You guys should react to Avatar the Last Airbender- Creating The Legend- Bending. The master they hired to choreograph the fights explains how each nation's fighting techniques are based on real life Kung Fu styles. It's amazing.
Now that we've reached this point in the series, it's a great time to let you know that the earthbender in the opening sequence is actually Toph's original character design! The Boulder is also inspired by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (a bit on the nose if you ask me)
I dunno how else to say this, but when I first watched Avatar I was by myself and loved it. Watching it with you guys hits a whole lot differently, I'm so animated in my seat glued to the screen mirroring you guys, smile plastered on my face. This episode was amazing.
Fire Nation Man is a reference to wrestling's tradition of ersatz "bad guys" (referred to in professional wrestling slang as "Heels"). During the Cold War, many of these "bad guys" were supposedly from Russia but were actually Americans putting on accents. Fire Nation Man's accent was notably Russian. Sokka's behavior during the match is a reference to the stereotypical pro wrestling fan. Katara commenting, "This is just going to be a bunch of guys chucking rocks at each other", parallels the stereotypical friend who is forced to go to a sporting match. The Earth Rumble Championship Belt is similar to the WWE Championship Belt. The raised fist logo for Earth Rumble VI, while very similar to a Socialist emblem, is also a more subtle reference to the steel fist that used to be the iconic piece in the stage set of WWE SmackDown for a number of years.
"My daughter is blind! She is blind and tiny and fragile and helpless! She could not help you!" "Yes, I can." Toph's dad was right about 2 things- she was blind and tiny, but not helpless and fragile. Toph is the best!

This particular episode is also titled as "The Earthbending Tournament", not to be confused with the title, especially when downloading through the iTunes music store. This episode was ranked #12 in the "100 Greatest Moments in Nicktoon History" ranking. A segment of the song "The Avatar's Love" is played again at the end of the episode.
i don't know his name but the guy with the glasses is so funny! He seems like the kind of person I'll like to chill with, I hope you guys never split and stop doing reactions.
The detail on this episode goes even further than you realize, actually. To show how different Toph is from every other earthbender, her stance and fighting style uses a whole separate martial art for reference. The bending styles are each based on real-world martial arts. Water is Tai Chi, Fire is Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, Air is Baguazhang, and Earth is Hung Gar Kung Fu. Toph however, is specifically Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu.
@@quentinjones6877 Sure, but they thought she was a weak earthbender, not the amazing bender she actually was. So Aang being all "I need her to be my teacher because she kicks ass" was in a way blowing her cover with her parents who really thought she was weak and frail.

Now that we've reached this point in the series, it's a great time to let you know that the earthbender in the opening sequence is actually Toph's original character design!
The Boulder is also inspired by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (a bit on the nose if you ask me)
11:03 is my favorite!!!
"She must be so scared..."
cuts to Toph...
"You think your so tough! I'll smack that grin off your face!" lol
11:24. It's funny that he mentioned the WWE Universe because the voice actor for " The Boulder" is "Mankind " ( Mick Foley).
He is a parody of the rock
@@richardblevins9878 lol yep
@@richardblevins9878 originally the rock would be the voice of the boulder but he was busy at the time so he sent them to mankind
What I appreciate the most about Toph’s introductory episode is they wait to make the blind jokes until after they establish badass she is.
13:22 that sequence was amazing and I love that they reacted like they did. It it soo well done!!!
Fun fact: The animators took martial arts classes to help them visualize the bending and fight scenes.
yesss toph and zuko and iroh are my favorite characters from the show
The Goat is finally here. Toph 🐐
I dunno how else to say this, but when I first watched Avatar I was by myself and loved it. Watching it with you guys hits a whole lot differently, I'm so animated in my seat glued to the screen mirroring you guys, smile plastered on my face. This episode was amazing.
At last the real start of Book of Toph begins, enjoy guys.
I feel like Lupa is gonna go back to CAPTAIN PLANEEEET! for season 3.
If he doesn't I'll be mad cuz that shits funny asf
The season finale's gonna flip their mind when they sees her in a box
As in; you could /totally/ stand to mention it more! 😂
Fun fact: Mic Foley from wwe voiced The Boulder.
Toph, has entered the fray. I love Toph’s character so much 💚💚💚
I love the bit where she floods the area with debris. The dust cloud poses no disadvantage for her but her opponents are all reliant on their sight.
Toph is one of the best characters in this show
For me she is, with Iroh for close second
Aang: We need to help Toph.
Toph: I'll bury you all and dance on your graves.
Sokka: She's got it.
toph entered the room:
the beginning of blind jokes
I can already tell you guys are gonna love the blind jokes in the show from now on
11:47 I think what tops did is she crumbled the the rocks underneath them into sand, then when she broke the floor all the pressure exploded out
"These were probably the best fights shown"
aaaAAAAAAHHHH it's too soon to say that...
