Five years I was the keyboard We toured for five years together and add the honor of playing keyboard for him since back in 1980 of the greatest performance in the world and add honor to play for him and listen to him every night for 200 days of the year we were on the road playing this song now he's passed away God blessed so and I know is in heaven singing for God
Hi Dani, That raspy texture is a hallmark of Kenny’s style. He’s an American treasure on a level all of his own. Much like Karen Carpenter was. Artists like this transcend time and will continue to touch the souls of countless generations. Thanks for the great reaction!
Kenny Rogers one of the greatest voices ever in music love him miss him! What a legend so many hits if this song don't touch you and do something there is something wrong. Please do She Believes in Me!
I love Rogers' gravely voice and over here he gives his full heart, soul, and all the emotions he has inside. I heard this when I was a kid, but I didn't quite fathom the beauty of it until later.
40 yrs ago the reaction to this song was off the charts. Sold out records everywhere. This song caused alot of babies to be born and also made him a superstar!!!
Kenny along with the Bee Gees and John Denver was played often in my home thanks to my Mother. My Father was more of a traditional country music fan with Jim Reeves, Merle Haggard, and Marty Robbins.
Kenny Rogers is one of the all-time greats. He is my favorite country singer that crossed over to pop music. Lady was his most successful single. A very beautiful love song. It went to #1 on the pop charts for 6 weeks in 1980. Kenny Rogers was at his very best when singing love ballads. He also did very well with country story songs. Dani, he has a terrific, extensive catalog of great songs. I hope you will explore more of his music. I'm sure you will enjoy it. The list of his songs that I would strongly recommend are "Through The Years", "She Believes In Me", "You Decorated My Life", "Islands In The Stream (Duet with Dolly Parton)", "Coward Of The County" and his signature song which he starred in several movies, "The Gambler".
Kenny Rogers was actually the first to do it. It was written and produced by Lionel Richie in 1980, but the commodores turned the song down so he adjusted it slightly specifically for Kenny Rogers to perform. Lionel Richie never performed the song until he recorded it on his own album in 1998.
I grew up listening to Kenny as a kid and he was just…Kenny Rogers. It took becoming an adult and hearing this song to really understand how much talent this man really had..!! I wish I’d realized it sooner. RIP Kenny, they’ll never be another one!
One of my favorites by Kenny Rogers. Pure emotion and a wonderful love song! Another one is the duet with Sheena Easton " We've Got Tonight". His deep and her crystal clear high voice sound amazing!
Believe me young lady you are far from being the 1st female to tear up to this song and this man's incredible voice. Great review..this is about the the 20th review of this song and you match and react the same as every other one
Truly a Legend one of the greatest voiices of our time always loved his voice really a full package entertainerthe first time I heard his voice it was the gravely sound that drew me in He was a stand up guy very genuine Also a great business sense without a doubt he was loved by all.
Diana Ankudinova is a young performer who shocks us with her pleasant voice and takes us into the abyss of events!!! Diana Ankudinova is unique and inimitable, goosebumps from her voice!=)))) Diana sings as if she lives in the song! The soul freezes or opens with Diana's voice.=))))))) I am a musician who has been with music for years, and believe me, I have not heard such a tone in all these past years. 1000000%!!!😁🔥🔥🔥🎤🎤🎤🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶💖💖
The combination of such a low voice ( *contralto* ) with a beautiful timbre, performance technique and emotional presentation at such a young age is not common! I think that *Diana* *Ankudinova* is generally a unique case! I have never heard anything like it!
I appreciate your reaction Dani, His voice was a rough, fine, reliable thing that made every sound around it feel smooth. The grain of his timbre was genial and generous that way, and it gave his voice tremendous reach.
Great reaction. At the beginning of the song I could tell you were liking it, but the closer we got to the end of the song, the you could really see how moved you were by it. Raw emotion in the song and your reaction to it. Thank you. Keep reacting.
Every line of that song speaks directly to every females heart and that is credit to Lionel but Kenny makes you feel he means it and definitely has someone in mind as he sings it.
Kenny Rogers is amazing !!! First heard Kenny in the late 70's and i'm still listening today !!! You are a Lady Dani !!! Great reaction sweetheart !!! Cheers from Texas !!
