Thanks for the video, my kids actually train under Sainjargal. His knowledge of judo is amazing. You’re right, they have no trouble fighting up close. The Mongolian Judo motto is “whatever works!” 😂
The homie using the baseball bat on the Mongolian judoka was their former president Battulga. He's also the reason Mongolia had a healthy investment in their judo development.
Great video. I requested videos like this, i don't know if you decided to do this video because of my request but either way great video thanks man. I am an israeli i will be interesting for me to see a video like this on israeli judo. It's less flashy then mongolian and Japanese style however israelis are known as great judokas. A lot of mental thoughness and good technic like sagi muki.
Mongolian Judo to me is like a mix between Greco Roman Wrestling and Judo. I personally use the Mongolian Judo techniques but I use Greco Roman grips and at this point it feels like I've abandoned traditional Japanese Judo as I only grab the gi if it means pulling my opponent towards me or pulling them downward. I feel like Mongolian Judo is more effective especially in Jiu Jitsu where players like to Hunker down a lot.
2:00 its not just the grips. its because the mongolian style judo happens when you cross train in traditional mongolian wrestling. why does it make a difference? because in Bokh, the win condition is similar to sumo: The wrestler who first touched the ground with anything but the soles of the foot loses. This enhances the wrestlers positional awareness to counter from places one would expect to be losing positions. ua-cam.com/video/vMcrSipb3L0/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/7i_p14OFQgQ/v-deo.html Thats a mini doc that shows it better. you can watch from 5:00 of first part to get the main point
I am a fan of your channel and really appreciate covering Mongolian judo, but I want to say that it is not called Mongolian sumo; it's called Mongol Böh or Mongolian wrestling. Likewise, I would not call sumo as Mongol sumo; it's totally different.
I'm surprised the head grip / "guillotine" like grip at the end of the video is illegal. I'm still pretty new to Judo, but it looks like a really interesting throw. I am however convinced that someone would comment on it "attacking the neck"...
Off topic question... I was having a conversation with a friend and we both agreed that Ono is probably the best p4p judoka competing internationally right now. Who would you say is number 2?
Their style has already been neutered with no legs allowed and even further because of the bullshit standing rules that don't allow unorthodox grips paired with ijf garbage stance on bear hugs
@@JudoHighlights2015 which one lmao. The one versus Keiji Suzuki ? There's alot And yeah bokh is what they use but international judo encourages the opposite. They want homogeneous judo and which is ineffective irl
@@JudoHighlights2015 it's garbage 🗑️. Try any of these irl you'll get yourself hurt. You're instinct is go for legs and also to duck under and be defensive. Force limiting within grappling is never good.. wrestling is much better now. Judo is like 33 percent of what Kano left it at
@@rahadt904 I know many people who have used judo (easily) in real life to deescalate situations. I’ve even used it myself in MMA sparring against the uninitiated. Judo is incredibly easy against those who do not know what’s coming. Usually wrestling wins on the feet, but the wrestler is usually uninitiated to the submissions. Judo is well balanced art if you ask me.
Mongolians wrestle horses from the day they are born, it’s a natural part of life on the steppe and clearly something their horses can handle given their thick legs and low center of gravity. If it didn’t work 800 years ago it wouldn’t have become tradition.

I love this style of judo. I have been messing around with the grips in class and found they catch out alot of the more traditional guys. Nice video 👍

Thanks a lot, I saw this was requested by someone in the comments - I'm so glad you decided to follow up on it!
I try to!
Great work from you to show the art of mongolian judo/wrestling techniques. Cheers ...
Yondonperenlei bear hugging his way to ippons lol.
I'm surprised Monkbat wasn't in the video, but the horse take down was amazing.
Yeah she’s great, but I don’t think she’s representative of the style. She has her own unique style going on

Ever thought of doing a collab with Chadi? You guys analyzing styles together would be interesting.
He’s in Osaka right now, and I live here

Les mongols sentent vraiment bien le Judo. Ils sont très forts en confusions et en changements de direction.

Judo is just bad ass!!
Could u do a video about the brazilian style? I'm a big fan from Brazil and would be really happy to see it
Hmmm. Not sure I have a huge grasp on the Brazilian style. Lots of newaza?

Number 2! Interesting question. Has to be Abe or Nagase.
shuai jiao!!!
You should see the videos of cowboys wrestling cows!
Russia: bears
mongol: horses
the bears they wrestle are usually black bears or small grizzlies though
That’s name is not Mongolian judo it’s böh traditional Mongolian martial art
You guys gotta see Mongolian national wresting
