The arrows on the air nomads shows that they are master Airbenders. Not that they are the Avatar
Was just about to say that too XD
@R/Devils Advocate even though all the masters like giatso, the council, and others all have them??????????
Always bugged me that the tattoos glow
@@dangshnizzle6929 eyes are the window to the soul so they glow with the avatar state, the arrows are part of how the spiritual air nomads see themselves once they get it so they glow too, thats how i always saw it
@@dangshnizzle6929 really? Why? Its epic
God damn, the Guru's dialogue overlaid with Toph creating metal bending is sublime

Last Earthbender no
It was fantastic. Still think her creating metalbending the best feat in the whole series other than full Avatar Aang
It‘s my favourite scene from the whole show
i’m your 1,000th like
The scene where Toph metal bends for the very first time has always been underrated. The soundtrack + explanation of Guru Pathik gives me chills every time !!! "Wooo Toph, you rule"
Marion R YES! It literally doesn’t matter how often I see that scene, I still get chills after ten years!
I Always cry there because of the wisdom the visuals and the soundtrack

@Kyle S. The female chuck norris of earth bending..

Toph was one of the few main characters in any show that made their first appearance in the middle of the series and immediately became awesome. You become emotionally invested in each of the characters which are all so awesome.

The hand signs Aang does while meditating on each chakra is what Buddhists actually do for each one. That's dope. Edit: Hindus use them as well! Also the colors of his visions correspond to each chakra, and (I believe) the sounds droning in the background are at their frequencies too. Thanks to commenters pointing these out! Gotta love that attention to detail from the showrunners!
Jude Miller I am buddhist and you are fucking right 👍🏻😊
It's also a Hindu Mudra. For example when he opened the light chakra that was located in the pineal gland, he used the Garuda Mudra.
They also highlighted the screen with the corresponding colors
damn i didnt know that. little details make big difference. thats why the show is one of the best
@@christopherspaulding9283 Awesome. Love the attention to detail.
“Love is a form of energy and it swirls all around us. The Air Nomads’ love for you has not left this world. It is still inside of your heart and is reborn in the form of new love.” My favorite quote from this wonderful show 😢😊
The arrows signify the mastery of air, not an avatar.
Exactly, otherwise Roku, Kyoshi and the other avatars would have arrows. Only the air nomad Avatar have them, it's cultural like the Fire Nation top knot Roku has.
this show is so amazing. i love how a "kids show" can explain chakras in an entire episode so deeply. man i love avatar
Janvi "This is not a kid's show man" 😂😂😂
Like most critics say, this episode had elements of Empire Strikes Back in explaining the mystical and spirituality of the Force/Bending. The only difference is while the Force has mostly mysticism and Buddhist elements that allow connection with all life and matter around them, bending has Hindu, yoga and Buddhist influences that allows manipulating of the four elements.

You guys have had my absolute FAVORITE reaction to the introduction of metalbending out of any reactors so far! That scene gives me chills every time.

U said chakra like naruto in the dub lol

Nurturing the love within you and being willing to let them go are pretty distinct concepts.
Well, haven’t you ever heard the saying, “If you love them let them go.” Because letting go, is actually love in its truest form. Unrequited- And Unattached- And also Unconditional. ❤️

I always look forward to the chakra unblocking scenes.
I make videos about Avatar, if anyone is interested.
They didn't write avatar
I never realized how similar this episode is to Star Wars, like how Luke left Yoda is exactly like how Aang left Guru Pathik
@Lain the Hero's journey is a common trope but there are a lotta story elements in this show and even Korra that were directly influenced by Star Wars, in this case the introduction of a wise old mentor in the second chapter who offers enlightenment to the hero but is rejected for love resulting in the hero's downfall
And then in the next one, they lose and have to go on the run. It's just the Empire Strikes Back all over again.
Toph is the most badass character to ever appear on Nickelodeon!
John Evans agree
She really is
Well thats not a avatar I would say. Other wise most definetly
That’s a weird way to spell Zuko. (Still Toph is pretty badass)

this is probably one of my favorite episodes in the entire series. it's just packed to the brim with meaning, philosophy, and a sort of care you don't see in a lot of shows, kid show or otherwise. every single one of pathik's lessons on the chakras still ring true to this day.
like if I'm being honest the comment that "kids should definitely be learning this stuff" is totally valid, because a lot of the chakra lessons I saw as a kid helped inform at least a couple important decisions in my life. especially the air and light chakras.
Rana: "I have the biggest crush on Zuko."

