I spoke on the phone with Barry back in March of this year about a friend of mine that was dying. He's a very genuine guy that never let any of his fame and success go to his head.
I grew up in Redcliffe a suburb of Brisbane Australia and went to school with Barry , the twins and Andy were younger of course and their musical ability even at that early age was extraordinary.
This was an awesome tour. I saw them August 12th 1989 in The Great Woods in Massachusetts. They were so great. I had the honor of seeing them in Las Vegas in 1997 where I met Barry and Maurice. My mom passed three months before I saw them in MA...them being my favorite group of all time; this was therapy to me. Andy passed March 10th 1988, this was summer of 1989
Dani, I am so glad you did a reaction video to "How Deep Is Your Love". It's one of the Bee Gees best songs. In fact, I remember Barry Gibb saying in an interview that "How Deep Is Your Love" is his favorite Bee Gees song that he wrote. It went to number one on the pop charts and stayed there for 4 weeks in 1977. It was the main love song from the blockbuster movie, Saturday Night Fever. You're right about the time-frame. This concert took place in 1989. Andy Gibb died in 1988. Since it was just a year later, the pain of losing Andy must have still been really fresh and you could tell in their emotional performance. If you want to get to know some of Andy Gibb's songs, I would recommend you start with "I Just Want To Be Your Everything". It went to number one on the pop charts and was the song that launched his career. I also recommend you do more reaction videos to Bee Gees songs. They are one of the greatest musical groups of all-time. Love your channel.
Dani, Andy Gibb Passed away March 10, 1988 5 days after his 30th Birthday. One other thing that makes this sad was that Andy was set to join the Bee Gees in his come back. Thank you for reacting to this Song.
He really wasn’t.... He began writing for his solo album. They always talked about it, but he never felt right joining them. He was in England writing for his solo album right before he died, staying at Robin’s guest house.
This was the Bee Gees first #1 song from 1971. It took them several years to get to their first #1 as they had many hit songs from the 1960's. Little did they know, they would score even more #1 hits several years later
We didn't have videos when I was young and I'd fall in love with the way it was recorded and I love that these guys sound exactly like they do on their records. They wrote the song WISH YOU WERE HERE for Andy and they had such a hard time recording it because they were so emotional that they wouldn't sing it in public. For Whom The Bell Tolls is on the album One in memory of Andy. That was the album Andy was supposed to make with them because he was ready to join his brothers as a Bee Gee. Andy had an album to finish first and so did the brothers. Sadly he died the same year. 1988 at age 30. The whole world cried.
3:49 A genuine emotional reaction to this song. The fact that so many young women react emotionally to this song (some even burst into tears) shows how starved they are for *real* love and caring. Here's a suggestion: turn off Tinder, get off of Facebook, stop listening to Cardi B and the other rappers, and go find people who love this kind of music. It'll open up a whole new world.
Dani, just loving your Bee Gees reactions! I would really love you to react to Robin's signature song "I Started a Joke". This song was so special to him that he wanted it played at his funeral. Please, please use the same 1989 Melbourne concert to react to this beautiful song. You won't be disappointed with this choice. When he sang this song live he always gave it his all but, in my opinion, this was his most wonderful performance. I think that the audience agreed because he received a standing ovation lasting almost one minute!
Thank you for recognizing how talented the Bee Gees are! Did you know that they also wrote all of their songs? By the way, Andy died in 1988. Love them always! ❤
Dani, it IS a popular love song, even today. Still in the top list of first songs for wedding receptions, as well. The Brothers Gibb made it ok to get emotional, either male of female.
Great reaction Dani !!! The Bee Gees is one band that i have overlooked a bit over the past 25 years, but they are back on my playlist !!! They are amazing !! Yeah, this song defintely brings back memories !!
They also have a recording of this where Andy is featured singing this song with them on a large screen in back of the group. It is beautiful. You can see how much he sounds like Berry.
