During university, I used to work as venue staff at a small music hall in Austria. Lordi played there on Halloween night a couple of times, and I can tell you they are just the nicest people. Specifically Mr. Lordi is just such a kind person. You can definitely judge a band by how they treat venue staff, most act very entitled and getting a thanks is rare, but these guys are absolutely fun to work with! I remember standing backstage outside in the cold with some coworkers, and Mr. Lordi came down the stairs in full gear singing Pink Fluffy Unicorns cause he had overheard my friend humming it. Still one of the funniest experiences I've had working there.
I saw them in Transylvania recently near Halloween and I concur, he is such a warm and funny stage presence who doesn't take any of their theatrics seriously.
I love the fact the choir is the former band members. You see the former band members featured in their new video for their song Borderline. It’s a nice touch from the band to recognise former members.
I was lucky enough to meet them back at the start of 2018. I wore a very sleek dragon costume and got acknowledged by Lordi, Amen and Ox during their performance. I got the rare chance to meet them backstage after the show and Mr Lordi was so amazed with my costume. I felt so honored considering he makes his costumes from scratch. He even told me it was great to see one of their own kind around. Best experience ever!
The new Lordi box set contains seven albums in seven different genres, 70s, disco, metal, arena, industrial, etc. Believe Me from the disco album has a cool animated video and Borderline from the arena rock album has a more typical Lordi video.

I'm so glad Lordi finally had the chance to make a proper christmas song. It's clear they had fun with the idea, and while it's far from their best songs, I still like it quite a bit. And it was such a great surprise to see all the past members come together in the video, even if it was just in form of animation. I hope you get the chance to sit down and listen to the seven albums they released. Some of the stuff on there can easily be considered best the band has ever done.

Mika Jussila is mastering engineer for Nightwish too, he has mastered all their albums. He masters for many bands ( for example, Children of Bodom too). He has mastered over 3 600 albums so far.

Not able to join the premier to wish Merry Christmas, as in Finland 24th is full of events: Already visited a cemetary to remember the loved ones we have lost, lightning greave candles. There is nothing more beautiful and touhching than having white christmas and the sea of candles which lit up the entire cemetery.
Just finnshed the christmas sauna and now preparing the traditional Finnish dinner, with a lot of food. I hope we have been nice enought for Santa to visit today evening too.

The reason why it sounds like Lordi is simply the voice of the singer.. I was just klicking in the middle of your video without reading the title. I thought wow he sounds like the singer of Lordi. So i checked the title :). But then the style is not what they usually sound like... however.. they are finns... they do what they want :D Fun fact: After Lordi won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, Rovaniemi(Where real Santa Claus is from :D) renamed theire town square "sampo aukio" to Lordi-Square.

you know some say that Lordi aint as good as they started, but people need to respect the Monsterican Band because not only did they make a 7 album compilation during Covid, they also made a Christmas song too, much respect.

Ofcourse the one and so far only metal band to win the ESC is from Finland, and if Im not mistaken, they didnt just win, they absolutely crushed the opposition!
Yeah, I think at the time they won, they had said the record for most points scored by the winner. It's since been broken, but still killer that they did it.
@@TankTheTech Yes they scored new record for the most points (292p) at the time. It also was the first win for us Finns in 45 years. Also fun fact about the song is that Finland broke the record for the most people singing karaoke at the same time. When 80 000 people sing the song on Helsinki Market Square (26.5.2006)
@@TankTheTech Seems Mr Lordi (Tomi Putaansuu) have had some time over during last 2 years to do 7 albums .
Lordi was also the smelliest band in Eurovision history , they had those latex costume on in Greece hot weather , sweating like crazy and as Tomi said , there was no products that could clean up latex .
It was also their first time getting interviewed in their entire career

I kinda lost track of Lordi after they won the ESC - I got some albums with other songs. But I absolutely loved it that they won. They've been such a fun band to listen to.
Its great to hear something from em again.

Not sure if it is just me but animation wise it feels like a high quality mid 2000s Newgrounds animation and a propensity for subverting expectations, love it.