I had a huge crush on Zuko too xD
That guru's teaching was the biggest acid trip for y'all hahaha. Awesome stuff.
of corse it was what do you think was in the Onion-banana juice?
TheBotherHood I think they actually use onion banana juice to help them meditate in real life. Don’t quote me though, just something I read on the internet.
@@theluckycharms81592 Yup, they do!
I swear the guru talking over toph metal bending and the music in the background always gives me chills
I love how they play on Hakoda's last words to Sokka before he and the men left to join the war "Being a man is knowing where you're needed the most." Sokka knew right when he looked into Aang's eyes what he had to do. This show man.
Great reaction! This is one of my all time favorite shows and i can always rewatch it.
I just wanted to clear something up for you guys, I noticed you talking about the arrow tattoos of the air nomads and taking it as a sign of them being an Avatar. The air nomads actually get these tattoos once they've mastered airbending, regardless whether they're the avatar or not. Aang already got his tattoos at twelve which shows that he is somewhat of an airbending prodigy, especially if you remember some of the flashbacks in earlier episodes in which none of his friends around the same age had the tattoos.
Just thought it was something you'd like to know. Anyway keep up the good work, i'm really enjoying your reactions and already looking forward to next week!
Greetings from germany :)
End of the second season was just amazing! Every episode was so great! I remember how I hated to wait a week to know what will happen next!
Scar Daamn firelord scar with the burrnn!!
Scar Lol... That happened in United States. There is a world outside it, with different episode air dates. :)
Zuko and Iroh was literally just living there life and then Katara's ass gotta pop up.
It is hard to understand Guru Pathik's final lesson, because what he's saying is that you must understand your own mortality. No matter how much you love someone, you must never let them attach you to the world. You will leave it too someday, and the more time you spend agonizing over the end, the less you will comprehend the miracle that is the present.
We are not defined by the length of time we exist in this world. We are defined by what we make of that time.
Also, in real life Tantra chakras have a color. Each of Aang's visions are tinted with the color associated with the chakra he's opening.
Guru pathik to aang :- choose your options
1. Control the avatar state or
2. Katara
Aang:- hell noo I want water tribe ass
"If you base your expectations only on what you see, you blind yourself to the possibilities of a new reality." (like metalbending)

14:50 I have been a huge fan and follower of this show since it started in 2005, and i have to say that I NEVER made that connection to what Hakoda said here and what katara said in episode 2. Thats freaking awesome dude, new watchers find new cool stuff about this show ALL the time!!
I've been waiting for their reaction to Toph metal bending and it's very satisfying!
YES ANOTHER AVATAR REACTION!
People always comment on my username man.
Guru Patik best character.
andrew baez I wish he and Iroh would’ve met. Jasmine Tea and Onion-Banana juice- they would have become the first multi millionaires in this universe hahaha
I was about to watch it when they said that they aren't gonna discuss till it's all over. So fellow non patrons, I think we should be strong and wait till part 2 is also uploaded so we don't have to feel empty when we finish part 1. We can just transition to part 2 quickly! "You may think you're the greatest earthbender in the world, but even you can't metal bend."
Toph: proceeds to create metalbending
It was at this moment that I realized, Toph is my favorite character.
Currently this is you guys most enjoyable reaction(s) to a show on your channel, in your GOT ones it feels like you overreact sometimes but in this one it's just fun to watch
"Can I have some onion banana juice, please?"
The Thought Chakra scene with those supernatural visual and sublime music, representing all the emotions going on within Aang at that point, really put a tear in my eye... as does the corresponding scene in the next episode.
damn, they re gonna be mind blowned by the ending. It will be totally unexpected as season 2 went on
Need a compilation of Nahid's "I think I think" moments 😂
What pancake flavour is she?
@5:20 You might think you're the greatest earth bender in the world but even you can't bend metal ! *stares at camera*
Navi, we’ve missed you 💛
"even metal is just a part of earth that has been purified"
She focused on the impurities in the metal to bend it.
Airbenders with arrows are masters.

