One thing to note about tip 15, if you spam block, your deflect timing window will stagnate temporarliy (less frames), meaning you will be much less likely to land a deflect if you use this method than if you were to try timing it properly. I would recommend holding block, and then releasing it and re-applying it quickly when you think an attack is going to land, that way you're safe from fast attacks that could catch you off-guard. Great video though!
@@ClassicKrusty Apart from the loading screen, I can attest to this as well: spamming block/deflect against the Corrupted Monk whirly-twirly attack lets me deflect on average 2/5 hits (usually the first and the last), whereas trying to time it correctly gets me on average 3.5/5 (I'm not very consistent on the 4th attack).
Yup. As someone who was block dancing from the get-go cause i needed something to spam other than r1 (i still do both sometimes against bosses), I can confirm its true especially against bosses
I played Sekiro before Dark Souls. So I got reverse treatment. I would sit right in front of every boss to just parry everything in Dark Souls. It did not work out well
I came from playing a lot of the witcher where if you versed a big boss you couldnt block so everytime i vs a larger opponent i have to remind myself to deflect not dodge.
The Genichiro fight on the top of Ashina Castle was one of the greatest boss fight experiences I’ve ever had. I had been struggling and struggling for days against him. Then one day the whole game just kind of clicked. I had to stop rushing through the fight and take it more like a dance, and I had to start treating my dance partner with more patience and let him make the mistakes. This game is awesome and I love it.
It truly does feel like you’re dancing with them, following a single rhythm once you got it. I lost easily 30 times in a row to Genichiro and after being absolutely blown to pieces in the last round I respawned and entered almost god mode I deflected all the deflectable attacks and only got hit once. I was shaking at the end of the fight I wasn’t expecting a 2nd phase and the last cut scene almost gave me a heart attack lmao
I agree, it was probably my favorite boss fight in the game, it's (for the most part) the only fight I have gone back to in reflection of strength just to master it to the point I can no hit the entire fight, it really does feel like a dance, and of course, silly me thought that me mastering that fight would be applicable to the inner genichiro fight....I was humbled quickly.
Sekiro's combat feels like a dance. Once you realize this and play by the game's rules, the combat becomes more satisfying and interactive than any other Soulsborne title, and for me personally, any other game at all. Magnificent design.
Not really, it's just a lot of deflects. There are no actual combos, no creative ways to fight bosses. Also you only have one weapon that is the Katana so that means only one form of attack.
One thing that really helped me in this game coming from DS is realizing that you have to play more aggressively defensive. As in, you want to be up in your enemy's face but once you're there, you want to play more defensive and counter your enemy's hits compared to the souls games. Hesitation is defeat.
Patience can also make things longer than they need to be. If you're not deflecting attacks you should be attacking. Don't let the enemy's posture go down.
@Pharoah M it is a thing, if u cant comprehend it, then u dont gv ur respect enough. (maybe cz u die a lot from this game too, then turning to insult it, lol)
Thank you to all who joined the stream - felt like I was laughing the whole way through. Love you guys. Love covering Sekiro for you all. Feeling pretty damn blessed
You're great man! I started watching you about BB stuff, but I'm elated that you're still making videos about current FS games! Keep it up! We love you!
@Dark Zer9f I felt that way sometimes, took days to beat bosses for me. Sekiro is hard and I'm not good at games 😅 only beat the game because I didn't give up.. when I did it felt soo good 😌. Then I found out the game could be harder.. wtf like seriously 🤣
@Dark Zer9f It doesn't need an easy mode, it needs more options to make the game easier. In Sekiro you can't find a better weapon, level up, or summon friends to help, that's one of the things that makes the game hard.
Even when there is no PvP, FromSoft still included Blockdancing so you could gesture and teabag the AI. Felt great doing it to the Shinobi Hunter once I mastered the spear-parry xD
Little tip (you probably already know) is that you can practice at the training guy in your home base. Did that for 20 min or so non stop and now I never mis it's one of the best moves in the game !
