Chase: "God knows how many people" Yeah, about that. This was at Woodstock Poland (Now called Pol'and'Rock Festival) in 2012. The festival was 550,000 people. I can't even imagine playing for a festival crowd that absolutely massive. Its absolutely insane. Great video, buddy!
Yeah, and Sabaton drew so many people that Jurek Owsiak (the organizer) said he'd never invite Sabaton again as they don't have the resources to provide security for this many people :D

due to health issues going to the actual live shows is kind of hard for me because of crowds, but ever since graspop last year i've endeavored to watch all their shows that are streamed.
Chase, I went for a Nightwish concert in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia a few years ago, and Sabaton was the "warm-up band". I had no idea what Sabaton was, and I think most of the audience, too. And there were some Slovak warm-up bands even before that, but their quality was not that good, they were beginners basically. So when Sabaton came on stage with Ghost Division, everybody was utterly amazed, and loved them instantly. The cheer after the song was enormous! The band actually did not continue to play for a while, cause the crowd was so damn excited, and loud. :D And then they continued, and we knew real professionals were on the stage, and they knew what they were doing. And what was the most important thing - they entertained the crowd as hell! The main singer is a special dude, looked so funny when he was surprised because of the reaction from the crowd. :D And he also knows one line in Slovak - "one more beer", so some guys immediately shouted that at him, and after a while he actually went into backstage for a beer and drank it in one go in front of everybody. :D And the drummer´s set was staged on a freaking tank! :D And there was an odd guy walking around the stage the whole concert, and was placing pieces of armor all around things on the stage. And when the singer asked him, what he was doing, he said he was preparing for a war. :D The whole atmosphere was so awesome that Sabaton actually almost stole the show from Nightwish. :D:D These guys were having fun and their goal was to entertain people, and Nightwish´s goal is to make art, so a kind of different vibe, but those two bands together made one hell of an experience that night that I won´t forget!

The first time I ever heard a Sabaton song was live when they were opening for Nightwish. I was blown away by the energy from start to finish. Throughout what I think was a 60 minute set I don't think any of them ever stopped moving. They hopping for at least 60% of it. They are a case study on the value of a high energy performance. On a separate note before their final song the singer invited 2 ten year old girls in the front row to come up on stage and dance with them. He gave them his sunglasses and his wristband and they rocked it up there. Most adorable thing I've ever seen at a concert. He said, "Is this your first rock show?" and they said, "No"
Hey Chase! I'm really glad you came back to Sabaton for another go. Another great reaction, I know a lot of what they've got is "simple" but I think they're true strength is sheer energy and storytelling. One of my favorite bands for many years alongside Nightwish. Uprising and 40:1 from this concert go without saying are crazy but I'd actually recommend something from their cut off 2020 tour. It would be nice to see something like Night Witches or The Red Baron. Another great video though, thank you for revisiting them.

What this also shows is how well they are loved, in Poland, in front of a mostly Polish crowd, they could get this kind of reaction from the crowd, singing about a WWII German division.
Finally! Was waiting for more Sabaton! They are powerful, easy to listen and pump up. Every music has its place. As someone whos favorite genre is prog i am all about very detailed musical master pieces but i also like some Sabaton songs here and there. They are good.
You mentioned the word 'GREAT' a lot here. Maybe it's time for the Great War- official music video. You'll see fun footage of their live shows 😊 But I do like Uprising live from Woodstock. Gah! You decide. It's your channel anyway.
they have just as much fun in a small venue of a couple hundred people. I discovered them by going to a random show and it was the best concert I've ever been. They are a damn good band to see live.
Ahhh, I love the moment Chase realizes how freaking giant Woodstock/Pol'and'Rock is (attendance varies from 250 to 750k. Yes. You read that right. 750 thousand people). Honestly, once the world is again a thing, you should definitely come - it's one of those festival every metal lover should attend at least once in their life.
I am thrilled that you're on board with Sabaton! Really, I am. :) Listening to them brings a smile to my face and I'm glad that it can bring one to yours as well Chase :)
Anything from The Great Tour 2020 is pretty much like this, crazy audience and full speed. The remarkable about music though, a Swedish band singing in English about German tanks in WW2 to a Polish audience who knows every last word. Music unites!
