4-2-1 or 4-1?! There is some slightly incorrect information when I’m explaining the header design. This particular header is a 4-2-1 with a one piece design versus the old model 2 piece style 4-2-1. There is ALSO a 4-1 design that wasn’t available at the time I ordered this one. I hate putting out incorrect information so just wanted to clear it up that this is a traditional 4-2-1. I guess my eyes and brain just weren’t working that day. Regardless, enjoy the video!
You should look into a goautoworks turbo kit for the D-series! Cheaper than a swap and FANTASTIC quality, I personally have a 98 ex sedan, as a college kid, this is gonna be the way I go!

The d series can make alot of power with just pistons rods and eBay turbo kit. No where have I found that cheap k series swap that was cheaper than building a d series and turboing it. Once done with the swap you still have to get turbo and hondata or something equivalent to program the tune so cost effective to not swap if all your looking for is about 500 hp.d series have been pushed to 900+ hp and low 9s and high 8s. Now if your looking for a maximum hp na engine and not on a budget then yea swapping makes sense. But if your looking for big power on budget build the d
Yess!, D16Y8 all day! Thanks man for showing Love on the d series, you’re pretty much the only guy on UA-cam with a Honda stock motor on your ek with bolt ons the rest pretty much have b swaps lol

Im irish. And I recently bought a coupe exactly like this same colour and everything and it says USA on the block and chassis plate 🤣So weird cause 99% of civics here are japanese.
Respect to all the D-Series. Keep em on the road! My 1st Honda was a 93 Vx Hatchback with the 1.5 SOHC Vtec-E (the E stands for Economy) it made 92hp, compared to the 1.5 non Vtec that made 102hp. But +50mpg!!! I currently own a 89 Dx CRX, It was stock 1.5 DPFI when I got it. Over the last 8 years it's gone from DPFI to MPFI, Then Mini-Me SOHC Vtec head, Then DOHC B17a.

I've been dyno tuning Honda's for 11 years. The intake and DC sports headed are what I recommend everyone for light NA mods. I've got a red ek coupe ex thati just bought back. It was the first Honda I ever drove. Since I have access to my dynos I'm hoping to do before and after dyno runs of every mod from stuck to However far I take it. (my coupe is red too ;) )
Glad I subscribed and watched this whole thing. I have a 99 Honda Civic DX hatchback that I’ve been wanting to mod and your videos are seriously informative!! Keep em comin

I will be installing new 4-2-1 headers with SRS catback exhaust next week in my prelude and I am glad that it has a lot of space in front of engine so I don't scratch them
That's correct, that header gives high-end and a 4-2-1 gives better low and maybe even into mid-range. I plan on putting the DC Sports 4-2-1 on my Civic in the near future if you want to see how that works out.
Just rewatched the whole series of red and white honda on my Canada Day weekend 2022. Now gonna rewatched the blue crz for the 4th of July for you Red White and Blue friends.