Sol_ninja assassin Which fight’s your favorite??
@@ESPHMacD crossroads of destiny fight, last agni kai, every combustionman, kataravhama
Sol_ninja assassin Nice! I always go back to the last Agni Kai.
Can’t wait for you guys to looove tf out of toph
Love seeing you guys getting into the real badassness of this show. One of my favorite kid shows and thats not a negative category
"My daughter is blind! She is blind and tiny and fragile and helpless! She could not help you!"
"Yes, I can."
Toph's dad was right about 2 things- she was blind and tiny, but not helpless and fragile. Toph is the best!
It’s been over ten years since I first watched avatar and still rewatch it a thousand times since but I like watching videos like this because it’s nice to see peoples reaction for the first time. It’s like I’m watching it for the first time too! 😊
“Ain’t shit sweet, bring the cash or we’ll the kids”💀😂
Love how her first move in the big battle is to blind everyone. They have the numbers, but what a poetic way of immediately flipping the odds in her favor.
I was waiting for y'all to get to this. Definitely one of my favorite episodes. When this 1st aired I was shook. But I was also afraid they jumped the shark by adding a new, and younger character. And I was completely wrong, Toph was the perfect addition.
4:05 I love how they got the joke before the punchline. That's the best feeling ever XD
Toph is by far my favorite out of all of them.
Same
11:00 "ain't shit sweet, bring the cash or we kill the kids" LMFAOO It's so funny when you guys switch out the subtitles once in a while bc it's so unexpected
In case anyone is wondering, they are completely caught up to the show on patreon. If you guys didn't want to wait like I did
I love you guys so much! Thanks for giving me friends to watch the best shows with. Honestly really helps me forget my problems and have a good laugh with good people!! One love!!
I'm dying 💀😂💀 at that damn note: Ain't shit sweet, bring the cash or we kill the kids! 😂😂😂😂😂
I was waiting for them to watch this episode for a long time because I knew they were going to love the fight and as Toph she is the best fighter, but more is coming about her and more incredible fights ;)
When I first watched this show when I was like 13 I had the biggest crush on toph
FINALLY, I've been waiting for this since you guys started with this series.
12:16 "look at the animation"...that right there sums up this series.
"This girl is nasty"
You have no idea haha
I'm just glad people are finally waking up on Avatar. Lyk this show deserved better
I get chills every time she says "Wait! They're mine."
lmao these reactions are legit the best part of my day
i don't know his name but the guy with the glasses is so funny! He seems like the kind of person I'll like to chill with, I hope you guys never split and stop doing reactions.
10:59
“Ain’t shit sweet
bring the cash or we kill the kids.”
My lungs during this laugh: yeah!?!?!?
The detail on this episode goes even further than you realize, actually. To show how different Toph is from every other earthbender, her stance and fighting style uses a whole separate martial art for reference.
The bending styles are each based on real-world martial arts. Water is Tai Chi, Fire is Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, Air is Baguazhang, and Earth is Hung Gar Kung Fu. Toph however, is specifically Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu.
Those were some of the best fights....
Me: Um... wait and see....
Nah Toph washing those dudes was still a top 15 fight in the series
"My daughter is blind, she is tiny, helpless and weak" Literally roasted his own child.
toph: I'm not in danger, I am the danger
I have watched so many people react to this episode and you guys were definitely the best reaction to this episode! Thank you!
As someone with a walking disability, it's cool to see a character with a disability be so badass
i think this may be the most iconic fight/character intro in the whole show
Sheera being pissed for Aang trying to expose Toph made me fall in love all over again
I don't know why, toph's parents already knew she was an earthbender
@@quentinjones6877 Sure, but they thought she was a weak earthbender, not the amazing bender she actually was. So Aang being all "I need her to be my teacher because she kicks ass" was in a way blowing her cover with her parents who really thought she was weak and frail.
@@SunsetMap oh ok, I see your point
@@quentinjones6877 Cool!
I still can’t get over how raw they made last dude move against toph. Those animators were cooking
The best character has finally come in the picture.
She is not the best character
I just love the scene where Toph moves out the way of the rock and it’s a close up of her eyes soo chilling
Finally! Toph is a beast man. Best character.
11:49 correct me if I'm wrong, but whenever she does this she is the only one to have that ominous music before starts flexing her earth bending
"He just paid him to go die"
lowkey half this show
The animation of this show is so good. They really put so much love and time into this show. Thank you so much for y’all reacting. These videos have made me so happy during this terrible year. I can’t wait for Book 3 reactions 🥰