Sabaton are one of my favorite live bands, they bring this level of power and energy every. single. time. And the crowd as well, it's just a blast!!! You should check out their song Night Witches next.
I gotta say how I love how much work you put into these reaction videos, it really shows just how well you know your stuff... Also, I would recommend going for "40:1" or "Uprising" from the same concert, after that a good stop would be a series of videos called "The Great Saturday", in which they uploaded a live video from each of their latest shows for their new album, before this whole pandemic debacle..
I really enjoy Sabaton. They have been a band that the more I hear the more I enjoy them. I really enjoyed your input and breakdown of what they were doing. It gave me, like in so many other reactions, a greater appreciation for the music that I enjoy. I really liked how you talked about the enjoyment of the music around the 9 minute mark, loved that. It was very interesting hearing about why you would have the feedback. The amount of fun you seemed to be having while reacting to this was just the icing on the cake. Have a great one Chase.
My husband and I like to joke that we've never seen Sabaton perform ghost division as the crowd always goes NUTS when they run in, and yes I've seen them loads and they ALWAYS come on to Ghost Division. Our theory is that Joachim wears a thigh pad. That or all the lunges he does when he performs have left his thigh with the strength of tensile steel. So live wise their performance of En Livstig I Krig live at Gothemburg is something else. I am actually a very big fan of their ballads and am still gutted hey never isn't a good quality recording of their live acoustic performance of the final solution which is down right haunting (as it should be considering the subject matter). If you want something fun I would highly reccomend the last stand live. See also Sweedish pagans where you get a rowing pit instead of a mosh one! As always great analysis Chase look forward to the next one.
Sabaton opened for Babymetal in Japan, I wish I was at 1 of those shows, 2 amazing live bands. The other opening band was Galactic Empire. It was for Halloween, so lots and lots of fans in cosplay.
I just love Sabaton, they're exactly how they should be - not too complicated music, historical lyrics, camo pants and tanks :D I'd love to see your reaction to The attack of the dead men (Live - The Great Tour - London), it's a better version than the official video.
the one time I actually say Sabaton live was a few years back when they were one of the openers for Nightwish. Even in a smaller venue they still bring incredible energy.
What should give you an idea of how awesome Sabaton is live and how beloved they are in Poland is that's almost half a milion Polish people screaming "Ghost Division". Again. Polish people cheering for a song about nazis. That should give anyone pause. And I've been to several of their concerts now and each one was a joyous experience. They have the best chemistry with the audience I've seen in any band, live or on video. And I've seen Apocaliptyca and Nightwish live. And they're all absolutely amazing live, with amazing syngergy with the crowds. None can hold a candle to Sabaton in that department.
I've seen them live at a 1000 person concert and it doesn't matter how many people there are they just blow it out of the park. they love to joke around on stage and have a blast and that has made them into my favorite band to listen to and to see live.
"That is another good place to pause" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 There is always a good place to pause Pause Master 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The energy on this was off the roof! And it sure takes you along with it. Nice one!
On annother note, I CAN NOT listen to this and not bang my head off! Seen them live 9 times and counting, easily one of the best live bands I've ever seen!