@@thelegendarysupersaiyanbro6535 I beat Gyobu in the first ten tries, and for Guardian Ape I stomped his ass on the fourth. Genichiro was nothing after killing almost every miniboss, and then Owl in Ashina Castle with his Ministry soldiers said "hey, you're not that guy, pal."
@@Retro49 oh no no no. The only boss who has killed me more times than him is I think blood starved beast or Rom the spidy from BB. I quit BB after rom lol gonna start again
One I was expecting but never saw Is the fact that the contact poison item, and ghr mist raven prosthetic tool have a very powerful combo Usually you can only use the mistraven feathers either right before or right after taking damage. But when you are using the contact poison, which is like the weakest poison ever. You can use it whenever you please. Even midair
Another thing you can do, is use the Feathers when you're about to get hit by lightning, I don't remember if it automatically jumps you upwards or if you have to jump manually, but then you can still use the lightning to strike back. It gives you a MASSIVE window to strike back instead of possibly messing it up.
That jump kick allowed me to beat a miniboss I had no business fighting at my current progression level... Excellent video and may the flames guide thee.
@MeesTheSame the axe is actually good anyway. if you unlock the follow up skill for it it can bust through anyones guard pretty much. enemies you;d usually have to deflect, you can just beat them down with the axe. the spear might be better later on, but it's easy to get the axe right at the start.
@MeesTheSame The tough early mini-boss down the well was giving me problems until I decided to tank through him with the axe, which worked on the first attempt. It's not my fave prosthetic, but there are some non-shield situations where you can go effectively use Dark Souls heavy weapon style strats.
After about 40 hours and finally beating the 4 first bosses and understanding the game in depth I have to say it's even better than I expected...from software are true artists for taking the risk to do something so different and amazing when they could just do bloodborne 2 and play it safe
yeah, I can say that this is the only game that i like from them because in dark souls you rely mostly on I-frames. like, in dark souls you can literally roll in some of the bosses attacks with no damage taken, while in this game you need to read the bosses attacks and react accordingly if you want to beat them.
Come back after you've cleared NG+/++ and realized that the game is actually goddamn empty aside from its great combat and severely lacks content for a major AAA title, from a known company with the backing of a huge western publisher.
i love watching the enemies in sekiro let down their guard when you die, and go into "oh shit" mode when you pick yourself up bonus points for fromsoft for making enemies aware that you have dragon's blood keep their guard up as you lay there
After I switched to an SSD most games load too fast for me to even be able to read the tips. But they actually explain a few of these very well when you first encounter something new or if you train with the undying samurai.
I did too... but not because I wanted to, it was because of dying too damn much. Now I can safely say, its much less reading and more skipping to a tio I havent read or have known. Still loving the game, but damn, never though I could be scared to get into random fights with NPC's till Sekiro. Still not too far in (but total time mupst be over 15 hours atleas)
Honestly loved how they manage to change the combat from being R1 spamming to trying to time your blocks. Although this will lead to the opposite change of being an L1 spam now where people try to constantly block in order to get the deflect in.
Sekiro: There's no stamina, but posture, which recovers faster when blocking Players: Play this game exactly the other way how you played Dark Souls and Bloodborne and don't dodge! Me: THERE IS NO STAMINA??!! * runs the whole boss fight against the blazing bull and Lady Butterfly and only stops to deal single HP blows from behind * After the first two tries, those two bosses were actually among the easiest for me. I know this is not how I'm supposed to play, but I think the game is the easiest, if you consider a wide variety of gameplay styles matching your individual situations. Blocking and parrying for most enemies, outrunning huge and fast enemies, using prosthetics against enemy gadgets, using prosthetics as gadgets it situations get out of hand, dodging sideways for enemies who mainly rely on strong vertical attacks, mikirin counters against spears, etc. ... If you add the stealth, I think this game actually offers the most variety in minute to minute gameplay over any souls game.