I remember watching this concert. They did a song titled "Our Love don't throw it all away" which Barry wrote for his younger brother Andy. Andy sounded so much like Barry on the song. When they played the song in concert they had Andy in the background singing the song. It was a fitting tribute to Andy. He was only 30 years old when he died. So young and yet so many good songs. RIP
Dina, I have followed you for a short time. The truth is, you are wonderful in choosing the song. I consider it the best emotional song that has appeared so far. I adore BeeGees
Dani, one of the first filmed appearances of the Bee Gees can still be found on UA-cam, when Barry was a young teenager, and the twins were little boys. Bee Gees was formed before Andy was born so he never became a member. In the sixties they were already very successful with Robin doing the lead vocals most often. By the way, the Gibbs were Manx (as in from the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea), moved to Manchester and then to Australia where they started their musical career. The song was not written in honour of Andy, but the performance was.
I still to this day cry when I hear it. For me it reminds me of my Mother, full on Disco Queen in the 1970's, her and my step father all decked to the 9's before they went out to the Disco Club. Many good times, wine flowing and dancing in the living room with her, those were special times indeed. Over the years, the song takes on different meanings to me, but the romantic deep commitment to love and passion is where I go every time. Thanks for making me cry to this song...again!
The Bee Gees were the Kings of Disco. The Bee Gees owned the last half of the 70's with 6 #1 tunes in a row. This tune was the first of the 6 #1's in a row.
I love this song. Saturday Night Fever came out when I was in college and even at the "liveliest" dorm parties, this song was a must-play at every party so we could all slow dance with our hunnies. One of the all-time great slow dance songs.
Although this song was dedicated to their brother and it was wonderful for them to do so; it was written ten years before or more. they did write a song particular for him on their one album released the same year as this tour (1989) and a year after Andy's death (in 1988) . Thank you for reviewing them.
Another young lady, with a different channel stated "How do you write something that beautiful" ? God gives a man the ability to love someone, more than he loves himself. When the right person comes along, sometimes a man's soul will overflow with words of expression, that he never knew were in him.. That's why it's important for you young ladies to be kind, and gentle and to listen with your hearts. It may not come around again. The Bee Gees had the unique and special ability to put that into words and melody.
Bee Gees, How Deep is Your Love: and that performance was Live... moving between voices and timbres with no hitches, maintaining all the subtleties and expression. The amount of frigging concentration and talent is mind-blowing.
Speaking of Andy Gibb, I got to see him in concert in, as I remember 1977 or 78, when he went on tour with Neil Sedaka. Andy had just had his first hit and was the opener for Neil Sedaka. Very nice concert .... Neil was great and played all his big hits. Andy and his beautiful voice, had the girls screaming when he sang.
Andy had only died about a year before this concert. He was only 30 years old. Barry has been quoted as planning to incorporate Andy with the band if Andy had lived. Andy would be 64 years old on March 5th 2022 had he survived.
Andy Gibb had his first 3 singles to all hit #1. "I Just Wanna be your Everything", "Love Is Thicker Then Water" and "Shadow Dancing". React to the first one but all 3 are great.
''Wish you were here'' is the song they wrote for Andy two weeks after he passed - beautiful song.....this classic right here '' How deep is your love ''was written and performed about five - six years before Andy passed and was number one on the US BILLBOARD for several weeks - a true BEE GEES classic right here.
It is just so amazing that each of them, Barry, Maurice and Robin has his own totally unique voice and yet their voices harmonise and blend so wonderfully together!! The music charts just do not have such timeless hits anymore...
Nice reaction, as always, Dani. I love your passion. If you'd enjoy hearing more chest vocals from the Bee Gee's, I'd recommend Lonely Days and Nights on Broadway. Great tunes that were pre Saturday Night Fever. How Can You Mend a broken Heart was a good one too....but then....they're all good!! :)
Barry has had arthritis for years. He said in an in an interview that sometimes when his arthritis acts up when he is on stage,he will have to stop playing in the middle of a song, because of the pain in his hands.
@@BronzeRemnant4 I am so sorry about your double loss and both so tragic. Sometimes it takes a great song to say what we feel and cannot express out loud ourselves. Barry Gibb the last brother standing and the oldest. They were the BeeGees a great band a family band . But Barry was the genius and leader. Well done.
It’s so sad that all but Barry, the oldest and main singer of the brothers, have passed on. There is a very touching interview with him where he addresses being the last of his family. It hits him quite hard and it definitely got me teary eyed. Very touching. They were so unique and so talented. Rest In Peace Andy, Robin and Maurice. You should watch You Should Be Dancing by the Bee Gees live performance in 1979. All 4 brothers were there. Sadly, Barry Gibb is the only one still alive.
