    I did my leaf springs and shocks on my 2000 XJ the other day.
    My buddy made up a special cocktail that works better than PB Blaster.
    50/50 ATF and acetone.
    You'll need a lab quality squeeze bottle for acetone, but those are easy to get.
    No joke though, that sh*t worked.

    For the next time, I would suggest measuring the wheel outer to frame on each side before putting the Jeep in the air. After installing the new track bar, all you have to do is adjust the turnbuckle to get back to those initial measurements of the wheel outer to the frame. Otherwise, great job.

    Any time you show anti-seize being used it's a good idea to recommend gloves. That stuff can cause severe chemical burns on skin and if you rub just a little bit into an eye you can go permanently blind. Also worth noting that anti-seize lowers the requisite torque specs because it lubricates the threads, meaning that by the time your torque wrench reads or clicks on a certain torque value, the bolt has threaded in farther than it would have if dry. The risk from over-torquing is the potential to stretch the bolt/nut threads.

    Nice video. Only recommendation would be to highlight the challenging part of this whole install, and that’s the nut on the axle that replaces the flag nut. It’s the most challenging part of the install and why I’m looking for guidance and a lot of others are.

    • @allmycarsisbroke
      @allmycarsisbroke Рік тому +1

      Just stick a box end wrench up there. He showed how he did it right at about 11:10. First he stuck the nut up there and used the tip of his finger to hold it in place while he used his other hand and a wrench to turn the bolt so the threads would catch. Once it started to feel like it was snugging down, he stuck a box end wrench up through the hole.
      You don't even necessarily need to get the wrench fully seated onto the nut, you just need something you can jam in there that will prevent the nut from spinning while you tighten down the bolt with your wrench. Be careful, though: whatever you do stick in there, you'll need to get it back out. If you're not careful it can be pretty easy to clamp a tool down and then you have to back the bolt up a little bit so the nut will spin backwards and release whatever you had jammed in there.

    Hey. Love you videos. I go to your site first before working on my 98 XJ. I did the 3” lift and the track bar. After the install on the driver side I get a thump and I believe it is the new spring hitting the larger track bar fitting. Do you have same issue? Is there any way to fix it?

    • @OutJeeping
      @OutJeeping  Рік тому

      That issue is most likely because the axle is not centered, and the track bar needs to be adjusted in length.

If you are getting into crazy articulation I would suggest a track bar that has a universal ball joint style end at the frame to keep the rubber bushings from getting ruined.

    good video.I have a question.How far or how much lift is the cut-off point as to where i should put a track bar relocation bracket or an adjustable trac-bar when raising a 99 jeep tj?i have a 2 to 2.5 suspension lift and i definetly had to use ratchet strap to pull axle over to re-attach trac bar.So im wondering if i shoul add a relocation bracket at 2 inch of lift?cant really afford new adjustable bar right now and if i need it? Thank you very much for any input

    • @allmycarsisbroke

    @alecsithong 2 роки тому

    great video man! is this track bar replacement needed with the 3 inch lift?

    • @OutJeeping
      @OutJeeping  2 роки тому +1

      Not needed but highly recommended. If you don't get an adjustable track bar you would need to drill a new hole on the axle track bar bracket to shift the bar over to help correct the axle alignment left to right. Rough country has instructions on how to do this in a lift kit.

    • @alexanderbarrera9140
      @alexanderbarrera9140 2 роки тому +1

      It's needed if you want it done right I'm in the middle of it if not your axle will pull towards the driver side (if left hand drive) I bought one on Amazon for $140 adjustable for xj/zj/tj...... when I was doing the control arms I think l I noticed the steering components also needing to be adjusted or it would off center it aswell. So I recommend getting all new moog steering parts from rock auto came out to $198.00.

      @@OutJeeping So I finished my 3 inch lift kit from rough country. Thanks so much for your great videos! I did not install the adjustable track bar. Hey my front driver side tire does stick out more than the passenger side a little but not much. However it drives ok and does not steer funny. I have not gotten an alignment done yet either. Where is the Rough Country instructions on drilling a new hole on the axle track bar bracket to shift the bar over to help correct the axle alignment left to right?

    • @OutJeeping

    • @OutJeeping

      The heim joint end should be adjustable by how much is threaded into the track bar. Therefore you will have to thread it in more or back it out a bit to get the steering wheel back to center.

      I'm guessing that you are looking at one of the listings for an adjustable TJ track bar--the one he just installed is only compatible with ZJ, WJ and XJ (not TJ, as he wrote in the video title). It doesn't say his kit is compatible with a TJ if you follow that link in the description.