Yeah I keep rage quitting cuase I was playing this like dark souls but I decided to change and play how the game wanted me to play , to be more defensive and for some go full dark souls and I now appreciate the game more lol
@@milesinwyatteandcora Some fights you should be more aggressive like the Genichiro fights. It's how I won tbh. But for that Guardian Ape fight? I kept running in the second phase trying to bait him into doing that stupid little dive attack.
@@Adamzki55555 for sure. I have never thought to do my 4th run on sekiro and I have never thought to do my second in ER. I will do my second when DLC comes and maybe I have forgotten enough of the game to make it fresh.
@@apashehab5026 short? Bro, you’re playing every boss tenths of times before you beat it. That’s the whole point of the game. You can spend days before you beat it once.
I learned after fighting Lady Butterfly a million times that after the enemy deflects your blow the sound is different and it signals they will usually attack afterwards, sometimes dodge away.
@@oger3225 He is saying that the enemy after deflecting sometimes he will go away from you. Genichiro does this a lot. After deflecting, usualy he will attack with this sword or take a step back with a high chance of a bow and arrow attack .
Ok. Sabimaru’s poison and speed are no joke. I used the massive combo to punish the long recovery times of certain Enemies such as the guardian ape and get a lot of damage off with minimal effort.
I had it worse today. Did a bit of stuff in Sekiro, then switched to Nioh and oh boy, was I confused for some minutes. Especially when it comes to attacking and blocking. Took me 5-10 minutes til I could play it flawlessly again. That's what 3 days or so of Sekiro do to you.
Yeah the combat is the best they've made to date. It's unique and is so fun and cool sounding. The sounds of clashing your blade and attacking when an opponent is open is perfect
the creative design decisions in this gane when it comes sound design is so satsifying, like every de^thblow has the super loud blunt noise which is so unnecessary and makes no senese but regardless exists purely for further stimulation and therefore enjoyable af. every kick, sword slash, deflects, shuriken , st^bs, slit etc sound so damn satisfyimg
No kidding. I'll say even more. Sekiro has the best and the most satisfying combat (once you git gud in around at least 70%) from every game I've ever played. Everything makes sense and just clicks.
This makes more sense then it should, historically Japan had short people. The ogre is probably just a regular 6ft guy askasking for a lawyer and saying Denmark is a beeter country.
Personally if you want to grind early game, do so in the area before the Genichiro fight. The statue just after the window when you first enter the castle. You can stealth kill half the enemies in that area and they give you a lot of xp in the early game
The most useful tip right here. I started playin a few days ago and noticed that when an enemy deflects, their next attack is usually more easy to deflect cause you can see it comin more slowly!
Whoah didn't know about the map, that's cool! Most of these combat tips can actually be learned from the practice combat with Hanbei the Undying right outside of the sculptors temple. There's helpful training baked right in to the game
Yup, hanbei is pretty helpful but more as a tutorial of a certain mechanic rather than actual training/mastering of it. He is pretty slow so his lessons wont prepare anybody for a real fight with enemy which is using certain mechanic which u want to learn
@@TheMrCHELL you dont need to be a genius in video games to be good. even average skill player can beat the games and everyone can reach that level. you just too lazy to learn.
I’ve played Dark Souls 1, Dark Souls 3, and some Dark Souls 2/Bloodborne. Sekiro has to be one of my favorites by far. I’ve never felt so satisfied and badass after beating a hard enemy, mini boss or boss. This video also was helpful with things like “the bell” where it’d increase the difficulty. I’ve been playing the game at 1 curse ever since around the Corrupted Monk and the Guardian Ape, and even if it’s supposed to be harder, it’s still very fun.
Getting the Ashina skill tree early on will also greatly help, considering its passives are all about reducing psoture damage taken, and increasing posture damage dealt.
I knew most of these, I've progressed and learned so fucking much. I feel like with every fight, I just get stronger mentally, or just wiser. While Dark Souls was more physically. Sekiro is a fucking gem, truly.
i think i like this way more. Where in DS you had to have the right stats to even be on par with a boss or have an advantage i like how standard everything is for this game.
