I'm a huge fan of the original Hyperdrive so have been really looking forward to this updated version. This though... this just sounds like a broken fuzz pedal. What happened?!
The whole new big double pedal box range has this kind of blurry fuzzy tone sadly. This version has a much wider range of distortion. The previous you could really tighten and distort a small band. A bit of a shame really especially for how expensive these are I don't see them taking off sadly. Previous Lomenzo pedal was incredible and really ahead of the curve tonally/options wise.
James LoMenzo is one of my favourite bassists and I’ve owned the Hyperdrive for 13 years. This Mega Drive does not sound great to my ears. Very “fuzzy” distortion. Unimpressive. I’ll continue to enjoy my original Hyperdrive. Ashdown got that pedal right! (Good interview and demo though)
Seems like the David Ellefson reference at the start of interview was totally lost on PMTV
When was this filmed? Its really hard to find this on yt
