Seems that Dr. Ellis has a very firm grasp of the whole situation.
He'll make a fine Minister of Health.

Bottom line. This government has failed Canadians massively. A change is needed ASAP. I hope Trudeau and Singh have a health issue, where they have to wait 16 hrs in a waiting room

Parliamentarians have a private healthcare system. They don't wait in lines.

Well said Dr. Ellis. Notice how intelligent, eloquent, stable and calm the conservatives are when speaking. I am yet to see a Liberal or NDP speak intelligently.

The five principles of the Canada Health Act (1984) are 1-publc administration, 2- comprehensiveness, 3- universality, 4- portability and 5- accessibility. We are sadly lackng on most of these.

My husband is on two waiting lists for one surgery. Apparently only two doctors can do it in Ontario. He was told...it could take years for surgery. Yet it is an important, possible life saving surgery. Yet here we are...waiting...hoping he stays stable and not go back to not being able to eat or drink anything for weeks, and only begging to be giving intravenous.

Glad to hear a physician advocate for access to primary care for ALL. This is more important than pharmacare, or dental care, which I consider "add ons" , nice to have, but not essential. People are falling through the cracks, not being diagnosed timely for serious health issues (ie cancers). My daughter's friend (both age 40) was recently diagnosed with STAGE 4 colon cancer. She had been to walk in clinics and the ER with symptoms (no primary care doctor) . I'm sure most people have anecdotal stories like this. If the government is intent on mantaining high levels of immigration, the numbers of those not accessing primary care will rise from 1/5 (6.5 Million today) to 1/4 to 1/3, etc. This is NOT "universal" healthcare, as I thought was the main goal of the CHA. Or we are already on a "two tiered" system, where some get face-to-face access to primary care, others get virtual care, or a walk-in clinic, ER? Move to a distant city in your province, or another province, your current primary care access evaporates, and you go on a waiting list at your new location. Why is the federal government not speaking out on violations of the CHA? This is not acceptable, and should be a high ranking election issue.

Perhaps you don't understand what 'universal' means? The Liberal-NDP are all about Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity. As in Freeland's last budget where she made reference of fairness by taxing the wealthy's and small business owners more from their capital gains? It means universally bad healthcare for anyone without the means to go out of country for their medical treatments.

I have an unnamed neurological disease. Within 8 months, I have list the ability to walk. I am seeing a specialist but not receiving any help, any physio, any pain relief or any ideas. I have been told that a quick diagnosis and fast physio is my goal. Just how am I to do that?

With the rigid Standard of Care restrictions, we might as well have computerized AI doctors, because all they do is plug in readings and the system spits out the treatment which 99% of the time is either pharmaceutical or surgical. And doctors risk their license if they veer from the SoC.

Who can see a specialist in 6 months? 🤔 I've been waiting 19 months for a CT scan ordered by a primary care physician

I'm a retired veteran and the pain that I went through with cancer on my shoulder I contacted the VA and they said they have no more doctors they're at the VAS close that's OK it's close so we're all those doctors called well they went to other hospitals so the veterans affairs is close nobody can help me the main hospital can help me and I'll let you have cancer decided to decide a gulp on my shoulder all I asked for was someone to help me I had a paper cup on top of that wound tape down a Tim Horton's cup so that I could not deal with the pain it was so bad I finally found a private entity in Vaughn Ontario that Ashley helped me through my brother and I paid nothing for it they're They're clinic that is paid for by Ohio did 10 times more than the hospitals and the clinics that are actually running on the streets for the government start privatizing and allowing people to go to other clinics that are paid by Ohio to do their job because those clinics do way better than the government does in hospitals it's not your fault doc but it is what it is

Glad you posted your story, and I don't think you are alone. There is the number of persons dying while on a waiting list (17K-30K?). There are those (like you) with cancer and the pain associated with it, but accessing care outside of the public system (Ohio?). There are those with late disease diagnoses, there are likely those that may be accessing MAID due to intractible pain. And others?