I learnt this skill when fighting Lord Genichiro at Ashina Castle when he does his long combo :D I call it the "high risk, high reward" deflect skill x'D
I always thought of souls games as like rhythm games- it's like your enemy is tapping a drumbeat that you have to tap between the beats of without them overlapping.
The Genichiro fight taught me trading offense/defense. I love how Sekiro uses bosses to train you for the next part of the game by only allowing one way of combat and punishing others
I beat the game 7 times and levelled attack power to 99. One thing I would like to add is I usually spam block button until I get the first block. Then I can follow it with the rhythm of remaining attacks. The first block is the hardest, rest of the attacks has very identifiable rhythm.
trikZ Ji it does! I struggled so much against lady butterfly but after I think like 100 deaths I finally conquered her and I felt like a bad ass. I just wasn’t playing aggressive enough.
PVP in souls pissed me off. I had this character with powerful armour and weapon. I was wrecking bosses. Then in pvp, a naked guy just stands in front of me. I attack, he uses parry, and back stabs me for like 500 damage and i die.
I never used the meta prosthetics I just sticked to my axe from beginning to end. My favourite combo is mikiri axe and praying strike exorcism. I shredded Isshin and Genichiro with this
I know most people didn't play it that way, but I turtled my way through the Souls games. Like literally put on the heaviest shield/armor I could find and play more through blocking and spacing than dodging. It does make more sense to me that Sekiro as a ninja game offers more mobility and requires more precision
If you played kindom come the best medieval game the best way to defend is deflecting or parrying to and is more accuracy then guys with heavy weapons and armors rolling endless in the floor...
I ended up almost beating the entire game with that demon Bell thing in my inventory. After beating the final boss and almost losing my mind from dying so many times, I checked my inventory before ng+ to see if there was anything left to do and saw I still had it but just forgot. On one hand (heh) I feel pretty godlike at the game now but I still wish I woulda just not had it instead and kept some of my sanity
I feel you. Forgot the thing, removed it after several endboss-attempts... kinda feels like cheating now. I mean phase one went from "every mistake will be your last and you have to deal vitality damage to get anywhere" to "guardbreak him in less than a minute" On the other hand - thanks to demon bell - I have way too much upgrade material. Like WAY too much. But hey, now I know the patterns, right?
You can take another difficulty modifier by giving kuros charm back to him in new games plus, when you combine it with the demon from the bell it really makes for a challenging game, the kuros charm makes you take damage from any non deflected attacks, and since posture goes down slower in new game plus its really something :D
@@Sharethepain i thought that dmg after blocking was the instant you go to NG+. Im in NG+4 and didnt do that but im still taking dmg after blocking an attack.
This really helped me change my mindset and realize why I was so bad. After I watched this I basically went Super Saiyan. I finally understood why I was dying and stopped being mad.
Awesome tips! Figured most out on my own but that Lady Butterfly tip about her dodge attack weakness was on point. Literally went and tried it on her and demolished her. Thanks!
seriously i do think that sekiro is way easyier than ds 3 , cause you can parrie and combat feels more like you are in control , in other hands ds is finding the right time to atack and not beeing greed
Honestly I think deflecting is a lot easier in this game, except maybe for DS3's caestus. What annoys me to no end is that this time around that makes the game even harder to keep up with, since bosses will casually eat a perfect parry like it's nothing and continue their 10-hit combos, or even worse, just melt 60% of your HP with a single hit.
Also in this game they went out of their way to make more animations and make them look smoother so players could tell when an animation was triggered.