Truly one of the most talented artists, songwriters, singers, and musicians ever. I’m so glad you take the time to listen to great older music. Andy was much younger than his 3 older brothers. The 3 older brothers began performing at a very young age together and was world famous by the time Andy was old enough to start singing and playing instruments. All of their music is great, as it has lasted 60 years plus, starting in 1958. They were so much more than just “Disco”. Barry is the oldest and tallest of the brothers. Robin and Maurice were twins. Barry and Andy resembled each other greatly, for the exception of their height. Andy was much shorter. Barry is the only surviving brother now, and he is still performing although extremely hard he says. Maurice passed in 2003, Robin in 2009. It was said the whole family was extremely musically talented and could pick up any instrument and play it without any lessons. Their songwriting skills, especially Barry’s, will forever be legendary. Their parents were also very talented; father Hugh musician and band leader, and their mother Barbara a talented singer. Some great songs of theirs to listen; To Love Somebody, Lonely Days, Fanny, Loves So Right, Words, I’ve Gotta Get a Message, Nights On Broadway, Jive Talkin’, Alone, One, I’m Satisfied, Living Eyes, Paradise, Don’t Fall in love With Me, Children of the World, Love Me, and Boogie Child. Another musician/songwriter/singer that is legendary is Neil Diamond , incredible voice, incredible lyrics , incredible performances. Especially throughout the 70’s. My favorite album is Hot August Night live recorded at the Greek Theatre number 1, not to be confused with #2. Unfortunately they did not video record it, only audio. Some great ones ; Holly Holy, Brother Love Traveling Salvation Show, Soolaimon, I Am I Said, Sweet Caroline, Cherry Cherry, Solitary Man, Play Me, Shilo, Canta Libre, and Desiree. Neil Diamond is still alive but suffers from Parkinson’s. Another one with almost 60 years of entertainment. John Denver is another legendary singer, songwriter; try The Eagle and the Hawk, Poems-prayers and promises, Annie’s Song, Rhymes and Reasons, and Calypso come to mind right off. So many great artist, voices. Many so underrated. Singer Meatloaf is another very unique incredible singer; I’d Do Anything for Love, Two out of Three Ain’t Bad, For Crying Out Loud, Not a Dry Eye in the House, Nothing at All, and I’d Lie to You (and that’s the truth). Meatloaf has been in entertainment for over 50 years. All very different, but with very unique sounds and talents. So before I go, let me list a couple more very unique singers you may not be familiar with : So let’s go with Barry White first; You’re My First My Last My Everything, Can’t Get Enough of Your Love Babe. - Lou Rawls: Lady Love, You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine - Aaron Neville: Bird on a Wire, Everybody Plays the Fool, Don’t Know Much, Don’t Take Away my Heaven - Lionel Richie: Sail On, Still, Three Times a Lady, Stuck on You, and Lady. Ok that’s enough to keep you searching. Thanks for your videos. Looking forward to viewing more.
Barry carries on their legacy. His niece and nephew are talented as well. I love watching Sami, Maurice's daughter, sing. She looks a lot like her father
The brothers dedicated a song How can you mend a broken heart. They were perfection , Barry is still singing. Also listen to I don’t want to b alone, all their songs are perfection . Thank you for listening xx
Please give Andy Gibb a try. All brothers always did background vocals for each other. So Andy did it for them, and they did it for Andy's music. You definitely not mistake them being related. This song is from the Saturday Night Live soundtrack, which they had numerous hits from. There is a live performance of Destiny's Child with Celine Dion performing their remake of the Bee Gee's "Emotions ". It was also like a tribute. Barry is looking on with pride and approval. I believe all his brothers had passed away by then. So sad how such a big tight knit talented family went from many to just one. Must be like an empty feeling that never gets filled until you see them again.
Definitely touching, hard to understand what it must be like for three older brothers to lose their youngest brother. at such a young age. Good reaction choice, Dani, thank you.