what`s up with resolution?
they explain it end of video. they had a issue with the footage. but they downloaded their livestream video to use. i barely noticed it
+No Diggity
Yeah, not that big of a deal, but the bad quality is super obvious when they do the zoom-ins that they enjoy doing
Ximienlum at least the quality cleared up, in some parts which I am grateful for.
I like how that guy knew about Avatar Yangchen before her debut
aw dat quality tho, its noticeable on my flatscreen moreso
12:48 - YOU KNOW WHAT I JUST REALISES...this is why Guru Lahema and Zahear were able to fly. They opened all chakaras through letting go attachment.
Nah zaheer gave up his love for earthly persons
To complete the chakra journey you have to be able to let them go, while still loving them.
@@lucaaz14 giving up your love for the earthly person/connection IS the final chakra....This is also the reason why (As Avatar YangShin explained "the avatar can never gain spiritual enlightenment as they must duty falls to the earth")
@@TheDragonaf1 so you're saying that avatar YangShin never controlled the avatar state?
The control of the avatar state - true spiritual enlightment are different things I think.
9:44 One of them is an Avatar. The woman on the right is Avatar Yangchen who is the Avatar before Kuruk. You only know about Kyoshi and Roku so far, but once you get to the end of the show, you learn more about Kuruk and Yangchen. Mainly about Kuruk who is linked to a former spirit from Season 1. If you want to learn about Yangchen, read the comics. It explains everything that happens after the show and gives a little understanding of the next avatar, Korra.
Their reaction to metal bending was fucking amazing
11:34 Your collective reactions are always priceless!
The real question though, what DID RANA RUB ON NAHID'S HAIR?! 😂
Do they know that the arrow on his head means they are an air master
All Air Masters have the tattoos. Once they master the air element they recieve tattoos. Aang mastered air by 10 years old I think
I've been refreshing this way too much! It's the only thing I look up for the day!
This IS a kids show! Stop saying it isn't! Children DO have these same existencial paradigms, this show did WONDERS for the millions of children who watched and are watching now, it helped many understand complicated matters that ADULTS are fearful of explaining. How many children try to live to parents expectations? Zuko and Aang and Toph suffer from this. How many children live in imposible conditions? For the children that live like this it helps them understand their conditions and options, for children who live better, it teaches empathy. We always underestimate children and I remember how I hated that when I WAS a child.
I like how in the vision even katara says let me go 13:56
I don't think Pathik explained that final chakra very well.
Letting go of attachments doesn't mean forgetting about those you love. You care for them, but their existing and your feelings for them aren't the purpose of your being.
I just realized that the flashbacks are painted in the colors of their respective shakras 🤯🤯🤯.
This show just gets better and better every time you watch it.

swagnifcent shut up Berleezy
Did you know each scene where aang opened his chakras was a color of a rainbow?
This idea of the more powerful, HIGHER self exists cross-culturally. It's a very ancient notion that has persisted since the dawn of humanity. We've passed down stories from generation to generation about the idea of a higher consciousness that we can willingly tap into. It's an ideal of transformation, a path to becoming a fully-realized human being, in the same way Aang is trying to become a fully-realized avatar. However, despite common misconceptions, the cosmic energy isn't reserved for any one special individual, but to all people. It is the primordial source from which consciousness rose from, and ANYONE can access it because it is the seed of all phenomena, our birthplace. Which is why (*SPOILER COMING UP!!!!*)........... .........................................................Korra could access the cosmic energy of the universe without her avatar spirit.
So fucking cool.
Surprised me at the beginning, when Iroh said was making jook(Cantonese word for congee), because I happen to be eating a bowl myself haha (pretty good "sick food" while you're dealing with a cold).
"I am the greatest earth bender in the world!" when you can back up your flex like that it doesn't even sound cocky. You're just like "yup".
I cannot wait till they see Korra!