Played this back in '19 when Lady Butterfly and Flaming Bull made me think this might not be a game for me. I really wanted to like it but the constant frustation took its toll. Then came Elden Ring, teaching me the way of the Souls games. And so I picked it up again a few nights ago and when the good Lady suddenly didn't even manage to pull any of her 2nd phase tricks ... yeah, that felt good :D
That’s dope I bought this bc Elden ring was dope still ain’t finish that bc I started this shit I’m on the flaming bull and some fat ass motherfucker the deflecting is fucking dope🐐
The amount of times I’ve died trying to dodge is embarrassing 🤣 but i agree the combat is BY FAR my favourite of any souls game its so satisfying to hear swords clang when you time a block perfectly 👌
Freshly Memed finishing a boss fight having deflected most of their attacks, especially after a hard fight is the most cinematic and satisfying thing I've ever experienced in gaming. I think I'm at end game now, I've got the visit all areas trophy, so I'm hoping I've still got more optional bosses to fight
Reason why it's harder than Dark Souls: DS you ONLY focused on pressing dodge by timing the enemy's actions. Sekiro you MUST focus on the correct actions, from Dodging/Block/Jumping, or else you will be punished. Therefore your brain has to learn to prepare & react to all variety of actions at the right time. Dark Souls you can lay back and just think about pressing that Dodge button only.
Yeah, this game is kicking my butt harder than any Soulsborne game has done before. I'm making it, but it's tough to know when the attack's going to be a sweep or a thrust for example until you've faced an enemy a few times.
@spown93 I'm starting to get the hang of it. I got lady butterfly, killed 3 headless enemies, (they're tough) the 2 apes were also tough. But like I said, Bloodborne & DS felt more instinctive to me. Depends on the player, but lately I have been making good progress.
This is one of my most favorite From games I’ve played, maybe just a tiny bit below Bloodborne. I really like the combat. I find it to be a bit of a combination of Bloodborne’s aggressiveness and Dark Souls’s defensiveness. Some parts you gotta keep swinging, others, blocks and parries are your friend. Then there are some parts where you have to balance the two out. It’s so much fun.
There's no guilt with grinding in this game, since you can't increase your health, damage output, or posture by grinding. All you're doing is gaining the sweet ninja moves earlier.
@@royalblue5367 than why would they add the ability to grind in a game? That's what just about every video game Is, a grind that gives you a reward in the end. Like the whole basis of video games lmao

Tip: In Senpou Temple there are Monks that are seeking Immortality some monks successfully reached Immortality while others are still trying when you kill these Immortal Monks they cant die because there immortal *BUT* if you come back with the Mortal Blade you can sever there ties with Immortality with another deathblow and the mortal blade
Love the axe. I was always a slow and heavy weapon kind of guy in DS. I don't rely heavily on it. But it gives me some comfort in an unfamiliar combat system.
Yeah seriously! Dark souls 3 was easy for the most part because I'm so trained in rolling, but sekiro is such a fresh experience combatwise with the same spirit in the game's design. It's so cool having to balance attacking and defending, instead of roll left 3 times and attack. And although I hated jumping to dodge perilous attacks at the start, I've now come to love the depth it brings to combat. Absolutely my favorite FromSoft game.
A major tip for people grinding away at a boss and don’t want to lose their experience is the exp only reduced on death to the beginning of the exp point. If you have 5 points, then unless you spend them it cannot go below 5 points. So if you are grinding between bosses grind to the very next level and then no more to avoid wasting exp.
I almost returned this game, I died over 100 times on the Seven Spears, and then took me three days to pass Genichiro, but after him, I find I play it a lot better. Now I am glad I kept it last Sunday...
@@arbiter- Against normal enemies (until late game when their useless again because the enemies recover and attack to fast for you to use them), against bosses they'll just get you killed
@@robertpendli340 This is absolutely not true. Sekiro makes you pay attention, if you do you'll find that almost every boss and miniboss has dead moments where you can get behind them and attack. This can't be blocked and you usually have enough time to get off a thrust attack. If you have the presence of mind though, Ichimonji has the same wind up as a thrust, does more damage and posture damage, and recovers your posture. Nightjar reversal has the same wind up and lets you make enough distance that most bosses can't hit you. Senpo leaping kick is just- really good. It's just good, in fact it might be the best combat art int he game. Because it comes off instantly, takes you out of most enemy's attack arcs and to my knowledge no enemy can parry out of the wind up for a thrust or sweep attack so as long as you don't wiff you will do damage to an enemy doing a sweep, which almost every boss does at some point in their patterns. Combat arts are awesome and you should be using them.