In later concerts, they started using Andy's song "Don't Throw It All Away" as their tribute song. Andy looked like Barry, and sounded like him (both regular range and falsetto). In this performance, in Vegas, 1997, Barry sings the first verse, and then they use video and audio of Andy performing and sing backup along with it. ua-cam.com/video/-XKPU1MHASU/v-deo.html
This song dates from 1977, written long before Andy died, for the film Saturday Night Fever that we dedicated to him afterwards ok .. it's cool that finally young people are interested in my singer that I have followed for 5 decades (although there is more than Barry Gibb today who still lives in London because I stay in contact with him forever). and that I know by heart their career and their life ect ... and if you need information ask me ok cool ... because I also knew well Andy Gibb (who left us on March 10, 1988 in Oxford) left drugs and drink for hanging out with the wrong person, yet he all had for him a top handsome voice and the two most beautiful woman of the time who loved him (Olivia Newton john and Victoria Principal) ... and he had to also integrated the group with his 3 brothers but too tad its sad ....
Andy passed in 1988 at 30 years old. By 1989 Barry's arthritis in his hands was pretty severe, though he does still play the guitar. You'll notice the band on his left wrist. This group is more remarkable than most people realize.
Hey Little Sister! The BeeGees are just Godsent are they not!? I loved your knowledge of the falsetto and the other brothers so effortlessly coincide with it.. touches my heart and I'd love to see you react to more of their music...
He died in 1988 so this is only one year after that. This song is from the 1977 movie Saturday Night fever. Infact they wrote a song calle "Whish You Were Here" dedicated to their brother which is on their album One from 1989. They never performed this live as it was to emotional for them. Try to react to that one, it is very beatiful song. Robin rerecorded this song on his album magnet from 2003 2 years after Maurice died and unfortunately Barry did not take that very well as he meant this was a sacred song to them. They ended up never to band up together again after Maurice was gone. They had a few live performances but else they did not record anything together. When Robin died in 2012 Barry sat at his bed side singing a song he wrote for Robin called "End of The Rainbow", also a very beatiful song. It is on his album In The Now from 2016.
@@DaniAtkinson Blessing when it comes to music, curse when you try to explain to people why you cry so easily lol..I feel you..I have sooooo many songs that i would love you to react to :-) have a fab day, Andrew x
You really need to watch their tribute to Andy . They did a one night only performance of Our love don’t throw it all away, which will bring you to tears!! It features Barry singing in the beginning and then goes to Andy; I watch it over and over because it’s so moving
Wish You Were Here was written for Andy. It was so deeply painful to sign that on stage, they chose instead to dedicate this song to him instead. They could sing it in memory of their beloved little brother without being hit so hard with the pain of their brother's death.
It was dedicated to Andy Gibb here but actually came out ten years earlier, on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. I did have a personal connection to it, because of the chord sequence, it opened my view of the world a lot and influenced me like many Bee Gees songs as a composer. I remember when it came out and though it was a hit, I recall it wasn’t nearly as big a hit as I thought it should’ve been.
Not only did Andy die the previous year, 1988 (which you've probably figured out by now), but Andy performed this song a number of times, sometimes with his brothers on stage with him. So, I think there's a number of reasons they dedicated this performance to Andy.
I spoke on the phone with Barry back in March of this year about a friend of mine that was dying. He's a very genuine guy that never let any of his fame and success go to his head.

So before I go, let me list a couple more very unique singers you may not be familiar with :
So let’s go with Barry White first; You’re My First My Last My Everything, Can’t Get Enough of Your Love Babe.
- Lou Rawls: Lady Love, You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine
- Aaron Neville: Bird on a Wire, Everybody Plays the Fool, Don’t Know Much, Don’t Take Away my Heaven
- Lionel Richie: Sail On, Still, Three Times a Lady, Stuck on You, and Lady.
Ok that’s enough to keep you searching. Thanks for your videos. Looking forward to viewing more.
Probably one of my favorite songs of all time.
This is probably the best reaction I have ever seen to A Bee Gees video... thank you
One of my faves.
Barry carries on their legacy. His niece and nephew are talented as well. I love watching Sami, Maurice's daughter, sing. She looks a lot like her father
Beautiful song to start my day off with, Dani. Thank you so much for your reaction. Take care and be well. Peace.