Another great song by them and my personal favourite song of their’s is Night Witches. Also title track from their latest album, Great War absolutely kicks ass
Awesome reaction, as always :) I'm so happy you decided to give Sabaton another shot. They are amazing live, I went to one of their concerts earlier this year, before the social distancing kicked in and it was the best concert experience of my life. I am especially amazed by Joakim (singer of Sabaton) who sang for 2 hours and ran around as he did most of the time. At one point, he even put on a gasmask that he sang through and some kind of really heavy thing on his back when they did "The attack of the dead men" and still he was singing and walking around much like it was nothing... They all have so much energy though on stage, which makes them so much fun to see live. As much as I have enjoyed listening to their albumversions, they are (sort of like Nightwish) even more fantastic to see live. How about doing Carolus rex next? Or if you are in the mood for a ballad, why not give En livstid i krig/a lifetime of war a shot. There is a live version of both these songs from their recent tour, The great tour. They performed Carolus rex with the band Apocalyptica who opened for them so there 3 cellos on stage as well as the band :)
I think you should watch their song En livstid i krig live in Gothenburg from their Great Tour and turn on subtitles since it's in Swedish. Definitely one of their best performances
I tell people flat out - don't start with Bismark. Good enough song, great story, parts give me chills, BUT... Note a good entry point if you want to get how FUN the band is. The infectious tunes that run through my head? - 82nd all the way - my go-to for introducing people. - smoking snakes - 40:1 - winged hussars - to hell and back - gott mitt uns - union - the lost battalion - the last stand - white death Lots more, but that is what came up first off the top of my head. Also - the live version of "Lifetime of War" in Swedish from their last tour is a gut-punch - the shift in lyrical point of view makes it almost a different song about the same subject matter, and much more personal. Finally - they work with other bands. Not only is there a solid cover of "82nd" by Amaranthe, but they did a collaboration with Apocalyptica of "Angels Calling" that is absolutely incredible.
I saw them recently at a small venue here on Florida, and it was just as energetic and intense - such a good show, matter the size! Also, every show starts out .. WE ARE SABATON, AND THIS IS GHOST DIVISION!! And then everyone goes nuts.
You really should check out their live version from the song "en livstid i krig" in gothenburg, I dont think I have ever seen such a great performance ever. the video is amazing.
About that feedback, this song is less technical, more pure loud hype, so it was the first on the lineup to exactly spot out those flaws and it was corrected straight away But yeah, Sabaton generates hype, and the crowd is fkin hype, this makes an overwhelming feedback loop that makes their live shows MADENING, and whenever it's in Poland (a country that really likes them, as the band likes the country) it pumbs up to eleven I suggest the live To Hell and Back, not in Poland I believe but it's my favorite song and the crowd likes aswell
@ChaseCarneson yes, the crowd was big there , estimate 350k-500k depends from the source. The festival is called now PolAndRock festival, formally known as Polish Woodstock ( Przystanek Woodstock) , that is why you can hear Johannes say that name. It's free festival in Kostrzyn Poland almost 30 years old and it's organised by biggest Polish charity as a thank you for all the people participate in yearly collection.
It was such a great experience seeing them in january 2020. I'm so glad the concert was before the lockdown! Btw, I was at two Sabaton concerts so far, and also saw them at a festival. I never heard a feedback issue like that in any of their concerts. But I don't have a problem with that. They remind me of the small basement concerts I used to go to when I was younger ;)
2019 @ Wacken, 40 to 1...it, was absolutely amazing! I still get energised looking and listening at it! I smiled when I saw your face in the beginning of the song, cause Yes! This is how I first heard their music (at WOA) and I enjoyed it so much. Was a bit dissapointed when you didn't liked Bismarck (but sure do like your honesty). My suggestion would be 2019 WOA, actually 3 songs (that's how Wacken put it on you-tube), 40 to 1, in their third song they have a guest, Tina, and she is bad-ass on her cello 💚. Love it when different kinds of music turn out to blend so well. So thanks for not given up on Sabaton! (*sigh*, miss the festivals sooo !!!)
My personal favorite Sabaton song is The Last Stand, I think you might enjoy it as well. It feels like Sabaton's version of a church hymn, of course still based upon the history of warfare (The sack of Rome in 1527, in this case).
Looking forward to this one. Also, have you considered taking a look at the band Avatar? Bloody Angel would be a great song. Edit: Another choice if you want really heavy with great composition is “Immortal” by Lorna Shore.
I'm so happy you've joined the Sabaton Battlecruiser! It's another reaction well done! I think alot of people are going to suggest "en livstid i krig" live in Göteborg, but "Night Witches" from Woodstock is also a great option, or "Resist and Bite" from this year's Antwerp-concert. I'm rather partial to the last one as I was there! Last proper outing before the beer-bug. But honestly, anything live is usually a winner as the energy is continuously on top throughout every concert. If you want to check out another video then "Fields of Verdun" is a good one.