@@ketherga All of the hardest bosses in the game except the secret one, are fast humanoid types who have enough down time for exactly one attack, 2 if you got behind them and stun them with the first. There is not a single combat art fast enough to hit the final boss of the game, who is by far the hardest (not sure about the one route that has a different final boss than the other three, from what I saw he's a easier as he doesn't have 4 god damn health bars). Against the slow bosses and minibosses, they're fine, but they're easy enough that you don't need the arts anyway and it's just styling on them. Except for Ichimonji (as its free, though so god damn slow(if it didn't deal bonus posture damage when blocked it would be the worst of them all)), none of them deal enough damage to either posture or vitality to justify their time cost or their spirit cost, you'd be better of dealing standard hits in nearly every instance, as even when you can hit with them, they are too slow and will cause you to miss the sweet spot where you can deal full damage, and instead deal heavily reduced damage.
8:30 I'm fairly certain blockdancing will guarantee you just get a regular block instead of a deflect. To prevent abusing the lack of recovery frames that come with a parry system like in dark souls.
After 1 year or so after completing the game the first time (cheesing and cursing my way through) I got back into it and had such a great time. Got the platinum trophy few weeks back and 6 playthrough later. Awesome game, new players are gonna have a hard time but its literally one of the most rewarding game out there!
I just saw the design at the end of the video and it blew me away. Gonna buy it as well, looks amazing. I think this is the first time I see merch from any youtuber that is done right.
Dodging was way too powerful before Sekiro in From Software Games, compared... This game challenges me now to parry. Can‘t wait to see how i perform in early souls games later on...
Because if you didn't dodge outside of DS1, you were punished. DS3 is arguable because you really didn't have to roll but in Bloodborne there is no way to block without taking a ton of damage.
Sekiro’s parry is far easier, it’s almost instantaneous with more frames and spammable while in DS you have to predict foes depending on your shield, hence why there are some shield made exceptionally for parrying (Buckler type have more parry frames, Caestus parries faster, etc...) In conclusion, playing Sekiro doesn’t improve your Dark Souls parrying skill. Playing Dark Souls does.
Your video is literally the only video on UA-cam that I could find that offers actual helpful and not-completely-obvious tips for people who have already spent several hours in the game. I appreciate your time, great job.
the moment that I decided that I'll forget everything I know on bloodborne and Dark souls and play as a shinobe that's when the magic of sekiro kicks in....
100% agree with that. I got through the first part of the game playing it like a Souls game and it was tough but then I hit a wall and couldn't get any further. I went back and did a bunch of farming focusing on trying to be aggressive and parrying rather than rolling and spamming R1 - suddenly it clicked. Everything seemed so much easier after that!
Agree, I wanted to play like a Soulsborne game and it sucked. I wasn't happy about Sekiro, but then I learned to play how are you supposed to play, and I started loving it. I love how some enemies and bosses are designed to screw Soulsborne strategies.
You made the light bulb in my head come on several times in this video. You Actually helped my game skill out tremendously with this, bc I instinctively want to dodge/ dash most every attack, & it took me weeks of playing just to get to the elite monk in the dojo, but could never come close to beating him. But now, combat actually makes sense and it feels possible to beat this game! *So a Big THANK YOU is in order!!!*
Man, I watched this video late but I just gotta tell this story of what made me love this game. I accidentally went to the first corrupted monk boss before fighting the first Genichiro. I spent maybe four hours straight on that fight and at some point I naturally found out the block dancing thing mentioned here while panicking. And then when facing Genichiro, I learned how to go from panic mashing block to finding the rhythm of an enemy's attack string, thus changing a hit on me into massive posture damage for them. It's incredible how naturally you can learn techniques in Sekiro.
