters new obsession * Me: heh, not getting outta this one *kolkolkolkolkolkolkolkolkolkolkolkollolkolkolkolkolkolkol* No joke tho Like bruh i wish i could've been there to see it myself Idk why but opera, musicals, and just history stuff in general just butters my eggroll
My Ensemble is in the process of practicing to perform that very play next year in one of the first renditions in german. What I like about your version is the consistent Steampunk Style, the Choreography for the omnipresent Ensemble and the minimalistic but effective Stagedecoration and Lightshow, which shows that the creative Team had a clear vision for the Show. Moreover it is clear that the Singers perform their part in an individual Style which at least pulled me more into the Story.
1:02:05 DAAAAAAMN I knew Henry absolutely popped off with "YOUR FATE WOLL BE THE SAME AS HIS!" but I wasn't expecting Mr. Clerval, the man, the myth, the legend, to go *that* hard Big props to his actor. Biiiiig props.
Ahhh I love this so much! I've been really into Frankenstein lately and there's so little fandom- I wish I had a friend I could obsess with about this lol
All of the voices were amazing! And after checking the description I feel a little awkward saying this, but I will admit that as soon as I heard the soon-to-be-hangman’s voice with all those lovely vibrations and depth, I swooned. Just wow. I hope that’s taken as a compliment 😂
to my arizona folks!!! state48theatre is putting on frankenstein and it opens THIS MONTH come see it the music is wonderful and its very book accurate and the actors are really talented! tickets at state48theatre.com/tickets hope to see you there!
ya did Henry dirty but still the best stage adaptation I've seen! The music is great :D Needs more homoerotic subtext. I can't believe Victor actually apologized, some of us have been waiting 200 years for that, thank you
Not to diss the performances but sweet god there are some major sound issues - I can only hope the mic issues were less physically painful for the watching audience than they are in the recording.
am i the only one who likes how ear-shattering the audio is??? im hard of hearing and there are no subtitles/CCs so it's easier to hear than it would be if it was too quiet instead of """too loud"""
Call it a 3am fever dream but considering that these are fictional characters and that the audience is not for children if the Creature really hated being alive so much and since the Bride proved that they can be killed, why didn't he just kill himself? It's a genuine question. That being said I've never read the book. If anyone has a clue or a guess I'm very interested. Thx. Also, this is high key my new favorite thing!!!!!!!!
I like it! But I feel like Jeykell and Hyde: the Gothic Broadway Musical did it better. None of the useless steampunk goggles and all of the perfect drama. But hey! If you look up the J&H, beware that there are multiple versions. I make room that there might be multiple versions of this musical too... And I want to find the best version!
Me: :o the full musical?! I better watch this before it’s copyrighted!
Me after looking at who posted it: ... Oh
Hm?

finally a visual form of Frankenstein my English teacher would approve of
This needs far more fans! Frankenstien has been a huge special interest and I'm happy it's a musical
What version of the novel do you recommend reading? I want to read it, but there are so many versions now lol

Right?! XD
im sorry, and this isnt meant to offend anyone, but i genuinely couldnt watch this because of how many times the singing would peak the mic
junenarcissus Their voices were too powerful...
I think it's fine? I mean it's not completely unwatchable and it's still understandable.

I love this musical. It is such a dream of mine to play Victor but I know that's not possible since I'm a girl

Sora Star same but with elder Cunningham from the Book of Mormon

2018: not yet
2019: ok now
the convict/creature was my favorite if only because I could actually enjoy his lovely singing due his lower register causing less mic peaks

This...... This is bootiful
I auditioned for William at my local high school and got in and I was going to do this musical but got canceled on terms of covid-19
This version is a crime against a spectacular piece of music, I sentence it to death
for those coming after seeing the “amen” animatic, the song starts at 10:18
Damn I never noticed that Victor used Justine's corpse as the base for the creation of the bride
I’ve only heard 1 song from this musical and had no idea it even existed until like 20 minutes ago
How did they make the creature so tall 0-0
I'm glad I'm early in the hype
The animation brought me here
Why have i only heard about this musical now??? It's good
