I can see why Acura stopped making the NSX, this will eat it. Bravo GM. Im still focused on a Z06 allocation though!
the acura is over 7 years old and at least not some unreliable crap like this chevy
@@Steven-re3id Show me on this photo where the Corvette touched you? Its interesting you know the reliability already! My C8 has been flawless. The NSX just stopped production, so the comparison is relevant. It was ahead of its time for sure, but this is better and cheaper.
@Steven They just came out with the type S, for 200k, and it's slower than this...
@@Steven-re3id The LS Engine is like one of the most bullet proof in history.... Pretty stupid thing to say.
@@runningdebate2670 slow in what?, first we need to see them on the same track
The crazy thing is, this is the first ever production AWD Corvette and the Vette is 70 years old, all Chevy (and GM) did was to make the Corvette a year sports car now, and to think there are even more powerful versions still to come, hats off to the Corvette Team and I can't wait to see what else they have planned
This looks amazing. Congratulations to the entire team for making such a fantastic machine.
I've wanted to see something like this for more than a decade, and it's finally happened 😭😭😭😭
Great job team, on the list for Z06, put the AWESOME E-RAY as plan b if they don't make enough Z-06 cars!
GM continues to up-the-game in the Super Car segment. Congrats to the entire Chevy Corvette Team. “One Like None” is here!
electric motor sound mixed with the v8 Roar coming from this thing sounds insane I like it
I now see why this is a milestone car. I live in the northeast and I could see how this could be my only car. This car with a Z06 engine would be quite a beast too, and have those really sexy center exhausts. Just sayin' :) The body color panels look surprisingly good. I really like that look on this model. I think this will be a winner. With the looks and the added power and usability, the only reason to get a base corvette now would be price, assuming equal reliability, etc. Very impressive car and proud it's from the home team!
Z06 engine is coming with a higher power electric motor. Most likely called ZR1... Or some derivative. Also, all electric version will be called the Zora.
The 23 zo6 was different
6.2 Liter sounds better.
The C8 Zr1 is rumoured to be a twin turbo 5.5 and the Zora the same but AWD hybrid
@@alfredstewart5107 I’m kinda hoping the ZR1 will be the awd hybrid and the Zora will be a completely different model that’s a straight up v12 hypercar with Corvette dna, like a shot at the LaFerrari. Actually I’m pretty sure the Zora will be a jab at the LaFerrari, dunno about a v12 tho but one can dream.
Stealth mode: Front wheel drive Corvette. What a time!
Wonderfully done Corvette Team!
Too bad dealer greed will ruin it for most.
YUP!!!
Probably not, demand should way lower than cool cars like the Zo6
Don’t remind us 😢
It’s a 100k corvette, Chevy is already robbing people 😂
@@johns.1898 doubtful. I’d much rather have an ERay, so on the list for that rather than a Z06. Laughably more practical, quicker, clean, and fantastic classic pushrod V8 with that electric whine.
This is how electrification should be done. Really no compromise in storage space and the vehicle was designed day one to have electrification integrated within the car.
Z06/ZR1 with 300 or more electric motors on each wheels would be something
GM has done such a great job with the C8 lineup! Just make them more 😂 let us have the z06 for 100k instead of 200k
Or 150k which is the sticker
The Eray boost is good for a few short squirts, if the ZR1 is going to have a hybrid system like this they'll probably have to improve the energy recovery system to handle extra laps.
This car is awesome, but only one problem though, the dealerships are going to mark this thing up like the Stingray, and C8 Zo6. I already see it the mark ups going to be nuts, GM need to handle that !!!!
Thanks, Josh, Tadge, Harlan, & the Entire Corvette C8 Team. A++ AWESOME 👌 😉✌️JB
I love the ZO6 more but dam the E-Ray will definitely sell like Hot Cakes!
What will your first year production numbers be? 5 cars? $200k dealer markups? Why are you releasing cars you cant build?
This car is just another huge drain on GM's profits. Pissing away money. These vanity cars will be the death of GM.
They can never make them at a profit - you are 100% right Paul. Every one they sell - they will lose money building.
Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer, Saab, Opel, Vauxhall and Holden. Who's next on the chopping block? Cadillac?
You can't cover the outrageous costs of these ridiculous reverse engineered Ferraris by selling pickups. That is all coming to an ugly end.
