Mine and my dad's hero. Went to Bruce and Brandon's grave in Seattle to pay respects and it was emotional. Just introduced my four year old daughter to this video and have signed her up for lessons, very proud moment for me. Just shows that Bruce went beyond life. I am a 40 year old mancunian woman, but Bruce is like family, that was the power of his reach

Really a beautiful scene of cinema, as well as great martial arts! Despite slowing the kick it is visible that the opponent launch itself back (obviously) but still the power transmitted was considerable.
But the beginning of the fight is truly fantastic. It is pure wing chun, designed by Bruce for sure, that explained to its opponent how to do the packsao punch drill. The best in any movie and not fictional too!

Bruce was poetry in motion and ahead of his time in terms of
athletic performance and fighting tactics. He inspired an infinite
many that came after him. Give some examples of things we
love today that wouldn't exist today if he hadn't lived. Bruce
was oblivious to many of the styles of the today. No fault of
his. The contemporaries just have learned more since him.

I’m in my 50’s. I first saw this movie when i was about 10 years old. Shortly after i enrolled in martial arts school. My sole purpose was to be like Bruce. When i entered tournaments, i imitated the sounds he made. To say he was my hero is such an understatement. My eyes are totally blurred with tears as i type these words. I am a traditional man and tears don’t come easily for me… unless i’m watching Bruce Lee in action. RIP legend!

Same here. Started in the playground. The movie enjoyed re-release all through 1978 and still it was standing room only especially when double billed with "Five Fingers of Death". I had the fortune of a group of us being at my instructor's house one day in 1977 rehearsing a demo routine for a tournament when we got into discussing this scene. Did Lee really possess that speed in the opening technique and how in the heck did Bob Wall time it the way he did. It got loud. We finally asked sensei what he thought. He was on the phone. He waved us off. After a few minutes, he hung up and made another call saying, " Whats happening Bob?" He handed us the phone and said, " Ask him yourself."

Bruce didn't allow his emotions take over him,he was in total control of his emotions until he landed the final blow which was the flying stomp. This fight is a good example of how important it is to control your emotions during a fight. Lee is face to face with the man responsible for his sister's death but he remains disciplined enough to stay focused and in control. Meanwhile O'Hara gets too angry when being on the losing end and he fights more and more carelessly as Lee easily counters his attacks.

It is neither a punch nor a grab. It is a movement called "check and backfist" in traditional Chinese martial arts. You dont grab but "check" the opponent's lead arm downward (keeping contact) then throw a backfist. Your opponent can block your backfist and return the same technique back to you. In Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story that very sequence I'm describing is performed by a young Bruce. This is a basic (often first) technique in what is called "trapping." Trapping is a range of fighting somewhere between punchung and grappling. Think of Wing Chun chi-sao.

The beautiful thing about watching Bruce fight is that there’s no wasted motion, every little subtle thing he does is impactful, from his stance to his strikes to the way he moves around in relation to his opponent to the various techniques he employs. It’s absolutely beautiful, like watching a master artist create his magnum opus right before your very eyes. And even tho the fights, in his movies were choreographed, if you know about Bruce’s non conformist philosophy of being like water, it’s on full display in all his fights; flowing, being formless while still being able to adopt a form, the ability to be cool and serene, and also to be forceful and intense. The man was an absolute GENIUS.
RIP Gung Fu Man! May your spirt endure forever! ❤

The actor Robert Wall who received that kick that sent him into the chairs, was an actual martial artist himself, trained by Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis and Gene LaBell. He said he told Bruce to make the kick real. Do not hold back. Robert suggested they do it that way to give it authenticity. Robert suffered two broken ribs. There was no wire to pull him back. That was the actual force of Bruce's kick. He was right, it did give the true feel.

@@TinkleShylo He easily beat him in the fight and let him live. O'Hara didn't want to accept he was beaten and tried fighting dirty with broken bottles. He therefore showed he had no decency to accept defeat and live, or to follow the code of martial arts which is why Lee killed him - albeit reluctantly.
Even Han gets upset by O'Haras actions and later states:"O'Hara's treachery has disgraced us."
Lee is bound by a code of honor and respect. Earlier in the film he visits his mother's grave before departing for Hong Kong: "You will not agree with what I'm going to do. It is contrary to all that you have taught me, and all that Su Lin believed. I must leave. Please try to find a way to forgive me."
Lee is a self-reflecting man and knows what he is about to do would make his own mother very disappointed and he therefore hopes she can forgive him. (To the Chinese the spirits of our dead ancestors or with us and dishonoring them is a great sin)

Asian women want to marry white women Ali definitely knew who Bruce Lee was, he was an extremely well known martial artist and actor. Bruce Lee doesn’t get enough credit for the contributions he lended to MMA and other mixed martial arts sports, He’s and icon and a very interesting man. When asked who would win, Bruce humbly said Ali, however when Ali fought inoki, his kicks were devastating. The true catch if the two were to fight is that Ali would punch harder, but Bruce knows way more diverse and unique fighting styles. A grapple would have crippled Ali!

Best scene ever. Gotta give credit to Bob Wall also because his timing was so good that it looked like he was actually being hit (and kicked). The last flying kick to the chest (that sent him flying into the spotters) actually resulted in an injury to one of the spotters. Looking at it closely, Bruce really does connect but it's more of a push (with his foot) expertly disguised as a kick. That's shows immense technique as well as power.