You can make the game even harder when you start new game+ and choose to get rid of the charm. It's called "Hardship". You have to deflect perfectly otherwise you'll take damage while blocking etc.
@Andrei Georgescu actually that's a misinformation! Block doesn't negate all damage, you'll see what i mean later in the game, not talking about unlockable but certain bosses deal full damage thru block.
Man this game is good, I think the difficulty is suitable for a fromsoftware game a lot of people have been saying it's harder than other souls games but I believe that is only because it's a new experience with a new combat system, other than that it's the same path of difficulty.
Wow a tips and tricks video that's actually useful lol thanks man, this should help a lot. My tip is use the firecrackers on Gyoubu. His horse will freak out and you can get some hits in.
@@velo836 ah cool I didn't know that! I figured it worked on Gyoubo because of his horse and hadn't tried it on anything else except the Roosters lol loving the chasing strike with shuriken too, its way more useful then I expected.
I think if it's against a boss/mini boss charging up a big swing, then it does mean you're less likely to get a deflect and usually just take massive posture damage from blocking it regularly. But for standard enemies and flurry attacks, I feel like learning the timings is kinda redundant when spam L1 seems to give me just as good/better results. I think that long arm miniboss in the video is a great example of this. Just spam block until he does the sweep attack, then jump and kick and you've pretty much got him.
@@maximillionpegasus5160 yup. In reality....Genichero will decide who has learned these techniques well enough to continue forward in the game. I wish I could do that fight over, and over, and over. So epic

I had to stop rushing through the fight and take it more like a dance, and I had to start treating my dance partner with more patience and let him make the mistakes. This game is awesome and I love it.
A swedish girl streamer just beat genichiro with a dancepad hahahha
It truly does feel like you’re dancing with them, following a single rhythm once you got it. I lost easily 30 times in a row to Genichiro and after being absolutely blown to pieces in the last round I respawned and entered almost god mode I deflected all the deflectable attacks and only got hit once. I was shaking at the end of the fight I wasn’t expecting a 2nd phase and the last cut scene almost gave me a heart attack lmao
It was Great Shinobi Owl in the same place for me. It is definitely the greatest and most fun boss fight in Sekiro.
“Clicked” what is it with this word and Sekiro
Sekiro's combat feels like a dance. Once you realize this and play by the game's rules, the combat becomes more satisfying and interactive than any other Soulsborne title, and for me personally, any other game at all. Magnificent design.
Sekiro is OSU! mod combat mode.
and also more fun to watch, im tired of the same dodging motion over and over again
exactly
BagOfTricks I absolutely agree. It’s my favorite single player game out right now
Not really, it's just a lot of deflects.
Shut up old man
Patience can also make things longer than they need to be. If you're not deflecting attacks you should be attacking. Don't let the enemy's posture go down.

Another thing you can do, is use the Feathers when you're about to get hit by lightning, I don't remember if it automatically jumps you upwards or if you have to jump manually, but then you can still use the lightning to strike back. Reason why it's harder than Dark Souls:
DS you ONLY focused on pressing dodge by timing the enemy's actions.
Sekiro you MUST focus on the correct actions, from Dodging/Block/Jumping, or else you will be punished.
Therefore your brain has to learn to prepare & react to all variety of actions at the right time.
Dark Souls you can lay back and just think about pressing that Dodge button only.

@@LauncherSpiderMk7 If it makes the game easier, then grinding is definitely a cop out.

Love the axe. I was always a slow and heavy weapon kind of guy in DS. I don't rely heavily on it. But it gives me some comfort in an unfamiliar combat system.
Good luck on some of the bosses they will punish your axe so hard
@@hanifshort3309 Not like he could just adjust ... Not like games are literally.. about that...
Notice the axe has the same sound effect as the heavy weapons in DS?