The taxpayer and Government is not going to bail GM out of bankruptcy again.
Can't get a Z06 and won't be able to get an ERay. WTF!!!
Outstanding work, my compliments to the team at Corvette…….you have designed a hybrid powered supercar that will continue to define the legacy of C8. It’s an exciting time to be a Corvette owner. Thank you!!
Corvette still proving to be one of the most impressive cars ever built
the REAL QUESTION I want to know is will the dealers increase the MSRP price by 150%
We want the ZR1 as soon as possible
I'm 11th on the waiting list at my dealership in Ottawa Canada for the zr1
@@CuongNguyen-kz4lv Awesome how the heck did you do that? Do you know your dealerships markup yet? I really want one. it's got to be over well over $200,000 U.S. right?
@@glutiusmaximus4006 in Canada dealerships are not allowed to do mark up.
@@glutiusmaximus4006 no I think it'll be 200k cad tax in

this is very impressive. well done gm
Can’t fulfill ZO6 orders , Now THIS ?
I Love That Corvette😍❤️🏁🚗💨!
One word: Beautiful!!! I like it a lot in red. It looks classic!
Corvette's Halo Car. Bravo to everyone over at the engineering team.
0-60 2.5 sec lol man that's sick
You guys finally decided to Bring The AFX/Tyco cars to life!! 🤔
Corvette is fucking killing it. I'm so glad this was my favorite car since I was 5. Go AMERICA
I Am EXCITED FOR CORVETTE C8 ERAY!!!!!!
Had to check this out
Outstanding for performance
Boy chevy sure does know what they are doing marketing wise.
Wow, they are selling the same vehicle, to the same people, 3 times. brilliant.
My favorite Corvette so far, but higher priced then it should be. I could see young the base price by 30% to add the electric stuff, but not 60%+.
Also, I was hoping for some "expert" info in here, not just an advertisement of features we all know already.
2.5 sec 0 to 60 below 125 k its crazy
Certified Gold!!!!!!
Bravo on the E-Ray! I can definitely see that a Corvette AWD hybrid SUV will be coming!
I doubt they'd make a hybrid SUV, at least not in the same way. This hybrid system is a performance hybrid system, and the LT2 V8 is configured for a mid engine setup. I think the more likely option is that they'll skip gas entirely and go straight for electric if they make an SUV, unless they're planning on making a gas version to compete with the Urus and Cayenne, which I would see having a larger plug in system if they planned on making it a hybrid.
Red with the black wheels looks good, it just needs a spoiler.
I was 1st on the list at my dealer...now that I found out it costs the price of 2 base C8 Corvettes...I'm not getting it anymore...that's ridiculous! Other car manufacturers only charge $10K more for their hybrid versions...I'm just going to get the base C8 2LT with the Z51 package now...just going to use it on the weekend so I'm not too worried about the gas prices and getting a hybrid
That’s a beautiful car! Too bad the dealers are going to get greedy with it and sell it probably 85K over sticker price
So the zr1 will be flat plane crank with electric front motor?
The new Corvette Eray is the hottest car on the market. I am putting my order in this summer. I wish Corvette would add more exotic colors like purple and lime green. Hopefully they would bring out these colors because I would prefer to buy Lime Green Corvette.
What a day. What a 70th anniversary present. Looks a bit too Z06, but that thing is hot. Could be a bit more different in styling, but that's okay. Wondering about that 2,5 seconds, but something tells me that it is closer to 2,2.
most American brands usually exaggerate their specs, in the real world it would be 2.7 or maybe 3.0, just like the stingray which officially does 2.8 but really does 3.0 - 3.3
@@Steven-re3id Stingray does 2.9 officially, but I've hit 2.8 multiple times with mine without adjusting tire pressure or anything.
@@latelifeinvesting most journalists almost always do more than 3.0
I appreciate them sharing the price so early. Now I can make my decision. For sale 2022 c8 z51 3lt convertible ;)
assuming they will eventually really sell for that price, unlike Z06 with its markups at the moment...
@@harrirauhanummi My dealer doesn't mark up. They are good people
Driving in snow, only a few tenths faster and the ability to sneak out of my neighborhood? 😂 I don't get it. Glad my ZO6 is arriving in two weeks.
