My route is similar...CNA > BSN > MSN in Nursing Education but I am now researching FNP certification programs vs DNP. Can you provide any comments about this?
Great video as always. I'm currently in LVN school and also hold a non-Nursing Bachelor's degree. My plan was to go the direct entry level MSN route after graduating from LVN school next year, but after this info, I'll go the direct entry DNP route while I gain experience working as a nurse. I always thought it was a bit odd that all you need for medical school are the prerequisites (some schools require some shadow/volunteer experience), but to become a DNP you had to go through so many hoops. Glad to know that's no longer the case.
@@LifeofaPsychNP Thank you got the same info, I’m in the similar situation. Can you recommend some schools for direct entry DNP-NP program ? Online method is also ok

So just to clarify say for example I have a degree in psychology or business my undergraduate. I can take that degree and go straight into an msn Degree program without having a run degree ? So then how would I study for the nclex without going to school for it ?
Thank you for your wonderful video! I wanna ask you a few questions if you don't mind me asking. 1. Do I need to get a BSN degree to work as a nurse (either RN or NP) though I have an MSN/DNP degree? I mean, is it recommended? I'm wondering if it is common and okay to work as a nurse without a BSN degree when I have an MSN/DNP. 2. Is there any chance that I can apply for the direct entry MSN/DNP program when I already graduated but haven't finished the prerequisite courses? I wonder if I can finish the prerequisite courses in a community college and then apply for the program. 3. Do I have to choose the specialty when I start the direct entry MSN/DNP program?
Hello! Aspiring DNP Midwife here!! I wanted to know would you would recommend going straight into NP or DNP programs after getting your RN or working first and getting bedside experience and then going back to school??
See these seem so long to me.. I ended up taking a break from school when I was younger and then had my son so now I’m back trying to get to my goal but I’m not trying to be 40 by the time I get there lol. From what I’ve been told I’m in this ADN program where if I continue with my 4.0 GPA and pass my exam I can go into this program CEP where pretty much I get my BSN in one semester So essentially I would get my ADN and BSN at the same time. And my program is only 12-16 months long and adding the BSN it adds 3 months on so for me I would have graduated in a year but I will be adding the BSN so 15 months all together with my BSN. I have been talking to the school where I’ll be getting my MSN specializing in pediatric nurse practitioner it’s 18months long and I have the option of either taking the extra courses for my DNP at the same time or I can sit for the NP boards and then take my DNP courses and that would take 6 months so all together it’s like 4-5 years instead of the 9-10 years most people talk about
Am I crazy for not wanting a nursing degree? my thinking is LVN to RN then finish up what classes are needed to get into a CSU get BS in biology or something useful then look into PA or direct entry program and if I get in a NP program I'm an RN already and if I can't make it I have an RN still and a degree. I have no interest in management or a role with more responsibility and the same scope of practice
If you already have a bachelor’s in something else, accelerated BSN programs are an option. You can start nursing in about 1-1.5 years and, you’ll have an income to pay to further your education if taking out a massive amount of loans is not something you want. Current nurses will tell you how important experience is before becoming a practitioner.