It might take few years before we shall know if this is going to be one of those season antithemes, which eventually turn as classics.
Saw Lordi few years ago on the same stage as KISS later that evening, and mr. Lordi played really well his overly exited fangirl play, could've almost said he somehow digs the band.
If you want to check some real banger from Lordi, check out They Only Come Out At Night, it features legendary Udo and there are even a few live videos on occasion.
Recordead is their official live album and I would heavily recommend it to anyone who has only listened to Lordi in studio. It's not often that a "theme" band can pull of such a spectacle of a live show, but they nailed it (also helps it's at the legendary Z7)
Mr. Lordi was (or still is) the president of Kiss fan club in Finland and if I remember correctly he has said Kiss was his main influence when he started making music.
This is cool, my first time hearing this song. These guys have been around a bit I like them they are really creative.
Lordi is awesome. Been a fan of theirs since my high school days many years ago. So many great songs. Heard this song a week or so ago and it's great. Also I want the new 7 album box set, but it's so expensive...

My personal favorite is "Monster Is My Name"
Lordi is a very fun band and they don't take themselves seriously but they also do what they do really well imo
so I hope you consider giving one of their other songs a go when you have the time. :)

To me, it sounds like something Lordi would make. They do occasionally have a ballad in their albums, best example would be "Your Tongue's Got The Cat" from their 2018 album "Sexorcism"

If you'd like to see the band perform in a video, you should check out "Borderline" which is not only one of their best song, but also one of their best music videos in my opinion.
I completely get what you're saying when you say "sounds like Lordi, but not". They Lyrics and comedic pacing is textbook lordi while the music is more standard Xmas tune.
That being said I still love it 100%, in all of their albums, they always throw in a bit of diversity and Lordiversity cranked that up to 11. SuperFlyTrap is a perfect love letter to Disco while still keeping the horror roots and got me listening to Abba and the Bee Gees again
I love the dark twist of things and I hope Lordi never unmask themselves (I think Kiss became boring after unmasked)

As no one mentioned it so far: Mika Jussila is not only the one who mastered this video. He is something of a living legend of mastering at Finnvox Studios, Helsinki.
For example, he made the final mastering of the Nightwish virtual concert, remastered the whole Sentenced Album Collection this year and also is involved in many if not all albums made by Lordi.
Check him out, if you can. I think, if he has the time, he would be a really interesting interview partner.

That's why my favorite Christmas song is "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" Dio Iommi version ;) but yeahhh i dig Lordi, plus this band has an amazing song called "Devil is a looser and he us my bitch" heh i had a macro with the chorus lyrics for when my pala in wow did exorcism spell...anyway such an underrated band, the video for blood red sandman is based on evil dead , you will love it. And they have a fun shocker vid called "hug you hardcore".....and about mr Lordi he shows up unmasked in central role of a Battle Beast video playing a corrupt politician. King for a day i thing is called or something

He has mastered pretty much everything Nighwish, Children of Bodom and so on and on. Not only finnish bands.

There was actually an US band called Psycho Synner (the band of the former 5FDP drummer) that released 9 full-length debut albums at the same time a couple of weeks before the Lordi release. I enjoyed Lordi's more though, felt more creative.

Shout out for my hometown band! Indeed not a good introduction to them, even the new albums might be confusing as they are a fictional over-the-years set done in multiple styles. One of them is straight up disco.

If you want to listen a fun metal christmas song, I suggest you "A very Polish Christmas" from Sabadu (which is a parody of Sabaton by Christopher Bowes the singer of Alestorm). As you like Sabaton, I think you will like it too

Lordi will be Sabaton´s pre-band (whatever you call it in English) on new Sabaton´s tour. Cant wait for the show. It is like you buy a ticket a get another awesome band for free.

Both of their albums are real blast, and the upcoming one with a new singer will probably be fire too. Their previous singer, Tommy Vext went solo and he is also putting some really amazing music. Another question, I heard you have quite wide spectrum of music you like, what about some other stuff? I encourage you to dive in your personal time into The Dead South, not metal, but all the metalheads I know, me included love them a lot.

You need to check out the best finnish band Lost Society! The singer Samy Elbanna was a member of the Local Band and a friend with Alexi Laiho. This song is like modern trash metal or whatever....