All of the c8 corvettes that are on sale used nearly 3000 in the whole country, huge selection of options for the vette fans
So the Mid engines in the back and the Electric motors in the back? I bet thats one hot area!!
Electric motor is in the front. And it essentially runs as a completely separate drive train too, just getting power from regen.
Nice 👍
How long will that small battery pack last though? It's going to be constantly going thru charge cycles!
Technological marvel indeed.
Its just a hybrid. The technology has been around for decades.
@@EK-rr2md not at that performance level. NSX comes to mind but not a lot of hybrids leverage electric motors the way the this vette does.
I wish it had the carbon fiber accents around the side air intakes like the other C8 models.
❤
New genration 💯💯
Why does this one look so much cleaner and fresh compared to the C8 Zo6 and the C8 base?
how much will it cost to service and fix that compact battery tug tight in that frame ????
Seemed like a good place to use the Grand Sport nameplate, I wonder if they have something else in mind for that.
This has replaced the gran sport, and is highlighting the wave into electrified vehicles for the corvette. I anticipate the Zora will be an all electric vehicle to obtain the expected 1000+hp similar to that of a Tesla. And the ZR1 will improve on the LT6 motor found in the new z06 with the addition of this electric all wheel drive system used in the E-Ray
@@canah1 That's my expectation. I'm not sure the twin turbo assumptions people make are true. Seems odd to develop a flagship NA masterpiece then turbo it.
This is the grand sport lol
@@canah1 I think that the Zora will be a jab at the LaFerrari
*Zora* made the Corvette
Enzo Ferrari made the Ferrari (you even have the Ferrari *Enzo* which precedes the LaFerrari)
Naming scheme might be a bit obvious, I think it’s probably going to have an engine, maybe be a plug in hybrid.
@@user-hd4wf5gq8r : Just for accuracy it was Harley Earl who made the Corvette. From the National Corvette Museum - "Harley Earl is the father of the Corvette. The Corvette was his idea pure and simple. He was influenced after World War II watching Jaguars and MG's run road-racing courses like Watkins Glen. He felt America needed its own sports car and he convinced GM to develop its own, inexpensive two-seater."
Zora played a big role in most of the Vette's history from '53 forward. Zora helped convince GM to put it into production, helped save the Vette when GM was considering cutting it in '54 due to anemic sales, developed & advanced the Vette into a proper sports car in the mid '50s, worked on experimental rear mid-engine Vette designs, the first one being the CERV I which debuted in 1960. He introduced many engineering advancements to the Vette from the '50s - '70s. Zora became Chevy's Director of High Performance in 1957 & then earned the title of Corvette Chief Engineer in 1967. He retired from GM in 1975.
and will the transmission be able to handle ? c8 dct has some issues

The engine is the same as in the base C8 so the transmission doesnt have to handle any additional torque.
Awesome follow-on to the Z06, and in my opinion a better choice for some folks. I'm going to air a pet peeve here, framed with a question to GM's design community. The pet peeve is this - uni-directional wheels installed on a car such that the wheels on one side are opposite directionally to those on the other side. This is an absolute non-starter for me personally, particularly on a car that costs over $100K. They can afford to get the wheels right. My question to the Corvette design team (and others) is this - as highly detail oriented designers and engineers, how can you sleep at night knowing that the wheels are backwards on one side of the incredible car you've developed? I certainly would lose sleep over it.
We’re all a little asymmetrical :)
Regular motor powers rear wheels, and electric motor the front? Please clarify
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’ll disappointed this didn’t get more EV power. 150 HP is kind of weak. Would love to see it around 700hp.
Procharger just released a supercharger that delivers 645HP TO THE WHEELS and over 600ft lbs. of torque. Should be FASTER than a Z06 in a straight line. Ms. Hartford's Z06 did a quarter @ 10.5 sec. At 130MPH. A mid range C8 with a Procharger should be under $140K which will be much less expensive than a Z06!
I saw that supercharged kit a couple days ago. The whine is a bit loud for me as it sounds like straight cut gears or something. But just imagine a supercharger on the awd E-Ray. Or a Supercharged Z06 motor with the E-ray awd. what about a TT Z06 with the electric motors in the front making it awd. Damn!
