Yeah I remember at one concert I was at in Cleveland at Quicken Arena for the Lights in the Sky Tour of 2008 the people or strangers in the row behind us decided to take a ton of acid. Whether you like all his music or not.. You have to respect his ideology when it comes to music.. That little speech towards the end, describing the greedy record companies who refuse to make even a tiny cut to the price of an album.. So he encourages everyone to steal it.. I've also heard stories of him leaking his own material by dropping flash drives in bathrooms at the shows.. As well as the album releases that contained the individual instrument tracks for fans to remix his music.. His music belongs to the fans, even if we were extorted in the beginning.. He's more than paid us back for the behavior of the greedy Fucks who had to control his creativity.. Compare this to bands like Metallica who whined like little pansies over Napster, and file sharing.. Free access to music is the future, and you can embrace it like a true artist and be excited that people wanna hear what you've created, or whine like a bitch because you'll take a 10% hit in profit and in the end only be worth $100 million as opposed to $400 million.. Trent is not in it just for the money.. you can tell he loves what he's doing.. And he proves it by rewarding his fans.. Just makes me love NIN even more..
The footage where they break stuff is from a documentary that's on yt and in the comments of one of the parts I read that when Trent decided to re-release it on dvd some people wanted to be removed from it so Trent just said fuck it and uploaded the whole thing on thepiratebay, not many artists would do that !
