Amazing job! I didn't know Reaper could be customized to do just about anything...
Thank you. Great information and resources.
Thanks for the knowledge. this is just what i needed to see on the menu. Always learning
Glad you liked it buddy :)
This is fantastically useful, thank you for making this video.
Thanks Ian! Makes my day to hear people are enjoying these longer videos :)
Super good video. I feel like I learn something new every time I see someone else's toolbar.
Thanks Andre! These toolbar videos seem to be well-liked and I got a few more coming :)
Great stuff, thanks!! I'll hafta watch it at least once more to absorb everything.
Thank you! You can download my toolbar too if you want: www.iddqdsound.com/post/celebrating-50-rfrt-videos-free-downloads
Top notch! Thanks to thee for sharing all thy wisdom this year & have a merry Yuletide!
Thanks so much! Happy Christmas to you too!
Very useful stuff here. Merry Christmas 🎅
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you too!
Too much good info. Thank you. Absorption is key.
A bit too much? I'm slowly learning to slow down a bit but pardon the older videos :)
Great Video. I believe Triangle view is great for cleaning up the screen when changing volume values . Keep up the good Tuts.
Ahhhhh okay this makes sense!!
I keep my toolbar fairly clean so far. I was a bit cynical I'd get some additions to my toolbar, but watched anyways... and of course.. I have some additions! Great video. There's some very useful tips here.
Glad you liked them :)
best thumbnail I have ever seen.
yaaaay! I am big time insecure about my thumbnails so thanks for that :)
@@IDDQDSound haha it caught my eye immediately and was funny at the same time. Thumbnails are pretty important! Nice work. Nice video too
MIDI Note Selector is sweet. I often drew a stream of hihat notes and manually selected every other note to adjust their velocity. What a pain. This will be much faster.
Happy to hear that :)
Thanks a lot, it really helps ! One question : how did you add metronome in the midi toolbar ?
Hey Isabelle! Thanks for the question! It's surprisingly inconvenient, but you have to download a script from Reapack, it's called:
Script: Archie_MidiEditor; Toggle metronome.lua
Before I had this icon, I also had a hotkey for my metronome (Command option T) and as long as the same hotkey isn't bound to anything in the MIDI editor, it gets passed through to the main actions, so that's a good workaround too :)
Subscribed. Your pretty awesome dude...
Thanks for the sub! Appreciatte it :)
Good content on your channel man.
Zoom to content can also be done by double clicking horizontal space bar.
Yeah true! I have my mouse mods for that, since I use other DAWs and wanted it to work the same as Logic Pro and Ableton :)
Holy cow, why am I still using Studio One??? You are such an inspiration dude, thanks!
Strangely, on my Macbook when I am in Reaper, other applications "show through" a little e.g. I can sometimes see Firefox "shining" through the edit window. And also the hower mouseover windows (the info boxes) of Reaper are sometimes visible though I am in another applications as Mail oder a browser. Has anyone else experienced that?
IDDQD forever! :-)
I love getting comments from you! Makes me feel so good!
I have see through menus but never heard of entire see through windows. Try this. Go to System prefs (on your mac not reaper ahah) then Accessibility>Display and tick the box that says Reduce transparency.
For me that makes my menus not be see through, but again, never seen entire windows being see through!
p.s. close Google Chrome when you render. I have no evidence to support this claim, but when I have firefox open my renders have clicks in them :D
@@IDDQDSound Always a pleasure. Ah I didn't know about these setting in the prefs. Thanks for pointing that out!
It didn't solve the problem, in my case it might be a general MacOS problem but also good to know that issues can occur in the render process when browsers are open. Thank you sir!
Cheers, Andy McFluff
This is great and all. My issue is how did you build this menu bar? Is it a download? Is there a link? I loaded a midi tool bar, but it doesn't have all of this. Do you have a vid on how to build this awesome tool bar? Please LMK. Great Channel BTW! TIA!
is it possible to download your configuration from this video with the midi tool bars and actions to import into reaper? this was great stuff well organized and very useful actions
Thank you Malcolm! I'll make this available soon, but just fyi, it's sort of complicated. So I can give you my whole configurations, and that could work, but it'll change all of reaper for you basically. So you may not want that. So the alternative is, you have to have all the scripts I use, which you can get from ReaPack, then I can have you download my toolbar and icons, but again you have to manually import the toolbars to your toolbar_icons folder and then finally import the toolbar. If you're on Facebook or Discord get in touch with me (look up IDDQDSound#2163 on this Discord or just IDDQD Sound on Facebook) and I'll send them to ya!
Excellent stuff man.. but how did you get the chord gun into your midi toolbar ?
Try as I might I can't seem to work it out.
Is ok Arya, I figured it out.. one has to load the script into the relevant section of the action list..
So.. about Lokasenna Midi Note Selector.. where did you find that because I have SPK77 one in my toolbar.
And, for PC users, right mouse click on the piano key selects all notes on that key in the open midi edit window.
Peas.
@@alexanderjoewinterbone676 Hey Alexander! I got the Lokasenna scripts on Reapack. I just selected all available repos and installed all of them. Even though I don't use all of them. They don't take up too much space and every once in a while I have a browse through.
Glad you figured out the toolbar thing.
thx thx thx thx thx thx
Merry Xmas for everyone!
I am a beginner in Reaper and for me it is kind of confusing how to import these lua files,
i found in your homepage properly.
The other thing which i can't found out, that which of those links contains all these graphical
buttons and new functions in one, what you mentioned in this video.
Hey David! thanks for the questions! First of all, d'oi cuz I forget to mention how I found the icons, but if you want to download those google "reaper stash" and in there you can search for icons and they're all free to download, plus a lot of other things you can find!