This guide was super helpful, I've been struggling to adapt to Sekiro but your advice has really helped improve my gameplay.
I feel like I'm being challenged by a FromSoft game again and I love it.
Absolutely my favorite FromSoft game.
right? i also love how i am again saying, "DAMN that fight was so fun" after beating a boss. been a while since i got that thrill.
My god, spending your gold on the coin pouches is a revelation. No idea that was possible. Maybe I won't be a broke ass shinobi anymore!
I almost returned this game, I died over 100 times on the Seven Spears, and then took me three days to pass Genichiro, but after him, I find I play it a lot better. Now I am glad I kept it last Sunday...

Anyone that says “sekiro is just block mashing” clearly doesn’t truly know the combat system.
Nah, it's deflect mashing
I knew all that L1 spamming in the Souls games all those years would finally be beneficial
Just be sure not to hit L1+R1 at the same time accidentally, you can't cancel combat arts by blocking.
This is why I don't even equip combat arts a lot of the time.

You probably won’t see this but thanks for all the Dark Souls/Bloodbourne videos and now Sekiro, just ordered a T-Shirt. Thanks You 👍🏼
Almost read it T-series , the global enemy!
I just saw the design at the end of the video and it blew me away. Gonna buy it as well, looks amazing. I think this is the first time I see merch from any youtuber that is done right.
“Peace out so those around you dont get dragon cancer” made me laugh more than i should ve
Dodging was way too powerful before Sekiro in From Software Games, compared...
This game challenges me now to parry.
Can‘t wait to see how i perform in early souls games later on...
Because if you didn't dodge outside of DS1, you were punished. DS3 is arguable because you really didn't have to roll but in Bloodborne there is no way to block without taking a ton of damage.
i finished sekiro by only dodging
Lam How Wei same lol I hate deflections
Sekiro’s parry is far easier, it’s almost instantaneous with more frames and spammable while in DS you have to predict foes depending on your shield, hence why there are some shield made exceptionally for parrying (Buckler type have more parry frames, Caestus parries faster, etc...)
In conclusion, playing Sekiro doesn’t improve your Dark Souls parrying skill. Playing Dark Souls does.
Ds1 and Ds2 rolls weren't too powerful. Ds3 though... Yikes... Roll Souls
Once I learned how block consistent amd Miriki counter the game became way easier.
*Shinobi
The moment you remenber what Vadiiya.... biggest dick move: copy padte whithout credit
Can't wait for your Prepare To Cry: Little Robert and his father.
You have to deflect perfectly otherwise you'll take damage while blocking etc.
why would anyone do this to themselves is beyond me
@@andrejoss475 don't even question my life decision, no charm+ demon Bell baby
andrejoss475 people eat extremely spicy food for giggles, same mentality there.
@Andrei Georgescu actually that's a misinformation! Block doesn't negate all damage, you'll see what i mean later in the game, not talking about unlockable but certain bosses deal full damage thru block.
@@maxlastbreath Yeap. It doesnt block elemental, magic, thrust, sweep, grabs, and combat arts.
Taylor Cox another tip: Firecrackers work on just about anything to get a free hit. Bonus points on Animal like enemies
@@velo836 ah cool I didn't know that! I figured it worked on Gyoubo because of his horse and hadn't tried it on anything else except the Roosters lol loving the chasing strike with shuriken too, its way more useful then I expected.
The fact that block dancing he showed was something I learned on my own and thought I was who created it lol
Spamming block makes deflects harder.
Source: Tip on loading screen
And they're wrong lol
So epic
@@revfunk8823 Genichiro? You mean the guy who dies from R1 spam?
@@jiggaman198 lol he's the first boss or mini boss that actually fights back. If you won with r1 spam alone, go buy a lottery ticket as rngesus is shining upon you. They probably only compared it with Nioh due to the Japanese style and it being hard. But I gotta admit Nioh feels quite a lot easier and way more predictable after playing Sekiro and I finished Nioh on the first two difficulties on console.
