I'm loving this series. As an overweight middle-aged guy coming back into Shotokan from the start (I grade next Monday for my 2nd yellow stripe! woot!) these training videos are excellent. For those of us who can't hang from anything for those leg raises, lie flat on your back on the floor and do those leg raises...it's not AS good...but it gets the job done :)
Turkish getups have too long of a rest period and are overrated... And the suitcase carry is decent... But instead go with a Farmers carry with a kettlebell... Weight plate or dumbbell... And make it to where it challenges you... Doing it with just one arm at a time with weight might build bulk in your obliques too much😊
@@jeetkunedophysiologymore4221 Turkish get ups are good for mobility as well. I chose the suitcase carry over the farmers carry for the offset load, the point is that you have to stabilise the hip position and not allow it to pull the body over. Farmers carry is good but for a different reason. And in terms of adding bulk to the obliques, that’s possible but this is for martial artists who want to build a stronger midsection, aesthetics are not a consideration.
Not just a sensei, but also a gym bro. respect!
