Mr Adam you are making very high quality video but we are in initial stage here we are not able to digest your given knowledge on reaper hence i request you to please help us by disseminating the knowledge following
In Davinci Resolve, Backspace is delete, and delete is ripple delete. So confusing. I love that Reaper gives the option of changing commands. But is there a way to export your Reaper to another device? My laptop is slowly grinding to a halt, and I've been a bit afraid to customize the keystrokes and interface too much, as I expect I'll get a new computer sometime relatively soon.
You can install Reaper as a Portable install, and carry the whole thing in a folder.. I do it and works perfect, you can even put it on a pendrive and use in other places
Export your configuration file. On the new system you'll have to change the locations of the folders/drives for saving, rendering, searching for VST and etc.
Ive used OB gear with reaper. A plugin is used for routing. Very powerful and intuitive. typical drag n drop to change order of OBG in track / group, buss, aux
Yeah the ReaInsert plugin is amazing, it means outboard hardware can be used on the fly with in and out level matching, inbuilt perfect delay compensation and even inline midi in/out
@@adamsteelproducer yes I’m strongly considering reaper and I will take your course if I do. I have a lot of external hardware and external hardware on master bus which I feed to a print track. I have 16 in and out and additional 16 seat. I’m hoping I can set the I/o the same way on reaper. That would be perfect
Hi Adam, new subscriber here. I have a question I need serious help with. I’m using Reaper and I use a lot of outboard gear when mixing: I have grouped outs running into a summing mixer, into my mix buss chain, and back into Reaper. Problem is I don’t know how to monitor only what’s coming back in from my mix buss. I get my mix sounding good, and then print it back into Reaper and it sounds completely different; when it prints/records the final 2 track I’m hearing doubling and volume raised (probably because of monitoring 2 feeds at once during the print), but just while listening during the print, not after it recorded. I’ve tried messing around with all the routing and pre/post fader but I have no idea how to only monitor what’s coming back in from my mix buss during a mix session. Very frustrating because it’s just wasting time hearing something that won’t make the final print. The outboard chain is working because I can make tweaks while mixing/printing and they translate (even did outboard automation on a print to be sure), but everything sounds different before I arm the Mix Buss track for final print, then doubles while it’s armed, and prints something that sounds different from the original mix before arming to record the final 2 track. Please help... Thanks and I appreciate you brother!
Sounds to me like you need to look at your tracks and the “master out”. In each group track’s IO, make sure master output is disabled so that you only send it to the outboard gear and not directly to the monitors- then you can have the new processed chain come back on a track with monitoring enabled. That way you can hear changes in real time, and once the print is done you can then solo that track with no record enabled, and it should be identical. Hope this helps!
To summarize, I can’t figure out how to disengage monitoring of the Sends that go out to my outboard gear (I think that’s the problem?). When I engage ‘Record Monitoring: ON’ while armed, I get the doubles. But I can control all the outboard gear and hear it affecting the mix before I click on ‘Record Monitoring: ON’ for the final print... But when it prints back it sounds completely different, but still includes my outboard because I did an automation print to test. It’s a different mix before I engage the monitoring for the print track, then it doubles while armed with monitoring for printing, and then prints out completely different from both (doesn’t print doubled, just way different). I’m so confused and don’t know how to figure this out. It’s probably super easy, but sooo frustrating. I missed out on sending my “Chelsea” mix because of this, and someone selling me broken cables (didn’t realize until after setting up my patchbay a couple days ago 😤). Sorry for the long messages, but I’ve tried messing with Record Monitoring and Pre/Post Faders to my groups/sends and can’t figure it out...Again, thank you, and I hope you can help me!! Peace!
Hop Pole Studios Sorry, my phone didn’t update with your responses while I typed my second message. Thanks for the quick responses and I’ll read them right meow!!
Hop Pole Studios Yeah I already did all that bro. Nothing is going to the master, they’re all going to sends and all tracks have the ‘Master Send’ unclicked/disabled. And all my sends are going directly to Hardware Outputs. Only thing engaging to the “MASTER” channel is my Mix Buss track I created that has my analog Ins to print my final 2 track.

Peace!
Like I said, open up the IO routing on each group and un-tick “master”. That should stop you hearing the pre-outboard version
Your first “trick” can be accomplished literally when using latch write... it grabs any parameter you change while its in latch mode.
You’ve missed the point entirely- you can link several automation parameters and have them move based on a single move of one parameter
Apologizes if this sounds harm - I feels like it's Wheatly from Portal 2 guiding me how to mix XD
thanks for tricks anyway
nice
Linkable effects. Nice!
Very Nice! - I wish more people would make cool Reaper vids- Anyone have ClearView Extended yet? I donated and got the package...I like to support Reaper People! - and the Magic-Mushrooms and Deep Space are cool sometimes. .heh- if you like themes-
Did he just do a massive wink to audience at 2 seconds ???
I think it was supposed to be a nod of the head and came out as some one-sided twitch!
@@adamsteelproducer I can't stop watching it's hypnotic !!
Maybe it was some subliminal control method....... 😜
@@adamsteelproducer I'm searching for it next broadcast !

I had no idea that James McAvoy makes music and even better, uses REAPER!
I’ve heard that before! Very strange but I’ll take it 😅
@@adamsteelproducer A bit in the looks and more so in your voice. I used to get Charlie Sheen, which didn't bother me so much until he went bat shit crazy. Nice job on the video, BTW.
Let's hope you sell 10,000+ courses.
Let’s hope! I’ll retire to my private island. Or buy all the audio gear and be broke again.
Guess which one will happen first.... 😆
Sadly, Your video is too blurry for me, to actually see what you are doing. Love the info, but for that.
Very good but could you please refrain from using hyperbole? It really undermines your message. Tx
I’m just being myself, and the message is that Reaper is good and there are things I like about it. Hyperbole is part of me, so sorry if it’s not working for you.
@@adamsteelproducer be sure to keep up with the hyperbole! I like it. Speaks of artistic expressiveness needed in music. Kind of gating the noise out of the talk and emphasizing on and amping what is important.
@@adamsteelproducer Hyperbole is like the loudness wars: maxing out on compression leaves no room for dynamics and therefore impact is lost. Believe me, I wouldn't have made the observation if I didn't respect the value of your content. That's all.
Video titles with numbers in them are getting very annoying. So many youtubers are making list videos!
But it’s some things that I like, and the number happens to be five. What’s wrong with that? And since it’s uncharacteristic for me, what’s the issue? It’s not like I’m pumping out a load of top 10 videos and nothing else

Too many ads. Not watching any more of this channel.
Very useful tips mate. Thanks!
