I want to add something to this inspiring topic. Stretching doesnt only improves your high kicks but your karate in gwneral such as ease of movement and smooth transition between stances and it can improves your agility and strength too.
Thank you for your insight. It is honestly helpful. Being away from martial arts for 10yrs has taught me how much I’ve been neglecting so many basics. Getting back into it has definitely been a challenge. With your amazing vids and Naka sensei’s vids, it has been a life saver. I studied Shotokan first and transitioned into Shorin Ryu. We used to train with chi-shi a lot in Shorin Ryu, I wonder why Shotokan don’t train with them? But my point is, I believe you are correct, when you say weight training should be apart of our normal karate training.
@@davidbun4822 thanks I appreciate that! If only .. unfortunately educational type stuff like this doesn’t get pushed as much as controversy and that kind of thing.

BEST at home training.....conditioning your body (old school style) fists, feet, fingers, toes so you can ACTUALLY hit someone full force w/o breaking YOUR bones. In my opinion this is the most important thing that is almost universally (except in really old school okinawan styles like Uechiryu) left out of training now!
@@jkgardinerI thought so. Jonathan Mottram used to come over as well, our club was started in Jersey in 82 by Peter Dennis. I've trained with Ticky when I was 19. Scary guy 😮
PLEASE do the body weight session video! I do calisthenics at home and have dip and pushup bars. Would love to see one.

@@Mraymankarate absolutely 💯 and upper body stretching and mobility is just as important as lower body for the reasons you mentioned.