Kenny Rodgers was one of my all time favorite singers and actors. Loved him on the Gambler. Very talented guy. He has passed on. But I still enjoy his songs and movies he started in.
Luv your reactions to music! May I suggest "Ruby don't take your love to town?" Its early Kenny Rogers and his band the First Editions... Thanks and keep cranking out the good voids...
Beautiful song. It was written by Lionel Richie and first recorded by Kenny Rogers when Lionel was still with the Commodores. The Commodores didn't want to record it, so Lionel sent it to Kenny to record.
The first bit of the song is when everyone realises they want to feel how he's singing. We realise we will never feel like that. Some people do, maybe there's hope
Hey Dani..... I've been away for a bit but what a treat to find you with Kenny today. I once watched an interview with Kenny and he told the interviewer that he didn't consider himself a good singer....he considered himself a good storyteller. Thanks for your reaction. I enjoyed it. Hoping you are well. Take care. Peace.
I used to think I was odd because I let music affect me so emotionally. Dani seeing how you react and there are other reactors who really feel the music, is actually reassuring. Keep doing what you are doing.
Love your reaction here! You obviously felt touched by this. Seen/heard other lady reactors say 'he says everything that any woman wants her man to say to her' - I'm guessing you'd agree? If you'd like another song to really touch you, try "I Believe" by Brooks & Dunn - powerful! Don't know if you've 'tried out' these artists, but almost *anything* from any of them is *excellent!* Pentatonix Diana Ankudinova Home Free And it doesn't hurt that their fans (respectively 'Pentaholics', 'The Dianni', and 'Home Fries') are so, well ... fanatical, that reacting to just a song or two will pump up subscriber numbers! Try it! (And they do *great* performance, even the teenager, Diana Anmudinova!)
This song is so amazing it's made me emot6si ce I first knew what music was..he sang this on stage with Lionel and it was unreal!! And you could not be any more precious...I only hope that my daughter ends up like you 😇
Hello! Thank you for the video! Please react to Rechenka's songs, Wicked Game🌞🌞🌞DIANA ANKUDINOVA is a talented young singer. I would like to know your opinion. I think you will be surprised. Diana has a very unusual voice and artistic presentation for her age.🌹🌹🌹 Thanks in advance!
If you haven't yet, maybe you can react to what I feel as seen as "lesser songs" but I personally think they are great. Such as "20 Years Ago", "Buried Treasure", "I Don't Need You", "This Love We Share", "This Woman", "I Prefer The Moonlight" & A great duet with Ronnie Milsap with "Make No Mistake, She's Mine".
I enjoy Kenny Rogers. One of the best singers from the 1970-80’s. We got tonight sung with Sheena Easton is one of his many duets. Please do a reaction to Another amazing artist from that era is Olivia Newton-John. It’s been 46 years since this song was released and it stands the test of time. Love to see your reaction to this Grammy winning song. ua-cam.com/video/sAJ8-W3jVs4/v-deo.html I Honestly Love You.
As you said, Dani, that gritty, gravelly voice really conveys a certain raw feelig not found in the classic "clear" voice. A few male singers have it, but it's rare for a female singer to use it to great effect--unless you hear Courtney Hadwin. When you are able to react to her 2018 AGT audition and more recent covers on Courtney Hadwin VEVO channel, you will hear plenty of grit and much, much more!🙏
I think you heard Kenny sing this in the past, Lionel did not record this song. Kenny asked Lionel to write a song for one of his "hits" records and Lionel said he had a song that his group at that time, which was the Commodore's, did not want so he finished writing it with Kenny and then Kenny was the one that recorded it and made it a hit. I guess Lionel could have sang it later in concerts or whatever but he never put out a recorded version of the song. Oh by the way, there is a video of a tribute to Lionel and him and Kenny sing this together, you should react to that, its great.
Dani, when you have time, watch the video of kenny and lionel doing lady together. Great version, and the affection they have for each other is beautiful to see.
Gravelly is right. Want more gravelly? Kim Carnes: "Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer" (duet with Kenny Rogers), "More Love," "Bette Davis Eyes." Bonnie Tyler: "It's A Heartache."