For scripts, this is what you should do:
Step 1 (Optional but important for organization)): Go to options> Show reaper resource path in explorer/finder
it'll take you to a folder, find the folder named scripts, maybe make a sub folder there calling it Custom scripts or something. Paste the lua scripts there.
Then go back to reaper, go to actions list and on the bottom right, click on new action, then in the drop down, click on Load Reascript. Click on the lua scripts you put in the folder, and they will now be in your actions list. :)
@@IDDQDSound Thank you for the answer! maybe if you'd make a short tutorial about this whole process, that could be useful for beginners like me.
Sure will do! I'll make one tomorrow :) happy Holidays
@@davidszekely4604 ua-cam.com/video/LGkB9EOn3sE/v-deo.html Here's the tutorial! Couldn't resist! Enjoy and lemme know if it was helpful!
Wow, very useful. One thing, why in the even list dissapear the track list? Do you konw if exists the way for have track list in the even list?
ahhh never noticed that! But no I don't think so. :(
Can you please try remaking Fl Studios workflow in reaper? You are a genius man! This shit is so awesome!
Thank you! I never used FL myself but if there's a feature you can send a video of, I can take a crack at it!
Lots of those buttons could be changed to cycle actions and save space.
Yeah I do have a cycle action that goes between Diamonds and Square view. Still got room but ultimately I'll get rid of them if I need to. What other actions were you thinking could be cycles?
14:24 Can you please guide me through where I can get that script and how to install it? All I could Google is "find Reapcak and install that script by Lokasenna frome there', which is not very helpful. Thanks!
Hey! I can guide you through the steps but it's hard to do with text. Send me an email (iddqdsoundoffical at gmail dot com) and I'll send you a quick guide with pictures and stuff!
Alternatively watch this vid: ua-cam.com/video/S2a4QWqZ53M/v-deo.html
Once you have Reapack, you can go to Extensions>Browse Packages and search for 'MIDI Note Selector", then right click and hit install.
ReaPack is really really useful for all kinds of actions so definitely get it!
is there a way to hide a individual note on the note row?
Yes! Explained at the end of this video: Is there a way to stretch this midi chords to that marker position? This audio was not recorded to a click and the maximum grid value doesn't let me stetcht the chords further than where they are in the picture...I would need to move the chords by frames or milliseconds and not by Midi values to achieve this...I remember this was possible in Cubase? Can it be done in Reaper? Because so far the only way I found to overcome this is by cutting the clip and moving it until that point, but it's too much of a hassle to do it with every chord...Any thoughts on this?
hi, is it possible to get more that 16 toolbars? i seen somewhere someone did long time ago and im unable to recall it, couldn't find relatable on google too. help me
Hey! As far as I know, no. There are a couple of workarounds:
-The same toolbar can have as many actions as you want, so one method is to just populate the hell out of one of your toolbars.
-You can import and export toolbars, so another way would be to make 16, save them by exporting them somewhere. Then you replace them with more toolbars, save those, and then you just import and export between them! Like your toolbars 10-16 could be for music, then you load another set for film :)
-You can just have multiple reaper installs or config files. Not as easy to quickly swap them out, but could be viable :)
@@IDDQDSound wow, thank you sir. actually your contextual toolbar video helped me very much. thanks again..
How do you enter a rest in the step sequencer?
Step sequencer tutorial coming very soon, but one way is to press left and right arrow key!
Where can I find the extra icons?
Hey Bruno! I found all of them in the REAPER Stash! Don't remember exactly where but lmk if you couldn't find them and I can email them to you! If you are on Facebook or our Discord server message me there!
I'd like to join the Discord. Where's the link?
@@BrunoNeureiter Here ya go: discord.gg/YwQESKpBfE
There is no midi configuration in that toolbar folder on your site.
Thanks for letting me know, I'll have a look and post an update :)
Thanks for sharing, great tuts. It´s obvious you are way above normal in the gray matter area.
The 13:05 section is very appealing, although I cannot seem to find it anywhere, I have tried searching for Script:Archie_MidiEditor;ShowInstrument.lua in my actions list, your blog and I forget where else, but to no avail. Can you please enlighten my newbie butt.
Thanks, you are awsomely gifted.
Take care
P.D.
Wish I knew how to send you a video of what problems I have encountered in floating the FX at the midi editor. If the fx is loaded at the main track it works, but if I load fx in each midi item it does not.
Can I send you a quick video somehow, by whatsapp or mail or ??
Hi! Do you have ReaPack? If you do, copy this link to Extensions>ReaPack>Import Repositories... and hit okay:
github.com/ArchieScript/Archie_ReaScripts/raw/master/index.xml
Make sure you are in the MIDI Editor section of the action list (From the top right you can select which section you are in) to see the action :)
I will try again, I think I already did that and now what happens is that when I click on the fx icon in my midi editor custom tool bar what opens up is the fx if it was loaded at the track header, but if I loaded an fx from a midi item it will not show up. Sure would like to send you a small video that I captured showing what happens. Never the less I will do what you say to try it out, but I think it´s the same script I have alraedy run. Thanks a bunch for replying, I know you must be busy as hell to take the time.
Well that link just added 869 archie reascripts to my reaper and it still doesn´t work, just like before, only if the fx was loaded at the track head. Man sure would like to send ya a video so you can see what I mean.
I have my own tools with icons painted by me! drive.google.com/file/d/1x-ukpQs19_6LDBFxJrsxp5i1o_50HxJW/view?usp=sharing
Sorry I saw this so late Anna! They look great! Do you have a REAPER stash link?