Amaranthe just dropped a new album and I’m pretty sure you haven’t reacted to them yet! The Nexus, Hunger, Archangel, and Fearless all have awesome videos. I think you’d really like all the singers.
Totally same experience. Sister introduced me to them years ago. I thought: "meh nothing special". Then saw the live at a festival in 2012....... love them ever since.
fyi in case no one has mentioned it ...500k crowd and your right,,they are a live band,,seen them numerous times ..its a whole load of fun being at a Sabaton gig
Great one Chase. Highly recommend giving a watch to 40:1 or Uprising from the same show - both songs are about Poland and with the festival being in Poland - well those become very special. Have a damn good day!
Great you likes this one.Yes they are definetly a live band! Great in studio, incredible live! Now it is time for "Swedish paegans" from Wacken, and "the red baron" and "Carolus rex" from the great tour. "82 all the way" is also worth a shot! And...damn, they don't have bad live perfomances" Choose any! Have fun!
Sabaton is a live band. Yepp. A few fireworks... yepp. You should check the last shows. Unfortunately they are filmed from the stage. I hope there will be a dvd with view from the crowd. Seen them in Paris, knocked me out. Well seen then a bunch of times, but the last tour is simoly over the top, especially if you’re standing in the first rows right in front of Hannes (amazing abd clever drummer btw.)
Thanks for reaction, you should check out their last year tour live videos! Amazing stage setup and they sold out 80+ shows before covid canceld the world tour. The Great Tour is the name of it \m/
you should check out 40:1 or uprising from that show. its epic also, carolus rex live in stockholm and en livstid i krig live in gothenburg is worth checking out as well.
They are indeed a band you should listen to live first. I saw them for the first time in 2015 and didn’t know who they were. Now I’ve seen them 4 or 5 times and the live shows add that extra oomph to it.
"40:1" live is amazing too! Same show..... Ghost Division = 7th Panzer Division - so "ghostly" that even the German High Command did not know where they were in May 1940! Led by Rommel at the time and went through the "impassable" Ardenne's forest and Mosel river into France. Y*** 👻
If you want another video to react to, I suggest one of the latest live videos. They filmed it from the stage making a whole new point of view and it is amazing! "Great War", "The Attack Of The Dead Men" or "The Red Baron" would be my picks.
You should react to SABATON - En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg)

Really appreciate the kind words. Honestly means the world.
40:1, Uprising, Art of War from the same show. Sabaton is amazing live.
I was in the crowd for the Gothenburg one, and boy the video gives me the chills. It was amazing! \m/
Late to the party here. I'm not a big fan of emoji's but your title on this made me laugh. Great song, great reaction. Thanks.
The small screen with the video is very choppy. The sound is continuous but not the visual.
Yeah I've sorted it for future videos. It happens. I also mentioned it in the descriptions.
@@ChaseCarneson video description..whats that? :D
Love this song and specially The Red Baron's live video. Great reaction.
I've seen them live at a 1000 person concert and it doesn't matter how many people there are they just blow it out of the park. they love to joke around on stage and have a blast and that has made them into my favorite band to listen to and to see live.
"That is another good place to pause" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 There is always a good place to pause Pause Master 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The energy on this was off the roof! And it sure takes you along with it. Nice one!
Pausing that whole damn game
Attero dominatus!! They're so much fun live!!! An absolute blast
They performed Carolus rex with the band Apocalyptica who opened for them so there 3 cellos on stage as well as the band :)
i don`t have to see this video to "press like " :) i just know it will be awesome like all Chase is doing on this channel :)
You're the best!
I think you should watch their song En livstid i krig live in Gothenburg from their Great Tour and turn on subtitles since it's in Swedish. Definitely one of their best performances
For me Sabaton also needed a couple of songs to get into. Now Iquite enjoy it.
I tell people flat out - don't start with Bismark.
Good enough song, great story, parts give me chills, BUT...
Note a good entry point if you want to get how FUN the band is.
The infectious tunes that run through my head?