That's awesome, thank you for sharing such a great memory of one other greats
True Legend of Country Music
Kenny Rogers uses that gravelly voice in all his songs , That's one of the reasons that makes him unique.
Yeah like in Ruby.
If there was ever a song that truly "fit" an artist, this one with Kenny was one.... Always loved this one, especially with him.
It’s so incredible!
This song defines for me, devoted romance... ideal love from a man to his lady.... one of the best written, and performed, love songs ever.
Hi Dani, That raspy texture is a hallmark of Kenny’s style. He’s an American treasure on a level all of his own. Much like Karen Carpenter was. Artists like this transcend time and will continue to touch the souls of countless generations. Thanks for the great reaction!

Yes please. Dont get many reaction to that song or music man. Good suggestion🤘
I'll toss my request in for Through the Years. Another heart spear.
His grit and gravel or fry as some might say at such a low octave is stunning. Kenny was just Amazing! Great reaction
I love Rogers' gravely voice and over here he gives his full heart, soul, and all the emotions he has inside. I heard this when I was a kid, but I didn't quite fathom the beauty of it until later.
40 yrs ago the reaction to this song was off the charts.

indeed, that grovely voice shows the raw emotion in this song
Such a beautiful song sung by a talented man, R. I. P. Mr. Rogers.
I appreciate your reaction Dani, His voice was a rough, fine, reliable thing that made every sound around it feel smooth. The grain of his timbre was genial and generous that way, and it gave his voice tremendous reach.
Grew up with Kenny, I was lucky enough to see him perform this song.
The gambler kenny rogers paved the way for so many country artist and others as well. Nice song.
Great reaction. At the beginning of the song I could tell you were liking it, but the closer we got to the end of the song, the you could really see how moved you were by it. Raw emotion in the song and your reaction to it. Thank you. Keep reacting.
It was horrible. To much talking
This impact only the great artists have on us.
What a BEAUTIFUL and HEARTFELT SONG and reaction to it. AWESOME

Great reaction beautiful lady
Kenny Rogers is amazing !!! First heard Kenny in the late 70's and i'm still listening today !!! You are a Lady Dani !!! Great reaction sweetheart !!! Cheers from Texas !!
Just beautiful! The fact is...: Lionel Ritchie wrote that song especially for Kenny Rogers.
Kenny Rodgers was one of my all time favorite singers and actors. Loved him on the Gambler. Very talented guy. He has passed on. But I still enjoy his songs and movies he started in.
Hand in hand is his "Through the Years". Another gut punch for those in a long term relationship.
Good observations and insights about Kenny, Dani, to this very beautiful melody, thank you.
Well, perfection is close by. Thank you Kenny for you have left us brick and mortar that will last for all time !
Kenny Rogers was the front man for a rock band called The First Edition, before he switched to country. A hit song was "Something's Burning."
Beautiful HUGE #1 record for Kenny. Written by the incredible Lionel Richie. Love it!♥️🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦
Luv your reactions to music! May I suggest "Ruby don't take your love to town?" Its early Kenny Rogers and his band the First Editions... Thanks and keep cranking out the good voids...
What a great analysis and reaction!
Thank you!!!
Pausing the song this many times for small comments kills the soul of the song and squashes all the feelings this song envokes
Thanks Dani, Kenny was a great entertainer. I saw him about 5 times over 30 years and he never lost his style and ability to tell the story.
Beautiful song. It was written by Lionel Richie and first recorded by Kenny Rogers when Lionel was still with the Commodores. The Commodores didn't want to record it, so Lionel sent it to Kenny to record.
Kenny, pure class. Love from London UK x
The first bit of the song is when everyone realises they want to feel how he's singing. We realise we will never feel like that. Some people do, maybe there's hope
My favorite song of that year I think1980
I love your passion for Great music 👍👍👍❤
Hey Dani..... I've been away for a bit but what a treat to find you with Kenny today. Dani, lionel Richi did write a song Lady, but he did that with the Commodores. Totally different song.
It's actually Kenny's song. It was wrote by Lionel for Kenny
Another Kenny Roger's song is love to see you react to its Coward of the Country
Every woman wants to hear this