Don’t listen to the haters Antony. True Honda enthusiasts appreciate the D series it’s such a simple yet awesome platform and not many people realize how cool they are. We all love the civic content keep it coming
It's cheaper to boost the D series than to swap it. I've looked. A forged bottom end is $500 WITH pistons from Speedfactory and you're going to want to use the no notch forged con rods. By the time you swap it, boost it and all, you would have spent K series money. A turbo D is the same price as an NA LS-VTEC on high compression.
I've got a 92 Si that I added that same 4-2-1 one piece DC Sports header to, did about 2 years ago. My experience putting it on was almost identical to yours, down to the scratches. Totally worth it, though. More response and pull. Also it weighs nearly 25lbs less than the stock cast iron manifold and I swear the front end feels a little more responsive in turns. D series engines are a great combination of performance and efficiency and I have no desire to swap mine, it's just too good as it is.
I understand what you're doing here, but the ONLY way that I could make my single cam any fun was to boost it, and then it was alot of fun. It didn't make much power on the stock internals, but it was reliable, it was fairly fast (it would beat modified WRXs and Mazdaspeed 3s at the strip), and the turbo made it so much more enjoyable to daily drive. I eventually swapped in a fully built LSVTEC and it currently makes 612 whp. My Civic is a 1997 EJ8 coupe.
Removing cat will definitely give it that little push it needs to make it a night and day difference but it will throw check engine light on stock ecu. I think vtec cracks good on your motor due to it being very healthy. Usually more work out motors don’t have that aggressive of a crossover. But K is always the way.
Sounds awesome! Reminds me of the more typical bseries vtec sound that the dseries vtec is usually missing, i know bseries will still crack harder but this sounds so much better
Some people always say that M18 Milwaukee impact is too heavy but they don't realize that it'll never let them down when they want something done. I love mine as well. The M12 ratchet is great too for smaller areas and long bolts. Whatever you do with the engine, take your time as you said you already have a fast car haha.
@@ALLDAYANTHONY The thing is I live in California right now. Can't really do what I want with the civic. Engine wise. And its a automatic sedan, with the d16y7. What a lot of these guys don’t get is a stainless steel header is very thin compared to a manifold AND they don’t have a heat shield. Curious with all the mods. How many miles on car and did you change the timing belt? Mine has 159k miles and not sure it's been changed. I want to put all the bolt ons like you did but should I worry about belt first? I heard it's a lot of work.
@@ALLDAYANTHONY man love your vids. My 2k civic has same stuff you have. Even getting the truhart coilovers and other suspension parts. Thanks for replying right away. started watching cuz i have a stock ek auto, yes auto because the gf drives it, but im gonna throw on some stuff and put a roof rack on for traveling so your vids are good to watch for the little things
I also have a JDM J32A six speed manual swapped CG1 Accord with a GT3582 turbo running on an AEM Series II 30-6051 standalone and it pulls SO hard for such a big car. It's only running about 10 psi, but it's enough to make close to or slightly more than 500 whp.
imo the b-series is a great engine platform, especially for vtec all motor builds.. But a swap would for sure make this thing fly. Oh btw don't listen to 7:34 with your eyes closed.

That’s a score!
Got a D15B in my '99 EX, thanks for the tutorial.
No problem! Should be the same install
Curious with all the mods. How many miles on car and did you change the timing belt? Mine has 159k miles and not sure it's been changed. I want to put all the bolt ons like you did but should I worry about belt first? I heard it's a lot of work.
Belt was changed on my car at 120k. If you don’t know it it’s been done I Would recommend it for sure
@@ALLDAYANTHONY man love your vids. My 2k civic has same stuff you have. Even getting the truhart coilovers and other suspension parts. Thanks for replying right away. Now I'll have to look for some videos to diy. I'm sure the mech shop will charge me a lot. Apparently I should change the water pump and tensioner and all the belts when I do the timing belt.
When you go to swap the motor. I'd happily will buy the D16 and pay shipping. i own a crx and only want an OEM plus setup. motors are scarce now.
started watching cuz i have a stock ek auto, yes auto because the gf drives it, but im gonna throw on some stuff and put a roof rack on for traveling so your vids are good to watch for the little things
I love the d series content cause not all people can afford an engine swap 😂
Oh yeahhhh baby can’t wait to hear it !
It sounds great!
Hell yeah!
it sounds more free! and definetively its noticeable even on video.
I love dat front DC sport struct bar, its wat I was gonna put on my em1 till I sold da car due to rust.
These videos make me happy
Thanks for coming to watch!
imo the b-series is a great engine platform, especially for vtec all motor builds.. But a swap would for sure make this thing fly.
Oh btw don't listen to 7:34 with your eyes closed.
Just stumbled across your channel, new sub, excited to watch previous videos
hey man love the content and the ride quick question if i was to do this install dont i need a tune? wont the check engine light turn on? sorry if it’s a dumb question lol
Have the dc raceheaders on my rsx with the Hks Hi-power exhaust and man it makes a difference
