I'm super late to the game but your video solved one annoying issue I personally have with my S1H & The RS2. and that's the quick release plate that comes with the RS2. It slips periodically causing the camera to twist on the RS2. So now i'm getting the plate. thank you!
Peter - There is a solution to this HIDDEN release button!! Remove the 4 screws that hold the upper mounting plate to the lower (longer) mounting plate and then rotate the upper one by 180 degrees. Now your lock will face the BACK of your camera instead of under your lens. You must also remove those 2 little silver screws on top so that you'll be able to side your camera on from either direction, critical if you're using a gimbal. Just use the small end of the included Allen wrench. Just be sure to use the locking mechanism's rotating feature to securely lock your camera now that the lock button is more accessible. This is a great unit and if you're using it to replace the similar parts on the Weebill-S you'll be pleased to know that it weighs 50 grams less!
I have this base plate and I love it, so thanks for the Video. I have one question which is around the focus puller that comes in the RS3 box. I can't seem to find a way to add the bar and focus puller whilst using the F38 plate/connector. I will re-watch your Video and try to pause it and see how you have managed it, as I can see it clearly on your Gimbal. thanks Peter great Video !
@@motoed I have now purchased this and can confirm they are NOT compatible. But honestly this system is so worth it! I got their backpack clip and the gimbal attachment
Thank you to show us this unbelievable product! I’m still don’t understand just one thing. Why we should buy the gimbal plate + quick release if we already have the gimbal plate? If we lose the gimbal plate it is very useful otherwise no.
Peter: At 4:36 you said there is no difference in between having the base plate + F38 and having the dedicated F38 plate. Is it also the same in terms of height ? Because I noticed that you didn't have the lens support on, is it possible to put it on or the camera is too high with both systems ? I am considering switching from the PGYTECH Quick Release to the the Falcam because of the cage, the F22 capabilities, the top handle that can double as a side handle or underslung mode for RS3 etc But it's quite an investment to switch the whole eco system and I don't find the RS3 super stable so I always put the lens support usually. Thank you 🙏✨
Greetings. I use one of these RRS B2-LLR II lever clamp on my tripod and an L-Bracket on my camera when shooting architecture. Will that clamp or one of the smaller ones, 50mm and 60mm, work on the Weebill S, allowing me to switch from shooting stills on tripod to video on the Weebill S?
Just one quick question, does this plate works on Manfrotto video head 500ah? Cause if it does work then is really convenient for me to switch in between weebill S and tripod when filming weddings
@@PeterMakholm perhaps I just got a bad plate? I should make a video and post; because I’m getting micro-vibrations when I use this system and when I grab the camera and move it when the gimbal is in locked position and I actually wiggle it a bit.
Hello Peter, apology as i may have miss view that in the video - i noticed it is a smallrig baseplate instead of the original baseplate from DJI RSC2? I will not be able to use the DJI original base plate together with the Ulanzi Falcam F38 only right?
@@PeterMakholm Hello peter, thank you so much for the prompt response. Greatly appreciate. Oh as original plate (one end is flat while the other end has the mount for the plate) Do you mean we can use the flat side to put the ulanzi plate?
hey peter! Thanks for the video. After the last video about F38 i ordered two of the quick release plates. These are definitely the best I've used in so far. Unfortunately I didn't quite understand why you only recommend the baseplate for Weebill S without FollowFocus ...? to adjust you can move the FollowFocus on the rod and you can also adjust the basplate itself. I am confused ... 😅
That’s beacuse, At some points the mounting rod of the followfocus will be in the way depending of the size of your lens. and there for you will have to move the camera forward to get past the mounting point.
With the f38 baseplate mounted on my weebil 3e i find it impossible to get the perfect balance as the camera now sits a fair bit higher causing it to tip back or forward with the slightest touch. It seems to balance ok once the gimbal is powered on. Did you encounter this?

Hi Peter! Great video - im looking for the older version, where the camera arca plate mounts from the back or front, rather than from the side. Do you know where I can buy it? Thank you. From William, DK
Hi Peter, I already own the F38 quick releases and use them with my Weebill S and when putting my A7III on my tripod, as per your recommendation. I am now planning to flush out my handheld rig by adding the Smallrig cage to my A7III, a basic 15mm rail system, top and side handles, and then the new Smallrig mini matte box. My question is do you think the F38 plates mounted to the bottom of my rail system would be able to take the weight reliably when say placed on a tripod? Ulanzi quote them as being able to handle up to 15KG of weight, much more than my rig would come to, but I wonder if you think this holds true?
My FX3 balances perfectly on my Weebill S.....right up until I try to use an F38 QR. Raising the height of the camera from the mounting plate of the gimbal seems to prevent me from balancing it. Given that I know how to balance the setup well without the F38, I don't think I am doing anything wrong when trying to balance it with the F38. Maybe you have a tip for this situation?
I've been experiencing nothing but issues on my weebil s since using a quick release plate for my a7siii, never realized that this could be causing it. I have been getting a bunch of horizontal wobbles with it, did you experience the same thing?
