So the whiiiiiiine I heard in the beginning of the demo came from the power supply battery that I used, as soon as I took it away and plugged it in to a regular 9V wall adapter it was gone. POOF!
The whine is in the entire video but it’s higher pitched later on so most people probably can’t hear it but for those of us that can it’s like an annoying dog whistle haha
I love my Angry Swede. I highly recommend using it as a boost. Turn the dist all the way down, level all the way up or close to it, lows at noon, and highs to taste. Gives you a nice juicy tone. Also, it sounds best BEFORE a TubeScreamer-type pedal if you want to use two boosts at once.
I just built my 1st pedalboard, which is a poor man version of this. Used Boss GT1 $150 Used Boss OD200 $200 New Nux Atlantic $150 New Nux Loop Core Stereo $120 New Monoprice Tuner $25 Cables, PSU, Board, Bag $150 Super happy with the results. GT1 has usb connectivity, so it can be used as a PC interface also.
After 7 months or so, how are you liking that pedal? I’ve been plugging my pedalboard straight into the neural dsp Morgan sw50r plug-in. And using distortion pedals as “different amps”. I’m really loving the results. Trying to trade an amp for a real Morgan. My pedals are a Friedman be od deluxe, empress heavy, and the MXR 5150 pedal. All sound great. Looking to add some more.
@wheresallthezombies It still sounds great. I run both the SLO and the TS-9 through the effects loop of a Boss NS-2 to cut the noise down. I'm running a somewhat similar set up. I have a Boss Katana with a "Dumble Clean" setting and run the distortion pedals into the front of the amp as "different amps" as you said. The SLO does great with classic metal. I'm thinking about getting the Friedman BE-OD or a Revv G3 and running them in the same set up.
The problem is that without the Chug pedal you are missing a preamp, so the clean sound is the DI with the IR, you should engage a clean preamp inside the Mooer P2
"Ola plugging his own shit" well this IS Ola's channel, if people don't like you plugging your own brands they can go somewhere else. You've busted your ass to make your businesses a success and have earned the right to plug your own shit on your own channel...the haters can suck it. Keep on doing what ya do brother!
There’s cheaper way for impulse response, there’s the “Sonicake Sonic IR” which has also XLR out (using as DI) and 11 factory IR (you can upload to it your IR instead). Other option is to use “Cube Baby” which is a pocket multieffect with IR, in this case you can actually do some presets of different IR’s (it has 3 pedals for store different settings). The both costs about 50€.
Thanks for this man, this is exactly the info I was looking for right now. I've been using a movall reverb/trem and a Diezel vh-4 pedal which gets me most of the aay there but also has no subtlety whatsoever... Might have to save up for a chug and a dark sun!
Fck! I was thinking of this pedal setup (Dark Sun + Solar Chug) last year and then I just recently saw this video...Very nice Ola! You're a blessing to us metal guitarists! Btw, I bought Solar S2.6W + Chug pedal last year. You also noticed me in your live stream. Thank you so much!
You should actually try the HoTone Ampero Mini. It's very small and super capable. I use it on my pedal board strictly for amp, cab and room reverb. It's about 200€ and does the job superb. It's a life hack for guitarists. If not it must be the smallest, most capable backup gear you can own. The Ampero II Stomp sound even better but that is 500€ purchase. Also, is the CHUG usable from everything from hard rock to metal? I kinda hear that it would be plausible due to the character of it! What you say Ola? Great Vid as always!
I love yoyr Bolt Thrower shirt. I made a playlist of all their albums and would have it running in the background for all my Organic Chem, calculus, A&P, Bioinformatics, and Cellular Biology homework
A pedalboard is a cool thing, if you know that there will be a good amplifier that you can play with, for me it’s better to use a kemper powerhead and feel good on any stage, because your sound is always with you
I got an EH Metal Muff WITH TOP BOOST and run it through a fat Orange amp and cab (I never use the top boost). From early Slayer to crunchy Nasum (Shift) this combo can do almost everything.
Hello Ola! Interesting tone! Could i ask you something? How to make same tone without harshy hi end? Cose when i make treble down i get dark and "empty", non agressive tone...😅
Using the Mooer as an IR is a great idea! I recently switched from a boss gt1000 core to a tonex and was wondering how to route into my power amp and into a mixer for my drummers in ear. I have a Mooer Prime P1 just laying around so I’m going to give that a try. I can’t load my own IRs on the P1 but it will get the job done. Thanks for the idea!
How is the ToneX versus the Boss GT1000 Core. I've been really enjoying mine after finding good IRs. Also have you tried using the GT1000 as a multi-effects pedal into the ToneX by turning off the amp and cabs? I thought of getting a ToneX pedal and using it on the effects loop or just straight into the Boss. Just curious if those might work well
@@CoolGuyAtlas I only used the gt1000 4 cable method with a preamp. Never really fell in love with any of the boss amp sims. I did try and use the boss with the tonex but decided to simplify my rig as much as possible. The best things about the gt1000 are the routing options, the assignment matrix and the on/off functionality of the foot switches. It was also the most difficult piece of equipment to figure out that I have owned. I have owned the hx stomp, quad cortex and gt1000 core and, in my opinion, the boss overall was the best value. It comes with a steep learning curve though. As for the Tonex, I am still trying to dial it in. I’m definitely enjoying trying all of the amp captures available. I haven’t had enough time with it in a full band setting to really decide if it’s going to work for me. If it doesn’t then it’s off to Fractal I go!
Honestly, if Dime was alive, I think he’d love a Chug pedal and a Seymour Duncan Power Stage. It’s so much cleaner than his old rig and has a similar SS grind to it.
Hey Ola, will Solar ever have an offset guitar? I'd love to see something vaguely Jaguar or Mustang shaped from you guys, even if it's not a 24" scale.
Because the ugliness and filth of the hm2 has been the sound of some iconic albums in the 90s, while the metal zone is just the the poor man's high gain amp. Also information wasn't there and many used the metal zone as a boost for already high gain amps instead of a preamp, and for that it sucks.

Love that the angry swede has a blend knob, been on my board since the day I got it. Great pedal rig Ola 🤘
The Dark Sun is no joke, fantastic streamlined delay/reverb pedal.
that is one of the best looking solars! awesome pedalboard as well!
I just built my 1st pedalboard, which is a poor man version of this.

Used Boss OD200 $200

Scored a Dark Sun on clearance from my local music shoppe, and it now has a permanent home on my pedalboard.
Man... 2018 was already 6 years ago! How fast time flies!

If a power amp, like a powerstage 170 was used would it sound like @ 4:37 without the impulse? response?
Pantera Funkos in the back. Those are cool.

still really debating on getting that prime p2 as a new live rig. can't make up my mind between the P2 and the Ampero 2 stomp
I say go with the empero stomp 2. It has more amps, cabs, and it has an effects loop