The brothers dedicated a song How can you mend a broken heart. They were perfection , Barry is still singing. Also listen to I don’t want to b alone, all their songs are perfection . Thank you for listening xx
Barry Gibb is the only brother alive, the twins passed away a few years ago.
Andy died in March of 1988, so basically, over one year (18 months?) from this performance in November 1989 concert in Melbourne.
Andy was 30 years old when he passed away. He was also a tremendous talented singer and you should check out his songs because he had hit after hit.
Dedicated to Andy. I almost started out in tears. Too much tragedy for these boys.
They also had another brother Andy that sang the same way. They have all passed away except the lead singer Barry
Hi Dani really in joying your reactions and I also like your song Disguise and loved your cover of foolish games . Cheers Troy
Barry using his natural deeper tone. Would have loved more songs at this level.
Definitely touching, hard to understand what it must be like for three older brothers to lose their youngest brother. at such a young age. Good reaction choice, Dani, thank you.
Very good!! React For whom the bell tolls live Bee Gees...

Just to CLUE YOU IN Andy DIDN'T die of heart failure - he died of heart failure due to years of ABUSING DRUGS AND ALCOHOL which is a REAL tragedy !!
I think you have realized the number of visualizations that Bee Gees have. This lead you to think the Big number of fans they have
The best band ever..Melbourne 89 was the best tour ever..thank you for the reaction..
Just to add to what Stephen said below: The song "How Deep is Your Love" went on to sell over 4 million copies. A Platinum record smash!
Andy passed in 1988 at 30 years old. By 1989 Barry's arthritis in his hands was pretty severe, though he does still play the guitar. You'll notice the band on his left wrist. This group is more remarkable than most people realize.
That song was (and still is) the song that makes me want to fall in love.... Thanks for this video!
The perfect song to cuddle up with the one you love.
The brother that died that was also a singer Andy Gibb sang great songs too like Shadow Dancing which was a huge hit back then.
Check out the ,Acapella" How deep is your Love"1998, 1:45 ,on TV show it's, it's only for a few seconds but it sounds so Beautiful.😊👍😎❤️
Hey Little Sister! The BeeGees are just Godsent are they not!? I loved your knowledge of the falsetto and the other brothers so effortlessly coincide with it.. touches my heart and I'd love to see you react to more of their music...
There song “ Tragedy “ is one of there top recording’s you might like.
play a song called Fanny be tender original version awesome harmony they were from the 1970s it was more innocent kinder time
He died in 1988 so this is only one year after that.
It is on his album In The Now from 2016.
linda musica dos Bee Gees aqui no Brasil anos 70 fez muito sucesso principalmente nas cidades do Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo
You MUST be an empath!! Your face says it all when you react, I LOVE it!
I AM!!! Its a blessing and a curse!! :)
@@DaniAtkinson Blessing when it comes to music, curse when you try to explain to people why you cry so easily lol..I feel you..I have sooooo many songs that i would love you to react to :-) have a fab day, Andrew x
Hi Dani it is a beautifully written song, i also must say you look like a young Celine Dion
turn the clock back to 1960 and start listening to what we gave the world
Nice reaction Dani
You should check out Bee Gees older songs like 'First of May'
and 'To love somebody'
You really need to watch their tribute to Andy . They did a one night only performance of Our love don’t throw it all away, which will bring you to tears!! It features Barry singing in the beginning and then goes to Andy; I watch it over and over because it’s so moving
As a kid I always thought that they sang: "And you came to me on a submarine"🤭
Great band,song -and reaction.♥️👍
Remember caring for a girl years ago and parents keep us apart just because she was a foster child. This song meant so much to us.
Any song dedicated to one who is no longer with us is, in the moment it is being sung, close to the time of their passing.
A Barry Gibb - Barbara Streisand duet - Above the Law - I think you will like....
This song is from the soundtrack of the movie Saturday Night Fever and was released in 1977. Andy Gibb passed away in 1988.
Not only did Andy die the previous year, 1988 (which you've probably figured out by now), but Andy performed this song a number of times, sometimes with his brothers on stage with him. So, I think there's a number of reasons they dedicated this performance to Andy.
I love a lot of songs but I can say that this is my favorite, number 1 for me no doubt
