Damn brother I’m a 36 year old owner op from ft Worth Texas and its good to see a young guy doing his thing with a great attitude keep up the good work you just earned a subscriber
$9,000 isn’t cheap but it’s also really really good in terms of a full on rebuild compared to CAT and Cummins. I love Cummins the most but I do know CAT rebuilds could be near if not $20,000 depending on where you go. So I’d say Detroit wins again. can’t wait to see some new videos soon. 😎
Wish it would only cost around $9,000 to do a rebuild for us. Here in our country it would be around $50,000 to rebuild a 12.7 Detroit like that. I have one that was rebuilt in 1999 at a cost of $33,000 prices have skyrocketed since then. Plus our fuel and all parts etc are way higher than you guys over in the USA, we get ripped off down under, trucking is getting tighter and harder every year here.
They could have just done an inframe rebuild , witch is quite common around my neck of the woods. To rebuild it fully you would have to pull the block out and send it to a machine shop.
Bro I knew your motor was toast from the first video of you buying this truck. You did a cold start and had 30lbs of oil pressure on a 12.7 Detroit. Gotta do some more research man, you should never have that low of oil pressure on a cold start on a 12.7
Que onda vicho! animo. That attitude will get you were you wanna go in life . Ive been a company driver for the last 3 years looking into getting my truck by this fall.
I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties. Hope you weren't too far away when you broke down. You have a great attitude. Take us for another ride in that Big Block V8 Z06!
New SUBSCRIBER here driv,ah DAMM ahhh this is a major loss I just went through the same. But at least when all said and done you well hopefully be good for another million... keep up the great work driv,ah
That’s long overdue. Respectfully he’s run the truck way too long now for the previous owner to be held Liable for motor issues. His best bet is to just rebuild it and keep on rolling. To much hassle to go and get into a scruffle over who said what and what was said.
Put how much you spend on the over haul on your next video . This yr I had to over haul my cat 3406 and Cummins isx back to back 😅it was a big ass dent in my pocket lol . I’m looking at a Pete 379 with a Detroit in it
Yesss, I’ve been saying this. My dad has Columbias/Cascadias with Detroits and we never have issues lol, they are a little slower but reliable and cheap to repair. I’ve heard cat rebuilds are expensiveee.
Eso pasa pero me da gusto q tienes tu camión. Y eso q estás joven pero vas por un buen camino suerte y positivo siempre. Tienes el sueño de mucho y mio también de tener su propio camión.
How much did you oh down the truck? What year is it? I’m sorry about the engine, but you’ll have a good power plant when it’s done, deepening ok the quality of pets that are used in the rebuild.
Well that freakin sucks, who rebuilds an engine without cutting the block lmao. Not sure if it’s a family mechanic shop but make sure you check for block damage so when you go to install your liners they won’t sink and leak coolant into the crankcase.
You don't need to cut the Counter bores noobs, the issue was a cracked sleeve they cut the Counter bores to get a better seal on the head gaskets it didn't have head gasket issues he even shows you the cracked sleeve it needed a overhaul duhhhh, Cummins has different size sleeves that move in the bores that's why you cut the Counter bores so they don't move around bunch of noobs.
@@zacb7427 the fuck are you even talking about? I watched the damn video and seen it myself, you still have to check counterbore and check liner protrusion even if you overhaul it or Daniel gonna be back with another issue. It’s not if it will happen, but when it will happen. Even if a few holes still look good or you decide to cut just that bad one save the trouble and do them all now.
@@zacb7427 That’s good in my opinion as long you take care of your equipment you won’t run into issues like most people do. Hopefully my bores on my 3406 are good once she goes into the shop. Didn’t mean to swear at you man my apologies.
Ok i get your point, but you should learn more about engines b4 you speak on a opion. I have a 60 series 12.7 Detroit, i have a 525 cummins celect plus, 2000 & 2001 Freightliner Classic's. The rebuild on both engines cost the same, Cats are expensive not Detroits or Cummins. I actually think you paid a lil 2 much but thats just my personal opinion & not facts. I just found your channel & seems 2 be pretty good, good luck my young friend. That engine had not been rebuilt 🤷🏾♀️, just sayin

He’d blow it up if he did that. Wouldn’t recommend it until you get more experience driving and quit driving it like a race car.
I would go to the person who sold you the truck, he a damn scammer
Nuthin you can do NOW but just to let him know you know he played you. Lessons young bull. Don’t worry

For sure thats the reason i wont ever get a cat loll

@@Icdaniell gtta love dem Detroits I have a 14L
Yep and tune it to 600 and RUN
If you don't install a new bull gear when you overhaul a Detroit it's really like playing Russian roulette
Run hard and put up wet, detroit is a good engine , like all of them, must take care of the engine and drive line . Good luck 👍
Best of luck to you sad to see it happen but come back faster and stronger 👍
Yessir we’re working on it🙏🏻