- 82nd all the way - my go-to for introducing people.
- smoking snakes
- 40:1
- winged hussars
- to hell and back
- gott mitt uns
- union
- the lost battalion
- the last stand
- white death
Lots more, but that is what came up first off the top of my head.
You really should check out their live version from the song "en livstid i krig" in gothenburg, I dont think I have ever seen such a great performance ever. the video is amazing.
its in Swedish, but the translation is good for the subtitles. ua-cam.com/video/WBs3G1PvyfM/v-deo.html
A Sabaton live show is fun for everyone. They really know how to play to a crowd and get everyone involved. I've never been to a better live show.
Great thing about Feedback is, it proves the show is live and not lip sync'd.
Now there's a point.
About that feedback, this song is less technical, more pure loud hype, so it was the first on the lineup to exactly spot out those flaws and it was corrected straight away
But yeah, Sabaton generates hype, and the crowd is fkin hype, this makes an overwhelming feedback loop that makes their live shows MADENING, and whenever it's in Poland (a country that really likes them, as the band likes the country) it pumbs up to eleven
I suggest the live To Hell and Back, not in Poland I believe but it's my favorite song and the crowd likes aswell
I saw them at a somewhat small venue last year in Dallas, Texas. Great show and high energy for the entire time they were on stage.
This is the true showcase of the expression "a sea of people"!
W.O.W another Sabaton !!! I Like and Waiting here for that !
So glad you gave them another shot!
Did you see the covers by Tommy Johanson(guitarist),they are ama zing
Looking forward to this one. Also, have you considered taking a look at the band Avatar? Bloody Angel would be a great song.
Edit: Another choice if you want really heavy with great composition is “Immortal” by Lorna Shore.
Seconding the Avatar recommendation! I love Avatar, and Bloody Angel is one of my favourites from them.
It took a few goes for me to get into Sabaton for me too. Attack of the Dead Men was what finally won me over.
So hype!!!
Dragonland - The Black Mare
Bloodywood - Yaad
Chimaira - Six
Angel Vivaldi - Martian Winter
they are so great live!
Sabaton is absolutely an awesome live band!
Great reaction man!
Have fun!
hope you do Swedish pagans from Wacken 2019 with Tina goe as guest and the old band member on second mainstage
You should check out Turisas, especially 'End of an Empire' or 'The Varangian Guard' They are a folk metal band from finland
They don't repeat the feedback problem when they play the 40:1 song, the masterpiece of this concert.
Great reaction, thanks! Id like to suggest the live "Great tour"-versions of "A lifetime of war" and "Lion from the North". Good stuff! :)
So happy you gave them another chance! ♥️♥️♥️
Got a subsciber here for being honest. I hate where I go to channels and they just say they love everything.
I appreciate you. Thanks for the support.
@@ChaseCarneson 👍
En livstid i krig or Carolus rex (swedish versions with lyrics) next, it's not a request... it's a call to arms xD
I second the choice of Carolus Rex, svenska version, of course.
you should check out 40:1 or uprising from that show. its epic
also, carolus rex live in stockholm and en livstid i krig live in gothenburg is worth checking out as well.
You might like their new live performance of "en livstid i krig". Give it a look! More of a melodic song.
They are indeed a band you should listen to live first. I saw them for the first time in 2015 and didn’t know who they were. Now I’ve seen them 4 or 5 times and the live shows add that extra oomph to it.
Sabaton 2 songs you could also look at are "82nd all the way" and "Primo Victoria"
"40:1" live is amazing too! Same show..... Ghost Division = 7th Panzer Division - so "ghostly" that even the German High Command did not know where they were in May 1940! Led by Rommel at the time and went through the "impassable" Ardenne's forest and Mosel river into France. Y*** 👻
They are definitely a live band. Their live performance is easily one of the best I've ever been to.
Seen them a couple of times, they are so nice and it’s a Sabaton love fest! 👍👍
If you want another video to react to, I suggest one of the latest live videos. They filmed it from the stage making a whole new point of view and it is amazing! "Great War", "The Attack Of The Dead Men" or "The Red Baron" would be my picks.
