Hazy seeing how it gives you the option to die OR resurrect I suppose its a somehow limited ability or it has a long cooldown or something because I don’t see why resurrection is an option in the first place instead of it happening instantly
@@itscoolthough419 it brings up the menu so that you can wait to ressurect until enemies drop their guard so that you can sneak attack or heal up before jumping back into the fight, which was done in this video with the monks.
I guess choosing to die on your first death would be for if you realize that you don't have the gear or skills needed for the boss fight and are just leaving rather than getting splatted a second time for no benefit.
@@itscoolthough419 you only have 1. Maybe you get more? The red orb above certain larger enemies health is how many times they can resurrect. So for the giant ogre guy for instance, you actually have to "kill" him twice.
You actually get multiple chances at resurrection depending on the number of pink orbs you have. I think you get those by killing or attacking enemies and they can build up to a number. You can't use them unlimited times but they definitely go higher than twice. I saw it in a game play video a few months ago.
Hey, you can even see the answer at 2:21 if you play the video at 0.25x and see the Bundled Jizo Statue.

Nioh: I'm the closest thing you'll ever see to a Japanese themed Dark Souls.

Nioh is still more of a Darksouls than Sekiro seems to be, considering multiplayer, customization and how you fight enemies in general.
area design wise and aesthetically sekiro is a lot closer tho. i love nioh but it feels more like a cheesy ps2 era game for some reason, which is something i like about it tbh.
I suppose what Nioh largely lacks in comparison in similarity to Dark Souls is one huge map, which is why it linearity is a necessity in Nioh. to oppose linearity, it gives some branching paths on maps and presents sidequests that revisit the same maps to play them differently, but that is a far cry from one whole, intertwining map that has all of those things without having to reload in between, leading to a fresh and flowing experience.
It's a shame that, if Nioh would want to implement all side quests into the main levels, that those levels would soon become crowded, leaving little in ways of a compromise for what already exists. It would also prevent the sidequests from telling their story as they do. Nioh would have to radically change to implement a vibrant overworld element.
I personally don't think it's a horrid decision though, and it does keep its focus on the pursuit/priority of William in the story, preventing derailment (Skyrim being very good at having a derailing overworld, for instance..), but I do think a Dark Souls-esque overworld might suit Nioh very well.

War is hell, man.
It's not actually due to Japanese bodies, it is because of the craftsmanship of Japanese steel. Using a Japanese sword, otherwise known as a katana, allows the wielder to make such fine a cut so as to cut through air, the resulting absence of air creates a vacuum. When an enemy of the daimyo, or a yokai, is cut with a katana their blood rushes to fill in the void left by the cut, and creates a pronounced gush of blood. Hope this helped.

@@conkerlive101 Eh, sure the PvP community is very vocal and has kept the games relevant for a longer time as far as invasions are concerned but the vast majority of people that buy the Souls games aren't part of that. Most people do a couple of playthroughs at the absolute most and then move on.
So while no PvP might hurt the longevity of the game, it probably won't mean much for actual sales.

Interestingly, the story turned out pretty easy to understand with actual dialogue about what is happening and cutscenes that show what is happening
Kind of uncommunicative lore-wise but definitely not cryptic the way that the more soulslike games have been. I still find it kinda hilarious how they make the whole plot about being a bodyguard and then halfway through they just casually mention the fact that your charge is unkillable. With the stuff about using his bloodline it still makes sense he has a bodyguard, but it's kind of hilarious that they didn't see fit to mention that.
@@stevenneiman1554 That makes perfect sense though for various reasons. For one, a bodyguard might not risk life and limb for their charge, if they knew their charge literally couldn't die. The bodyguard could think to use their charge as a distraction, or just not feel pressed to charge recklessly, if danger is approaching.
The kid is also royalty, while you the mc are just an orphaned nobody. Do you think King's, Prince's etc. back in the day, told all their secrets (or even just the most important ones) to their bodyguards? I seriously doubt it. What if they turn traitor, or end up captured & tortured. A bodyguard is meant to protect, nothing more, nothing less.
@@Slate398 Thing is, this wasn't kept a secret FROM SEKIRO THE CHARACTER. He reacted with no surprise whatsoever, strongly implying he already knew. And in general kuro is extremely willing to trust Sekiro with sensitive information and tasks. It was just the audience that it was never mentioned to.

Loved the banjo and kazooie music during the boss fight.
I think the lack of online stuff might be for the best since now FROM can focus on making a tight single player experience, sorta like what King's Field was aiming for but with better technology, more combat flow and more dev experience behind the game this time around.
i'm more just amazed activision isn't trying to push a cash shop funded massively multiplayer mode into this game
To be honest the only enjoyable PvP in DS is DS2, summoning with friends can be fun but I've only done coop with friends a handful of times in the souls games and the only reason I play DS online IE summon is if i'm stuck on a boss, so I say good riddance to the online aspect if they can use those resources to craft the tightest singleplayer souls like to date.
@@Grandmaster-Kush I hear ya. I like the PvP, but after a while it becomes painfully obvious that the combat formula gets stretched awfully thin when you get actual humans involved in the combat. oh and if you don't have amazing net good luck trying to land any critical move whatsoever.
I don't think multiplayer stuff ever took away much from Soulsborne games in terms of budget, and if you want to play alone you can always stay offline.

Great video. I honestly can't get enough of this game. I've played Tenchu, Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden, Demon's Souls, etc. To have even seen something like this come full-circle after so many nuances on From Software's work from Tenchu Z til' now, I'm beyond grateful.

It might even have an actual pause. Souls games had the potential for initiating online pvp at virtually any time, so pausing would have been a mess. But since Sekiro is exclusively single player without coop or pvp, a pause might be implemented.

@@shikniwho7215 I also read somewhere we can "soft-pause" just to cycle items and prosthetics. Dunno if it's true. It would be nice, because cycling through this stuff is the worst. Won't be so bad for 3 prosthetics, but will for 5 items. Really bad control scheme.