"so when are these going to actually be on the road"
They wont ever be on the road, theyll just be in garages collecting dust "
Love Corvette e-ray from cambodia 🇰🇭🇰🇭

Please Chevrolet fix that dealership problem I am so unhappy with what dealerships are doing selling these $50K over msrp GM does great to make car to keep customers happy but dealerships ruins all that with selling them $50K higher then MSRP

Starting at 104k plus another 50k dealer markup??? When will Chevy address this? I can’t seem to find a Z06 with in 50k of msrp. Not a good look in my opinion. It should be promoted with no price or state that local market will dictate if you simply allow dealers to add on whatever they please.
The music sounds like something in forza Motorsport 4
Well, it's a $100K car. It's not like they're going to sell like hot cakes after the initial builds. The Corvette is moving further and further away from us average Joe's
What happened to Tadge ???
104 k starting but going to be 100k over msrp🤦🏽♂️
So don't buy the bleeding edge... version 1.0 is going to have some teething problems. And you know the real monsters just around the corner. So wait for a year, and pick up the ones that are going to be on the market when the ZO6 eray or ZR1 eray versions drop...
Or pick up a Z06 that somebody is trading in...
You know Ford makes that electric crate motor... 281 hp, 317 ftlbs torque... Rich? Rich Rebuilds? Take a Z06, put the M9000 in the front... 951 hp, ftlbs 777 torque... perhaps a 4 kw battery.
Show Chevy how to do it...
If they're going to be going in for 100k over MSRP. If you can pick up a Z06 for $80,000 and spend $100,000 putting a crate electric motor in the front of it, you could make a true monster that would be unique, and still be spending less than a new eray.
@@thebarkingmouse true but i dont plan on getting one picking a up a c7 z06 next month + its my dream car
@@Yvngxkay- I totally understand. I used to race when I was younger, and honestly I don't need the performance in a lot of these cars offer. You can't really take advantage of them. I'd rather have a car with modest capabilities and be able to drive it closer to its limits. I have a Mazda 3 Turbo all-wheel-drive and just yesterday I drove it down the Tail of the Dragon right after it snowed. It's the first time I've been down the dragon when there we're so few vehicles. I only had one car that briefly held me up, and they were very polite and pulled over as soon as possible. And I wasn't pushing it because there were still patches of snow and ice, and the dragon is dangerous. With most of the distance having no guardrails. But in a high-powered car like like even a C6 or C7 Z06 oh, there's no way I could have even approached spirited driving on that road. As it was I was able to drive that little Mazda at 6 maybe 7 10ths. Enough to have fun without scaring myself or terrible risk.
I'm looking at buying an old Miata and stripping it out for weight, because that's a car that I could drive at 9 10s of its capabilities without going hideously fast.
I'd rather drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.
@@Yvngxkay- congrats on your car though man. That's an awesome car. Make sure you know how to drive it so you don't end up in a ditch
@@thebarkingmouse man nice car and yeah im gonna be safe with the vette I drove my neighbors Z06 at the track before pretty cool definitely can handle it
Where is the convertible?
I can see how many people might like this. But I was really hopping that Chevy would just make a new car that would be electric. We all knew this was happening. No Camaro and a electric corvette. It seems that ford will be our last stand. I hope that there will at least always be a internal combustion model. My C4 hopefully will last long enough to be a legend.

I think that’s great I love the car but it’s sad you’re gonna bring another car out when people like me are waiting for a stingray after almost a year now I’m still 500 on the list for a stingray
You’re exactly right! Also how much bottom damage would be done to the car driving it in all weather?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🚗🚗
What do the innovations mean for the driver? That I can’t afford it.
Ok so still has an ice, electric engine added but no mpg improvement or environmental benefit which is the purpose of hybrid/all electric vehicles. The only benefit i see is better traction and faster 0-60 times. Not a bad thing and def nice looking, but not convinced best option if looking for electrification. Does have that shock and awe factor for sure.
It’s supposed to reach 45mpg
And it does have environmental benefit, just very negligible. The real purpose of hybrids and EVs is to save money on fuel, which EVs kinda suck at btw. See this is why we shouldn’t crack down the the environmental impact of the consumer/individual, instead we should target corporate bodies and organizations. The ICE has long been a scapegoat for “environmentalists”, it would be very much sustainable to keep it alive (or should I say to keep it alive is more sustainable), but people make a huge deal out of their existence because it’s the only this that comes to their minds when they think about what’s polluting the environment.
But I digress
